Resolving Bootloop has removed my Internal Storage - General Questions and Answers

Yesterday I got all my root set up and working fine on my Redmi Note 9 Pro using Magisk (albeit without TWRP installed as I didn't know anything about it at the time) then I decided to install the Smali Patcher module with Magisk so that I could Spoof Pokemon Go with my son in the evenings. I created the module no problem, but when Magisk flashed it, my phone bricked and got stuck in a bootloop to fastboot. I eventually got TWRP installed and factory reset my phone in the "WIPE" menu, I used the standard Wipe that deletes user data etc then factory resets the phone. Everything seemed fine, I was able to set up the phone as per normal until after about half an hour I noticed none of my apps had installed yet. I went into the Play Store and most of had a "couldn't restore" error on them and clicking on one and trying to force it to install would come up with an error about insufficient storage space.
I plugged my phone into my PC to have a look and to be amazement, Internal Storage doesn't show up at all, only the SD Card shows. After over an hour, only one or two apps have successfully installed so I assume they are installing onto the SD card and that's why they are taking an absolute age to install. Most of the apps just flat out won't install so I can pretty much just make a phone call, that's it. Am i right in thinking I have corrupted my Internal Storage somehow and the OS is now isntalled onto the SD card? Maybe the Internal Storage has been formatted and not reallocated or something? How do I go about restoring my phone to how it should be ie 64gb Internal Storage.
I have tried restoring to factory settings again and it made no difference,

Wierd cwm backup behaviour

Okay, so today I took a cwm backup of my current rom, cm music ed v4...{cwm v5 by tj_style}
I have a habit of uninstalling all less-than-frequently used apps, clearing cache, removing other unimportant stuff etc...so that my cwm backup remains relatively small in size (that way I can keep 4-5 backups simultaneously on my sd card)
Before starting, I checked that I had filled almost ~250mb of my 512mb sd-ext partition...and I had around ~4gb free space on my 16gb card...
However, it took a staggering 1.5 hours to complete my backup! (Normally, it averages to 15-25 minutes)
When I then try to restore my backup, it got stuck at "checking md5 sum" for around 15mins, after which I pulled out the battery, and reflashed the rom (rather than restoring it)
So, in an attempt to find out what went wrong, I checked the cwm backup, only to find that the entire backup was close to 3.5gb in size!!
(The wierd part was, based on previous experience, the backup shouldn't have exceeded 450mb max)

Everything inside the backup was normal, except the sd-ext tar, which was super-inflated...
Inside the tar, there was only a "lost+found" folder (while there should have been other folders as well), and there were only a few big files (very big) and LOTS of other numerous very-small files in it...
The big files aren't extractable, hence I don't know what made them so large...
So I am just troubleshooting the problem, trying to learn what may have happened/gone wrong...
{When i reflashed the rom, cm musc ed v4, everything was working fine, including the sd-ext partition
The recovery also is working fine, except the backup and restore part}
Help would be appreciated...
(P.s. don't tell me to use different recovery/rom/sd card, since that is not my purpose, I want to know the exact problem)

Low Storage Space error

Hi,
I'm getting this error on start up:

I'm showing 0.91GB (1.97GB total) free in first internal storage
1.58GB (11.25GB total) free in the 2nd internal storage
26.82GB (29.76GB total) free on my SD card.
I've tried clearing the cache partition as posts from other devices suggested. I really don't want to do a full wipe so I hope someone has a quick fix.
Everything seems to be working fine, just not sure why I'm getting that error.. I only get the error on start up. I can get into Play Store fine (unlike others who have reported the same error message).
I'm running CM10 20130114 NIGHTLY and have seen it for the few week. I'm not sure if it's the ROM, some app, or something I did.
Much appreciated for any assistance.
you have all your pictures, video and music stored on the internal phone storage, and the external SD is almost empty. Move everything to external SD to get rid of that message
I freed up 3GB in the internal storage and am still getting the error.. I'll just do a full wipe on the weekend. Thanks for trying though.
Same problems
I have the same problem too.
I have 0.9 GB (1.97GB total) free in first internal storage
3.5 GB (11.25GB total) free in the 2nd internal storage
I'vw just updated to CM10 20130117 NIGHTLY and from that time I see this warning everytime I reboot.
I wiped full data before i upgrate and i dont know what is the problem. My phone still runs ok
Any one can solve this problem without wipe full data again?
solution
I found the solution
this is a known issue caused by Viber and/or Lucky Patcher. Move Viber to the SD Card, and it should be solved
Erm, what if it's lucky patcher?

