Unable to automatically setup my o2 germany APN - Sony Xperia 5 II Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm unable to setup my xperia 5 ii (2 weeks old) internet data connection on my o2 prepaid network.
Has anyone faced similar situation? is the manual APN settings the only way to setup data? I think so from my experience after few tryouts.
Also on "Network and Internet", whenever i click the SIM1-O2, the settings app crashes. : Solution: i had to factory reset the network settings to get back this setting up.
Thanks,

Go settings mobile and network then it 2nd option also get in touch with network and ask them to manually send the settings over

Windows Live not working over mobile connection?

Gents,
Is anyone experiencing problems with Windows Live on their Touch Pro?
I can't seem to sign into MSN or sync hotmail while on a mobile connection. Wi-Fi works fine...
Any ideas?
check your contract with your provider.
Many networks block MSN because they would rather you pay for SMS messages.

Go to your network settings and uncheck the 'this connection need a proxy' setting. Sorry, don't have my phone in front of me so can't be more specific!
Working ok on Vodafone. When I've had this problem in the past on previous devices, it has been due to messed up connection settings - usually if I've restored from an old backup.
Try running the connection wizard again, and as nuttyphilt says, go to:
Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Edit > Proxy Settings, and make sure that "This network uses a proxy server...." is unticked.

Legends. That was it. Weird, I never had an issue on my Kaiser, I guess teh auto-config has changed slightly.
Thanks for your help guys it's much appreciated.
EDIT:
This also fixes the YouTube application.
Having the same problem
I've unchecked teh proxy settings option but I still cant connect to the internet (or sync hotmail) - I'm on vodafone by the way
I have Tmobile and I cant for thelife of me connect to the internet, get mail updates or weather updates, unchecked the proxy but nothing, I have a data plan as well.
Hi,
Which T-Mobile do you have? T-Mobile Germany has blocked some ports for some of their products. There is a cheap data flatrate with limited speed and port 80 only (no POP,IMAP,NTP...) and a expensive Flatrate without this limitation.
Do you have the right conection settings?
Check if your APN is internet.t-mobile
User: t-mobile
PW: t-d1
Check if this connection is your default connection for Internet.

Out of interest, do you use messenger on the vodafone network, and if so, have you ever been charged outside of the data plan? The T&C's state that these kind of applications will be charged at £2 per meg. Just wondered if voda actually take any action?

No internet when using Rebel sim card

Hi friends,
I recently bought a HTC HD2 locked to T Mobile in UK. I used a Rebel sim to unlock it and I am now using it on O2.
However I am not able to start internet, neither can I receive settings from O2.
The message that gets displayed tell the phone as pre set T Mobile internet settings and these cannot be changed
Is there anyway I can bypass these? Anyone else faced same thing before?
Thanks
Metal
can't you manually change the apn to that of o2?
Rudegar,
Thanks for your reply.
I cannot change the apn as all the settings are for T Mobile and I cant change them.
I tried using all the settings but no use. I can start the internet using Wifi but not through operator internet.
When I go to the new connection set up I am asked to select country (i select as UK), then I am asked to select operator and only option I have is T - Mobile.
Besides when I click on any browser, I get the T Mobile flash screen and then the browser starts.
I get an error as I am not a T Mobile customer. I have a link for settings there. When I click that it says -
This connection is pre configured. It cannot be modified.

[Q] Messaging center number change. how ?

Been using Raphael for nearly two years on vodafone, no problems. It was a contract phone. Unlocked out of the box, flashed spl and elite rc3 the next day. also no problems whatsoever.
Now, bought another phone and let my missus have Raph. All is good and well but for the life of me i cant figure out how to add a messaging center number, since the phone cannot SEND texts. Fine with receiving though.
Whats tried:
1. Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > VMail and Text Messages > Get settings.
Result - Reading from network and then network error, reading "Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again." Data connection is on, but it can be more of the same - settings are wrong for data connection. Also tried to use my wifi as data - no dice.
2. Settings > Connections > Advanced Network > SMS Setvice > set to GSM (Originally "GSM Preferred").
Other sources indicate that its HERE that should be messahing center number filled in, but there are no fillable fields apart from pulldown to change "SMS Over", options are GSM, GSM Preferred, GPRS, GPRS Preferred. And thats it...
The card i try to run is O2 Pay-Go.
I'm out of ideas. Help...
#UPDATE# Sorted !!!

[Q] Unable to establish a Mobile Data Connection

Hi,
I have a HTC 8x, which was unlocked, but Branded 3. I have Put my 02 (Uk) Sim in the Phone, and whilst everything else appears to be working fine, I am unable to establish a mobile Data connection, when a wifi connection is established.
I texted 02 Activate, and the response was unable to send settings contact your Corporate Support team.
I have tried the settings they have provided, but they do not appear to work, however they are not familiar the with the device and are unable to assist.
Can anyone else, confirm what the apn settings should be?
Do I need to set up the mms apn as well ?
Are there any other settings I need to check/Change ?
I have Data on my 02 account and it should work
Normally I can get these things working, but alas I have failed miserably on this occasion.
I have the same issue with my at&t branded 8x after connecting to WiFi I have to power cycle the phone to get it to connect to a mobile network most of the time.
Sent from my PM23300 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Try HTC Connection Setup

Not automatically registering on network (CM 12.1) (VirginMobile UK)

Hi, I'm on CM 12.1 and my OPO won't register on networks at boot (I'm on Virgin UK). I have to manually go to Mobile Networks > Network Operators and select EE (which is a network Virgin uses). After that everything works fine, I have network and data. But if I connect to WiFi, data will be lost when I disconnect and won't come back unless I manually register to the network again. Also, network will drop much more often since I only use EE and the phone won't automatically connect to other networks. If I go to Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Choose Automatically the phone disconnects from network and I get "Emergency Calls Only".
NOTE: The SIM works in another phone without problem. However, my other SIM works perfectly fine in my OPO.
CONCLUSION: My guess is that the settings for the Virgin SIM failed to download correctly. I had to manually add the Virgin APN to use data (which I usually don't have to).
QUESTIONS: Is there a way to reset the SIM settings stored on the phone without factory resetting? I might be wrong, any other ideas on how to solve my problem?
Thanks, Dan
