Hello everyone. My first post ever, so I apologize in advance if I miss a rule.
I recently got a new phone, a Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC. Previous one was a pocophone F1, and I was extremly happy with it and its battery life. Now, this new phone, while it does have a huge battery and charges fast, I have the feeling it is actually lasting much less longer than the previous pocophone F1. From the battery usage screen, about 60% of the usage is cause by the screen! Isn't this number enourmous? Could it be a faulty screen, so in that case, I should ask for a replacement? Thank you in advance!
Check if "wake screen for notifications" is on and disable it. Reduce screen timeout to 1 minute. Also use 60hz refresh rate.
It would be extremely unfair to compare the Poco F1 to the X3. It's a bigger screen, higher refresh rate. I currently have both phones and my X3 lasts significantly longer than the F1 (Even with a new battery.)

Thanks for the answer, I'll check that.
What battery usage do you get? What is the percentage of screen comsumption?
Light usage I get 13.2 hours Screen On Time.
Heavy usage with gaming I get around 8 hours.

I've heard that the display doesn't come set to wqhd+ out of the box. Do you think setting it to this will cause a huge battery drain?
If the S7 and S7 edge are any indication, it should knock about 30 minutes off of its usual 14-15 hour estimates.
The main reason, IMO, not to use QHD+ is that it's pretty much useless for every day usage unless you're using VR. And if you're using VR, your battery's pretty screwed anyway, lol.
Don't you wish thy we could hear from Samsung about this directly. Argh
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I hear the new display are more efficient than the S7 displays according to DisplayMate. FHD and QHD+ doesn't have a big difference on drain either.

That's true, also a more efficient SoC and new battery tech that should hold charge better over time. It should balance things out. Software optimisation also helps.

this has already been discussed in another thread.
independent results put the SOT battery life at 42 minites MORE than an S7E, and i believe the tests were run at QHD
S8 Plus battery drain
Hello,
I am using S8 plus (Exynos) with dual sim.
SIM 1 -GSM only- totally for voice calls
SIM 2 - LTE only - totally for data and rarely for calls
QHD+
Location Off
AOD ON
Bluetooth, NFC , smart sensors etc- OFF
No apps run in the background.
I do not use power saving mode.
Moderate user - Mostly texting, Facebook, Online games, Youtube, sometimes reading.
The stats show around 24 hrs remaining after a full charge.
The SOT experienced is around 3 hrs- 3.5 hrs which I think is less, considering that I am not a heavy user.
What I want to understand is, why are some users reporting ridiculous SOT (7-8 hrs) even with heavy usage?
Am I interpreting these stats incorrectly? Is my battery not good?
I have tried to clear cache partition, even formatted my phone sometime back, but still, it hurts to see a lower SOT and battery draining rapidly.
I don't intend to troll, just clearing my doubts.
Kindly suggest.
Thanks
Sahil
You should probably start a new post since this thread has been inactive for a few months and is specifically about battery drain and resolution settings.
On a side note I'm in the same range you are, my cell reception sucks at work so I'm assuming that's part of my battery drain too.
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Xiaomi Mi 5s, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 5s is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I love everything about this phone apart from the battery life which I was expecting more from. standby time is terrible on my previous phone I'd lose maximum 2% during the night but on this phone it isn't surprising to see 10% drain. The battery is large, the hardware isn't too demanding (1080p screen) so the only problem I see is the software but even after moving to lineage or rr my phone had only very small difference in battery life. the battery is my only only complaint.

Been using it for a few days now and there isn't much difference. I still lose more than 9% at night. Battery still sucks unfortunately. Hopefully there will be a kernel tweak or some other mod that can help.
it is a great phone indeed, i do love everything about it
good
The only word that say the pure meaning of having a Mi5s is "Awesome!"

I also had problems with standby drain. Yesterday I installed forcedoze and turned off the fingerprint reader. Now, I only have 2 percent battery drain during 9 hours which is very good.
Probably the best phone I've ever owned. My only real complaint is that the chin of the phone becomes uncomfortable after holding it one handed, right at the transition between the glass and the body. Other than that, I love it.
It is a balanced smartphone. With a good camera.
One less star because:
- Battery capacity
- Updates with delay. Currently Android 8.0
- The 800Mhz band is missing
- It does not have a wireless charge
I'm just curious what your screen on/screen off battery life is. I used AccuBattery and even though I know it's an approximation I do have a very significant standby drain even with force doze which is similar when I'm in airplane mode. So I'm curious whether the sensors etc. take that much energy on the OnePlus 6
I get 10,6%/h screen on which I very good actually but 3,5%/h screen off which is higher than on my OnePlus 5T which was 2%/h at max. Anybody having similar results? I don't like just measuring SoT as this can vary from day to day depending on the standby and usage time.
A little bit of listening to Music, mainly web browsing and a few normal apps as well as mostly on Wi-Fi here. Also currently running Havoc OS 2.0 14/11/2018 with Open Gapps 13/11/2018 and Smurf kernel 2.0.49t17 with battery profile.

I'm using the poco x3 pro global (6/128 variant) and i noticed today that when the battery percentage falls below 20%, it automatically turns dark mode on even when I don't turn the battery saver and dark mode on. Is there any fix for it?
You really don't want to use the battery below 20%.
Because of the lesser voltage there's less mAh's available than at a higher %/voltage.
It's also more stressful on the battery to charge it from those low levels.
My cutoff is 40%

Poco x3 pro doesn't have amoled screen. So, dark mode is useless there (instead dark mode on ips display takes more battery than standard mode , that's what I've heard in several places). That's why I'm asking for a way to disable it.

That's true, I see your point. I find it disorienting when crap like that is forced down my throat (lol, my theme for today).
It be easier just to stay out of the dead zone though.

Guess waiting for custom ROMs is my only option then. And I've heard it's good to charge the phone when it's down to 20-30% and not above so that's what I'm doing. But yeah i won't let it get below 20%

Li's have no memory like NiCads. The further you discharge or especially charge them, the more you stress them. Longer charge cycles cause more stress then shorter ones.
Somewhere in the 40-80% range is ideal...
How much battery life in real usage are you getting on the RN11P+/PX4P with SD695 & AMOLED display and how fast or slow does the 5000 mAh battery get depleted?
Hi,
I have a POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux) with MIUI 13 since March 24th and the battery usually lasts for up to 90h (~4 day) with my regular use.
On periods I use it more the duration goes down to ~72h.
I feel that it took few recharges to get that capacity but maybe it was because the first days I was playing more with it.
I'm really happy with it, I use to have a Redmi Note 7 with LineageOS and I'm happy with the change. The battery of the POCO feels to me that is a little better that the Redmi (when it as new).
Hope that LineageOS will be available at some point : )
I attach an screenshot of my last charge scoring almost 93h and a 10% of battery left.
Hope it helps : )

Since MAY24th ?? Yeah, back to the future
I usually use 30 - 40 % a day, with 3h SOT
