Its been a while since I have been around, and I was going to give my original MyTouch a try since my iPhone has been acting up a lot lately (not an iPhone 4). I want to find out which OS out there seems to be the most stable, fastest and feature rich currently. Is there a single strong OS out there? Any help would be appreciated!
Hey folks, im thinking of buying an hd2 and i have a few questions. I have searched quite a bit about porting to android, but i have a few questions unanswered.
First off, can i unlock the hd2, port it, and then use it on att's network?
About the voice issues, are they fixed? i read up on it and i couldnt get a sure answer, all i read was it was a problem with the radio or something.

You can use an unlocked HD2 on AT&T, but you won't have 3g. AT&T uses a different frequency for their 3g.
Most of the android builds I've tried work great. You will have to flash HardSPL onto your phone and flash on a new Android-friendly Windows Mobile ROM. Check out the ROM Development under the HD2 forum. There are several tutorials on how to do all this.
Currently there is no permanent ported android build yet as in nand.
The android its either running in your SD card or RAM.
With HTC HD2 you have dual boot to Winmo & Android.
Depending on Winmo ROM & Radio & Android build will get stability.
So you can try diff ROMs & build to test out.
Thank you for such a quick reply, so just to be clear the voice issue ive heard of is fixed? and i can unlock the phone and use it with att and put android on it as well? i dont use data much so 3g wont be missed much.
voice issue depends on the version of radio rom of ur HD2.
roughly told it is fixed (be frank, so far I haven't encountered this problem from my day 1 lol)
Honestly, why would you buy an HD2 if you want to run Android. As wonderful as the development here is, it will most likely never be as stable or bug free as a device which runs Android natively.
I'd much sooner buy an HTC EVO or Desire HD. In fact I'm tempted to try and sell my HD2 to get one.
I'm by no means trying to put down the work of the Devs, they do a fantastic job and are very close to what I would call a stable build for daily use. But seriously, you will find Android on the HD2 frustrating at the best of times when compared to a device which is designed to run it.
P.S - This should not be in the development forum.
hd2 running andriod
hi im new to the forum thing but i know a bit about phones the hd2 running android is a very good option for you there are a few issues still effecting hd2s at the moment one is mms cannot recieve or send mms (pic msgs)and the other issue is the bluetooth its not a major issue as you can get a blutooth app from the store i run a build that uses the ram of my phone to speed up the build and i havent had any problems with it as of yet and its a lot quicker if your new to flashing i would just put the build on a 8gb sd card (you need to set it up first )but its a lot quicker than the normal builds that run from the sd card
if you have any problems let me know and ill get a reply asap

I want an hd2 because its sort of a cheaper alternative for me to use than to buy a samsung captivate or vibrate, and its one of the few GSM phones with its kind of specs at its price. Also ill be switching carriers in 6 months so i just want to use it until then.
And everyone else, thanks for the info, you've been a great help and if i need help ill ask again, and i wont try to clutter the forums, i didint realize there was a Q&A forum, my bad lol

If you use AT&T get a AT&T phone. . . Not because of any real reason except native carrier devices really do work better.
I had a unlocked iPhone forever and no 3g sucks. Even if you don't use it much, it's a waste not to have it.

