Hi, my dads almost new Poco X3 Pro is acting up. It's randomly waking up every now and then and whenever this happens the screen jumps around. It's impossible to stop it without shutting the phone down hard.
Your browser is not able to display this video.
Can someone tell me what is going on? It's not just waking up, it's basically unusable when this happens.
This is a hardware issue!
Take the phone to the nearest center and have it replaced.

Not sure about that, after the latest update "12.5.1" had a similar problem and it was because of an app, as soon as I opened the app (it was an screen dimmer to reduce brightness) the same exact thing happened to me. Rebooted the phone, uninstalled the app and never had the same problem again.
So it can be software related.
Is it a miui rom with locked bootloader?
Assuming your dad's phone did not unlock bootloader, bring it to Xiaomi authorized repair center.
This issue should be solved by them. It's not clear whether hardware or software issue.
It's for sure warranty covered at this timing.
If you've unlock bootloader, then check the policy of Xiaomi if they have warranty cover after unlocked bootloader. Different countries/ regions have different policy and warranty coverage.
Thanks everyone for your hints.
The phone is around 4 weeks old, all stock, bootloader still locked, no modifications whatsoever.
I not completely sure but it might be that these problems started occuring after an update, so I might look into what trambolique said and uninstall any occurences of "hey dad, where the heck did you get this app from?".
Edit: Tbh I have no clue how the whole warranty policy is for Xiaomi devices here in Germany. I'll have to look into this if the problem persists.

You said bootloader is still locked. So you don't have to worry about warranty policy. It is definitely covered under warranty.
If removing apps don't fix the issue, go find Xiaomi to fix this.
They will likely tell you to factory reset first though. So you can try before going to them, but back up your dad's data, photo, movie, videos, anything important, etc.

In Germany, the seller is always your first point of contact within the legally prescribed two-year warranty. In the first six months (or one year nowadays?) after purchase, the dealer also has the burden of proof that the device you purchased was not already delivered with a defect.
As far as I know, there is no loss of warranty within the EU when opening the bootloader / rooting the phone.
Quick update: I went through all of his apps and disabled all unnecessary notifications. Until now (24h later) the problem hasn't appeared since. I will wait for a few more days to be sure and I'll also experiment with some useful notifications but at the moment my guess is that it's a software issue.

I'm glad you resolved it! I was pretty sure it was software related, some issue about permissions or something like that with the new update.

I asked the guys at service center and they told me there's no problem in the availability of spare components or motherboards for Galaxy R.
I don't know why this is happening with some of the guys on this forum.
They are being absolutely foolish and must have got through insane loss due to HORRIBLE stock India firmware and must have replaced motherboards of 100% of the units coming for repair as they can not officially install other country firmware and no other firmware is available for India!
Imagine the kind of losses they have gone through just because they had a buggy firmware! I don't understand why the dev team who developed such firmware wasn't fired immediately and a new firmware written or the other country firmware ported to India.
I can't do anything other than pulling my hair seeing such a silly situation when they stopped selling these phones and later offering refund when you go with a dead phone which again could well be due to the horrible firmware slowly eating the phone through continuous freeze/reboot cycles.
TERRIBLE!

So do you think this is because of INDIAN firmware, if we flash I9103ZSKK5 (2.3.6) which is non INDIAN firmware we can save our mobile from these kind of issues..
It has nothing to do with firmware , but probably the tegra .
Herpderp Defy.
The problem I think is not in Tegra otherwise many other handsets using Tegra would also face similar issues.
The problem could be due to a faulty batch of Galaxy R s manufactured from the Samsung plant itself. And that batch could have been unfortunately destined for India.
Not every handset in India has these problems, so I think only a faulty batch is the culprit, as not everyone is facing the issues.
If everyone in every handset had been facing these issues then the model would have been taken off the market.

i am also assuming the same i found in so many blogs mainly INDIAN handsets are only getting problems which are released in 2012..
Had you guys rooted your phones? Had customer ROM/Kernel's installed? Wonder if the either of these have made the phone die, or wonder if its the hardware batch?!! Hmm?!!! What was the date on the box?
Also, if you had rooted it and had custom ROM, Samsung guys agreed for the refund??
+1 cooleagle..
imo its got nothing to do with faulty rom or faulty processor.. just that that piece was a faulty h/w piece..
i never had a single reboot or freeze with my indian rom.. but i am currently at infected v1..

Yeah probably faulty hardware. Its good that they are getting the full refund. But, when in such a situation and you have installed different ROM/Firmware/kernel and your phone does not even boot up. You don't have option to even restore back. So, was asking guys whether they had rooted the phones and still they are getting the refund as Sammy guys also had no way to check it up?!!
I want to know if the Galaxy R is root,
and the phone hardware is broken,
Samsung service center will repair the phone in the warranty?

