[Q] How to push rom to internal sd using ADB - Samsung Infuse 4G

SO here goes...
first off i am on a mac, rooted, have all appropriate drivers, etc, have used dab to root.
I am a total newb, and was experiencing issues flashing a new ROM. when trying to install the zip through cwm the phone said "signature verification failed" or something to that extent. so being the deductive thinker that I am, I formatted everything: boot, system, sd, etc. After doing this, I realized that I totally wiped out all the files on the internal sd.
so i downloaded the heimdall one click- it connects but fails regardless of whether i flash boot loader.
i can access red cwm and download mode.
now. i want to know if it is possible to push or even install a ROM through adb. I've been playing around with it all day and have gotten nowhere.
i thought maybe i could load up a rom to an external sd but obviously you can't mount an extsd in cwm.
am i screwed?
ill gladly donate through paypal if someone can help me get my baby up and running again. i do not want to be using my nokia from middle school anymore!!
thank you in advance for ANY help you can give me.
Rob

I replied in another thread, but here goes again.. since you have adb working, this should be fairly easy. In CWM, go to 'mounts and storage' and mount /sdcard. Then, just adb push your ROM .zip to /sdcard like so: adb push /path/to/zip /sdcard
You can then flash the zip in CWM.

LinuxBozo, I seems to have run into the same situation. Would you mind elaborating a bit? Should I have the phone connected when I mount /sdcard? My PC does not recognize it no matter what I do, so I cannot push the stock ROM onto it. Much appreciate your help if possible.

I had similar problems when I accidentally wiped /system without having a ROM on my internal SD. I was fortunate though that I had the Infuse Toolkit which has a ROM built in it so I flashed that.
However, before I did that, I was also trying to push a ROM via adb while in CWM. It seemed that for whatever reason, it just refused to work. I could get a shell open, but when trying to push files, I would get a protocol error (you have to leave it and wait a while to see the protocol error).
I'm curious to know if you get this working, because with the red CWM, I couldn't even mount an external sd, so I was a bit worried that there was no way for me to flash a ROM (I didn't realize there's special drivers for Heimdall, so I couldn't use any of those one-clicks either).

Got a bit of a problem folks,, hope to get some help...
i have been running TNT lite since i got the tab and was up to 4.1 and started getting the acore force closes. so i followed some threads and installed clockwork and did the partition reformate and wipe data,,,,
now when i reboot, it gets the birds splash, and moves to the G-tablet boot image (i have the dancing droid one) and it hangs,,,,,,, nothing....
any ideal how i "fix this"...
thanks for any help because as you can see i am at a stop!

I had some issues with my first tab similar to what you are having. The only way I solved it was by reflashing and wiping all date, which takes you back to the EULA. Good luck.
Do you have functional recovery? I'm guessing yes since you partitioned. Go to recovery and flash the rom again. You can mount the usb drivers in cwm to start usb mass storage so that you can download the rom on your computer and transfer to tablet. You can also put rom on external sd card and install from cwm.
When you partitioned the storage you deleted everything including the os. I believe it warned you of that before you did it.
If no recovery then you will have to nvflash. Search nvflash and bekit to get the nvflash info.
Matt
Make sure you are using bekits .8 CWM release. The latest release of CWM gave me fits, the only thing that would install was CM 7.
This isn't an Android Development topic, its a General topic, but don't worry about it, a mod will move it.
As to the question, like the others said. Use CWM .08, Wipe System, Wipe Cache, Install zip from SD Card, Install your choice of ROM (in your case, TnT Lite 4.1), Install gApps.zip, Reboot system now. That should get you up and running.
I am confused about you saying that you just now installed CWM but have been running TnT Lite. How would you have done that or do you mean you tried to update CWM or do you mean you have been using the stock TnT?
Also, feel free to hop on the #Tegratab IRC on Freenode if you need fast troubleshooting. Someone is usually on there to help

I "think" i tried this last night. I have 4.1.4 Update.zip and recovery folder on an USB stick. In CW, i went to "mount USB" (thinking i could access my USB and install from there) but ???? i didnt see anything and the only options were install update.zip from SD, and from Location but no USB option, and of course no way (that i saw) to brows to another location to "pick" where i wanted to install from.
Im thinking i am missing something with this step, or just plain old doing it wrong..

