This mod for CM11 on moto_msm8960 brings back the classic sdcard mount we know from devices like the Nexus One.
No more cluttering of /data with files which should go to sdcard.
Features:
- External sdcard mounted as /sdcard
- Internal memory fully available for /data
Installation:
- Have a nandroid backup of /boot and /system at hand if something goes wrong
- Simply flash the zip over your existing CM11 installation
- Wipe data is not necessary but will help if you have problems.
Deleting only the data of the concerned apps should be sufficient. (Only apps storing data on sdcard are effected)
- Files which were on the emulated sdcard can be found at /data/media/0. This is also the location where you have to put your zip files to be able to flash them with OpenRecovery.
Method:
Adjusting of following CM11 files to be in line with Nexus One example configuration according to:
http://source.android.com/devices/tech/storage/config-example.html
boot.img
- init.qcom.rc
- fstab.qcom
framework-res.apk
- storage_list.xml
See my github for details: https://github.com/S-I-M-O-N/android_device_motorola_moto_msm8960
Disclaimer:
This was developed and tested on a Photon Q but should work on all moto_msm8960 devices with CM11.
I cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong while using this mod.
Thank you to everyone this work is based on: Cyanogenmod team for providing CM11, Google for providing Android and everybody else

I will try to keep this thread updated and provide a flashable zip for the latest CM11 snapshot.

Any updated version for CM11 M8 build?
I am downloading M8 right now. Expect an update within the next days.
Until then it should be relative safe to flash the M7 sd-mod over CM11 M8, you will just miss the updates concerning the kernel and framework.
EDIT: Well, it's not. Stuck in Boot. Stay tuned for an update.

Yeah..I've tried it over M8 and my phone stucked in bootloop. Thanks for your work. I've missed my sdcard as primary storage since JellyBean days. I'm glad I can use my 32gb sdcard usefully.

Thanks a lot..Downloading it now.
Hmm so I'm guessing the likelihood of this working on nightly builds isn't good?
You could give it a try.
Nandroid backup boot and system, then flash the mod.
If it screws up, just go back and restore boot and system.
Apart of that I think we should wait a few days to see if we get a moto_msm8960_jbbl M9 build. If yes I will, make the patch for it. If no, I will pick the latest nightly.
After reading that we won't get a M9 build I made an update for nightly 20140814.
It seems the ramdisk is growing and abootimg was already complaining that it was too large. I had to delete copyrights and disclaimers to squeeze out some bytes. I hope that this trend does not continue, otherwise I need to find other means to bild the boot.img.
Regards
Simon
Please...!
A new version.
The M10 CM is out now for the Photon Q!

Are there any issues with this mod when flashing a new ROM? Say you're going from a snapshot build to a newer snapshot build, or even from a snapshot build to to a stable build?
Flashing a new ROM will overwrite the mod. So you are using the emulated sdcard on internal memory. Apps which stored data on the sdcard will not find their data, just like when you install the mod the first time.
Nevertheless if you stick to CM11 snapshots for which the mod has been adapted and you flash another release, just flash the mod for this release while you are still in recovery and you will have no problems.
Made the mistake of installing a nightly restored my backup. But can't get the classic sdcard back. Have re flashed no joy. Is there a way to get it back, with out doing a clean install?
Did you create the backup including the mod?
Did you restore system and boot?
Did you try to just flash CM11 M11 + MOD for M11?
Do you have bootloops?
YDid you create the backup including the mod?
No
Did you restore system and boot?
Not sure about the boot, will check.
Restored backup m11 and flashed sddcard mod.zip.
Do you have bootloops?
No
Might be a mute point.
The restore is eating my battery!
Doing a clean m10 updating to m11 Now.
Will install sdcard mod and see how it goes.
Thanks.
I should know here in the next 15 min.
OK!
With out flashing sdcard mod after m11 installed I now have
4 gig.
My guess is my back up was not m11 or JB bootloader?
Thanks for the fast reply!
The PQ has no KK bootloader, so every (working) ROM for the PQ is based on the JB bootloader.
As long as you haven't modified your /system after updating to M11 and flashing gapps and sdcard_mod, you should be fine by just do the same again.
But it's always risky, from a nightly to a snapshot. Downgrades are also risky and might not work.
You might just wait until M12 comes out and use your backup to restore it.
M12 is here

How do we boot into recovery? I flashed the recovery but when I try to boot into recovery from fastboot it always boots to the main OS
Can't boot in this recovery after installing it.