My phone freezes every other day, Touchscreen does not respond, My screen weirds up and selects **** on its own, I cant hear a person on the other side sometimes when I call...I have to reboot it to get it solved. Is the firmware faulty, or is it a hardware problem. Please revert back. I have been trying to adjust with these problems for the past 4 months hoping for a firmware update. Help me, Should I go to the service centre and ask for a replacement. And yes I have not rooted it with any ROM's it is as stock as it can get.

I suggest stick with the phone for a month or so.Even I face problems with my phone occasionally. The ICS update is expected within a month which I feel will solve the bugs which have been affecting our phone. If you are still not satisfied after the update then you can think of asking for a replacement/refund
That was quick! But then, correct me if I am wrong the warranty is for 6 months?
And I am not sure if we are going to be updated it with ICS in 2 months.

As far as I understand the warranty on the battery and accessories is for 6 months, the handset itself is secure for 1 year.So no worries there. And the ICS update is expected within the next 1.5 months.
The point is if the bugs are to such an extent that they are really hampering your everyday usage then you should get it replaced soon. In my case I need to restart my phone probably once a day and it really doesnt affect me that much
I hope they come up with a update soon enough. They don't even have the courtesy to come up with a 2.3.6 update to fix these bugs.
It is quite annoying when i have to reboot my phone. It takes a while to reboot.
Anyways, Thanks and Cheers bud!
No such problem faced by me.
My touchscreen was giving some issues and stopped responding altogether in a particular region, so i went in to the service center and my Galaxy R was repaired in about 30 mins. The whole LCD unit was changed.
And no such problems (reboots, hanging of phone) have been faced by me! I am on stock Indian firmware 2.3.5 (Latest here) and i have only rooted it, no custom kernel for me.

Hey guys. I have a problem I tried to speak Spanish as forums but got HTCMania solve anything.
Before I thought it was problem of CM 11 that I turned off the phone suddenly (not restart, it shuts down) and occurred 1 time every 3 or 4 days, now increasingly occurs more often, yesterday I turned off the phone 6 times, this night while sleeping 3 times went out. It made me late for work again because the phone was turned off and the alarm did not go off ... following tips, did not solve anything. I factory reset everything I installed the stock ROM without root or anything, I installed Paranoid Android, SlimKat, Illusion ... nothing, with all the ROM I just turn off the phone. Not have more than 3 ½ months of use and this has been happening since 1 month. I gather it can be battery problem or the device itself, but it is something that has no solution for me. I live in Venezuela and bought me phone my mother and sent from Spain, along with the bootloader already unlocked, the warranty is not going to accept me or have possibility to send. I have searched a thousand Internet sites (Venezuela because the outside you can not buy anything here) and I do not find the battery moto G, to buy and to me installed in a technical service, but even on Amazon U.S. found nothing .
I fell into despair because I can not find any solution, I've calibrated the battery and also keeps shutting off, so I already was without resources, ideas and nothing to do but to stay with the phone and continuously be aware that if the phone turns off,,,, I have to turn it on again, buy an alarm clock to not be late for work again.
Continue pending if anyone can give me some solution, try anything, because nothing I lose ... buy a phone in this country is an impossible task because notice that a regular phone range Moto G (which is cheaper) costs Complete 4 months my salary.
Again thank you very much for your help and am awaiting any news that they can provide me. Hughs
I can't help you, nor I'll even bother trying.Your phone probably has some hardware fault ( too much gaming on it? ).
But what I wanted to tell you is that, you shouldn't have screwed around with your phone, if you can't afford to lose it. You should have never unlocked the bootloader in first place.
A lesson has been learned.

I unlocked the bootloader because I live far from the site where phone was bought. if phone got any problem I can't send it to warranty anytime so whats suposed I must to do? to be on stock frimware and don't root my phone? so all we must do that? then can't understand why there are lot of scene about root ROMs and all that. of course I know my rosks when I unlock my bootloader and root my phone but is my decission, if noone must unlock the bootloader then this kinds of forums would be useless.
Anytime, this community is the best for this kind of scene, root, ROMs and all around that.
I didn't play too much just played a bit, you really think that suposed hardware problem is because I rooted my phone? I bought it 3 1/2 mounth ago and I didn't have any problem, just 1 mounth ago started with this. I think is a factory problem, maybe hardware maybe battery, but not around root or ROM installed.
I was asking just because maybe someone got the same problem and can help be. I appreciate your cooperation like all kind of cooperation but need solutions, not lessons of what I souldn't do.
Thanks anytime

3- restart your phone and check.