I have been installing the Roms, by downloading, taking the two "files" and moving them to my tab, and then rebooting with the power volume up,, ,finds the update and installs the ROM. its worked for all of them since 2.2...i thought i read that was an acceptable means of installing the ROM.????
as far as getting the files onto my SD (now). How? my computer doesnt see the tab because it is just hanging on dancing andy(unless there is anothe way of making it "see it", i cant seem to figure out how to get CW to read from my USB drive.....
Im just plain "stuck".
I am by no means a Android guru, and up to this point havnt had problems in the past... I TRULY am thankful for ANY help and all help i have recieved...
thanks folks
Jake
power off the tablet.
hold vol+ then power till u see recovery key pressed in the upper left corner of the screen. it will appear while the birds are still on the screen. If you get to the g tablet screen power off and repeat till u get into cw recovery.
Using volume +/- to navigate up and down Home to select and back to go back one level
Navigate cw recovery till u see mount usb storage i think its under partitions.
when you see usb mounted hook up the usb cable to the computer to the tablet mini usb port. copy the rom of your choice to the tablet. u only need the update.zip
once copied unmount usb storage.
back out till u see apply update.zip
Install and reboot u will be good to go.
of course flash gapps if u know what that is and want market on the tab.
Enjoy.

CW Won't read your USB drive. The "Mount USB" option in CW is to mount your tablet onto your computer as a USB storage device. By doing so, you can push files over to the tablet's internal storage from your computer.

Agree. That is what I was talking about earlier, I just couldn't remember what it was labelled in CWM. Mount the USB to your PC and push over the file. Then in CWM choose install from sdcard (I think, too lazy to look). Navigate to the rom file and run it. All should be well after that.

I've had issues with the dancing droid boot animation (as have many others) where it won't get past the boot screen. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone.

[Q] Wiped sdcard. Won't connect to computer

Hey guys,
I goofed. Big time. I accidentally wiped the sdcard in recovery mode when flashing to another rom.
I have her booted into red recovery and mounted the USB mass storage but it isn't showing up on my computer (I have a Mac that is running a dual boot of windows) on neither the windows or Mac side. Positive the drivers are installed on both.
Please help. If I can put a rom onto the card I'll be fine...but I can't get onto the card
Any suggestions?
Could use Odin or heimdall I've never tried to use mass storage while in recovery
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Downloading Odin currently. Will post results. I hate my slow school Internet :/
ODIN Worked. Thanks
Wiped SD using CWM
So I had a problem almost the same.
I was using JellyBelly 4.2, and didn't like it. I wanted to go back to Cyan 10.0 and installed the files on my phone. I decided it was a good time to wipe everything, and started to do so. One of the files was the SD format. So I did that, and then wipe/data factory reset. Crap. So now I have no rom installed, and no files on my SD card.
I need help to place my zip files for CM 10 on my SD card (they are on my MAC now). I can't start up my phone to enable file transfer. I can only boot into CWM recovery. Is there a (step by step) way to push files from my MAC onto the SD card? Or is there a different way to tackle this?
I have a GNex (Toro) VZW
MacBook running snow leopard.
I am afraid that anything give me advice on you're gonna have to pretend that I am really dumb and need step by step directions. I tried to push via ADB but got this error, I don't know the correct commands for that. View attachment 1508775 Any suggestions?
It seems you do not have the android sdk set up along with adb.
Is this it?

I thought I did. Here is what I have, I just don't know how to force my ROM's onto the SD card using it.View attachment 1508841
FIrst make sure you added the tools directory to your PATH.
There's a guide on how to set up the sdk on a mac: http://peter.boctor.net/2010/12/02/installing-the-android-sdk-on-mac-os-x/
you can skip the eclipse parts.
Of course, make sure you use your own path.
After that, adb should be recognized as a command.
To push, use this:
adb push "file.zip" /sdcard/file.zip
change "file.zip" for the location and name of the zip.
I often place files on my Home directory before pushing since it then only requires I specify the file name.
Problems with ADB path
So this is what I get when trying to install different commands into my path. I guess I am still doing it wrong? View attachment 1509964
You need to edit the Path to make it fit yours. Your sdk directory reads android-sdk-macosx 2.
It also depends on where you have that folder.

