Looking for a way to to upload a custom ROM zip to my phone. - General Questions and Answers

Hi.
I have the Xiaomi Mi note 10 and i am trying to install a custom ROM.
However the sdcard is encrypted and TWRP doesn't seem to be able to decrypt it since it's all gibberish there, even after format/factory reset, so i cannot just upload it there from my PC.
I tried to ADB sideload it but it fails instantly writing "total xfer: 0.00x"
I also tried to ADB push it on /sdcard/ or on /sideload/ but it fails again after completes 100% writing "No space left on the device"
ADB push works with smaller files tho.
I don't have an OTG USB cable at the moment.
Anything else i can try so i can install that custom ROM?

Pushing a ZIP to /sdcard/Downloads should always be possible unless storage space isn't sufficient.
Hence make room on /sdcard.

Somehow it worked now that i created a downloads folder in the sdcard and copied it there.
Really weird.
Thanks.

Need help backing up data with ADB on my captivate (broken screen)

[resolved]
I have a broken (completely black) screen on my captivate Im trying to back up all my files from the INTERNAL memory. I can't see the screen so obviously I can't mount the phone to view the files on my PC. I have gotten 'pull /system/ /local/' to work however when I try something like 'pull /data/ /local/' it says "pull: building file list... 0 files pulled. 0 files skipped."
Basically, how do I use ADB to get all of my files to my computer? Help is certainly appreciated. After this I will probably reset the phone and then maybe sell it as is. Not too sure.
Question: Do u happen to have any recent clockwork backup and/or tibu backups on ur phone? If either is present u could directly navigate to those folders (in adb) and pull the files u want.
Alternate option: U cud put in an external sd card, and copy the files from internal sd to external sd if u are not comfortable with the pull commands.

I do not have any type of backups apps or anything like that on the phone.
I have an external sd card however Im not sure how thats different than using adb to copy the files from the internal memory to my computer. I am fine with using pull but maybe im using the wrong directory name for my personal files?
Have you tried qtadb or droidexplorer. Would be easier imo.

That requires a rooted phone right? My phone is currently not rooted and I don't know if I would want to. How come I cant just use the adb pull command on the folder with my data in it?
edit - i might have found a command that works, i will update when finished.
ok this worked for me: 'adb pull / d:\backup\'
thanks everyone for your help.
Yeah. Assumed you were rooted sorry. Just thought that way you could see everything and point and click.
So I have a similar situation to this only I have a phone that isnt rooted and usb debugging isnt enabled. However I know the phone boots on, and I can also get into recovery mode where I am able to ADB to get a basic shell, and see the device but that is about it. I feel that if I could enable usb debugging thru recovery mode I might be able to mount the /sdcard and then pull files from there. anyone got any ideas if I could get a reboot with usb debugging enabled from recovery or maybe just a command that I could use in shell via recovery?? Please Please lol. I have a strong feeling i might have hit a wall.

[Q] How to push rom to internal sd using ADB

SO here goes...
first off i am on a mac, rooted, have all appropriate drivers, etc, have used dab to root.
I am a total newb, and was experiencing issues flashing a new ROM. when trying to install the zip through cwm the phone said "signature verification failed" or something to that extent. so being the deductive thinker that I am, I formatted everything: boot, system, sd, etc. After doing this, I realized that I totally wiped out all the files on the internal sd.
so i downloaded the heimdall one click- it connects but fails regardless of whether i flash boot loader.
i can access red cwm and download mode.
now. i want to know if it is possible to push or even install a ROM through adb. I've been playing around with it all day and have gotten nowhere.
i thought maybe i could load up a rom to an external sd but obviously you can't mount an extsd in cwm.
am i screwed?
ill gladly donate through paypal if someone can help me get my baby up and running again. i do not want to be using my nokia from middle school anymore!!
thank you in advance for ANY help you can give me.
Rob
I replied in another thread, but here goes again.. since you have adb working, this should be fairly easy. In CWM, go to 'mounts and storage' and mount /sdcard. Then, just adb push your ROM .zip to /sdcard like so: adb push /path/to/zip /sdcard
You can then flash the zip in CWM.
LinuxBozo, I seems to have run into the same situation. Would you mind elaborating a bit? Should I have the phone connected when I mount /sdcard? My PC does not recognize it no matter what I do, so I cannot push the stock ROM onto it. Much appreciate your help if possible.
I had similar problems when I accidentally wiped /system without having a ROM on my internal SD. I was fortunate though that I had the Infuse Toolkit which has a ROM built in it so I flashed that.
However, before I did that, I was also trying to push a ROM via adb while in CWM. It seemed that for whatever reason, it just refused to work. I could get a shell open, but when trying to push files, I would get a protocol error (you have to leave it and wait a while to see the protocol error).
I'm curious to know if you get this working, because with the red CWM, I couldn't even mount an external sd, so I was a bit worried that there was no way for me to flash a ROM (I didn't realize there's special drivers for Heimdall, so I couldn't use any of those one-clicks either).

