Has anyone managed to remap the nasty Assistant button?
I tried all possible apps, non of them worked!
Even if I completely disable Google Assistant and select the Assistant mapper as default assistant app in settings, when pressing the button Google assistant opens and asks to be enabled!
Disgusting!
Sorry for not getting any response. How I wish I know the answer but I just noticed how unhelpful Motorola Edge S/G100 users are if it doesn't affect them.
Not the XDA I know of when I first joined in 2010 busy modding Moto Rokr e2 and e8 (ahh... those early days).
Anyhow, try this. I believe this can remap the button (will also remap the swipe from corner)
Swipeup Utility - Apps on Google Play
Put your home button to use.

Just take note I haven't personally tried this. Hope it works. Good luck.

I have managed to rebind the assistant button to open any app using Tasker, because no "Rebind buttons" type of app can detect the said button
1. I set Default digital assistant app to 'None' (pressing the button now shows "Set Google as the default assist app to access your Assistant")
2. In Tasker i made a new profile > Application > All > Assistant Settings
3. To the profile i added a New task with 2 actions: 'Back Button' (exits the assistant setup screen and makes the task run faster) and 'Launch App'
Because the task requires assistant to be opened, what you can do with it is limited (you can't set it to a function like camera shutter because it will switch apps).
I have set it to open the app 'Touchpad for Big Phone & Tab'. I would have liked to add a macro that automatically enables the touchpad and then exits the app; but that requires root access and I'm not comfortable with rooting my daily driver phone that i saved up for (also i have never done that before).

If you're like me and you want to test out some of the most noticeable new features in Android 4.4 KitKat then this is for you.
I have tested cm11 alpha1 for about 30 minutes and all I can say is that it's nothing more than a proof of concept at this point (just like the alpha tag suggests).
So if you want some of the quirks of KitKat in a stable environment (any jb rom) here's a way of getting some of it.
While Google still hasn’t provided the actual launcher in the Play Store, some simple sideloading of the GoogleHome.apk we found in the Nexus 5′s factory image, along with the updated Google Search app, got everything up and running. Here’s our easy how-to on getting GEL installed and fully functional on your Android device.

}
First, make sure to enable the sideloading of apps by going into your device Settings > Security > and checking Unknown sources. From there download the updated Google Search and Google Home from us (linked below). Jump into your Downloads app and install both the apps you just downloaded (press the descriptions, not the check boxes), selecting “done” after every installation.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/gxv7cvpcvv79i23/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox318.apk
http://www.mediafire.com/download/3ina0fd8fwki5fo/GoogleHome.apk
From there, press the home button and select “Launcher” as your default homescreen — this is the new Google Experience Launcher. You’ll notice the always listening “Ok Google” command doesn’t work from the Google Experience Launcher. No worries, turning it on is easy.
For some, you’ll be able to swipe to the left and quickly access Google Search/Now, but if that’s not available, you’ll need to actually enable the new Google Search/Now app. It’s easy, just open the Google Search app (listed as “Google” in your app drawer) and click “Next” then “I’m in.” Once that’s taken care of, jump back to your homescreen. You’ll now be able to swipe to the left and access Google Now.
Once in Google Now, scroll all the way to the bottom and press the 3 dot menu to select Settings. From there, select “voice” > “offline speech recognition” (manage downloaded languages). Now, we’re going to work our way from the right tab, all the way to the left.
Select the Auto-Update tab from the top and choose one of the auto-update options (we recommend leaving it on “over WiFi-only”). After that, scoot over to the All tab and find English (US). You’ll notice it already says “pre-installed”. Don’t listen to it. Select English (US) anyway. From there, jump to the Installed tab and press “English (US)” where you’ll be asked to download the latest version (version 28 at the time of writing). Hit “Download” and the updated version will be downloaded and installed.
After it’s finished downloading, press the home button where you’ll notice “Ok Google” will now be displayed inside the Google Search widget. Simply speak that phrase whenever you’re on your homescreen to perform a Google Search or voice actions. That’s it. Was relatively painless, right?
Thanks, Justin!

On some ported Android M (CM13/AOSP 6.0) the NOW ON TAP functionit's broken/not-working, here I've listed a detailed guide on how this should be carried out fix this bug:
Plz note that this will work anywhere Android M it's installed, and this guide was made assuming that the devices in question with this function broken, don't have an "on screen navigation bars", and thus if your device it's already enabled nav bar, proceed to steps corresponding your concern:
++++++++++++
Let's do this:
++++++++++++
Note> skip this step 1 to step 2 if you don't want use navigation bar(then your menu button will be used instead, by pressing it) or if you've got nav bar activated on your device already!
1.obviously on screen navigation buttons are needed ,
Go and open this file as text /system/build.prop then add at the end of build.prop " qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" to enable nav bar as seen in this screen below:

2.if "google now launcher + google now app" were not part of your flashed gapps, then download them from play store! Then under system settings locate the google app > search and now> voice> and now activate now on tap(do voice detection if needed)
3.Now go to system settings> apps> tap on the settings icon top right> select default apps> finally select assist and voice input and select google app as your assist app!!
Press and hold virtual home button/or hardware menu button from within any app with tabs:

Really a Useful One Mate ..
If you wanna help debugging this new launcher I have created feel free to download it and report in this thread any error or crash you might experience.
In case of crash try to replicate it and, please, include logcat.
You can't use this launcher on the Play running WeTek OS because it requires at least Android 4.3 for the notification APIs but if you are using my CyanogenMOD build you can use it on the Play as well (but you might need to use a keyboard to access some of the functions since they are mapped for Core's remote).

