Not happy with app options droppef - LG Velvet Questions & Answers

I've just had my Velvet for about a week, so still getting used to it.
I've got 2 complaints:
I use the memo+ app to record meds and time taken every day. Each file is long with one month filled every day with type and time.
My old LG 6 had an option to start file at either the top or bottom of page and came in handy at beginning and middle of month. I cannot find it on the velvet !
Second issue is there is no real multi screen. The LG 6 had all open apps viewed as stacked on top of each other, like PC "windows" apps. You could quickly switch from one to another by tapping any app. I can only find swipe apps, as in the old BlackBerry tablet, but slower and smaller.
Is it just me or have these two options been dropped and if so why ???

Go to Recent App screen, click the icon for the app and choose Pop up Window to get windows apps

How to refresh Today?

I have a little problem regarding the size of the desktop / Today screen on my PDA (Wizard @ WM6).
When I connect my PDA to my PC with AS, additional icon appears in the tray (even though I removed init_tray.lnk) - but that's not the problem itself.
The problem is that additional sliding bar appears on the right side of the screen. The Today plugins do not fit the Desktop anymore, so all the contents of Today is "squezzed" and moved a little bit to the left to make space for the sliding bar.
When I disconnect, the icon & additional bar disappear but the Today items do not go back to fill the whole screen, but keep "squeezed" :O I haven't managed to find any option to refresh Today screen in order to make it filled with the plugins again.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this, please?
Its a long shot, but if you were to go to Settings->Today-> Items, and click on ok (without doing much there), most of the plugins will refresh.
You could try this.....

That would almost certainly work - if you fancy a few less taps to achieve the same result, then there is a program that should (not tested it myself, so not 100% sure!) do the job for you.
Get it from http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=refresh_today - the author, t0flus, is an xda-devs member (his Group SMS app is posted on one of the forums), so he may be able to offer assistance if needed.
I'm guessing all you'd need to do is to copy the exe onto your phone and stick a shortcut to it in your programs menu.
Cheers,
Mark.
I have the same problem on mine and all I do is slide the keyboard out about halfway so it changes the screen to landscape and then slide it back in and everything goes back to the way it was before. No software needed.

Windows mobile 6.5.1 Task Manager Tab "fix"

This is not a fix to get the drop down box working like in winmo 6.1/6.5 but it is a fix to be able to launch the task manager from nearly anywhere without having to launch the anything. I thought that it'd be great if I could write a program that let you gesture from anywhere in the phone to launch an app. But I don't have the skill and with every great idea I have someone has already thought of it. So I google searched and got an answer.
The program is called, FTouchSL, I am running the trail version currently but it costs 10 Euro. So about +/- $15. I like it so far and it works great. (You can find the older 'Free' Beta versions by searching.)
What this does is allow you to set 'gestures' and gesture areas that will allow you to launch any program you want, almost anywhere in your phone. For instance, I have mine set up to use two gesture motions to do 2 different thnings.
The first is, up and left, which launches "Showcase" those of you with Shadoline's latest ROMs will know that this is a new task manager. (I think from HTC. I'm not sure) I love this cause now I can access the task manager without leaving the current program im in. No wasted time. I can also easily go back to a proggram I previously had open whilst I'm in another. Say I wan't to go back to Opera after reading a txt message. Do the swipe, taskman opens and bam back to Opera. No need to got find it in the start menue or the home screen.
The second gesture I have set up is, up and right, which minimizes the program. I love that I could set it to minimize because it's just convinient. Lets say I get a txt and I'm in Opera. We all know (Those with 6.5.1) that you have to click the tab, then the main menue button, then exit then yes. Well the problem with this is that Opera is now shut down all the way. Sure you could hit the end button but makng a gesture is so much more... well.... Magical!
I may add a, Down and Right, motion to send me to my txt messages since clicking on the task bar only lets you see the message and not actually go to it. There are a total of 8 gestures that can be set up and 4 'Hot Corner' buttons.
A Warning - You may have to play with the settings a bit to get this to work right for you. I suggest making the bottom gesture area taller than the Manila Tabs if your using manila or higher than the bottom bar if not. And start the gesture above the Tabs or Bottom bar. For the left and right areas I founf that 80px works well. and set the Delay to 2000 ms or more if you want to. Or else you will have to be very quick about makeing the gesture.