Can I push a file via fastboot?

I accidentally wiped by SYSTEM partition (ouch) but my nandroid backup is not stored on the phone. I know in TWRP you can mount USB storage and transfer the file, but I heard this is risky (corruption) compared to the adb/fastboot method.
So I have now connected my phone via fastboot but I can't seem to find a command that will push my android backup files to the SD card. Can someone help? Thanks!
Your better off doing it through mass storage
AdB is alot slower
You could do adb push "file" /sdcard/
but it would be slow like I said and you would have to know the directory names to push the nandroid
My suggestion would be to push a aosp ROM just to get it flashed and booted then transfer the nandroid
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
Edit:
NVM: got it working. Thanks!

[Q] stuck in boot loop

I've got my tf300t stuck in a boot loop when i turned it on today. (Ive looked around the forums for this issue already and been able to find little or no solutions that work for me)
I'm using cm10 and twrp. last night i shut the tablet off as usual and go to turn it on today and i cant get past the white asus logo and device unlocked screen.
I can access my twrp recovery menu, wiping dalvik returns a "E:Unable to mount '/data' (tw_mount)" cache wipes fine no errors.
I'm unable to flash another rom or restore from a back up as well.
Fastboot says its working but in cmd prompt it wont list the device. (computer recognizes it and it shows in device manager as android adb interface)
If there is any other information needed I will be more than happy to provide it.
any tips or help is greatly appreciated.
thanks in advanced.
I'm not yet very fammiliar yet with TF300, but from SGS 1 and ICS I remember one trick. If you have external microSD pluged, take it out or of you don't have it plug it in and then enter TWRP.
It probably won't work but you can try anyway.
Does TWRP have any file browser? I'm using CWM so I don't know much about TWRP.

Yeah it does have the file browser, upon initial booting i can browse an sd card ( i have a few of various sizes none seem to to be having any affect) and i can browse the internal storage as well. Booting both with and without the sd card in the device still leaves me in the boot loop.
So, can you copy new rom to sd card, then copy from sd to internal and install new rom? I think only option you have is to reinstall rom.

I can and have tried but it wont let me flash with the "unable to mount /data" error. It tells that my external sd-card and whatever rom i attempt to flash has problems

Be sure your sdk is up to date.
1. If you hold volume down plus power button to get to fastboot.
2. shift + control right click fastboot folder on computer then open command prompt.
3. type devices... and if it is not showing a device there something is not right.
4. you can try adb push to apply a flash if your device is not wanting to flash from sd card.

I've tried this as well. It was my first thought. Also it states in my original post that fastboot doesnt list my device, adb doesnt list it as well. Both are recent and up to date. However device manager does recognize it and windows makes the little notification sound. In safely remove devices it shows up as fastboot when i enable fastboot on the device.

Can't push files to phone via TWRP

Rooted phone, went to flash rom then accidentally selected to install TWRP app, read somewhere that doing so bricks your phone so I wiped everything. I accidentally selected to wipe internal storage along with this, so now I have no OS, no files on my phones internal storage, and can't figure this out.
I tried mounting usb with TWRP, but OTG reads as 0mb, and on my computer my Pixel XL shows up as AOSP on msm8996, and trying to copy files to it just freezes explorer.exe
I had the though of doing an adb push for the ROM, or even a factory OTA image but don't know the commands for this since it's not an SD card or anything.
I'm taking shots in the dark with this and nothing works, any responses and help is greatly appreciated
Phone is a Pixel XL. Already made a post on my devices section but I'm in a bit of a rush to figure this out so I took it here as well. Reeee indeed.
Never mind. after cmd and powershell weren't working I downloaded the all in one tool and just dragged the files over to the phones storage. In the future if anybody goes full retard like me, just do that