Wow, i wish i had seen this before, sorry for the post and thanks alot for the help
Hi guys.
I know my question might sound dumb, but if some one could help me out it would be really helpful. So I'll explain my situation right now...
I purchased this iPhone 5s from Amazon and the seller was not an official retailer, instead this guy was selling unlocked US variant of iPhone 5s 16gb (at least this is what they said on Amazon site). And till 10.3.3 I had no notable issues, but ever since I jumped to iOS 11 (not BETA) my device started heating up & battery drain was immense. So I felt maybe I should do a factory reset, and I did so, then it turns out that, my device won't activate. I searched everywhere and couldn't find a solution for it and even if there is, then this SHSH blobs come into picture, which I wasn't aware of until I got this issue. Hence I do not have SHSH blobs for my device and Apple stopped signing iOS 11.3 and below versions. And activation through iTunes is saying that it's not able to obtain activation information from the device.
But then I stumbled upon a post where some guy mentioned that refurbished device cannot be activated starting from iOS 11. So I need someone's help, someone who has a signed iOS 10.3.3 update downloaded during the time when Apple was still signing them. I'm not sure if this would work, but I wish someone could share it with me. If anyone is having a copy of it kindly help me out...
These are my device details:
Model: A1533
Current firmware: iOS 11.3.1 (GSM)
Internal: 16gb
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I left Android years ago and switched to an iPhone 6s Plus I still have today.
One feature that I miss a lot from my old Android phones is FM Radio. I definitely want to return to Android world and Galaxy A8 is on my list (as it have FM Radio, as long as RDS and recording that interests me a lot).
Is it worth buying an A8 today or should I wait a bit for 2019 A phones ? Is the phone not too slow or buggy with latest updates ? And last thing, is Snapchat usable ? (I know it used to be a pain in the ass using Snapchat in Android, is it still the case ?)
Thanks by advance for your answers
I kmow with the A5 anyone can have an FM radio with the hades rom. Not sure if the A8 was made with the same hardware across the board.
It performs well and if you want it just for FM and you know it works in your region, sure.
But as far as roms it's on its own... not sure if other phones are coming out with the csc structure changed like this one is, so that is another thing.
Also you're only going to get pie i believe. So, a few months from now and that is all you may ever see unless a rom is in the making.
I'd look at something more mainstream so you get good use out of it. Up to you.
Ab+ 64gb 6gb ram I will have this phone for a long time.
Hello there, XDA Community,
I have to tell you that my concerns became real and a serious everyday issue for me; the 3G and 2G networks recently shut down in my country, and because AOSP-based ROMs don't have VoLTE support, my phone's capability to call people was lost and my phone became a glorified Android PDA, until I went back to stock OneUI or OneUI-based custom offerings. It is not even related to the specific ROM I was using: I flashed many AOSP ROMs and they all were not able to keep being connected to an LTE network when going into call mode, effectively losing signal until I rebooted the phone and saw an LTE coverage in the status bar up top.
As I LOVE stock/AOSP Android and I find Samsung's skin bloated and ugly-looking, it is essential to keep a phone's basic funcionality to call other people on the telephone network, but carreers are shutting down legacy technologies all around the world that we and I were heavily relying on every day (sometimes even backed by the governments they're cooperating with), so our only choice left is to support those newer technologies in AOSP ROMs that OneUI already does support, the moment you unbox the phone. I am currently forced to use the mess that is Samsung's stock software, but I would gladly go back to flashing a custom ROM on my phone the moment when an open-source reimplementation of the VoLTE driver gets released and I would be able to continue using my phone on AOSP ROMs seamlessly, just like before 3G got shut down.
You could say that I should try that myself, if that bothers me a lot; but it's not a matter of will, but rather skills to do it (or I should say a lack thereof as an IT college student only going into their second year next month), and as such, I would only be able to give directions to the project and beta test it on my S10e, but as I said, I have the need and will to contribute to reverse engineering the proprietary Samsung drivers for VoLTE, found in OneUI. I would do my best to keep using clean Android, as I find it sleeker, prettier and less bloated.
Do you think is that easy to decompile such a huge implementation? None of us will ever decode it, because it's too much. Stick with oneui and leave aosp if you want calls lol
Yes!! VOLTE needs to be fixed. AOSP > OneUI

Nope, I know it's not an easy fix, I and many others just would like to see a fix with the downfall of 2G and 3G networks.
I know it because emulation is basically a big melting pot of reverse engineered code for various retro systems, ranging from Atari to Xbox 360 and PS3. And I KNOW that some of these systems is hard to reverse engineer and emulate, like the Sega Saturn, the Nintendo 64 or the PS3.
I know that the VoLTE module is hard to access in the SoC, but I hope that we, the users of the S10 series can call again on AOSP ROMs because I simply like clean Android more than OneUI.
