Hey so to start off I am not sure if this is the right thread to post this but here it goes.
I have a Samsung 43" 4K Smart LED TV. Model Code: (UN43MU6300). Current software version as of writing this on (6/21/21): ( T-KTMAKUC-1290.3 , BT - S).
I was wondering if their was any way of jailbreaking/modifying my TV to install 3rd party applications such as a cracked YouTube (YouTube Vanced).
I have Pi-Hole running on my network but even with all the ad blocking scripts i have for it, it does not stop ads from coming through on my Smart TV. If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it; thanks!

Until recently I was able to output HDMI from my Infuse to my small HD TV. With the latest update to the ATT Live TV bloatware, the ATT Live TV application will not run once an external HDMI cable is attached. I'm greeted with the new message "This application does not support HDMI output. Please unplug the cable" Mobi (the developer) confirmed this is a new "feature"
Thank you ATT. Anyone have any ideas for a workaround? I tried uninstalling updates, but the app just updated itself.

Disable automatic updates from the market page for the app, wipe all app data, disable cell data, turn off wifi, uninstall updates, then see if the app still works, then turn data back on. We really need someone to come up with a true mirroring kernel and still somehow support full hd from the video player. Like if we force 1080p res on,the whole ui and mirror that, let the screen, controller down, convert what it needs to. This no hdmi on,custom kernels stuff and apps having say over it's use is ridiculous. I wish there was an,easy way to fix it but the best devs haven't even gotten it working for gb. F-you Samsung!

Thanks, already tried that. When the Live TV bloatware app calls home to ATT, the program automatically updates to the latest version -- no joy. A low-res video out would be OK with me -- better than nothing.
Sucks - sell HD than cripple phone to kill it. This is only going to get worse since the T-Moble deal was killed -- more pressure on controlling limited bandwidth.
i never used that app anyway. but alot of this stuff has to do with studios and licences, since it is classified as a mobile device there is a different licence for the videos and the studios want to prevent piracy so they put pressure on those that buy the license. it sux but samsung cant use hdmi on there own all share app. if they had the license for non mobile you could output to a tv but not on the phone. its all legal garbage and we let them get away with it. the lod days of plugging in your vcr and recording anything you want are over, what the studios dont realize is they only give people more incentive to pirate by making it harder to share it legitamately amoungst your own devices. it just becomes easier to obtain it from an illegitamate source for free!
if my isp wasnt so ****ty id have a media server transcoding from a tv tuner card and streaming over the internet so that i could access it from anything with an html5 browser (like a slingbox but better). the only reason i dont is cuz i dont have the upload bandwidth.
GOOD NEWS, while i cant say i know why the s4 is stupid in the streaming department compared to the s3 heres a solution
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp&hl=en
this app allows you to connect to a dlna tv (obviously one that the previously couldnt s4 link with) via sharing the same wifi network connection and stream your media to it. it works even better than the stock s3 video does because its it own video player and allows you to run it in the background.
for the record ive tried everything to remedy the lack of connectivity between a tv and phone but my s4 just doesnt take to my smart TV vizio like my s3 would. file sharing only works via ps3 but i wanted to stream and the screen mirror is pretty much for the new samsung tvs.

Jesus, how many threads do we need on dnla? I know you're excited but this forum is cluttered enough.
Hello, first of all.
It's been a long time since I have visited this place, so excuse me please if I missed a similar thread. I have searched for it.
My question is if it this possible to turn my old Motorola XT 720 into an Android TV box (i.e. Chromecast or similar).
I have tried CheapCast app that only crashed when opening YouTube. This phone has a HDMI port and I assumed it can connect through it to my Philips TV, which is not a smart TV, but a regular HD TV.
The only connection I was able to create was the built-in version of media gallery from phone which has the option to display the pictures from phone on TV screen (proving there is a working connection at least).

This should be possible as the device has the ability to use another display. I would recommend using something like Tablet Remote or other similar apps on the Play store so instead of using the device as a chrome cast you can use it as a full media center device connected to your TV. By using one of these apps you would play videos directly through your device instead of "casting" them. This should hopefully work arround the issue of apps like CheapCast crashing.
Hope I could help and good luck
Thank you, Tablet Remote works good between the 2 Android phones. Still working on it.
I am also working on this route, trying to make use of my screen-broken Xperia Z. However apart from using as mediacenter with kodi, it would be nice if I could properly emulate chromecast. I would love to see a nexus android TV Rom being able to drive my phone, is anybody working on that?

I've looked for a few days to find if there's a 'best practice' way to mirror from my Note 3 to a Vizio smart tv (E422VA) (without having to purchase a dongle or other box to do this). I half expected this would be easy to find, but after a couple of days searching all over I haven't found an obvious solution yet.
Is there no app that will work with Vizio smart tv's (there appears to be with some other tv's)? The goal is simply to get anything I play on my Note 3 to show on the tv as well, not just media stored on the phone. If I'm streaming something full screen on the phone, watching a show or whatever, it would be nifty to just tap a 'sling' icon and poof..play it on the tv. This Vizio does come with some apps built-in (Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, etc.) and it's connected via wifi to the home net, so those do work. But so far I've come up blank on how to mirror any streaming video on the phone to the tv.
I'd appreciate any suggestions from anyone who knows how to make it work.
Thanks..
Hi,
Try asking in this General thread: [HELP THREAD] Ask ANY Question. Noob Friendly.
Hi
I have a P40 pro running on normal HMS. I tried to screen cast it on my Philips TV running on android with inbuild chromecast.
My phone could not find my TV. I have checked all the settings and it is as it should be. It works normal with my old P20 pro (of course on a GMS).
So I couldnot use the "wireless projection" or mirror my screen on my TV.
I have also tried third party apps but they often come with a lot of bugs and bad cast quality.
Interestingly though, in youtube vanced the option of linking to TV works and it could cast as normal. But I want to cast other applications as well through mirroring the screen.
Does anyone know a solution for this?
Thank you in advance
