So I have Redmi note 9 (Merlin) and the gaming experience was not so good tbh. Too many lags so I decided to install a custom ROM and now the Performance is very much improved but there's a new problem I am a claw player and Sometime the Aim and the joystick gets stuck or move on it's own and I figured out that it was because my skin sometimes touch the bottom right corner of the screen that's why the aim is moving on its own. It's a water drop display with very aggressive screen to body ratio that's why the problem is happening to me. So is there anyway I can get a touch resistance area feature like in miui any app or magisk module?
I appreciate any help.
I am using lineage OS 18.1

I've seen that nokia is able to install treble roms from xda forums.
But i am not really into custom roms
I will choose POCO F1
SD845 processor with good developers support

I am not into custom roms. Besides that phone is made out of plastic.
I was planning to buy the nokia 7 plus and the only reason i didn't and went with the note 5 instead was that the usb c port seems to start to fail over time for some people: https://community.phones.nokia.com/...lus-usb-c-charging-port-fail-in-build-quality
Not a risk i want to take.
Just though it was worth mentioning
Also some people report that the phone will sometimes play sound out of the speakers even with headphones plugged in which is also a dealbreaker for me.

Dunno about the headphone issue. But the charging port is a hardware issue as far as i can tell so that needs to be repaired if it happens.

If the nokia 7 plus users will complain about the usb port issue(when i will make the post on the forums), then i will consider the note 5 pro.
I would go for Note 5 pro. Nokia comes with almost 100% AOSP android with fast updates. However lack of custom ROM development would be a very big downside. So when Nokia will stop supporting the device and treble ROMs will have some device specific bugs which won't be fixed - You are locked

I don't want a notched phone.
if you just wana ROOT your phone and wana live with Stock ANDROID ONE. then NOKIA 7+ is beautiful big device with Curved screen edges having amazing screen Tint (easy to read fonts) and loud sound
however
if you wana have device with whom you can try different roms having maximum developer support then RN5P is very good. however RN5p (like other xiaomis) have poor screen colors and viewing angles. even Kcal can to this much !

Can anyone tell me what is the problem with the RN5AI Screen Colors? I use my device for 4 and a half months now and don't see any problem with the screen that is mentioned everywhere (I have very good eyes and I see my screen as crystal clear so I can't understand why everyone complains over the screen and in professional reviews they also say the screen is amazing)

Note 10+ gestures -coming from Xiaomi and OnePlus

At first please apologize in case I missed the answers in an other threat but actually I did nit find anything....
I am thinking to switch from a OnePlus 7 Pro to a !0 Plus....I really love and meantime need the big screen, but getting annoyed by the proximity sensor of the OnePlus (not properly working), therefore I am looking for a phone with a similar screen size. What I am worried about is the gesture control capabilities of the Samsung. Xiaom (Mi 9 ) and my current OnePlus are offering great gesture control (on both Android Pie and 10- already available for both) and I am not used anymore to use the control bottoms....Now my question , is there any gesture control without the stick on Pie and what about the native gesture control of Android 10. In case there is no or will not be any gesture control without using the stick the Note 10 Plus won't be an alternative.
Thx a lot for your comments!
no idea?
Yes it has simillar gestures, and proximity sensor works perfect (is under screen), anyways xiaomi, op and huawei gestures are near to get the same experience as iphone, samsung is kinda different because yes it has the gesture but the animations does not feel as good and smooth as others.
Thx for your reply. What about the native Android 10 gestures?....are they as smooth as Xiaomi, Huawei or OP?
Any experience already?

NBA: Realme 5 Pro or Redmi Note 8 Pro

Hi all,
I am thinking of buying a new Smartphone. In my country Realme 5 Pro 8GB/128GB and Redmi Note 8 Pro 6GB/128GB are similarly priced. I am really really confused between these two.
Which one should I pick?
You expert opinions are required.
Thanks in advance.
No-one yet?
I am more inclined towards Realme 5 Pro basically due to SD712, Sony Camera Sensor and 8GB Ram Variant.
Currently I am using Realme 3. I don't like Color OS and Camera App. But I have heard that Realme will be providing its own UI with stock like experience. Is it true? And is there any changes in Stock Camera App expected?
Well that's a tough decision. I just bought RM5P 8/128 GB. Have used Xiaomi for about 4+ years and was happy with performance and software. Xiaomi provides lot of power packed software feature and highly customizable UI. But having used for more than 4 years, I was bored with MIUI, so I thought of switching to something relatable.
After I got my hands on RM5P, I was disappointed with the software and less customizable UI, but man, I have no words for the performance and camera. I am glad I made a good decision switching to this as this one has power packed hardware features which no brand has given in this price range. Hopefully, the software will be improved progressively.
My advice: If you have never used Xiaomi, go for Redmi Note 8 pro. Else go for RM5P. You will be happy with both.
Currently using Realme 5 pro(6GB Variant). To be honest, Redmi Note 8 pro looks more premium with its glass back. Realme 5 pro does look somewhat premium but nowhere close to Redmi Note 8 pro. The Redmi has a faster CPU and GPU but I heard some issues with overheating( and I don't have faith in Mediatek). In the realme, I have not encountered any overheatiing isues till now. But playing PUBG for longer periods makes the phone a little bit warm which is completely normal. If you want a phone for heavy gaming go with POCO F1, this phone is way better in terms of performance but looks kinda outdated( I regret not buying it). If you want a premium feeling device go for Redmi Note 8 Pro & if you want a overall better device go for Realme 5 pro.
Thanks, and what about Camera performance?

