Custom recovery lost ability to decrypt data. - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

My Poco F2 pro has had its MIUI totally reset by flashing the stock global rom via MiFlash
[lmi_eea_global_images_V12.2.6.0.RJKEUXM_20210408.0000.00_11.0_eea_c1fbd3f567] as well as its bootloader unlocked.
Then from the guides installed a custom recovery; TWRP via the usual command "fastboot flash recovery" so I am able to install Magsik then.
On a reboot back into TWRP the first time it then fails to mount data as the stock rom has no passwords setup at all.
I have tried other custom recoveries to see if they worked but none have after the first flash.
TWRP (twrp-3.4.0-14-lmi-mauronofrio & twrp-3.4.2b-1206), OrangeFox R11.1_0 and LineageOS recovery.
Have also tested by setting up a passcode then pin code but on boot of any custom recovery, they never ask for the code.
Oddly if from fastboot with PIN enabled and I boot into recovery via the command "fastboot boot NAME.img" it actually asks for the pin code but via button press on boot it does not.
My old Poco F1 was so easy to do over this one, totally stumped.

TWRP are still in development and do not yet have all of their features.(device have 1 years).
The 3.4.2b-1206 works best.
Schema security works.
The rom you installed is an EEA RJKEUXM rom not a global RJKMIXM.

Yeah sorry meant EEA version even though it has both in the name at the beginning.
Least was able to MiFlash stock, install TWRP then do magisk before a reboot and lose decryption (for now). Thank you.

If you want to stay on MIUI, have you tried the XIAOMI EU ROM? Works much better than stock roms with more options.

Oh yeah just found the links to xiaomi.eu for the better less bloated roms, nice one.
Will give it a try now I know how to decrypt easily with the fastboot boot command.

I've read about some bug on the latest MIUI that makes Magisk bootloop, but I don't know if that means we cant currently root. Any help is appreciated

Chinese ROM on global phone will give you bootloop, probably other way around as well
What if I'm on a global device on its stock software?

So just install magisk through twrp? On latest MIUI?
Oh, it shouldn't wipe my phone right? Sorry just came back to Android after several months.
Install magisk 17.3 via TWRP, work fine.

No need to wipe, either go to twrp - advanced - install root OR flash the magisk 17.1 or 17.3 zip.
Hey guys, I am very new to Android since i switched from iPhones now to the Mi Mix 3 (EU Version). I unlocked the bootloader already and have the adb drivers installed and when I try to boot into TWRP using "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img" into "fastboot boot TWRP.img" it will boot back into MIUI. I also tried some methods mentioned in various forums like
"1. Put phone in the fastboot mode (switch it off, then press and hold power + volume down for a couple of seconds)
2. Flash twrp through fastboot (fastboot flash recovery twrp.img)
3. Boot TWRP (fastboot boot twrp.img)
4. When phone screen become black, hold power + volume up until it vibrate then release all
5. The phone will boot into twrp "
but I never get the phone to go into the TWRP recovery mode. It either boots back into MIUI or into the MIUI Fastboot screen. Has anyone an idea? Should I try to reinstall the drivers or what could be the issue?
Thanks a lot in advance!!
Flashing TWRP
I had a similar issue (could not boot into recovery after flashing TWRP)
Rename twrp.whatever.img to "recovery.img", then,
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Magisk 19 works perfect also

I've already flashed the eu rom using this recovery, there was no problem. The above issue is coming while trying to create a backup.
So I did as instruction and flashed MIUI EU Stable ROM. For some reason when setting up the phone, any PIN, password or pattern I set up is good to go. But can't use it to unlock the phone or inside setting, it will tell me that the password is wrong. I've factory reseted multiple times to make sure i got the password/PIN correct. And it won't let me set up fingerprints as well. So I did some reading and maybe the problem is because MIUI only allow setting up PIN/fingerprint when device is encrypted? and the last zip file decrypted the device?
Anyone can help me with this? Thanks!

cc9 meitu edition (vela)
@Radzią
Hi, can you please make a twrp for cc9 meitu edition (vela)?
cc9 meitu version does not have any twrp or alternative rom. only chinese.
Alternatively, If you have the time, knowledge and motivation, maybe you can post a detailed tutorial on how you have created this twrp, [Recovery] TWRP-3.3.1-0709 XIAOMI_CC9-CN-wzsx150?
maybe I can try to port one myself based on your tutorial.
I have tried to port cc9 meitu twrp using many guides from the web, but did not succeed.
I uploaded the original recovery for cc9 meitu to here https://we.tl/t-NtcZIhWoiD
thanks.