Since your on jb with blue recovery you should be able to Mount USB storage from recovery...mounts and storage>mount USB>plug into computer
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Mounts
So when I boot CWR and go to the mounts and storage menu I only see the following options.
Mount /sdcard
Mount /system
Unmount /cache
Unmount /data
Format /sdcard
Format /system
Format /cache
Format /data
I've tried them all while plugged into my Mac, and nothing happens on any of them.
Try getting your adb set up.
I'm pretty sure that if you right click on the tools folder and go to get info or anything similar to properties, it will show you the whole Path.

[Q] error with mounting /sdcard and flashing

hey guys and girls, hopefully you can help me out.
I'm using a t-mobile galaxy S, trying to flash a new rom after I rooted it. I followed the instructions, and I have CWM able to load. when I got into select the install from the SD card, I'm able to select the file (trying bionix frost), it tries to load it, but then comes back telling me 'Can't mount /sdcard' and any subsquent attempts to even browse for the install zip give me the same error. I can boot the phone into the rooted stock image, access anything on the SD card there fine, copy files to it, etc, but CWM will not install the ROM's or keep the /sdcard mounted.
anyone here run into this issue? I'm using CwM Voodoo lagfix Recovery 3.0.2.8x
It's been awhile since I flashed that ROM...
Did you change the mounts manually? Does the OP say to change mounts? Back then we had to change the mounts ourselves in CWM to UMMU.
I'm at work and just sending a quick reply..check the OP to see what your mounts should be
to clarify a bit, this isn't just on a specific ROM, this is for ANY rom I try, after I access any ZIP file through CWM, it unmounts the SD Card and won't let me get back to it unless I reboot, and the cycle repeats.
Ok. Sorry I can't help you with that. I'm still kinda new.
I'm sure you'll get the help you need soon especially with your last reply.
Good luck and sorry I couldn't be of help.
I'm backing up and will format my SD card to see if this is the problem, saw this fixed a couple of errors like this for other peeps.
So since I couldn't get CWM to install the rom, I used ODIN and flashed to gingerbread. that's installed and working (had it fail the first time, but the 2nd installed and was up inside 10 minutes)

[Q] Soft Bricked tab, no custom recovery and no way of selecting USB debugging option

So i soft bricked my device while trying to install the latest 4.0.1 image. I tried hard wiping the device and wipe cache partion from Stock Recovery but didn't help, still wouldn't boot. I tried installing the image in Stock Recovery from Apply Update From External SD Card, but i got a few errors first "E:Failed to map file Operation aborted", i took a look at the file and it had about 1.67gb extra in "Userdata" i tried deleting that file and reinstalling from external sd card but then i got "E:footer is wrong" "E:signature verification failed" Operation Aborted.
Now i'm trying to install update from ADB (Surprisingly if i have the tab connected and im in Apply Update from ADB the tab is recognized in ADB
Code:
adb devices
serial # sideload and i have updated the drivers) But if i try to flash the recovery file 4.0.1 (provided from the developers site [cant post links]) "i just get waiting for device"
Anyone know how to get around this issue in ADB or properly install from external sd card without getting errors?
(Alternative read to my problem posted in the Nvidia Forums 98% sure i soft bricked my device [cant post links]
Did you ever find a fix? I'm having a similar problem.
Try to use fastboot restore everything.
I can't get it to connect to fastboot. When it loads the boot loader and I try to select fastboot protocol it fails.
Wow this thing sucks! I'm really appreciating my Samsung with Odin right now! So I finally got it to connect to fastboot (don't ask me how, I don't know) unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp. Now it won't flash supersu in adb sideload so I put it on an SD card (which now magically mounts and works now) and flashed the zip in recovery but it says at the very end of the process while trying to update the partitions that it can't mount the data and system partitions so I'm not sure if I'm actually getting root or not and if so if it's permanent I have no way to tell. I think this is because they have been accidentally wiped. Do you think it is safe to try to flash a rom in recovery from external sd card? And if so which one? I have no idea which version bootloader, kernel, or os is or was on this device...
Update: I think I may start a new thread in the Q&A/Help section so that I can try to get a vast concensus. Thanks!

