Change main camera - General Questions and Answers

Hey, first of all, I think this is right area to ask this (new to posting things).
I've had a look around the internet and xda to find out if I can change the main camera on my phone to another camera.
If that made no sense, I have 3 cameras on the back of my phone, I have a galaxy s20 g980f exynos and I want to change the default camera that apps like Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, messenger use to the 64 mp sensor or wide angle, not the 12 mp main sensor. I have successfully rooted my phone with twrp and magisk. My s20 is running android 11, latest update.
I'm sorry if there is an answer already that I missed.

I had not visited to xda forum for long time cuz develop this app for improving uncomfortable options and increase depth and out of focus distance. So sorry for that.:crying:
Now 2.19.4 standard and pro version is in playstore and apkpure.com(standard only).
I'm sorry I have not posted sooner, I have been out of town. Thank you again for the opportunity to test this camera with you.
Phones: LG G6 LG-LS993 (Sprint) Android Oreo 8.0, Everything Stock, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900P (Unlocked - Formerly Sprint), Rooted Android 7.1.2 AOKP Mod ROM
I haven't been able to much with it on the Note 3, except to say that it works. I'm currently dealing with an SD Card issue.
LG G6: I am on version 2.20.4 (237) of the app. Google Play does not give me the option to update. It also does not show up on my list of installed apps on the Play website. If you I go to the app page on Play, it does show it as installed, but only gives the options of "Open" or "Uninstall".
First let me say, the zoom is incredible. Wow it will really get up close. The amount of background blur you can get is almost unreal, or you can get very little. Very versatile in that.
First Image, 3 items are almost touching. Second, they are about 3 inches apart. Third, about 10 inches apart. Fourth is to show you how much you can change the depth of field back...about 12 inches apart.
There have been crashes, for example any time I run the Logic setting above 35 it crashes on the LG G6 but not on the Note 3, but they are few and far between. I've purposefully left my LG almost maxed out on space just to see how far I can push it. With less that 2gb of space on the phone, 166 User Apps installed, running Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger at the same time, it still performs almost all of the time.
Focus is a bit tricky for me. I'll click on what I want to focus, sometimes it will move right to that focus point, sometimes i have to press several times or hold my finger in place for a second before it moves to that point...once in awhile it never does.
The only other issue I am having I believe are more an issue of not knowing how to use all of the functions, and not much being in the settings menu. I've tried all of the various "Image Save Resolution" settings (and there are a lot) but it will never save a file larger than 960 x 720, and I think that is why I'm having a "fuzziness" issue. Its hard to explain, but I am attaching a few images to demonstrate. It's almost like it's tried to denoise the image, but the settings are off, if that makes sense. And like I said, it may come from the "save" issue I'm having.
Other than that, I've truly enjoyed trying to learn the camera. A bit of a tutorial on how to run the settings would go a long way in helping me really get some better photos so you can tweak anything that needs fixing. In the future, I would like to see maybe a manual focus slider to go along with the focus depth slider, auto rotation, and maybe RAW image added to the save format. All of the images I'm posting are unedited, they were ran through photoshop simply to rotate them the correct way since the app doesn't (or I haven't found how) and then uploaded straight to Imgur - which I'm still learning to use, please forgive me. Also, I have a photoshoot scheduled this weekend, so I will be taking a few extra lenses with me so I can get some shots for side by side comparison with the big cameras. I'll be using Canon 5dMKII full frame with various "L" and regular lenses.
Sorry for update fail.
I think your google account has some problem.
So I have set app price as 1 dollar in temporary as special event. Do save the chance for you.
Now 3.10.1 pro version shows up amazing depth of defocusing.

Well, whatever was going on is fixed. I went ahead and uninstalled, paid the dollar and did a fresh install of it and now everything shows up in Play as it should. It immediately updated to .1 early early this morning when I did it, and has now updated to .2 Thank you for all your help in that. Just in time for my weekend photoshoot in the city.
Thanks. I hope you will capture great pictures.
Just reply to me if you have trouble with app. I will fix and update soon.

Camera lag

Hi guys,
I have a problem, i just received my find X2 pro and it's perfect. Almost perfect.
I don't understand why but my camera is lagging when i use Snapchat or TikTok for exemple (15fps). It really works with the default app camera but not with the other apps.
When i use TikTok, i think the app use the preview of the photo mode and not camera i guess
Do you have a solution for this problem ?
Thanks
Did you already update to Android 11?
I just update the phone.
I have ColorOS 7.1
But Android 10
Well Android 11 / ColorOS 11 is already being rolled out but depending on where you live it might take a few weeks until you'll be able to download. There's also a guide on how to change region code which will let you download it right away if you don't feel like waiting. Anyhow maybe the update will solve your problem.
Ok i see. I just look some articles for Android 11. I'm from France, i think i'm gonna wait a stable version of this ROM.
Thanks
I just discovered something, when i'm outside, the camera works perfectly with every apps but not when i'm inside m'y house. I think it's maybe the lighting
Do you have an explication ?
Unfortunately the Find X2 Pro doesn't play nicely with social media applications, apps such as Snapchat & WhatsApp struggle with microphone volume as well as the issues you're experiencing, unless it's brought up to Oppo directly I can't see it being fixed anytime soon as it's still just as bad on ColorOS 11

Install Gcam on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S? What's in it for me?