[DISCUSSION] ADW Launcher general (not device specific)

A new version of ADW Launcher was released in late October 2012--both free and EX version.
Many things changed from the previous version.
Quite a few people say "it is better," but I have some issues. First, a phenomenon never seen with the previous version...often, after 'doing things,' when the phone returns to the home screen, there are no icons for brief to not-so-brief time. Very disconcerting. They do eventually populate, but it is shocking when it happens and does not leave the impression of a well-produced app.
Second, with previous versions, I =LIVED= with using the dots placed left and right of the bottom dock to move (navigate) from screen to screen. Those have disappeared, even from the fee version. On my phone, using swipes to move the screen usually launches the app your finger first touches to do the swipe--very annoying. Emails to the dev asking if the navigation dots will return have not been answered.
(NOTE: I am not talking about the INDICATOR dots at top that show what screen you are currently on.)
I present this for people who may be considering ADW to know. The previous versions I highly recommend; the latest, I do not unless issues are resolved.
Anyone know an alternative way to show opened apps? When i used Nova i could set one like "pinch out" or something.. On ADW i can't fine the way to do that.. Ι avoid using home button every time..
A new update for ADW EX was just released 11-06-12, 1.3.3.7 on my phone.
It did not put back in the dots that will navigate to different screens.
Also, the phenomenon of icons being completely missing (blank screen) after settings changes remains as well.
Disappointment continues.
Its crap. I use menu button unlock in my phone and when I do it pops up the settings screen. No way to disable it. I sent an email to the dev and got no response. going back to the old one.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4g using xda premium

He has not answered any of my two emails to him either.
Does anyone have the old ADW apk? I have a TitaniumBackup, but file in it is not the apk. ???
Attached is a screenshot to prove I have the EX version. If you only have non-EX, I will even use that--I hate this new version so much.
The ghost icons effect happens to me each time I change any ADW setting, for me it is no problem because I think it is due to the need of restarting app to make changes happen. I prefer the old scheme when you press the menu button, but I think it is just a matter of habit. Anyway, bugless for me as the previous one, and quite smooth, more than Go Launcher for example, at a friend's Galaxy 3 it makes the phone itself way faster than with Go Launcher.

I just don't see anything that is better than before, and several (important to me) things that are much worse...the "ghost" icons--I call them disappeared icons as they are gone for a LONG time on my phone, and the removal of the navigation dots for screen moves, which was my total navigation mode.
When I swipe to move screens, half the time I activate an app where my finger first touches the screen. Argghhh! I need the dots back. Author won't even answer.
OK, I think I have had a mind out of body situation here...
I deleted the new ADW EX and installed the old one (1.3.3.56). Am in the process of adding my shortcuts to the various 7 screens and setting the options and dock.
BUT...
the main reason I switched back was to get back my "navigation dots" left and right of the dock that I used to navigate from screen to screen. I cannot find how to turn the on in the options.
I have looked and looked. Can someone have mercy on me and tell me how those are commanded to be there, please?
(I KNOW they used to be available because I used them ALL THE TIME to move to different screens.)

Oneplus One - App & Folder names missing - Stock Cyanogenmod

Hello,
I received my new Oneplus One a few days ago, and so far I'm very impressed!
However, today after organizing my apps into folders and then naming those folders, it seems that App and folder names are missing from the home screen (They still show in the app drawer). The option to name or rename folders is no longer there either.
Is there is a setting that was changed accidentally? I can't find anything in settings that seems to be related to this. I'm running stock CM 11.0-XNPH33R.
Found it by holding on the home screen, sliding open the menu, then selecting "SHOW" under Home Screen "Icon Labels". Can't believe I missed it.

[Completed] Google Play App Update Popups

Having hunted for a thread about this and coming up empty handed, I've decided to ask it myself. Recently (within the past three months I would say) Google updated the Play Store to give you these popups on the bottom of the screen for whenever an app is auto-updated inviting you to back the app up. These popups take up about a third of the screen on my new Note 5; it was far worse on my old galaxy nexus. Furthermore, the popup will close the keyboard and change the focus of the screen, meaning that in order to get back to composing a message you must do three things: wait for this unnecessary notification to go away, then tap the screen so the focus goes back to the app you were using, and tap again inside your text box. If the app you were using is particularly sloppy, this loss of focus might actually also clear the text field.
Even if you're not doing anything important however, a sudden popup that takes up a third of the screen is enough to send you to the loony bin if you react the way you would like to and you're in a public place. Now, there is no setting available in the play store related to this. The popups contain a check box that allows you to specify "never show again," but short of waiting until I intercepted each and every last one of them for each and every last auto updated app, there doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of these horrible things. I could possibly disable all notifications from the play store through the apps menu in the settings, but that would be counter productive. Has anyone managed to get rid of this awful feature? And is there anyone that we can hang for coming up with that idea in the first place? After all, one of the best things about notifications on Android (at least previously) is that they specifically DON'T interrupt you; they're up there in the notification panel where they belong!

You did not mention about the exact device model.
However there is a general forum for android here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where you can get better help and support if you try to ask over there.
Good luck.