Hi.
So I own a P905 and initially faced a lot of blue screens when I tripped Knox and didn't fully freeze it (It would occur after 5-10 minutes of normal usage). Now around once a month, I encounter the blue screen of death with low processor usage tasks like opening a single tab of Chrome to open a jpeg file. I've used PPSSPP, other emulators and 3D games and they don't seem to trigger the blue screen. Is there another possible cause for it?
The same issue
I have the same problem. Twice I have replaced my Pro P907a and the problem is exactly the same. I've done everything, but I could not solve anything. I hope that a good brain can with it.
By that I have no hope in Samsung, they can not control their own monsters.
Best regards and keep trying and waiting
Never rooted, never saw a bluescreen. And ues, those two are completely related.
It's the root access that causes the bluescreens. If you don't root, you don't get a bluescreen.
The issue lies with KNOX not liking the modified security status, which is rather the point of a security system....

Came here for some answers about my blue screen experience, and I wanted to comment on this. I've not rooted the device yet and it happens often enough to be annoying. At first I thought it was overheating as it only happened on graphic heavy apps (games) but it has happened on simpler apps. I contacted Samsung Live Chat about it. That was useless. They never asked when or how it happened. They just asked me to run the device in safe mode to see if it happens again.
Do the blue screens only happen on certain rooted models of the Note Pro 12.2?
I have a rooted P900 and I haven't seen a blue screen.

This is the exact email confirmation I received also after sending my tablet in to Samsung for repair of BSOD. I also managed to take a picture of it and upload it on their website and send along with the tablet itself. I have to say that it is now fixed. I have not had any problems whatsoever since receiving my tablet back almost 3 weeks ago and I could literally make the BSOD happen whenever I felt like it just by running a graphic intense program, or just by browsing the Internet.
The good thing for me is I got it off of Ebay for a good price with extras. I then looked it up on Samsung's website and it was still under a 1 year warranty, so I filled out all the information they required and sent it back. No questions asked, no proof of purchase, and I never even talked with a representative. I even put in there that I bought it from Ebay. Three weeks later, the tablet arrived in 100% working order.
So, from my experience, I think your tablet will be fixed just as mine was.

That is good to hear. I bought mine refurbished off ebay as well. I think it's from the same vendor as some other AT&T Note Pro that others here bought theirs. It's supposed to be delivered this afternoon. I'll follow up with my results soon.
Looking forward to your follow up.
Sent my ATT Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 for service after chatting with online support. Never rooted, never modified in anyway. I uploaded a picture of it in blue screen state to drop box and sent the chat rep a link to the drop box jpeg. I told the rep it randomly happens. I also told the rep I had done all the factory reset steps and safe mode start up and it still randomly happens. They created a ticket and sent me a shipping label. I uploaded the jpeg of bluescreen state to the service tracker on Samsung's site and named the jpeg "AT&T Galaxy Note Pro Random Blue Screen then shuts down". They received the tablet today and within 6 hours the status shows "FCL (Blue Screen)" next note reads "Replaced PBA-Replaced Component-Pass Functionality Test-Device has left technician". Final note reads "Passed QC-Preparing for shipping". Hopefully this fixes it. Has been an issue since I opened it up after buying from AT&T store.
Drama ... yesterday a line (+/- 10) green pixels that remain constant GREEN on the edge (dead pixels).
I went to the store, when they are going to sign up for repair and they think this is a guarantee (well i d*mn hope so...).

I don't think it's about being rude. It's about their terms and conditions. Maybe a good lawyer could argue the case for you, but might be cheaper to buy a new phone.

It's not about being rude or not. It's staying true to their terms and conditions, which you should read when you buy the phone.
You could try and sway the person that take your phone in, sometimes when they hear your story they tend to agree with you. My gf did it once with the whole story of being poor and out of a job, heartbroken, etc. the whole package.
Its a cheap way for them to refer to the terms and conditions. Even when the problem isnt even attached to ROOT...
However, they will send it back without repairing then right?
The problem is not your phone issue.
The problem is you root the phone.
Once root = no warranty.
Story end and nothing to do with they are rude if they not give you warranty.
Terms already mentioned means once you root = no warranty, nor-matter the faulty issue had to do with root or not.

Actually, it's not that simple.
In some parts of Europe, and other countries, the consumer laws mean that the device is still covered under warranty if it's a hardware failure that is not caused by rooting the device, or something along those lines.
The fault described in the OP is a common one that has been around for years on many Galaxy devices. I would say the OP may be lucky and will get it repaired under warranty.

