Does the US Unlocked Note 20 Ultra (N986U1) pyhsically support two sims? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hello, I'm trying to clear something up once and for all, I bought a dual sim tray off amazon for my US Unlocked Note 20 Ultra, put two sims in it and inserted it in the phone. However absolutely nothing different happened, only the bottom sim (1) was recognized. I am wondering if the US Note 20 does not physically support two sims (or is these some trick to enable it in software, rooted or not)? If anyone knows for sure, please let me know!
Also on eSim functionality, I am able to get into the CSC menu but it only shows US codes, currently it looks like mine is set to TMB (despite it being unlocked straight from samsung), why do I not have any options for eSim (TMB is supposed to I think)?

Nope, only 1 Sim supported, pretty sure it doesn't have the hardware for two physical sims. Also even though you have T-Mobile csc on your unlocked, you need to flash T-Mobile firmware to use esim. (Essentially turning your U1 into a U. esim won't work on unlocked firmware.

Alright, thanks for the info on this!

This is hilarious.
I bought the 20 because it was widely advertised to have dual sim card support, which I want/need as E-sim is .. well, not really available yet.
So, all the advertisements for the phone everywhere list it as a dual sim card phone, but its not.
GG samsung. ffs. I'd have bought the standard note 20.
Only reason to keep the 20 ultra is the sim card support.
Which even then, the phone handles like crap.

The eSIM has finally been turned on for the unlocked Note 20 Ultra on UI 4.0 beta.

i727 "no sim" error on SOME cards

I have an unlocked AT&T Skyrocket SGH-I727 that is very picky about which SIM cards it accepts. I have seen a few similar forums, but nothing that fixes or seem directly applicable so want to start a new discussion.
No SIM Card
Similar problem but I'm not locked to any particular network, rather it is a few networks that work, a few that don't (all GSM).
No sim card error?? Any solutions??
My problem isn't no signal, it's no SIM.
"No sim" issue on Skyrocket
SIM card tray in my phone doesn't appear to be loose.
No signal after sim unlock
Not working at all, no solution.
I was running Cyanogen Mod with no problem on China Unicom (could use also China Mobile 2G) but on a trip last month to Bolivia was surprised that the phone doesn't accept any of the local SIM cards (such as Tigo, a GSM network) while an HTD Status and my backup SGH-i777 worked with all of these networks.
I tried a few different ROM's before flashing the i727 phone back to stock using Odin. Other than installing Team Win Recovery v2.2.0, it's plain stock, not even rooted. See below:
Android version 4.0.4
Baseband version Unknown
Kernal version 3.0.8
Build number IMM76D.UCLF6
While back in the US I tried several other cards, including an AT&T SIM, Straight Talk (actually from AT&T) and it also said no SIM. I've found that the China Unicom SIM works perfectly and a few others (see photo below) consistently work fine. I'd really like to get the phone working again on all of these GSM networks like my i777, HTC and i9300 do.
I've tried flashing three radios Radio_RIL__I727ATTKJ2, Radio_RIL__I727ATTKK1, Radio_RIL__I727RUXKJ7 but other than making T-Mobile 3G work, haven't helped me use any of the other SIMs.
Can anyone help with this? Should I be flashing another radio, replacing a part of the hardware (warranty isn't an option)? I'll buy a case of Redbull, Guinness or similar if I can get this working.

read returning to stock sticky, perform a reset afterwards, if still having issues, then either faulty phone, like sim tray or its contacts, or the unlocked method was fracked up in one way or another, try the free unlock method and see what happens, its in the 1stop sticky

"Slot has been permanently blocked"

I flashed a custom ROM and the on first screen my device asked to insert the PIN code, then i tried more than two times and it showed "Slot has been permanently blocked". I could't make any phonecalls And when i flashed my stock ROM it works normal.
Do you know how to unlock the SIM slot?
Thank you very much.
Device: Blu vivo IV (Gionne s.5.5) chipset 6598
Custom ROM: Lolifox V6
---------------------------------
If you truly believe the device is stolen or has otherwise been acquired through illegitimate means, we can't help you - you should contact the authorities and have the seller investigated. Stealing is a crime and stolen IMEIs are blocked for that very reason.
If not, first check that the phone supports the network frequencies that your carrier uses wherever you are - not all phones support all bands, and not all carriers support all bands either.
If you can tell us the make and model of the phone, we can point you to a device-specific forum in case it's a general problem or issue with that phone model.
Beyond that, you can try to take up with the manufacturer of the phone or the carrier if it's a carrier-branded phone.
I once had to make numerous called to my carrier's support line because my new imported phone was somehow registered in my carrier's database as a completely different kind of device, so the system kept kicking me off the data plan."