Will be fixed as long as I have time, now I'm too busy
How long will this command take? All I get is < waiting for device >
Had to do this first:
- Connect phone while normally booted
- Run the installer that is automatically mounted on windows
- click 7 times the buildnumber in "about phone" to enable developer options
- enable usb debugging in developer options
Edit:
Installed your cyanogenmod build, but still have a problem. Cant reboot to recovery. What I have to do is get into fastboot, flash TWRP, reboot to recovery.
Edit2:
I can boot to recovery, only if usb is connected.

- Install the drivers ( http://pdanet.co/a/ )
- Unzip the ZIP
- Start the file "Install_TOOL.exe"
- Coose 2: "Install TWRP 2.8.6.0"
- Wait for restart to the new TWRP (in nubia style!)

A friend of mine received this smartphone this week and he's unable to get twrp installed, tried many different methods, but apparently the touchscreen doesn't work when he needs to press an option. He did it through Win XP, maybe that's the reason why... I'm nervous as well as I ordered the phone as well through the same seller...
I really don't know why it's not working...

I hadn't seen that you had already fixed the typo, sorry for that.
I've told my friend about the new TWRP and asked him about the path - if he asks me where to find this on the phone, where should he look for, or can this be found through Windows as well ?
I'll keep you informed about my findings.
Thanks again,

Hey!
I got it working on my Z9 max
Didn't work though through root path on internal storage, had to run it through another path on my pc.
Fiddling around a bit these days before I try out your Cyanogen Rom.
Btw, do you have a proper link (nubia official) for the download of the new Nubia UI?
I tried to locate it on nubia.cn, but I'm unable to find it...
I'd really appreciate if you could reveal the link
Cheers

Thanks a ton dianlujitao,
Sorry for late reply, I'm currently on vacation, I'll do it when I return.
I got a couple of questions regarding this. If you can and if you want, I'd appreciate if you could give them a look, no hurry. I'm very well aware that this is your time, and I have no right to request anything.
I just don't want to brick the phone
1. Can I use your Twrp to make a Nandroid backup?
2. Can I use your Twrp to flash it (The Brush file) or should I do it with default recovery?
3. As per instructions, it says that I should unroot it and reset to factory values.... Is this necessary?
4. Where does your Twrp save the backup, to internal memory or SD card?
Last but not least, I have to say that so far the phone has impressed me, specially the camera, awesome pics.
I let the device store them on the SD card, and sometimes I have seen (4 times to be precise) that the pic is corrupt. Would you know if this is fault of the phone or of the SD card?
Cheers,
Ken

These are stock-based recovery flashable ROMs I've cooked up for the Cube iWork 10 Flagship (aka iWork 10 Ultimate), device i15-T(D).
They are all based on the stock build i15-T_V1.0_20160302, kernel version 3.14.37-x86_64-L1-R429 Wed Mar 2 18:22:46 CST 2016
I have tested these on my stock i15TD purchased directly from cube-tablet.com
If you are stock, unrooted with stock recovery you will need to go here first before you can use these.
WARNING: Flash at your own risk!!!
Make a full backup before flashing!
I would recommend wiping dalvik, cache, data & system before flashing.
For the Odexed versions a factory reset (dalvik, cache & data) will probably work. You might even be able to get away with a dirty flash if you're coming from the same stock build & kernel version, let me know
OTA: Will probably not work with the Stock Odexed version (I wouldn't try it anyhow) and definitely not work with any of the others as I've removed all the OTA stuff in them.
Descriptions
Stock Odexed NoRoot 552.4 MB
-Nothing has been touched here except for changing default location/language, so it boots up in English
Stock Odexed Debloated NoRoot 484.7 MB
-Same as above except debloated
Stock Odexed Debloated Root 489.0 MB
-Same as above and rooted
Stock Deodexed Debloated Root 417.03 MB
-Fully deodexed, debloated and rooted
Stock Deodexed Debloated Root NoGoogle 368.06 MB
-All the stock google stuff has been removed so you can flash a real gapps of your choice. (I have tested opengapps pico and recommend)
Instructions (remember, make a full backup first!)
Boot into TWRP, wipe dalvik, cache, data & system
Flash ROM
If you didn't wipe system in step 1 then go back to main screen, "Mount", select "system"
(if you're flashing the NoGoogle version, then flash gapps now)
Reboot
Enjoy
Thanks
@SuperR. -for the great kitchen

Sent from my OnePlus2 using XDA Labs
Turns out that build (20160412) is NOT lollipop 5.1.1, still 5.1. No big differences I can tell so far except for lack of play store/services and a bit less bloat. The boot animation is different (not Chinese cube one but text "TOPWING" ???). The device ID is also different.
I think I'll be holding off on making additional zips for this until there's a more serious and official update...

