MIUI 12.0.12.0.QCDEUXM.EEA MAGISK 20.4b TWRP 3.4.2b ANDROID 10 - Redmi 9A Guides, News, & Discussion

Please tell me if you were successful and if it is well explained
So far the only thing I noticed that didn't work is the BACKUP in TWRP v3.4.2b, error 255, I didn't test the other options

does anybody of you cracks out there what it means and where to get?
the second pic is courious too, twrp tells me "could not mount /system (structure needs cleaning), what the f..... is going on with my device. flashing devices for more than four years now, never saw such a unusual behaviour

Restoring twrp backup bricks phone

Hello,
I encountered a annoying problem with my oneplus 6 tonight, a device i am fairly new with, previously owning a oneplus 3t.
While restoring a TWRP backup out of lazyness i screwed up something in my device to the point that it was booting in TWRP on the second try (the first was just a bootloop).
I said ok, there's something wrong, lets do that again and booted in TWRP (blu_spark, latest). There, i was not asked about any decryption password and obviously everything was encrypted.
I re-installed everything now using MSM tool and re-rooted but this is a painful process that takes time.
Anyone encountered that?
I am, and was on latest OOS with stock kernel, latest TWRP blu_spark (the stock one gives me QUALCOMM CrashDump when trying to boot from fastboot in it), rooted with magisk (latest 18.1) and using magisk custom rom on top of stock (XXX_nolimits, latest).
Any of you encoutered this issue?
Thanks!

All you need to do is backup data. There are multiple threads explaining nandroid backup and restore. Just install OOS and TWRP, reboot recovery and flash all mods that you use, then restore data only and reboot.

switching slots error when trying to flash havoc - cannot proceed

im trying to flash havoc os and just started the process
i am getting the attached error regarding switching slots.
I have carefully followed all the steps, bootloader is unlocked and TWRP is installed too
please help
Update here when the process fails and I choose reboot from TWRP the phones then boots into a clean install of Andrpid 10 is this normal behavior?
so tried various things like changing the slot from a to b and back
changed how the files were copied and the location too but all failed.
reinstalled TWRP too
tried a different custom rom and got the same error
however when trying to reflash stock Android 10 rom this worked so TWRP works?
This can be closed I found a much older version of twrp on the TWRP site itself and that actually allowed me to to flash the ROM
Sounds like you had a bad download. Like a corrupted zip
Thanks bud but it it didn't matter what zip or what wrong I tried none of them worked in the end I downloaded an old version of TWRP 3. 3.1.0 and that worked 1st time
Please close the thread

Touchscreen not working properly with installed TWRP/Magisk

Update: Reinstalled the ROM without TWRP and Magisk and it is working fine.
How should I approach the desire to root then?
Hi,
short story:
unlocked my Xiaoxin Pad Pro running Android 11 ZUI 12.6.X. Worked fine afterwards.
Installed TWRP 3.4.2. from here https://unofficialtwrp.com/twrp-3-4-2-root-lenovo-tb-j706f/?amp
and followed the guide.
"fastboot format userdata" didnt work though and I found no solution, so I skipped it.
Error was mke2fs failed, Cannot generate image for userdata.
Nandroid backup didnt work either:
"Cannot create /data/media/0/twrp' folder (required key not available).
Failed to make backup folder."
Also, there was no system partition when I tried to back it up, only "super".
Solved the backup not possible problem by formating data in TWRP and trying it again.
Installed Magisk with adb sideload and booted..... into a fastboot brick.
Couldnt be solved by factory reset in TWRP and couldnt install new Global ROM .zips from here:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_P11_Pro/TB-J706F/
It said the files were corrupted.
Changed to Slot B in TWRP and the system booted normally.
Then I wanted to flash a Global ROM with QFIL.
It worked, but once the system booted up it told me "The current system is not compatible with the hardware. The device will power off automatically. It can work normally after flashing back to the factory version system"
In another XDA thread it was said, it is a kind of blocking thing in ZUI 12.6 (and maybe earlier) to prevent installing a Global ROM (on a chinese device). Tried to install the chinese version from the website then,
didnt work either.
Tried the older versions, all tested Android 10 versions are working, no A11 version is working though.
So question 1 is: "How can I change to A11 with root on Global ROM?"
Installed the newest one (the A11 ones arent working) as well as TWRP and Magisk
and it "worked".
But now the display isnt reaction in many cases. Have to click something like 5-10 times or I swipe up,
the screen goes up but when I lift my finger it goes down again instead of e.g. unlocking the screen.
Update 2: I can install OTA updates even with unlocked bootloader and Android 11 isnt available in my region (yet?), so maybe that's the reason the A11 versions didnt work for me.
The ZUI design was way better thouhj

