Question Ghost touch issue - Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro

Hey guys!
I'm currently on ArrowOS 07.09 build with firmware 12.5.1. In the last 2 weeks I got ghost touch issues quite frequent. The phone starts to recognize touches crazy fast without me touching it and doing random things. I have to lock the phone with the power button to make it stop.
Does anyone else have or had the same issue? Is it a hw or sw related issue in your opinion? Any tips, ideas, working methods are welcome to make it stop.
Thank you!

It's mostly a SW issue , but it can also be a hardware issue(extremely rare),change the room to pixel plus UI 3.7 most stable(tested by me).
edit: also less bugs than others and very fluent.

I had the same problem. The solution is to turn off the Game Turbo app. Your problem will be solved.

Mine problem is solved by send it to service center. They replaced screen module.

Reporting.
For anyone facing heavy ghost touch issue, you might want to try indonesian miui 12.5.2 rom (rjuidxm)
Previously I got ghost touch on xiaomi.eu 12.0.4, 12.5.1, 12.5.2 to 12.5.4, few arrow OS version, to the point that I got tired of testing backing up restoring and doing clean flash everytime, because this is my primary phone I use for daily driver
But now I have used miui 12.5.2 ID for 9 days and haven't faced any ghost touch.. I also always turned on show taps on dev options so that I'll know if theres any ghost touch, and theres none so far (I have 6/128 unit with tianma panel)
But there's huge performance drop in this rom, game that I play (PGR) have noticeable frame drops where theres none before, others also reported lower performance on genshin impact

i dont have such issue
at least i dont notice it responding to "something" when i just leave it on table
btw, clothing contacts are also contact

software my friend , i write it fast

For me, it has helped now to set the refresh rate and the screen to 60 Hz. We'll see for how long. All other activities did not help, including the game turbo exclusion.

Unfortunately, but with the 60 Hz refresh, the touch has gone crazy once, but it probably happens less often

well it depends on what screen you have, if it's tianma the ghost touch is "normal" and will only get worse because is hardware related, if it's Huaxing it's probably software related or (very bad luck) defective screen...
you can know your screen:
If you are on a Custom ROM or have installed Magisk:
1. Download Device Info HW application
2. Tap on 3 dots in the right corner of the application
4. Restart the app
5. Check LCM (above touchscreen)
dsi_j20s-42-02-0b <- CSOT/Huaxing
dsi_j20s-36-02-0a <- Tianma
If you are on MIUI without root:
1. Open your dialer and enter: *#*#284#*#*;
2. Open a File Manager, go to ~/MIUI/debug_log/ directory, you should see an archive named bugreport-yyyy-mm-dd-HHMMSS; (Date and time when bugreport was created)
3. Extract that archive, then extract another archive which was in bugreport zip, its name should look like this - bugreport-vayu_global-RKQ1.200826.002-2021-05-27-13-32-52.
4. In bugreport-vayu_global folder open dumpstate_board.txt and type in search tianma. If it's found, you have tianma, otherwise huaxing.

Thanks. I checked my tianma. I found such a coincidence "MDPPLATFORM_PANEL_TIANMA_NT36672C_J20S_LCD_VIDEO" How do you think to advertise the phone?

Well there is many reports that it fixed with MIUI 12.5.5.0 global latest update. ( confirm it, please!?)
For me never happened "tianma".

yes my phone update the MIUI to 12.5.5.0 and everything its good and smooth but I'm a little scared, if another update ends up breaking the device. On the other hand, I activated the option, to see the touches on the screen through the developer options, and detect that when I use YouTube and try to put a video in landscape using the button in the video, a single ghost touch appears in the middle of the screen, it does not affect at all apparently, but it seems to me that the ghost touches were not corrected correctly or in its entirety.