Yes flash a ROM in recovery.
Try Resurrection Remix. It'll resurrect your device
Just tried flashing bliss 6.2 and it won't get past the nvidia screen. It says it flashes successfully but I still get a bunch of "can't mount such and such partition" errors during the flash sequence. Not sure what to do, I can post pics if you guys want.
If you got/can get TWRP on there now, the advanced wipe menu will allow you to check /data for errors. As for /system, wipe it. If you get errors that e2fsck can't fix in your TWRP log, you'll have to put on your data recovery hat on. If it's that important to you, my advice is to adb pull the right file under /dev/block. You won't get a block device, you'll get an exact image of your data partition. Once it's fully pulled (it'll be 10 GB or more on a 16GB device), make a copy of it first thing, and use data recovery tools (testdisk, or if you really know what you're doing, debugfs). If you don't have anything valuable on /data (remember that any backups you took from recovery go in /data/media by default), just format that and be done with it.
Pray that there are no errors after you format everything, because that usually means your NAND is toast.
If your errors are hardware ones, you're royally screwed. Same thing happened to my Nexus 7 2013 model a year ago. Only way to use it is to flash a modified kernel that will use an attached USB drive exclusively as storage. If the NAND is toast inside the boot partiti, try replacing recovery, otherwise, you have to tether boot it (fastboot boot) every time you want to run it, unless you have the guts to try repartitioning the NAND (unlike on PCs, messing up there is an instabrick).
Since the Shield Tablet can use SD cards, you're better off. No USB drive needed.

Help! Asus SL101 stuck in CWM, can't mount /sdcard, error mounting /data :(

Hi all.
I've been searching the net for hours for a solution to this issue, to no avail.
I have an Asus Slider SL101 that I wanted to upgrade to KatKiss so here's what I've done...
- Root successfully (1-click transformer root 1.1 from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193)
- Installed CWM Recovery (6.0.1.3) successfully (also using above)
- put all the relevant zips (katkiss, gapps, slider comp pack) on the sd card ready for flash
- booted into recovery...
Next I went to wipe data/factory reset... but it froze so I did a hard boot and tried again: same thing.
So I went to install the rom zip from sdcard and I get error message 'can't mount /sdcard/'
Also getting 'error mounting /data' and 'unknown volume for path [/sdcard/].
I can't get back to my original Android settings at all, I'm assuming it's all gone or something. Maybe the reset did work.
The big issue is I can't access the damn zip files on the sd card to install a rom.
I have these ADB tools (with adb and all these random executables and various files scattered about) but if I can't start Android then I can't use them can I?
It's a bit of a mess really. I'm thinking if I can just get the slider to mount the sd card then I can install the rom and I should be back in.
I'm not sure how to go back to stock recovery (whatever that means) so if you advise that I should 'flash' then I'm afraid I'm going to need some clear instruction.
Stupidly, I forgot to do a backup, which is probably half the reason I'm here, although that still doesn't account for the sdcard error...
Anyway, please help a moron out?

Ive got the same problem. CWM cant mount the sd card. Ive been searching for days, but all the links in any solution i did find are outdated. I did read somewhere that it means that the CWM version isnt compitable with the Sl101. I can't find any other/older versions then the Manager i downloaded from Playstore. I want to flash the Twrp Recovery and then the kisskat ROM, compability pack.. Gapps
.etc but i cant seem to get any of that done if CWM can't mount the damn sdcard. (Sorry i got a bit frustrated over this). Ive never rooted anything before so im new to this. Did anyone find a solution for this? Or has an link to some other version of CWM that is compitable to mount the sdcard? Thank you very much in advance)
Probably not what you wanna hear, but I didn't find a solution and had to throw my beloved slider away!
