[Debranding] * Samsung galaxy s21 * android 11 * possible? - General Questions and Answers

Hi
Is there any effective method for debranding Galaxy S21 with android 11?
I have CSC from Play (Polish operator) and I would like to upload XEO. I've tried odin and samkey and despite the "positive" completion of the operation (both applications say so), the Play brand is still on the phone.
thanks

Android's device related settings all are located in system file named build.prop
Example:
ro.product.brand=generic
ro.product.manufacturer=generic
ro.product.device=generic
ro.build.product=generic
If your phone's Android is rooted then you can change these settings according to your needs.

So it is not possible without rooting? Like the good old days... odin?

This only works if you're rooted.
1. Go find a file manager. ES File Explorer, Astro, preferably Root Explorer.
2. Go to your root directory (not sd card) and find your build.prop
3. Find out the model number of the Galaxy S i9000
4. Open build.prop and find where it says your device's model number.
5. WRITE IT DOWN (so you can change it back eventually).
6. Replace your device model name with the Galaxy S i9000.
7. profit.
That SHOULD work. Hope I helped

[Q] [ROM request] Madecom Freeway Tab 7.0

Hello,
it turns out, that the producer of tat handy tablet/navigation dropped support for our devices. Last available version of android was 4.0.3 and has many bugs including spontaneous restart while sleeping or wrtie access blocking to internal SD card. Without those problems the device is very nice and as navigation with i.e. Sygic on board works very well.
So, I am not a developer. The device is not very popular around the globe. It may be accessible in Poland only, therefore there aren't any alternative versions of that firmware.
Fortunately, the producer gave all the tools needed to manually upgrade the firmware to 4.0.3. It is the PhoenixCard writer and ROM image. The device upgrade process itself is then very simple after that.
Can you help me and many other polish users of that device? It would be nice to correct those two errors mentioned above (reboots and r/w problems) but much better it would be to have any stock android without any hidden menus or features (perferably 4.2.2+), or even better, any version of super ROMs.
Any help would be great.

Samsyng Galaxy Trend Duos GT-S7562C - changing CSC

Hi, XDA-Developers,
I am back from China where it bought this little phone (which is DUOS - means supports two SIM Cards):
The phone is China Unicom Branded and updates in KIES just fine:
AP: S7562CZNUANB1
CP:S7562CZNUANB1
CSC:S7562CCHUANB1
It does not seem to be SIM locked, since local SIM cards seem to work fine:
As i am located in bulgaria and have two major problems:
1. Lack of any Google apps and services - no google maps, google play store..
2. Lack of any Bulgarian local settings (only English and Chinese).
It seems the ROM is multi-CSC - displayed when starting in recovery mode.
However all operations related to changing CSC or installing google apps seem to require rooting the phone, which i am not able to find any reliable information. Any information i find is about GT-S7562 which is pretty much different phone it seems.
So i am a bit stuck on what i can do.
There is mentioning that you can flash CSC from another region using ODIN, however i could not really find reliable information about this and source of proper CSC files.
Best Regards, Chavdar
I have this phone and I can help you with number 1. Unfortunately number 2 can't be fixed because this phone was only released in China and as such it only has 2 languages. If you still need help reply and I can guide step by step
Please advise steps of fixing number 1.
Thanks.

First steps before flashing a Samsung LDU

I have an (encrypted) Samsung tablet which still runs Android 7.0. It is a WIFI-only LDU. Without a provider it never received the OTA's.
I'm preparing to flash to Android 9, but I am having some trouble. First, with identifying the CSC. The tablet has no dialer for the *#1234# code and the DRParser method
Open the calculator app, type (+30012012732+
From the DRParser Mode, type *#1234#
does not work. As the tablet has no provider, there also is no provider data in the About tablet menu. The downloader/recovery does not show the CSC either.
I have a couple of questions. Current FAQs or guides are welcome as answers.
> The Phone INFO Samsung app nowadays costs about €5. Does it still work? Is there some other method to get the CSC information?
> If I flash from Android 7.0 to 9, will the firmware update my installed apps to conform with Android 9 or should I factory reset and start clean?
> What is the most reliable method to backup and restore the entire tablet -- system, apps, cache and all -- in 2022?

IMO the only reliable method is doing an Online-NANDroid-backup, what requires Android is rooted - but this can be a temporary root.

Replacing a modem mbn file

I know it's possible but I'm not sure how to do it.
The Verizon modem file is loaded with coding to disable 5G, I know for a fact it has at least 2 methods to disable 5g, I found a way around those but still can't get it to connect to 5g but it sees the 5g is available. Which is the step in the right direction as stock mbn file with no mods results in the phone never seeing 5g as being available period.
So what I'm suggesting might work is swapping the Verizon modem mbn file with one from a phone that works on Verizon's 5G,like a s20 or similar or perhaps the Verizon's UW model also(heard the chipset needs to be the same on the device's)
Can anyone assist? Or point me in the right direction???
I think I have the same issue now. Verizon, I assume, somehow disabled the 5G functionality after some sort of update and I can't get it back. I use T - Mobile.
this may help https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-fix-enable-5g-and-dss.4206461/ (look in other OnePlus phones like 10 or 8t )
After a bit of trial and error, I got 5G to work again on my device (IN2019). I had to replace the carrier_policy.xml files with another one from XDA in order to enable the network again.
@intheb0x Have you found a solution to this? I am interested in the same thing, I have a Korean S20 that does not have the info for North American/US NR5G bands. Other than software/firmware differences the Korean S20 is identical to the US versions, even the pit files are the same when examined with PIT Magic.
I've unpacked various modem images from XAA and TMB roms and then compared to Korean (KOO) roms and found the 549_10_0.mbn and 549_11_0.mbn to be missing a lot of data on the Korean roms. Looking at these files with a hex editor I can see that the US roms definitely have information regarding additional bands.
I have tried copying over the files and repacking the modem.img but the phone fails to load the files I copy. I believe this is because they are signed with a different signature than the Korean files.
I'm wondering if there is a way to disable signature verification on the modem files, maybe something like this?:
[Magisk MODULE] Patch SecureFolder - Disable Signature Verification - Flag Secure - Biometrics after reboot
SAMSUNG GENERAL PATCHER V2.2 SUPPORT: TELEGRAM CHANNEL - TELEGRAM GROUP - SUPPORT ME ABOUT THIS: Magisk module to automatically patch the services.jar of Samsung devices, based on Dynamic Installer The compatibility is relative but Android...
forum.xda-developers.com
I know I can edit the policy.xml with tools like QPST, EFS Explorer, QFIL but I have yet to find anywhere that I can load the additional info for these bands.
Any help would be much appreciated
