GT-N8013 stuck in reboot loop - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here's where I'm at...
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 shows for a few seconds, and then the tablet reboots itself. This will go on for infinity if I don't stop it.
I can access the download mode. So, I tried installing some custom roms, and the stock roms. I've tried on Odin 3.09 and the latest one (3.14?). Even though Odin always reports success, the evidence is to the contrary. No effect.
I tried flashing the latest TWRP. Even though Odin says success...no success.
I tried putting TWRP on an sd card, booting to TWRP, and upgrading from there. Even though TWRP says success...no success.
So, not only can I get no headway in fighting my problem, I can't even get an error message. Everything I try says it's successful, but I'm still stuck in the reboot loop as if I hadn't done anything.
I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.

Hi,
at first, I would recommend Odin 3.10, because newer version's aren't all compatible.

So you can boot into TWRP? Which version do you have installed?
Is it even possible to change the TWRP version through a direct TWRP flash?

I always understood it was, by flashing the *.img file. But, admittedly, it's been a couple of years since this last came up for me, so I may be remembering it wrong.
I have version TWRP 3.0.2.0

Soft bricked, but not easily recovered

So I've been play with Android for a few years now and I love it. Got the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 in the fall of 2012 and had a custom rom installed not long after. Periodically I check XDA to see if there is a new custom ROM I want to try. Finally there is, OMNIRom. It says I need a recovery image that can handle the new SELinux. After poking around for an easy way to update I findout that the goo.im has a new recovery that it will install. And that's where things go south. I installed the new TWRP v2.6.3.0 via the goo.im and then reboot into the recovery. I go to flash the new ROM and it fails. I try downloading the ROM again and flashing it. It fails again. Okay, shouldn't be a problem... I'll just flash my prior rom. It too fails. Uh-oh.... If I try to boot normally, it just loads directly to the faulty TWRP. If I try to boot to the bootloader so I can use Heimdall to flash over a new recovery, it boots to TWRP....
I found a new recovery in a ZIP format finally and tried to use that, but it fails too.
Any advice? Suggestions? Please help.

P5100 shows TWRP logo and resets

I just flashed many different versions of TWRP downloaded from their site(I got only the ones compatible with my P5100). After successfully flashing them all through Odin, I can't boot into recovery. The TWRP logo screen is shown and after 2 seconds the device reboots. I followed many guides, and they were all similar in this particular process. Am I missing something, or could there be anything wrong with my unit?

did you also installed a rom??
No. I'm running the stock rom, no root. I just wanted to get the twrp installed because I need to copy my personal files to an sd card. My stock rom is rebooting itself after completing the normal system startup. I can barely open any app. So I need to backup my files and do a factory reset. Any ideas? Thanks!
I think you need to get rid of TWRP and root the stock ROM, then flash TWRP using an app running on your tablet. Do not use a PC to flash the recovery. Also, if you are installing a zip, you must do it on the device, not through your PC.

That doesn't make sense. Odin exists for the exact purpose of flashing through a PC, in case your recovery or anything gets damaged.

I cant install TWRP on SM-P900 ;(

Hi
This is really frustrating. I own many Samsung devices and never had any issue installing twrp, so I am not a noob when it comes to firing up Odin and flashing the image however I am stuck with this device.
I used couple guides with no success. ;( I cant get rid of the Samsung recovery and replace with TWRP. Odin says success but that is just a lie.
I tried both the lollilop bootloader and the older one then TWP with various versions (3.1x , 2.8.x) No luck.
Can anyone please provide me "working files" with "simple steps" in case I am missing out on some minor details. This is SM-P900 Kitkat 4.4.2 version.
- I flash the bootloader using the BL slot in dl mode
- I reboot to downloader again and and install TWRP
- I type adb revoot recovery
Boom, I am back to frigging Samsung recovery
Hi ,
This is a follow up
The only guide that worked for me is this one. It might be helpful to others.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...guide-install-official-lollipop-p900-t3154362
I had trouble getting TWRP to take at first too. It seems Samsung overwrites the recovery upon rebooting so even though TWRP flashed successfully it just gets overwritten when the system restarts. The simple solution for me was to disable the Reboot option in Odin, install TWRP, manually shut down and then enter Recovery mode. Hope that helps. I came across this suggestion either in the thread linked to above or while googling.
Im installing into properly rooted and I have twrp 2.8.7. I want 3+ TWRP.
I flash with PDA/AP and with "autoreboot" unchecked. I power off and power+home+volUP for recovery.
Tablet enters a "enttering recovery" bootloop which can be only disrupted by going into power+home+volDWN to enter Download, and than I can flash with ODIN 2.8.7.
2.8.7 is the latest I can boot into. WHAT IS WRONG?!!!!!!!!! I lost hope, with flashing 100x
Did you try updating TWRP from inside TWRP?
Sent from my Samsung SM-P900 using XDA Labs
try do a full wipe from stock recovery . after that flash twrp selecting the ap and bl in ODIN twrp3.1....tar booth of them (AP & BL)
no no no i tried everything. but than I found out this post : https://s4.postimg.org/s3pel2ekd/this_guy.png and that solved the day!!
With p900 work perfect, but install hard. With this twrp 3.1 i install lineage 14.1, all works good.