Some info about 8.12.7 with touch issues

The UI and touches have become far more smoother and responsive after this updated BUT also comes with another issue.
Multi touches/Ghost touches now VERY NOTICEABLE and screen freezes always occur and for a temporary fix you have to lock and unlock your phone. So when playing PUBG those ghost touches will mess up your aiming example when moving and aiming together suddenly your aiming aims to the sky/ground/random places with no explanation. Also the nav buttons and the middle area sometimes doesn't register any touches and this happened around 8.11.23.
8.11.15 =probably have the less multi touch/ghost touch issues but have some sort of delay around the edges/keyboard lag
8.11.23 =fixed the touch delay on edges/keyboard lag but multi touches and screen freezes is more noticeably.
8.11.29 =same issues as .23 except it's the issues is getting worser + screen flicker yay
8.12.7 =touch and UI overall is much smoother but issues from .23 and .29 is now getting out of hand and playing tap intensive games like MOBAs and drums is heavily affected. PUBG also keeps aimiing randomly at the skies/ground when aiming+moving
I wish the devs bring the touch edges delay fix back to 8.11.15 and see how it goes
I hope the next version fixes the multi touches issue and screen freezes also
On 8.12.7 All the touch issues are solved.

Agree with every point. Plus there's lot of typing lag & freeze on Gboard now

Mine is China Variant around September batch and clean flashed 8.12.7.
Still doesn't fix the screen freezes, multitouches/ghost touches and screen flickers
But when I used 8.11.15 never had screen freezes, ghost touches error. Only touch delay lag.
I suggest your should try tapping intensive game that involve tapping on the edges like drums or sthing to check your phone.
Some people claiming it's fixed but somehow don't even know what those touch issues are.

And last thing is to tag poco team & jai mani on twitter with issue. It works many time s

As a non gamer I must say that touch seemed fine to me until flashing 8.11.29 (previously had 8.11.15).
Now the touch response seems really laggy and typing on Gboard became highly frustrating.
I've read in forums like a dozen times every week people saying that the next build fixed all touch problems, but to me, it's worse than ever.
Hope the next build fixes this, or I will just revert back to 8.11.15 until they can sort this out, assuming that the problem is not hardware without the expected quality.

Same issue here when playing any moba and pubg specific so when any update or fixing for this problem let us know
Has anyone tried 8.12.13?.. are these touch issues resolved- ghost touch and screen unresponsiveness??
Just got the open beta 8.12.13 OTA, following are the observation :-
1) Keyboard lag is minimized.
2) Scrolling near edges is improved but still buggy near bezels.
3) YouTube picture-in-picture mode doesn't work in full screen gesture mode in poco launcher home screen.
4) Screen flickering in lock screen is gone but further need to be tested.
4) Icon refresh is still there when minimizing any app.
5) Back gesture now works properly when any app folder on home screen is open.
6) Tuch delay of back button of navigation Bar is gone.
7) Touch sensitive of screen is bit improved.
8) Something flower like icon is added in left bottom of lockscreen.
9) Notification icon is same it was in previous beta.

Hello and hi, my poco f1 was great first no ghost and touch dely and nothing screen bleeding . And was good in pubg too,, even tried multi touch app all touch being recognized successfully But after update and update and tell in 10.3 I noticed a touch issue and never find any topic talking about it ..I will explain ..
I play claw (multi touch) and everything great at training mode... Once I get in real match and face enemy in close quarter clash my aiming (crosshair) stop responding I mean I can't move it for first try I have to pull my thumb and touch and drag again to work ( it happens sometime ) it's like screen won't register my right thumb for changing and aiming my crosshair untill I have to drag it twice ( pull my thumb and again try to drag) it also happens in real match when there is no fight just changing my crosshair to spot enemies ( it happens very little)
Any one can guid me what is the problem ? Is it from pubg or ? I made my tap shown on screen and I try to touch with 3 finger at loading of pubg game ( but my touch being recognized and I can see that my thumb touch doing 200% well.. only in real match it happens ???

I just checked it now. Yeah 10.3.8 rolled out in September 21, but I still did not get it . And it's just a security patch nothing to do with my touch issue isn't it ? And I came from 10.3.6 to 10.3.7 ... Are you noticed my issue while playing pubg ? Even from previous versions ? When I bought the phone 2018. I never encountered any touch issue I even tested with every thing even bad aiming (auto move scope) which showing In YouTube my phone did not have it

The chanlog say they updated the security patch, but I see most of user update to 10.3.8.0 saying they fix something about sms, touch lag, etc that not fixed on 10.3.7.0...
You can try from updater settings to see if it fix your issue, tapping maybe 10 times on logo (number 10's image) and press on 3 dot and update manualy, then choose the file you have downloaded (this link what I shared is from XDA guide).
EDIT: I'm on 10.3.8.0 EU, flashed today from PE+, clean Flash + Magisk 19.3, with F2FS, no issues found yet,