[Q] I don't even know what to name this problem...

So.. it all started with google services framework.

It kept crashing every 30 seconds. I tried to clean cache, clean data, force stop, reboot phone, remove google account in "Accounts & Sync", everything you can find on the internet (except for an actual solution, which i still didn't find). I thought re-installing it would help. I found an apk for Android 2.3.4, and installed it. I rebooted the phone. I had the same problem with play store a couple of months earlier, and I thought it would be the same.
Android didn't boot after that. Tried removing battery, rebooting phone, nothing. Had to do a factory reset. Once the phone booted (after factory reset) i got to the part where I get a green android with a message "Touch the android to begin"
I tried factory reset a couple of times, with and without sd and sim cards, no luck. Tried tapping the corners, but nothing. Found some other **** online, same result.
Why did you try to install an OS using an apk? It sounds like what you should have done was reflashed GAPPS which should have overridden the framework you were having a problem with and solved the problem. If your phone is not rooted, the only way you can fix it is to boot into recovery and reset from there. If you do have a rooted phone, it'll probably be easier to go into CWM and reflash your ROM.

unable to flash anything in TWRP, SD card wont mount or show contents

Hi!
I picked up a Mate 8 from a local service provider and would love to flash a new ROM to get rid of the ugly stock one, but I am stuck when trying to flash anything from TWRP.
The phone boots fine, I unlocked the bootloader, and has TWRP Mate 8 version...I can't locate any files from the internal storage though. I understand this is due to the system being encrypted. I cant seem to get around that though. I tried the format data option, hit yes, then go back but that obviously has deleted what I had stored (the SU zip). I can't mount the SD either afterwards, to load it in recovery.
I tried using the Italian knife tool, and used the Root option, and option 3, but get an error: error: cannot load '.\rec\boot.img
I am not a pro on this so it might be something farely stupid. I would love if anyone could help me with this...

Edit:
I was able to solve myself. It was a rookie mistake. Perhaps the internal storage is encrypted, however I was able to flash SU using TWRP by inserting an external SD, which I had not done before. I was able to view contents from that location and did not need to use the Italian knife tool.

To delete system apps, download system app uninstaller from play store and grand it superuser permission.

[HELP] `Application Not Found` When attempting to request to write in SD Card

I recently wanted to use my SD Card from my phone to record Shadowplay on the PC (for a day).
When I formatted it and went back to the phone, I found out I couldnt write on the SD Card with any third party apps (tested with samsung camera, My Files; works fine). And when it prompts me to give access, I get an `Application Not Found` error like shown in the screenshot.

-I first tried finding a setting in the app info and phone settings to no sccuess.
-Then I did a format and factory reset using TWRP, no even stock the phone had the same issue.
-Then I looked at the platform.xml file the phone had and noticed that the ` permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" ` was empty, so I edited it using the platform adb tools; But after doing so the file reset and the issue still persisted.
Attempts to format the sd card through the phone were also made; again with no success.
Im really out of options here and I cant use my phone normally like this.
My phone is a Samsung S7, rooted, but original ROM is kept; with latest TWRP and using Magisk.

I have now instead installed LineageOS 17.1 and everything works fine. Aside from now the adblock app does not want to work, i am satisfied.
