Questions about a rooted Pixel 3 - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I have some questions about rooted Pixel 3, right now I'm deciding whether to root Pixel 3 as I am trying to do some debugging with apps with proxies, but so far I haven't done it yet as I'm afraid of losing Widevine L1 certification, and has anyone rooted the Pixel 3 here atm? Have you been able to retain Widevine L1 certification or do you lose it and you just default to L3?

Surprisingly, looks like it does maintain L1. Don't have netflix etc so can't test if it will pass their other checks but...

I'm not sure what the 'Android 11 root method' is? I have magisk patched boot image (I patched the recovery image with magisk apk), and flashed it to boot partition.
But just found out a better way to accomplish it, and do some additional stuff. Take the magisk apk and change the extension to zip. Then with LOS recovery, do adb sideload of the newly named zip. Not only does that patch the boot image it also adds some needed scripts to addon.d (in system). The added magisk script makes it possible to do an OTA update and keep magisk etc.
cheers
Should have clarified, if the output above isn't obvious, I'm on Lineage 18.1.

Yeah this cannot be applied to rooted devices.
I am going to try to mod this file so rooted users can flash this.
I am just going to TRY.
I made an nandroid of my device right after I unlocked it and applied twrp, so I just have to restore system (to remove xposed, etc) , boot (as I have a custom kernel and system-less root) and stock recovery and it should flash ok.
I have a European device...

I'm aware of that, thanks. Euro OTA was captured already and I've also got the notification to flash.
I was just providing information.

Yep this work for me as well. The main thing is that it changes ro.build.fingerprint to an acceptable fingerprint. You can do this manually without the module.
After updating to 13.3 it's not working.
Any idea why?

Working still...
Just a warning: Android Device manager now thinks my phone is a Xiaomi Mi6. It's a side effect of this module using Mi6 prop values.
Just made a module that fixes SafetyNet while not changing your device name in 'Find My Device'
https://github.com/Sporif/lenovop2-safetynet-fix/releases
You can just add the zip file from Magisk Manager, or flash form recovery.

The reinstall button is there for me. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be there. I think you might have a deeper problem that no module can fix. Have you enabled magisk hide? Also what rom are you on?

Android 12 rooted and google pay

Hello , if anyone can help me please ... I was rooted on oos11 and using magiskhide props config i edited my fingerprint so i was able to use google pay. When i recently updated to oos12and rooted google pay diddnt work i was not meeting security standards so i thought i would do the same procedure with editing fingerprint props, but on the list of devices that appear oos12 does not seem to appear for oneplus 7 pro. Is there a solution to have rooted oos 12 and google pay?
Yes brother, I have oneplus7pro 1917 and my problem was that I use cdma and I want to update but after the update the network disappears and there is no code to open diag to modify efs so I did the following downgrade to oxygen 11 and after that flasht twrp 3.6.2 and then install majsk root and then download the following add-on TWRP_A_B_Retention_Script and I did the backup efs via twrp and after that I downloaded the update ota12.1 and after the update did not reboot go to majsk and choose instal to inactive slot and choose reboot and then you will notice that the device has been updated to Android 12.1 and you have root and you also have twrp installed, go to twrp and do a restore I hope that this experience helped you, and I am sorry that my English is not very good and I used google translate
Thank you for the kind reply , i perfectly understood what you say no problem from tour english, but my problem is not to root the phone i was rooted already with the nethod tou said , my problem is to install working google pay on rooted oneplus 7 pro!
If you use magisk try enable zygisk
and deny google service and google play
next step install saftynet from this repo

Thanks for your reply i have already enabled zyisk and cofigured deny list but to no luck. Previously on oos11 the problem was solved by editing the fingerprint through magisk hide pro config. But this procedure is not supported now because i cant find there a fingerprint for oos 12 (only 9,10,11, see attached photo).
Is there anyone managed to make google pay work on rooted oos12 ? And if yes how?
Used s21 fingerprint. So far no issues

I am rooted, with the unlocked bootloader.
The images follow each other in order. When I try to force the update, the error messages reappear.
Does anyone have a solution please?
Thank you in advance

You will have to flash the update. I am sure there are guides for your device

Thank you, I am not an English speaker, I could not find!
You don't actually have to flash the OTA, you can just take the normal OTA to your phone.
But it's true that being able to OTA update requires ur device to not be rooted.
If you flashed ur rooted boot img directly in fastboot, I'm not 100% sure but you probably have to flash unrooted boot img first. Please check this with other guides tho.
The generally recommended method is that you dont flash rooted boot img in fastboot but instead boot it and then flash through magisk. This way magisk has a backup and you can refer to the following guide to install OTA updates:
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/ota.html
fwiw i also got the Couldn't update - Installation problem trying to update my unrooted 6a with the 21mb November OTA. haven't been able to get past it and so i guess i'll just wait til there's another stable release and flash that? anyone else had this?

Cant get Magisk to work on Huawei device

Hi guys.
Im having trouble trying to install Magisk on my Huawei Y7 2018 and im hopping you help me to find the issue. First of all ive read the official guide and followed every step, the issue i have is when you have to patch the recovery.img and boot.img files, but i found none of those in my OEM rom file. Reading a few threads on this forum it seems that Huawei doesnt have those exact files on their roms but i havent found wich ones are the equivalents to be patched.

Thank you!. I will try it and report back.
Well, no luck. The phone keeps reeboting after i flash the patched file.
how did you patch the RAMKDISK.img? did you preserve encryption?
Well here's how i managed to make it work.
1 - Installing a custom recovery, in this case TWRP 3.2 (ministryofsolutions has a tutorial on his website about this)
2 - Donwloading the latest Magisk apk from the official website.
3 - Renaming the .apk file to a .zip file, this is necesary in order to make it flashable through TWRP.
4 - After flashing Magisk from recovery reboot the phone and open the app, if it ask for an update tap the allow button.
5 - After the update is done check the status and it should display the installed version.
6 - Check the root status with root checker.
7 - Done !
Thanks to everyone for the help.
the installation instructions I have linked does not involve TWRP