Hi jet, thanks for the tutorials!
I tried to install gapps but I get the error that there's insufficient storage available in system.
Did you get the same error? I'd like to use the stock installer.
According to the logs I have NO free system space.
Edit: I fixed it, might want to mention that you shouldn't forget to mount system!

Yeah, I didn't add it initially because if one wipes system before flashing then it's already mounted. It's the weird location of system partition on this tablet, opengapps (and supersu) install scripts can't mount it.
But, yeah it should be there as you pointed out, so I added it.
Thanks, and enjoy!

Ow, yeah, I had to because TWRP has issues remounting an otg mounted storage device, that might explain why it failed for me.
I just tried installing xposed and it got stuck in a bootloop, not a big issue as I've backed it up and haven't done much so far, but do you know if it's possible to install it?
And, heck, because I'm asking anyway, have you tried reinstalling windows? I'd like to install windows 10 enterprise on this tablet. Might save me the trouble from going to techtablets.

I haven't tried xposed yet myself on this tab, but one guy over on my howto thread mentioned he tried and also ended up in a bootloop. Too much other stuff going on now but when I get around to xposed, if i get it working, I'll post here.
Sorry, can't help you on the windows side at all, in fact this iWork 10 is the first windows machine I've had in years, just android & ubuntu for me these days...
The people at techtablets are more keyed into the windows side of this tab, especially Laura. I'd recommend asking there.
It's the same tablet this and mine that have a Dual Boot (Windows 10 + Android 5.1.1).
And guys, any web page to follow curiosity of this tablet? mods, ROMS, etc...
What I *really* dislike about this tablet:
NO XPOSED... always destroys the bootup of android...
sdk22 x86 is the correct version, but not supported by this tablet... meh

I've had similar before on other devices, flashing a different opengapps (like nano instead of Pico) or older opengapps or even other gapps package has usually worked... Note that you would want to reflash the rom and immediately following flash the gapps

Thanks to @chenxiaolong DualBoot is possible on LG G5 (root and twrp needed)
Original thread for DualBoot patcher is located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534
Bugs report or questions for the developer please post in original thread.
Questions about how to use DualBoot you can ask here.
Download patcher app from here:
https://dbp.noobdev.io/files/9.1.0....tcherAndroid-9.1.0.r38.g5d5b401-snapshot.apk
DualBoot Patcher is still under development, expect bugs.
I'm not responsible for bricked phones.
You have been warned!
How to:
First make nandroid backup in TWRP!
1. Install DualBoot patcher apk, open an app and go to ROMs section
2. Set the current running kernel as kernel for Primary ROM (app will ask you to do so)
3. Download CM13 or any different AOSP ROM, Gapps and go to "Patch zip file" section.
Use minimal Gapps if you installing on stripped /system partition.
4. Patch the CM13 ROM zip (for LG G5 choose "secondary") and patch Gapps ("secondary")
a) Go to settings of the app and install Boot UI.
25.11.2016 -> Note for H830 users,go with data slot instead of secondary until the secondary slot is fixed.
5. Flash patched ROM and Gapps in TWRP or ROMs section in DualBoot app, click red button to do it.
6. Go to ROMs in the app and tap on the rom you want to boot
7. Reboot
You second system should start. (if you get a black screen, wait a bit, first boot usually takes a while)
How to switch between ROMs:
1. Both ROMs needs DualBoot patcher installed, in "ROMs" section you should see ROMs list.
2. To switch the ROM simply tap Primary or Secondary, tick indicator should appear on ROM.
3. Reboot
To check partition sizes and free space, go to "Free space" section.
App sharing probably still don't work, I didn't try it but most likely after you try it you will need to restore your nandroid.
Location explanation :
Primary: This is normally used for installing a zip to the primary ROM. It is not required, but is strongly recommended because it has code to prevent the zip from inadvertently affecting other ROMs.
Dual: Dual/Secondary is the first multiboot installation location. It installs to the system partition. This is a good spot for installing a second ROM because it doesn't take any space away from the internal storage.
Multi-slots: There are 3 multislots: multi-slot-1, multi-slot-2, multi-slot-3. These install to the cache partition. This is specifically for devices that have a massive cache partition.
Data-slots: There can be an unlimited number of data slots. These install to the data partition and eat up space on the internal storage. This is useful for devices where the system partition is nearly full and the cache partition is tiny. These slots are named "data-slot-[id]", where "id" is something you provide in the app.
Extsd-slots: There can be an unlimited number of extsd slots. These install to the external SD card, which is useful as it keeps the ROMs off of the internal storage. Note that the ROM's data files are still stored on the data partition.
Lockscreen security solution:
On all ROMs you must set lockscreen to have the same lock e.g. a pattern lock with the same pattern on each ROM to unlock.
The issue has something to do with the secondary ROM overwriting the gatekeeper.pattern.key file, so then when you switch to primary you have a pattern lock but with no correct pattern even set, hence why the pattern you enter is always incorrect.
Steps:
1. Set lockscreen security (what ever you decide to use, fingerprints, pin, password, pattern) in the secondary rom first.
2. Set the exact same lockscreen security in the primary rom
3. That's it,now it works on both roms
Tested on LG G5 H850, I'm running stock lg rom as Primary and CM13 as Secondary.
Tested stock roms with aroma installer, doesn't work as secondary, only as primary.
Tested on LG G5 H830, everything works now.
Stock can't be dual booted as secondary due to size,so go with other slots like, for example, data slot
If in app flashing doesn't work, use twrp to flash the patched ROM and the patched gapps
Since the 25.10.2016 the SD card bug on second rom is fixed, link above updated.
Since 25.11.2016 LG G5 H830 is supported, thanks to jeffsga88 for helping with that.