Hi fellas,
I recently bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, and aside from the fact that it's still running Android 10 over MIUI 12.0.3.0 (Global / EU since I'm in France) when everybody else and their cousin seems to have switched to Android 11 already, everything's peachy with the phone.
My question is borne more out of curiosity than necessity: How better would my photos be if I installed Gcam (Google Camera), rather than keep on using OpenCamera or the Xiaomi app the phone ships with? Would I really see an improvement in the way the Gcam software treats images?
If you think I'd get to gain from the install, then a second question comes to mind: How to install the config file that comes with most of the builds I've found here and there? Last time I installed Gcam on the phone, the config file came separately, and however hard I tried to follow instructions, I never managed to load the config file, so I ditched the app altogether. Patient, I am not for that kind of thing, I'll confess.
So, what gives?

gcam use some algorithm to enhance photos to high dynamic range (HDR). you may get better image if you use proper gcam made for your phone.
secondly, config file can be loaded in settings of most gcam. you can use youtube or any tutorial to see how to load configs.
Thanks for your reply, Bhanu. It was my understanding that what Gcam does, mostly, is to apply some sort of software "magic" to what the sensors record, and in this respect, the 48MP main sensor on the Note 9S isn't too shabby, so I'd really like to give it a try, but as I said in my OP, every time I did what was advised in the tutorials I read, i.e. press somewhere in the camera interface (left of the capture button), I always got the same "no config file to load" message, although I had a config file waiting to be installed, one that I had downloaded along with the Gcam .apk file, so I was wondering if there were APKs that already contained said config file, and if so, where can I find them?
For example, this article points at two different builds based on Gcam 8, but it doesn't mention where to find the config file that goes with either one of them.
hi, i like the way you replied,
about gcam i have found v7.4 its recommended to use v7 because they are relatively stable.
link:- http://www.mediafire.com/file/n6zvk...wFjJ1hSydvsFIulyLOShEyHF73I-Hcbch7knXmuWUwVis
just open app and go to settings and developer settings and disable use google photo to use it.
or simply install google photos to make this version work.

(Question) Does GCam have access to full photo sensor resolution on rooted phone?

When I root my phone, is there a way to allow 3rd party camera apps access to the full res photo sensor. Also, if I do have full resolution access, will I need to acquire a specific Gcam mod that will make use of this increased resolution or adjust xml settings?
Background:
I've recently been excited about purchasing a OnePlus8T, upgrading from a Pixel3. Plans to root the device (something I've done with every phone) as well as install GCam. In doing some research on initial mods I intend to complete on the phone, I came across an article from a GCam modder that says OnePlus blocks access to the full 48MP photo sensor resolution for 3rd party camera apps, instead limiting to a 12MP binned resolution. The GCam mod I've been leaning towards is GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.1_Wichaya_V3.1.1_snapcam. If you've got other recommendations, please pass them along. Also, I'd be happy to install Magisk modules if necessary to achieve my desire.

Question Working Gcam for the A53

Just picked up this phone, so far I like it, seems a bit laggy, but I'm looking for a working Gcam version. I found a few but one is a Go version and the 2nd I can only get video working. Any help would be appreciated
It's like 99% + a proper gcam will not work for this device. I don't own this device but have been looking if RAW is capable on this device at all with 3rd party apps. Apparently this is a NO. When RAW is not available at all, GCAM's core software does not work...which is HDR+ mode. It's really lame because the camera sensor , processor/processing and memory is more than adequate.
I think gcam is limited to what is already existed. I had hoped it could be a workaround on the RAW issue, it couldn't engage the cameras on mine.
Hey there people, a couple of weeks ago I've acquired an A53 because of it's camera capability, while researching I found out this phone doesn't have RAW format support, which is a shame acknowledging this phone can shoot up to 10 seconds of image! So I decided to get my hands dirty and mod the camera libraries and so a Google Camera for it. I might release the modules and the Google Camera by this Saturday. I'd be also doing a Q&A, and you're invited! (I'll be talking about my work over 64MP mode, spoiler alert, I've been able to expose the resolution size for 3rd party camera apps, but I decided I won't be release with the 64MP mode until I'm able to access 64MP mode without root.)
I'm eagerly waiting to show you all my W.I.P works and much more!
Attaching a video showing how GCam 8.4.300 behaves.
Hey there, I was able to make a stable GCam 8.4.300, refer to my XDA thread!
Interesting !
Sadly we have to Root the phone to use gcam
Thanks for your work, i'll follow tour project closely

No worries, for those who can't root or don't want to root I'll be doing my best to get working 64MP for 3rd party camera without root!

I'm not particularly interested by 64MP mode as I'm not impressed by the differences from a quality perspective (using Samsung app)
But I'm interested by a working version of gcam cause I don't like Samsung camera app and also the photo processing (far better when I disable the HDR mode)
So if your version of gcam can be installed without unlocking bootloader I'm in !
But if I understand correctly that's not possible currently ? Am I right ?
Thanks for your work !

Yes, sadly you can't use gcam without root, I saw Samsung's api has a RAW picture format so I have been tried these past weeks using Samsung's API RAW picture format instead of Android's, unfortunately no progress was achieved so far
That's very cool. Really looking forward to trying this out on my phone with LineageOS GSI and Magisk. There, the difference in quality to the default cam will be mindblowing I assume.

I don't think Gcam is ever going to work unless Samsung enables RAW support (or someone finds a way to enable it) on the A53.
How do I enable GCam if I have ROOT?
Considering this device through local carrier because it's one of few with expandable memory. They're also suggesting Motorola Edge.. I've been out of the loop on tech side of things for years now, so I naturally came here to learn what I can about them. Is A53 5G a solid choice?