Thank you for your kind help.. and yeah I just upgraded to the new version 10.3.8, and yeah it's bit improved but still not solved 100%, first two match I played I felt playing on iPhone screen , and still getting here and there touch issue (cannot move aim smoothly for like 0.1 to 0.5 seconds ) when enemy in my face and I am firing at him.. I am still confused does this freeze because of touch or rendering issue (fps) or game issue,, because my touch works very smooth on blank screen for a test
Maybe you should try OOS rom the 6T build stable 9.0.13 .. i played pubg a lot and i can't find any issues at all regarding ghost touch. hope that helps
If you use full screen gestures disable them before playing pubg it might fix bad aiming issue. or if your bootloader is unlocked you can try custom kernel like twisted kernel with different nvt touch drivers.
Same problem, Any easy solution?
My screen also freezes when playing PUBG. Sometimes it happens frequently, sometimes it doesn't. Recently bought Poco F1 and I am on 10.3.7 Firmware. Both LOS and PE+ are showing same screen freeze issue. When playing PUBG, Screen freezes for 3-7 seconds.
I wanted to try more ROMs but they are on cheap ass SourceForge servers. Showing more than 5-6 hrs ETA, which sucks really bad :crying:.
If 10.3.7 is the issue, can I flash 10.3.6 firmware file (downgrade) and then install latest Pixel Experience? Will it work? I don't want to install MIUI again.

well, mine only freezes 0.1 to 0.5 seconds (but still its major issue when playing FPS).. try these steps if you did not :
- disable all gestures (3 finger and etc)
- update firmware to the latest 10.3.8 (if you did not get it already, change region to Philippine ) as latest firmware gotta some improve but not solved it

Poco X2 Touch Issues, Just me?

I had already made a similar thread(https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-x2/help/backspace-virtual-keyboard-missing-t4069481) but I did not want to revive that or change that, maybe Mods can delete the old one.
Anyway, I am facing touch issues with the backspace but after some testing, I found out that it is bottom two corners. Topside is hard to diagnose.
I am linking a video showing these issues.
The problems I faced are
1) Backspace has some lag compared to other keys
2) sometimes backspace does not even register
If you watch the video you will see that sometimes even though touch is being acknowledged there seem to be some software edge padding or something which does not let the UI react to the touches, or it may be a hardware issue, idk. In the video, while touching at the corner you will see some gaps in-between touches which are actually totally unregistered touches which come as gaps in between touches.
Do you guys also have this issue?

Your touchscreen looks fine cuz it correctly displays white dots you touched.
I guess Miui ignores touch events if Miui thinks there's not enough touched area.
I think Xiaomi may adjust it in the future.
I tried that testing app, my K30 shows same with your video.

Okay, this is weird. Which version is it? And did you have already tried to reset your device? If it's still there it's probably a hardware defect.

Right, so no fix really... disappointing as the cameras are impressive
My device came shipped with Android Pie Based Miui 11, no screen weirdness. Just after the Android 10 updates that ghost touches appear. So I guess it's just software bug.
me too, sure software problem.
Thanks for the feedback, if software-related were you able to roll back to fix this?
Happy to try a workaround as I'm very reluctant to send it back..
worth a try though, but unfortunately Xiaomi didn't provide stock ROM specifically for my region so I left with no choice
Completely puzzled as I did a Factory Reset via Recovery and haven't seen the issue for past 2 days, I've left the screen touch tracing on and no 'ghost touch' was recorded..
so I don't know what to believe anymore, got an open return ticket but would hate to send it back without needing to..
how can I make sure issue is gone?
Hi, i had this problem 3 weeks ago, temporary solved with hard reset, worked perfectly until yesterday night when this problem went back.
Hard reset again, problem still there.
Someone solved it permanently?
It is really weird because, if i turn off/on the display, sometime works sometime not :S
The phone came with Android 9 and I started to face this after updating to Android 10. The issue is not extreme as shown in the video, it just the touch becomes slow to respond and hard to type fast with the keyboard. Turning off the screen and turning back on solves it temporarily sometimes.
I tried disabling on screen fingerprint and the problem seems to be reduced now. Definitely a software bug
I'm using Mi note 10 lite it also has same problem. Sometime touch freezing and after press power button automatically fix. Some time need to restart. And also one person told me he is fixed by this issue by turned off fingerprint sensor.