Does Gpay work with bootloader unlocked and xiaomi.eu rom?
is the widevine L1 working?
is the hdr working
For installing updates, do we need to follow the dirty flash process via TWRP? I tried via the updater but the process simply restarts mobile and nothing happens.
New version of Xiaomi.eu ROM is out.
Question is how to updtae without losing data?
What's the problem? The test TWRP from mauronofrio can't decrypt data? Sry for the questions, I have not tested it yet

Yes, cant decrypt -> probably can't update.
Even if you do use OTG to read the .zip...
Will it overwrite to encrypted partitions? Won't that break the system?
Or
Will it boot fine - but will the updated ROM be able to read the probably still encrypted user data?

I have a Redmi note 8 with xiaomi.eu but I think I can help you. In order to update you flash the new zip. It just overwrites the system partition not the data. And you are still able to decrypt them. There is no problem I tried it. You will have to reflash magisk although. But in case anything goes wrong just format data and you will be fine.

Super weird... it didnt work for me... flashing was successful
but it keeps rebooting to fastboot mode.
While doing format data, i did receive an error message "unable to find /metadata" is that normal?
EDIT: So what happen is, I did all over again with slightly different steps
1) i reflashed official firmware to revive my phone
2) Once I'm able to boot on official ROM, I flash TWRP
3) Format Data + restart TWRP
4) Copied ROM and flash Xiaomi EU rom
5) Restart to system immediately after flashing ROM. Managed to boot Xiaomi EU rom.
6) Reboot to recovery and flash magisk
7) Restart to system, set up, and done.

I think he did it with the miflash tool. I had to do it so because I stucked in Fastboot mode.
I also had a problem with metadata. I have recovery aleks.msk, can enter fastboot but nothing else. Miflash does not work, uploading the firmware via recovery does not get up.
In fastboot mode copy latest xiaomi.eu zip (not the fastboot, the regular one)to the phone and flash it in twrp - reboot to system
Can anyone please post a link to Xiomi EU ROM. Can't find it. Thanks

HELP - Xiaomi Mi note 3 I can't take ROOT

HELP!
sorry for my english
I can't take ROOT on my Xiaomi Mi Note 3
I was able to unlock the Bootloader With Minimal ADB and Fastboot I control the phone in Fastboot mode
With the command, I can flash the phone:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I can access TWRP recovery (version 3.5.0_9-0) with the command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Because when I holding down Vol + and Power start the custom recovery (and I think this is the problem).
From TWRP recovery (booted from PC) I can install SuperSU without error but when I start the phone it is not rooted
Can anyone help me?
P.S. I made several attempts to install SuperSU in different versions (always without success) some of these caused the phone to stop booting and I always solved with this instruction. source
Code:
Reboot into TWRP, allow system changes... if your not prompted, in TWRP go to Mounts and make sure Mount System Read-Only is NOT checked, then from the main menu go to Advanced - Terminal and enter:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu (exactly as entered, only space is between echo and SYSTEMLESS)

One strange things(for me) the system was restored and erase all data
Your data was erased when you unlocked the bootloader. The magisk gives that error because you flashed supersu. You'll have to either reflash stock rom with miflash but without locking the bootloader or flash custom rom.

Oh nice, thank you for the rapid response. Unfortunately I do not yet have a X5 Pro, I'm actually waiting for custom roms to appear, ever since Xiaomi baked gestures into the stock launcher I stopped buying phones until I could custom rom. Nova Launcher is a must for me and using it without gestures feels wrong. I was just curious as to how you rooted without a custom recovery. Very interesting you are using magisk on a different device to patch the boot image in the fastboot rom, which I assume you will flash using the mi flash. Is that what's happening? Thank you.