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Instructions
Download the zip file containing the apk, unzip it and install the apk using your preferred method (using adb install, copying it to a MicroSD card and installing it using a file manager, etc.)
As very first thing allow the launcher to access the notifications in "Settings -> More Settings -> Sound & Notification -> Notification access".
I have created this launcher for being light and very easy to use, in fact using the Core you will do most of the actions using the * (star) button (if you don't have the Core's remote you can achieve the same with F6 button on a keyboard).
In the top row you have the notifications, you can click with OK button on them to open them in a popup or you can dismiss the selected notification without opening it using * button.
In the second row you have the highlighted apps section, the middle icon is the app drawer. From the drawer you can add the selected app to the list of favourite apps (the third row in the home of the launcher) by pressing * button, you can also long press OK to access to the app information menu where you can uninstall/disable the app, clean the cache or data, move the app to the sd, etc.
The third row, as previously said, has a list of favourite apps. You can re-arrange them by long pressing with OK on one of them (you will see that the app rectangle has a blue border, meaning it's been selected), moving to the position where you wanna put that app and long press OK again to swap the two positions (it's easier done than said), if you long press with OK on the same selected app it will clear the selection.
To delete a favourite app use the usual * button.
The last row has three icons, one for the connectivity (showing if you're connected by ethernet, wifi, or not connected at all) that will launch network settings when clicked; one that will launch android settings and another one that shows the weather and, once clicked, will show a popup with a 5 days forecast (from this popup you can toggle C/F degrees by pressing, guess what? * button
)

1.2.1
Changes
1.2.1:
- Added option to hide applications
- Added support for icon themes (have a look here for more info)
- Added Turkish translation
20151126:
- A lot of improvements under the hoods, included fixing a FC when using IP geo location since the public API I was using is not available anymore.
20151104:
- Added the possibility of fetching weather for a custom location. You can access to settings by pressing menu button in the main launcher window
20151101:
- Added current temperature and current city to the weather icon in the footer
- LP only: modified the visual feedback of the currently focused highlighted/favourite app
20151030:
- Added the possibility of customizing the Highlighted apps (all but the app drawer). Long pressing on an highlighted app will bring up a dialog where you can choose the new highlighted app. To reset an highlighted app to the default state press the usual * button on the customized highlighted app.
If you are running one of the latest Core rom that have this new launcher as system launcher you won't be able to update unless you use this file.
20151029:
- Added a colored circular reveal animation in the home section when interacting with objects that launch something
New version.
4.2
And for 4.2?
It is not possible because the notification listener requires 4.3, and integrated notifications is one of the best things of this launcher imho
This is what I want! Works on any android box?
Thanks for the launcher
the link is broken
I would recommend advertising this as a TV box launcher and keep developing on that niche. There are not nearly enough decent TV box launchers available. The one that Tronsmart uses is really good, but that's the only other one that I like. I didn't know what this was, but if people know its a TV box launcher they may be interested.
Launcher look fantastic,but link is broken.Please, fix it
Can we get a new link or a mirror please?

No, you should not do that. That is "old school". After the first 7862 releases FYT has changed that. I need to remove that from post #2 in my thread. (Thanks for reminding me )
Go into "Settings -> User -> Application Setting"
It determines which applications you want to auto-start when you start your car and unit. That is of course not the same as a "no kill", but works just as well.

it helped me to remove the navbar. There is no navbar now and it is beautiful.
Is there any difference between skipkillapp.prop and auto-start?
I actually don't want the application settings to appear on the screen when the unit starts. So keep it in the background.
In this case, when I auto-start, will the application settings be displayed as if I opened the application manually or will it stay in the background? And another thing I noticed when the unit restarts, the accessibility option is deactivated and I have to give permission again. Isn't there a solution to this?

"qemu.hw.mainkeys=1": That is a standard one to enable/disable the nav bar, but please check if your unit remains stable and if the systemui doesn't start crashing.
"Is there any difference between skipkillapp.prop and auto-start?" Yes. skipkillapp prevents the apps from being killed so they stay in memory in their active state. The application settings simply start the app on coming out of sleep or a reboot.
If you want a "nokill" system use @mariodantas kernel or @seb21 modded com.syu.ms apk.
Maybe I don't need navbar gestures because I removed the navbar below, but I already have navbar-like buttons in the upper statusbar section. So I don't think I will need it anymore.
by the way, yes it works stable and I didn't get any errors.

skipkillapp is a property file for android OOM (Out of Memory) mechanizm. It is good to place desired app on that list to prevent kill that app in case of memory shortage.
The actual "no kill" list is inside of syu.ms.apk : protected_app.txt.
And for the reboot. The FYT software does not start any third party app. To auto start an app there must be two conditions met :
1. the app must have autostart feature
2.the app must be whitelisted in pwctl_config.xml