The problem with "fit for purpose" claims is that Samsung's interpretation may be different than the customers. So no matter what the "law" if Samsung says no than the customer has to spend untold time and energy navigating the legal process to emerge victorious. That can take weeks or months. It's hard to make a multi-billion company do something against its will.
I'm an Australian user with Telstra. I dropped my S8+ in the first two weeks and cracked the screen. I have insurance on the phone where they send out a replacement phone and you just send in the damaged one within 14 days. Mine is rooted with custom rom of course, so all I did was flash back the stock firmware and all was good. My point is that you may be lucky and your chances may be higher if you go back to stock, they may not check and you may be lucky. I did the same with my S7 as well.. I must stop dropping my phones when I get them.

Back to stock with odin, and then went to the store is what i did
So no traces of custom roms/kernels/bootlogo's etc etc, just stock. Only thing as said, Knox0x1, but it is not related to the dead pixels.
Hoping for the best, i will keep you guys up to date
Thanks for all the responses.
You are from Netherlands so EU laws affect you. That means that Samsung must fix hardware issues regardless of software (including knox) status.

I would guess through Telstra.
I have my phone insured with Allianz with my home and contents - if I ever break my phone or it fails due to a hardware failure, I just pay $100 excess and get the phone replaced with a brand new one or one of the same value.
Haven't had to use this yet, but I did ask about custom ROM status and they said they don't care, as long as I pay the insurance excess, I keep the old broken phone and get a new phone.

Yea could be. Reason I ask is that if it was Telstra, he was bloody lucky to get it replaced with it rooted. Usually they are really strict with **** like that

Yeah I had to fight to get my S3 replaced after I rooted it and then 10 months later I dropped it and the screen fell off. They said that even though it's physically damaged the root could have damaged internal components.

They cant be that rude to their customers? It has literally nothing to do with the problem

Can you be sure of that? It's possible for a rooted phone to bypass software that prevents the phone from running past its physical tolerances, so the rooted phone becomes capable of damaging its own hardware. Isn't that the reason they void the warranty if the phone has ever been rooted?
The display problem is presumably a hardware fault. I don't know if or how you could rule out that the fault had been software-induced while the phone was rooted.
Got it back finally after 11 weeks. New display and battery under warranty. Case closed.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's a well known fact that triggering Knox invalidates your warranty, FULL STOP.:crying:

Yup, and nobody knowes it better than me, coz when i took it to Samsung repair store, they told me that repairing my phone would cost £290 and I would have to pay as i've made the warranty invalid by rooting.
Gutted...but had to pay.
Matt
I bought the phone from the official website about 2-3 months ago.
Like everyone who got it, I was amazed by how snappy it was, also the wifi signal was the best in all my phones.
From time to time I did notice occasional complete signal drops.
Being summer I went in a foreign country where I didn't use the phone signal at all, so the phone was on airplane mode for a week.
When I came home the issues persisted so I contacted oneplus support.
The resolutions where the following:
1. Network settings reset
2. Master reset of the phone
3. Updating the phone to the latest update by ota updates
4. Full flash of the phone (using a pc and files supplied by oneplus, )
5.Updating again because the software was older
Now of course nothing worked, and the last step was that I had to take logs .
Logs were sent to them for more than 10 days and still I got no resolution.
My phone is broken, I cant make a call whatsoever, or be called for that matter, the only way i cant call or be called is if i set the phone to 2G only, and then people cant hear me.
Doesn't matter if on 4g/3g/2g the signal drops regularly rendering the phone useless .
I emailed the support but they keep pushing me by stating that they need to analyse the logs.
What would you guys do?
I mean , that a device that in the first 2 months has problems, no drops, no splashes, not even root.....there has to be a law or something to protect the customer in situations like this....
If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to share, for other people ...well you've been warned.

I would flash the phone back to the latest stock oos through fastboot again first and see if the problem is resolved. If not then I would send it to OnePlus for a replacement. I had the same issue back in the day with a Note 3 that had radio issues and it ended up being a bad phone.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
That was step 4, they did that for me, but they used a software ,,quallcom something'' it was basically a odin like app , flashed the entire phone ,system modem ..all of it
I would psot the files but they sent me in a password protected zip and then they deleted the files
Send it in for repair or replacement. It's up to OnePlus how they handle this case. You have done more than enough.
You should add a date (14 days max) when you expect your or a new device back. Else they must refund you.
Are you sure that your SIM card is good? Does the SIM card work in another phone?

Then send it back - has to be a hardware issue with the phone itself
OP like to ignore RMAs.

Off course they do. If they continue to refuse, point out to hand the matter over to a lawyer within 7 workdays.

So after 10+ days from posting the logs, and a lot of back and forth useless mails they are saying the same stuff.
This will be my last one+ product
So the story ended by oneplus repairing the phone.
The motherboard was changed.