My device was not stolen, i bought it recently, if you guys want i could post the photography of the box.
I live in BRAZIL (BLU IV) and i am trying to install a custom room for a device which's made for INDIA(GIONE s5.5), the device, it self, is the same, what changes its the "software".I saw a video on youtube that someone from USA installed the same custom ROM and didn't get any problem.
I am apologies for this good English sirs.
If you enter the wrong PIN more than three times, the "slot" gets blocked and you can't use your SIM to connect to the network anymore. Newly bought SIM cards come inside one bigger card on which your PUC is written on. For security purposes, SIM cards require this code to be entered if they get locked down.

Question T Mobile version

I got the unlocked version from the google store to use on Mint (T Mobile mvno). It does not connect to UC which I figured it wouldn't considering only the Verizon variant has mmWave. However, I went to the T Mobile store and tested their 6a variant and it did connect to mmWave UC, speed test over 500mbs. So I'm curious if loading the T Mobile rom on an unlocked phone would support it.
I purchased the unlocked version, and I get 5GUC on TMobile. But I don't think that it is mmwave
Ok, I see T-Mobile also refers to their n41 (2.5GHz) 5G as Ultra Capacity

I have the 6a bought from a T-Mobile store (well, mailed from T-Mobile as they didn't have sage in stock). I see 5GUC in some places in Ann Arbor, but don't see DL speeds over about 150....
Out in the wild, I never see over 150 either. However, in the T-Mobile store, I get UC and over 400. I have a theory they have one of those personal cell things in the store. I'm in the Cleveland area. I turn off 5G for the most part, it keeps the phone cooler and helps with battery life.
I'm betting that the 5G UC symbol is for native T-Mobile, not MVNOs. If you see Mint Mobile in your indicator, it just says "5G".
I believe only Verizon shows "Verizon" even if a MVNO is used. Most carriers show the MVNO name if one is used, and avoid the branded indicators.
You are right. Even though the band is the same, only the T-Mobile sim displays UC. Found a good video explaining the differences.
I have 2 questions related to T-Mobile and Google purchased phone. I am on T-Mobile and have the default build.
1. Is there anything to be gained or loss by flashing the newer T-Mobile B1 build vs default B1 build?
2. Does flashing to T-Mobile B1 build exclude me from the Android 13 Beta program?

Question Dual SIM Cards?

MIne P7P only has a tray for one SIM and therefore ESIM making the claim this is a dual SIM phone. Are there any variants that will accept two physical SIM cards?

I am able to use dual via 1x esim and 1x physical. You can also use multiple esims but thats a no on 2x physical.
On the P6 Pro, I had used an ESim and physical sim. I even used 2 whatsapp using Shelter app. Alas, the app isn't working yet on the 7 Pro

You could use Island (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island) instead of Shelter.

You have to use Shelter from F-Droid or Source direct, there is a newer version 1.8! This one is working on our P7P as i'm using it!

Can I change one of my physical sims into an Esim? I do not even know what that is.... I have 5 lines and only use 4 but I use the 5th for emergencies.

Question Using tmobile sim to update to one ui 5

Ok so I have an unlocked samsung galaxy s22 ultra from optimum mobile, its a u1. I still have not received my one ui 5 update and really want to just get it already and have a tmobile sim I can use to update but am worried I won't get future updates through optimum mobile. Will I have to use the tmobile sim for any future updates or after I update to one ui 5 will I continue to receive updates through my optimum sim?
If you put your TMB SIM, your phone will ask you to restart to switch to TMB CSC. Then you can get the update. Once you put your Optimium SIM back in, it will again ask you to restart to switch to your new carrier's CSC. It won't be TMB anymore, so you won't get TMB updates. You'll get Optimum updates when your Optimum SIM is plugged in. You won't have to use TMB for future updates, as long as Optimum is actually releasing updates, you will get Optimum firmware updates.

Ok so when I update with the tmobile sim it'll be like getting the update through optimum basically when I pop my opt sim back in. It's just a workaround basically your saying.

Just to check out the latest features and also phone is so much faster and smoother and battery life has been fantastic! Not a big change in UI but there are some changes that are great. Phone feels a lot more like I want it to now for some reason and even more perfect than before
