Smartphone interface simulators for training? - General Questions and Answers

Hello there peeps, I need to pick your brains here
I am looking for a tool that lets me simulate smartphone UI menus on a PC. The idea is to help other navigate their menus when they call us, the tech team.
Rather than having one of each model phones on our desk, what can we use to just load up a detailed mock-up of a smartphone's UI on our screens?
Thanks in advice guys x x

[Q] Android application to wireless control a powerwall

Hi all,.
I've been set a project to design a basic application for our powerwall (28 connected high res monitors) and design an android application to control the powerwall through the android phone.
Im told the powerwall must use OpenGL..what does this exactly mean?
Can anyone run me through the stages ill need to go through and how i would get my andorid application to talk to the linux pc?
More details of the system or implementation can be provided if you need it.
Any help big or small would be amazing.
Thankyou,
Tom

Game devs: Where's my Keyboard and Mouse compatability?

Andy has a problem. Game devs can help. Now that tablets are powerful and cheap enough, many users are using them with keyboard and mice to have a small desktop experience. Problem is most devs only write code for touch controls. This makes trying to play a game with keyboard and mouse a real chore.
There are a couple of ways to do that all based as far as I know, on having to buy someones software that will help you configure the mouse and keyboard to work with your game. It should NOT be this way. All Andy games should have both touch controls and keyboard and mouse controls enabled. It's silly not to do so - you limit your potential sales which is dumb.
Come on guys.. whats the deal? Why haven't we seen a push to add this functionality to most Andy games? Is it simply because up till now there hasn't been a lot of call for non touch screen peripherals? It seems to me, when small Android Phones morphed into it's sister product, larger more powerful Android Tablets - Android developers failed to make a distinction and treat their apps accordingly. Now there is and will be an ever growing distinction between the two because tablets are getting bigger and more powerful. Will you guys be willing to do this, now that keyboard and mouse use on Android is becoming more wide spread?
You guys better consider this - there are tablets now being sold that will dual or triple boot between Android, Windows and almost any version of Linux you can imagine. People will not only want but Need this functionality in games who choose not to rely so heavily on the touch controls.
Console OS (looks like they are partnering with Intel) is shipping in Dec on real tablet hardware and has a free version PC users can download. Console OS is an Android fork that's designed for gaming and to dual boot with Windows - but it's designed to be powerful enough in style and function to replace your everyday desktop. That's impressive. This will be huge and cause Android Games to require mouse and keyboard support even more. We know the public wants this because this was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign raising 75.000 dollars.
A simple enough solution to help get more sales for your games is a no brainer seems to me. The Windows and Linux guys will play their games with mouse and keyboard on that same hardware, but they will not buy the Android games. You will lose half your new potential customer base. This will also encourage the user to stay within that Windows or Linux system and Not switch so much into Android. Not doing this can actually hurt the Android market share and use!
What do you think?
(This thread is not a question but hopefully will start a serious discussion on this issue. Mods please feel free to move this to the Gaming subforum.. I think you have one but I cannot seem to find it since I signed up.)

[Q] Newbie: simplest way to make Phone apps Android TV compatible

Hi - I'm a newbie and frankly knows next to nothing about Android app development. There are lots of great apps out there that would be great to use on the big screen via Android TV (the only device out there now is the Nexus Player), but unusable on Nexus Player because they requires either gesture or mouse. This leads me to think that there must be a relatively easy way to take the APK and update the code so that I can use the d-pad remote for the Nexus Player.
Can anyone point me the way?
Thanks!
Frank
Hello there, I'm also new to this website and as a newbie, I wanted also to gain some ideas or concepts that could enhance my skills and knowledge on web application, web designing, web development, mobile application and android. Hope to get along with you guys.. Thanks!

[Completed] integrating android into factory touch screen?

Hi Guys,
This is my first post but I've used lots of the information on this website over the years. I build custom automotive interiors and have in the past 5 years integrated dozens of android and ios systems into cars. I'm trying to figure out a way to skip all the fabrication of dash bezels by directly integrating into the existing factory lcd touch screens.
I would like to use the existing touch screen in my Ford Edge to interface with an android tablet.
Ideally I'd like to take an existing tablet or phone that I own (Galaxy tab 2 10.1 or Galaxy s4 phone) and send the touch and video information to my stock Ford Screen
CarPerformance .se has a kit that includes an android system with a board that switches the source being sent to the screen with the push of a button allowing you to switch between the Ford information screen, android computer with touchsceen interfacing and video inputs
below is a link to the install instructions and a video of its operation
carperformance.se/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/My-ford-touch-Android-install-manual.pdf
carperformance.se/?product=2001-2014-ford-edge-android-system
(links are broken because I'm too new to post links)
I would like to know if there is a prebuilt video switcher similar to the one above that would allow me to switch between sources and woulld allow me to connect one of my android devices
The reason I want to do this on my own instead of ordering the above product is that it runs older android software and does not have cellular capability.
if someone could point me to the right information I would greatly appreciate it as I'm sure these screens are fairly universal however I don't know what exactly to search.

Greetings and welcome to assist. It sounds like a very interesting concept but there is very little information on this type of thing on xda. I'd try asking in this forum

New to development. Don't know where to start

Hello everyone.
I have had an idea for an app. It's not entirely original, and I am completley green when it comes to app development, but I'm a keen "skills collector" so wouldn't mind learning how to do this. (the end product for me is just the bonus) where would I start?
I am looking to create basically a "control" surface, Similar to any of the Remote Keyboard apps , or any of the "game controllers" but for a specific game, with unique, specific graphics (animations would be a plus. All I would need (yeah I know it's probably not a simple endeavour) is to have custom graphics, trigger keyboard inputs. (analogue control would be a bonus) does anyone have any idea of where to start learning / app builder for someone so new,? I understand I would have to have a client on the PC, would I start by learning how to create that? Or start on the Android side? Basically, What I want to learn how to do, Is make Buttons, Press keystrokes on a PC from an android device.
In my limited Research, Downloading Android Studio, I came across my first Hurdle. Do I Choose to learn Kotlin or Java?
I appreciate your time. Thank you.