Stuck on Boot screen after flashing TWRP

Hello,
I just flashed the latest ROM for the S8+ (AQL5) and that went well.
Afterwards I tried to flash TWRP, but now the phone is stuck on the Samsung screen.
I then followed the guide I found here to use the BL file of AQF7 in Odin and spam the Start button so I managed to get into TWRP.
Question is, what do I do next? I restart the system it's the same problem all over again.
No one explains anywhere what to do in TWRP to save the phone.
Can I remove TWRP or somehow save the phone (without wiping my data)
Please help
Can you get to download mode? Then go to ODIN and redo your flashing of the OS and then TWRP. After the flash of TWRP, immediately boot into TWRP, and do Verity if you want that, and your root, if not already done. Clear Dalvik/cache and reboot to system.
It is not uncommon for folks, following TWRP flash, to get stuck in boot loop, unfortunately. Can take a little time, but you will get through it and finally to System.
But I thought all new firmware versions are incompatible with TWRP and cause this error.
I might try to install TWRP again if I flash the latest compatible version (I think it's the F7 one).
Does "Verify" in TWRP make that annoying "Your phone is not verified" message go away? The only option is to Reset phone when that thing comes up and I don't want to do that.
I managed to get out of that by reflashing the AQL5 version and just not installing TWPR.
Kind of scared to retry because everything goes wrong when I try to follow the guides on here or youtube

GT-N8010 Stuck on linageOS bootscreen

Hi,
It has been a while since ive dealt with custom roms and im wondering if im forgetting something, what im experiencing is that no matter which linageOS rom i install i get stuck for hours on end on the linageOS booting screen. Ive been wondering if theres something like a verbose boot that could show me what is happening when booting. What ive been doing is Install the rom (wipve dev/cache) then install gapps (nano or full) then wipe dev/cahce and still getting the same result every single time.
Now i dont know how to proceed from here, my conclusion is either im doing something completely wrong or this device is not compatible with the 8013 roms however it says 801X all the files say 8013 after youve downloaded them. If another brain could shed some light on this that would be greatly appreciated
Greetings,
Jules
Firgured out my issue it was due to having TWRP 2.8 instead of 3.0, somehow TWRP cant flash it properly on version 3.
I'm havng the same problem, or was. For me too it has been awhile! I was able to boot finally by following these steps:
1. advanced wipe, everything but my ext sd card
2. install os rom zip
3. install gapps zip
4. reboot by selecting do NOT install supersu root or whatever it offered
Now though I'm in and can't download chrome though the play store so I'm about to reflash the stock rom gapps rather than the pico gapps.
just saw your reply - strange as i'm using 2.8 and can't figure out how to update my twrp as fastboot totally freezes
TWRP see twrp thread in development .
or twrp.me
Updates via zip or tar file .
Fastboot on Note 10 ??

@JJEgan when you say twrp updates via zip or tar, is this an automatic update? i also cannot seem to get past the lineage boot screen so not sure how to update it unless i can just drop it on the sd card.
No you update the file via Odin or TWRP .

Thanks. @JJEgan I was hoping you might be able to advise on my issue?
I have twrp 2.8 installed from when Blisspop was installed in 2015. It allowed me to wipe and proceed.
Using twrp i then installed Lineage lineage-14.1-20181103-TESTING-n8013, addonsu-14.1-arm-signed and open_gapps-arm-7.1-stock-20190403. These are the things I was able to make a guess that I needed based on reading here.
Problem: stuck at Lineage's logo boot screen
Mistakes I think I made from further reading:
- twrp 3.0 should be used to install ROM
- smaller gapps suite (nano) should be used
Obstacles:
- I can boot the 8013 to Odin Screen. I have Odin running on Windows 10. I have the driver for the 8013 installed in Windows that allowed me to drop the Rom and stuff onto the SD card. However, when I boot into Odin, nothing happens in Odin in Windows.
- Not sure what version of TWRP is really apporpriate
And overall, I'm just guessing about all of this. I understand "the answers are here" but there are millions of answers and I'm having problems deciphering which ones are correct.
Thank you so much. I would be most appreciative if you could point me to the correct twrp for the GT-N8013 and a guide to how to install it via Odin when TWRP is already present and if my other research is correct.
Either update through TWRP as twrp image or via Odin as TAR file .
<However, when I boot into Odin, nothing happens in Odin in Windows. >
You open Odin on windows put tar file in correct slot .
Boot to Download mode on tablet then connect usb cable
Odin press start.