I have the exact same problem as you, slow to respond and hard to type. Need to apply more force on the screen for it to respond. This happened randomly throughout the day but are more common during night time for me.
I think it has something to do with the screen lock pin or fingerprint, by changing the screen lock from ie pin to pattern or turning off fingerprint print seems to temporary fix the issue. Another solution is to reboot the phone. I'm using Note 10 Lite btw.

I am using the Pro version. Looks like this issue is common for all the phone models in the Note 10 series. Yes, I have noticed that this issue often happens at night.
Try switching off MIUI optimization under Developer Options and restart your device. Then switch it On and restart again. This workaround solved my issue.

This fixed the issue for a few days and it started to reappear again. When the issue appears, if I turn on Game Turbo for any app (eg: WhatsApp) that particular app doesn't have this touch issue. Looks like a software optimization or battery optimization of MIUI is causing this issue

What firmware version are u in?
I'm currently at 11.0.16.0 and fortunately this issue did not yet reappeared after the workaround.
This is definitely a software ISSUE with MIUI.

MIUI 11.1.3.0 Global Stable
Will try out the MIUI optimization to see whether issue still arise. I'll see if my game turbo have the same issue as you too.
I'm currently at 11.0.7.0 (Mi Note 10 Lite)
Edit: Mi optimisation doesn't work for me but the Game Turbo trick do work.

General A way to fix ghost touch (Poco x3 pro 8gb)

Hello, I have 3 poco x3 pro phones among my friends, we were looking for a way to remove this ghost touch and I think we've done it .. We had a week with all settings and there is a solution. Turn off miumi optimization (in developer settings), reset the phone, then download another launcher we downloaded the nova launcher and uninstall my launcher then reset the phone again and .. No ghost touch for 6 days !!! And that's on 3 phones. We also have a setting for 60hz .. It's worth trying, maybe it will help you too
Reset? Like Factory Reset?
reset or reboot the phone?
Reset means? Factory reset or reboot?
Update to 12.5.5.
I have 2 days in xiaomi.eu 12.5.5 and finally after 2 months the ghost touch has been dissapear.
This happened to me twice, I got moisture trapped in the crevice between the jelly case and the screen. The issue went away after I disregarded it and just went on with my daily life. It's the small things that gets the best out of us, but don't let it ruin your everyday life.
Update your software miui
Hi, I had the same problem before. I tried all the hints about developer settings and so on, but nothing really helped, it always came back after a little while.
I had a feeling it had to do something with high activity on the display or touch. In my case it often happened after lots of activity on the screen.
I disabled a background I had running, Earth 3D, and now the ghost touch effect is fully gone.
The rest of my system is pretty normal with latest original Poco launcher. So here I would say it is a firmware / systembug and some software might be incompatible at this state.
Hope this helps to find a temporary solution for yourself until Xiaomi delivers a solution (lets see how their support takes things serious)

Same here.
till in 12.5.4 i disabled the game turbo and used microsoft or other launcher, and that had helped me with the ghost touch issue. 12.5.5 doesnot have such issues.
On mine, i send it to service center. They replace screen module.

Installed another launcher, ghost touch seems to be fixed. Seems like the ghost touch is a software bug of the poco launcher.

Install from twrp.

In my cell phone it works, otherwise I would not have shared it.
in 12.5.5
The fingerprint sensor does NOT work if you lock the device using Nova launcher shortcut.
Which sucks

This flashable ZIP is totally unrelated to the screen. It contains modified drivers for the fingerprint reader.
The only thing it could possibly fix is scrolling issues when touching the finerprint reader. But if you have actual ghost touches on the screen this won't help you.

Load the no gravity kernel for arrow os for me it fixed my ghost touches, you dont need to tweak just load the kernel as it is.

Can confirm. Installed No Gravity Kernel (v3.0.1) over LineageOS 19.1 and no ghost touches since.
Update: One full week, zero ghost touches.