Realme 5 pro has very capable cameras but the 48MP images doesn't look that sharp. Normal 12MP is better( I think).

I just bought Realme 5 Pro 4/128 variant after (and still) owning Realme 3 Pro 6/128. I have considered Redmi Note 8 Pro before buying, but at the end I chose Realme. Here is why:
- Photography is the most important factor for me, thus I was looking for a phone with Qualcomm SOC because it will have Gcam mod for it. But then I saw on youtube lately that gcam mod also has been made available for RN8 Pro with mediatek chipset, but unfortunately the stock camera is still better than the Gcam on that phone. In case you don't know, the right Gcam variant with the right settings on Realme 3/5 Pro is amazing. I have compared it with my friend's Galaxy S9 and S10 and it put them both to shame when you examine the detail side by side at 1:1 zoom. Gcam on realme even manage to equal or beat my mirrorless M4/3 panasonic gx85!
- I read that RN8 Pro has touchscreen issues that still has not been fixed till now.
For me, ColorOS is ok. It has very aggressive RAM / battery management that often closing running apps eventhough there is still plenty of available RAM. So I just turned off the power saving feature (called 'Smart Power Saver') and use 'custom power saver' that allows you to set background running permission individually for each of your apps that you know shouldn't be close automatically like gps sport tracking app in my case. In app management setting screen you can also specify that certain apps are allowed to do auto start. You can also locked the app in the recent app screen so that it won't be closed. Unfortunately that setting is not persistent and only work until the next restart.
I'd never prefer an mtk powered device over an SD one. Just look at rm8p xda development forum and here. Words are quite unnecessary.

Well, as you wish but rooting and custom stuff can noticeably lengthen your device's life span and raise performance, lower battery consumption. Idk why would anyone willingly not want these but it's up to you. Even if you don't count these a SD powered device is mostly better choice for base lifespan of chipset is longer and features to add later are most of time more available for SD devices rather than mtk.

I have also come to know that Xiaomi Has released Source Code or something like that which will be very helpful for development. Actually I read it on XDA review. They also wrote that they have shipped few RN8 Pro to devs for active development. Although Development Section of RN8 Pro seems very inactive as compared to Realme 5 Pro section.
Most Probably anyone buying phone is this range will be buying a new phone after one year so Longer Life Span of phone is just not required if it can live for one year with its performance intact (Which I have doubt about due to mediatek).
Most of the people will never use Rooting and stuff on their phones even if the stuff is available for their phones (I Guess). But it is always nice to have support for your device. It is a plus but not a negative in my view.

Absolutely agree. Although even with released source code and free gift devices to developers indeed xda seems way more inactive if we compare redmi note 8 pro and realme 5 pro. I'm absolutely glad I bought this device instead of rm8p especially as you said custom stuff support and help. Probably mtk devices aren't the favorite of developers either so rm5p getting faster development with delayed source code reveal and even without gift devices to devs.

Yes there is in Indonesia.
This version MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk
In addition to the instruction there to set the saturation, I activate HDR+ enhanched mode which gives much better result in settings > general - advanced > HDR+ control = on and then set to hdr+ enhanced in the camera main screen.

Is 240hz touch of Poco X3 worth it vs 120hz touch offer by others?