Awesome, thanks....

When trying to flash the cm13 dual from twrp it told me that the file was for h850 (which makes no sense because the rom clearly supports h830).

The issue is not with rom, the issue is with the patcher. I believe that as of now, the patcher supports only the h850 version.
If the issue is with the patcher then I'm sure it won't be that hard to fix.
Yeah I've just looked at the zip created by the app, it automatically sets it for h850. Thanks for letting me know

I had a problem with aroma,so if you have stock zip without aroma you can patch it and use it as secondary

OK thanks!
So if I wanted it to work on h830, I would have to port the patched ROM to work on h830?

I would assume so, the rom would have to be compatible with H830. From what i can tell the Boot Patcher allows you to patch a rom to work on a different partition/slot. It uses a certain set on scripts before to allocate where the files will go then the rom is installed as it normally would.
Please correct me if im wrong anyone
Hi, is the version here different in any way from the original version? Thanks

Version that is posted here has support for LG G5,and since lg g5 is not fully supported (sdcard issue) it's not added to the original version. That's the difference
Thanks. That's what I thought. I hope that this version in some point will also support h830.
Any news about his being available on the h830?

I can't say how's the battery life.
I just flashed this ROM and after flashing Magisk 12, Gapps and restoring some settings from Titanium Backup, I've got areally nasty overheating on my device and just went back to my previous ROM (AOSiP).
Btw, I've been using Dual Boot Patcher app to test all recent ROMS (RR, AoSiP, Validus...). Good app to switch between ROMs easily (screenshot attached).

Can you share the thread you followed for dual boot? Or write a thread on it? I've dual boot patcher apk, ends up booting into recovery every time I want to boot into secondary rom. If the ramdisk file of primary rom is modified, it also ends up booting into recovery.
I remember having some partition encryption issues when I first started using DBP and I had to format data/system partition to remove encryption.
As you can see from the screenshot I posted, I've been using all ROMs as "DATA" slots. Secondary ROMs don't work for me either.

I have data partition formatted, phone shows not encrypted now. I'll try installing in data slot.
No extra tweaks are required then?
Just patch the ROM zip to a new data slot and flash it from TWRP.
And remember to patch all zip files you want to flash on the ROM (GAPPS, SuperSU/Magisk) to the same slot you used for the ROM.

Hi. Im new to flashing and I want to use the dual boot. Where can I download it and how can I use it? A thread for our device would be nice. Thanks
I tried to download the latest build from qwertytom.cloudapp.net but the site can't be reached. Is there another download link?
