Hey there,
I am looking for a way to remap my power button to launch a shortcut.
My goal is to make Tasker hibernate all 'greenified' apps, and turn off the screen when I press the power button.
This way I can turn off automatic hibernation in Greenify, and only 'greenify' apps when I explicitly turn off my screen, and not when it times out.
I've looked into several apps, but they all lack the ability to either remap the power button, or making it launch a shortcut.
I am running CyanogenMod 11 on my Samsung GT-I9300.
Hope someone could help me out!
You really don't want to do anything that would make you use the power button more. That is the first thing to die and you've got problems if it does. Much better to map a soft button or gesture to do what you want.
I thought about your comment, but it won't make me use the button more, because I use it anyway to lock my phone.
But nevertheless I could try to use it less. The problem is I use touch to wake the screen, and only if I lock it with the power button touch wil not wake the screen. If I wear the phone in my pocket, my leg wakes the screen trough the pocket.
I now made two profiles. One with proximity sensor, screen off and orientation upside down. And one the same, but orientation face down.
This way it will greenify apps when I put the phone in my pocket, standing or sitting.
I might look into gestures because then the sensors won't have to run when the screen is off saving me some precious juice am I right?
Still like to hear about remapping hw keys.
you can remap your power button here
System/usr/keylayout
then edit with text editor "Generic.kl"

Can I also map a shortcut to it? And do I have to remap again after an update?
GT-i9300, CM10.2, Googy-Max kernel
I accidentaly found out that there's a difference between the 'Tasker lock system' and the 'Secure Settings lock' actions.
With the Tasker action, touch to wake still works, but with the Secure Settings one it won't.
I now set up two profiles, screen on + proximity + upside down and screen on + proximity + face down. These greenify all apps and turn my screen off with Secure Settings. Also long pressing the menu (touch)key will do the same.
This way, when I put the phone in my pocket it will lock the screen and not wake up when still in my pocket.
But if I leave it face up and the screen times out my apps won't be greenified. I also made a double tap gesture in Nova Launcher that turns my screen off by the default Tasker system lock, so I can wake it by touch and my apps won't greenify.
Not really the idea that I started with, but maybe even better!

Is there a root method you could implement to make it so the remap doesn't make the scrolling stutter?
For remapping you can just select one item at the same time. Why do you use checkboxes instead of radio buttons?

You can try to uninstall the app restart the phone and reinstall. Sometimes android keeps services even if app is disabled. Also make sure to disable all other Bixby apps in accessibility.
when i hit the bixby button for a split second the Hello Bixby screen appears. I have not set it up yet, is this something i need to do to avoid seeing that screen for that fraction of a second?

i have no issues but what i was asking, is because i never actually set up bixby is that the reason i am getting that screen? if setting up bixby removes that screen i'll do it.
This working after the update?
Why does it take me having to double press the Bixby button to get it to respond (was the same prior to BXActions install too)
Side note, works in assigning it to Google Assistant

Normally only single press is needed.
Did you try to restart your phone already?
Did you install latest updates of bixby and S8 firmware?

Remapping or deactivate bixby button when phone is locked doesnt work for me. Bixby comes, although it is deactivated when phone locked.
and if I say same action when phone locked or unlocked bixby is started too, although i have remapped to google assistant.
Is there a solution?
Suggestion: orientation lock/unlock.

does it need root?
edit: nevermind
No root needed.
There are many apps that do the same. However, I guess even this one has the same problem as all others:
When the phone is in sleep mode the buttons won't work, hence, the flashlight won't shine...
As stated you need to run aod to use buttons at screen off.
I just love this app.
Will it work on other phone, besides Samsung also? Oneplus 6 in particular...It would be option I will miss the most if it wouldn't work:/ Ofcourse there is no bixby button, but can you remap volume buttons on other android devices also?
Hey,
What's up with the accessibility permissions?? Why would the app need to know what apps I am using and what I type??

Thanks for sharing, just why does this app require that many permissions?
They are needed to allow you to launch any of that different actions (30+)
If you have questions to any permission just ask.

You need to uninstall the app, enable bixby (only the button), and reinstall. That should do the trick.

Ok got it. Thanks
Love this app. Works perfectly on my 9+
Worked great on my unlocked s9+ thank you! Make sure to run the bixby setup to get flash light to work when screen is off.
Mine is having a problem with the button mapped as a Home Button when I have Nova and a few screens, when set to Home, the one in Nova marked as Home, sometimes will just go to one of the other screens rather than the Nova "Home" set one.
Installed it from play store. works very smooth and no delay.
awesome app!!!
Tried out this app last night and it caused AOD to stop working. Anybody else seeing this issue?

Its a bug in Samsungs Oreo firmware.
I guess you used the Screenshot action. That causes AOD to crash. Still investigating if theres a workaround from my side.
Hi XDA community,
Yesterday I was remapping and customizing my first Samsung device. I don't know what I did either on Good Lock or on the settings or anywhere else, but somehow I set my side key to flashlight when holding down the side key button. I remember changing side key button to Power off menu. Please help, this is driving me nuts . Thank you in advance.

Look for "Double Press" using the settings search tool,it'll take you right to it & turn it off.

Hi thank you for your response. My Double Press is currently set to Quick launch camera, I'm good with this. But the Press and hold is set to Power off menu, but instead it turns on the flashlight,
Thank you I found it. I set in bixby routines. lol

I was just getting ready to suggest going into the Bixby settings, as I didn't find anything in any of the GoodLock modules that I have installed.
I currently have Bixby disabled by a desktop client (ADB AppControl), otherwise, that would have been my next move.
Glad you got that resolved.