Question TWRP LOOP stuck Poco x 3 pro

Hello everyone sorry i'm new here and also i don't know much about rooting my device Poco X 3 pro MIUI 13.0.3 Global and Andriod 12 .. sadly i messed up i had my boatloader unlocked fo my Poco x3 pro and i have installed custom recovery TWRP then i tried to install Magisk via the TWRP recovery but it won't work mainly because the data is encrypted and the TWRP can't acess in the internal storage so i used a OTG usb but gets error unable to mount /data/media/fox/.fox note that i tried both Orangefox and twrp still same error i assume its because the device is encrypted . also decrypt doesnt work it ask for password and i even removed all my accounts and disabled all lock screen but still not working at this point i thought that downgrading from MIUI 13 to 12 will fix this since i saw all videos who had it working used MIUI 12 and here where i messed up i used XiaoMiTool V2 then clicked custom ROM and used an offecial ROM from Xiaomi website ( miui_VAYUGlobal_V12.0.6.0.RJUMIXM_eccd7da42b_11.0.zip ) the phone booted into TWRP and started installing but ofcourse got the error first unable to mount /data/media/twrp then the process continued installing all the files then phone rebooted into TWRP LOOP now im stuck into TWRP and the USB debugging is turned off now as the phone appearntly did factory reset so i cant acess XiaoMiTool V2 again and when i try to wipe data from TWRP it says unable to wipe data ... please help im stuck on TWRP loop now
**UPDATE** i tried fastboot ROM using MiFlash tool but i get error since i'm stuck on twrp fastboot menue but after few restart it finally open the normal fastboot menue with the logo of the sitting rabbit which indecade this is miui 12 tried again to fash though Mifash tool and it worked (flashing the same version miui_VAYUGlobal_V12.0.6.0.RJUMIXM_eccd7da42b_11.0.zip but this time the fastboot version not the recovery one took few minutes then got error not catch checkpoint flash is not done then it reboot into the phone menue where i can click wipe data i click that and the phone (thankfully) opened into MIUI 12 LOGO screen
... theres an easier way to actually downgrade your MIUI using a trick through your phone only without root or pc or anything by changing the ROM file name before you click reboot wish i used that since its safer and official
omg finally Magisk installed successfully now didnt need to decrypt anything
now my last question is do i need custom ROM after rooting the device ? or does magisk mean its a custom root ? sorry first time rooting and i dont know if i need to install any apps or apply any setting or should i click update my MIUI now ?
Try the newest Unofficial TWRP from nebrassy (found in his thread here on XDA)
That supports decription.
I recommend arrowOS as custom ROM.
It's one of the oldest and works pretty well.
IMHO Stock ROM from Xiaomi is untrustworthy. Who knows what spyware they included.
Same for me now I have a question first I need a guide link how to install arrowOS or any better ROM also if I do that do I need to flash Magisk again or the device will be keep the Root ?
@Haldi4803 can you post the link of the TWRP as well ? There's many threads by nebrassy and they all seem old mine is the latest official and it doesn't work on miui 13 , I also heard of crdroid and derpfest ROMs for Poco x3 pro but I think they overheat much ? I didn't test so I'm just asking also what's the way to install a new ROM it seem little bit complicated but the ArrowOs thread doesn't explain all the steps in detail because I think it's for pro users I read on Google that there's way more steps to install a ROM

There are decent picture guides here on xda on how to unlock bootloader.
After bootloader is unlocked you can simply install TWRP via fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
Detailed instructions here: https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocox3pro.html
After you have installed a ROM. and gapps you can simply reboot and use the rom.
Whenever you need root you can reboot into recovery and install magisk.