I'm going for an upgrade.
Need help here guys. I am one of those who's suffering on their previous Poco F1 issues, ghost touch and hang just a couple of times this past years.
My main issue is the "touch reponse" always has the "DELAY" mix with screen freeze mostly triggered while gaming.
To those who already own it there:
• I'm just asking if their 240hz touch is TRUE and PRECISE, or too good to be true?
• Does it beats the other brands offering 90hz ref. rate / 120hz touch, 60hz ref. rate / 120hz touch in terms of gaming or not?
'Coz the phone price for the specs like the Poco F1 offers more bang in the buck rather than it's competitors, again I'm worried if the CUTS is on it's "touch reponse and screen issues again." Just don't want to lose money again on something not.
If not I'll just try other brand out there.
To answer both if your questions, it's yes to both.
I came from a Samsung Galaxy A71 which I paid WAY more for what it was worth and you get everything it says on the box.
120Hz is fluid and buttery smooth and touch response is lightning fast and precise, yes even in games.
Just be sure to download Arrow OS and use that because MIUI is filled to the brim with crap that will make your device very slightly sluggish.
I'd say each to their own. Go to a shop (if their open where you are) and try for yourself. If not then find one online with a good returns policy. Just as a side note my GF has an A71 and it is a way better phone overall. IMHO 60Hz Amoled beats this cheap 120Hz LCD (grey is my new black now lol). It's painful to look at, especially in low light environment. 240Hz touch responsiveness is just a number to me. Can't tell the difference. Then again it's a personal preference and I admit that I got this phone thanks to high numbers on the spec sheet for a low price.
Fellow Poco F1 user here.
Although the entire internet was plagued with problems with the F1, I however faced none of those. It does not mean your issues are invalid, but I'm just saying the group mentality made people believe their phone had issues that it never had. Things like Light Bleed and stuff were blown so much out of proportion that people actually recreated scenarios that they would never face normally just to make them feel bad about themselves. My Poco F1 is still an amazing phone and it also takes some of the best pictures with the right mods.
Back to the point, I see way too many AMOLED fan boys always claiming AMOLED is better even though they don't want to accept the draw backs or technical limitations. They see a phone selling AMOLED and immediately think it's better.
And back to the main main point...
240hz is hardly differential from nearer touch response rates and not even the most stock, unless the stock is absolutely garbage. On a phone, touch response hardly matters because there isn't enough IPC to make that response any worth it.
Summary :
Is Poco X3 truly responding to touch at 240HZ?
YES.
Will you notice the difference from a decent refresh rate from a modern phone and this phone which is so proud of its 240hz
NO
Enjoy your phone and don't fall into these technicalities. You're only putting your mind into this anxiety mode whether the purchase you made was worth it or not. This is a great phone and I love it and I've come from 1+, Samsung, Moto (Google owned Moto), Nexus and even Pixels.
Even when using an iOS device side by side, I can definitely feel there's a difference, it is certainly better.
But I'll talk about 2 issues first.
1. But sometimes, the touch doesn't work (like it needs grounding), like when my phone is lying flat on a certain bedsheet, I can't casually swipe, I need to hold it in my hand.
2. And long swipes need some polishing (software side) to be more natural, e.g. when u swipe up from launcher to open app drawer, u need to move ur thumb straight up, instead of slight natural diagonal movement else it may just swipe to next home screen or vice versa: opening app drawer instead of swiping to next screen. I come from color os, and it is certainly tuned to be more natural. (less feature rich than MIUI but better polished than other iOS inspired OEM skins)
Now pros:.
Touch responsiveness is way better than most android phones (I have used upto Samsung S10+ ceramic edition, oppo reno 3 pro) and iphone 8, X, XS series (before Apple fans flame, I'm talking just about responsiveness and accuracy).
You definitely feel it with gaming, no sensitivity settings is wrong (no aiming stutter or slip) infact it'll register the slightest movement and adjust your aim accordingly. Sometimes when my hands get sweaty I turn down the touch sensitivity in game space to 70 percent.

Hey, just wanted to know a few things, animations and transitions are jittery for some apps in MIUI, since you suggested arrow OS, does that get rid of these jitter and animation lags? Or is it a bad chip (which i doubt)
Moreover, does Arrow OS use MI Camera? Since it has option to use all sensors, do we get that in arrow? How is overall smoothness and camera quality?

If you want jitter free experience, use ArrowOS + F1xy kernel.
F1xy custom kernel is focused to bring lower latency and reduce jitter as much as possible.
And no, ArrowOS doesn't use ANX Camera (Miui Camera). You need to flash it yourself.
crDroid comes with it if you want it.
I guess if you're here and changing from China spying crap rom and unlocking bl and bypassing ARP, no..
You will probably not find a better working drvier/setup for that if you install unofficial roms. Meaning you can expect lower performance on these pieces of hw. For the cpu, some unofficial roms can have better performance (not sure about camera and screen drivers, dependents if manufacturer releases src code).

That's a lie if I ever saw one, I have ArrowOS with it's stock kernel (using MIUI's kernel sources) and everything works better than stock rom. Not to mention devs can implement driver updates for Qualcomm/Adreno chipset (AKA CAF versions) which improve performance much better than Stock ROM (manufactures usually take months to implement new drivers, if they ever do).

Just to add that it's also dependable to skill of developers. We are covered here since we have so many talented developers, so you can except great ROM performance + battery life. Custom ROM experience is also dependable on quality of sources and Xiaomi is not the best in this regard compared to Google, but it gets the job done. Also good developers modify sources in a good way, which leds to improvement in source code.
All in all, good developer for the device can make custom ROM which performs much better than stock ROM. Especially MIUI.

Need Touch Screen Corner Resistance Feature like miui
