There is no working TWRP for OOS 11, so you can flash this via fastboot.
I was looking into porting TWRP for OOS 11, but when I dump a list of partitions on my device there is no recovery partition at all.
It looks like OnePlus A/B devices have recovery within the boot image, so that makes things a little more complicated than I can handle myself.

Not unless you have to unlock your bootloader first, then yes. It'll wipe your phone. If your bootloader is already unlock, no it won't wipe anything.

One plus switch only backup the apps not their data, permission etc. Not sure of contacts and sms.
I would suggest backing up all your data,on a pc and go from there. Once you are rooted , backing up data and restore is easy.

Oneplus updated the OnePlus 6's Bootloader and you may ask yourself 'Can i still root?'
The answer is yes. It is easy.
1. At first, your bootloader has to be unlocked
2. Just download the Twrp.img and the Twrp installer from twrp.me, then the latest magisk installer
3. Put the magisk.zip and twrp installer zip into the root of your device and boot into bootloader
4. Now you have to open a new shell or cmd window in your adb folder, then type "Fastboot devices" there
5. If your phone is recognized, then do this command: " fastboot boot .\twrp-3.2.1-0-enchilada.img"
6. The op6 should boot into the TWRP, there type in your pincode, pattern, or what so ever you have. If you get a message because of system modification, click 'Keep read only'
7. Go to 'Install', then flash the TWRP installer zip, then magisk right after it
8. Just reboot and enjoy
The procedure is the same as always. I can confirm it's working because i rooted a few minutes ago
Just keep in mind the kernels and custom roms haven't been updated to 5.1.7 base yet and may not work until they are.

Based on how things have been going so far, people are going to be asking. Just saying.
i understand butttttttttttttttttttttt this forum is flooded with how to flash twrp, how to root with 5.1.6, how to install 5.1.5 with twrp ect ect ect lol just trying to reduce clutter and make things a tad bit simpler. No offense guys lol
So if I already have twrp and Magisk installed is the method still the same?
Will this update lock the bootloader back?
Pretty sure I swiped to allow system modifications on my first twrp installation so will that matter?

What were the steps you followed if you don't mind?
Maybe someone will upload the full rom?
anyone tried hiding system updates inside magisk hide ?
it now shows only 224 update (canadian vpn), hence don't know what it will do when you take that route, anyone ?
Does anyone happen to have this? I used the 9.5.3 img for the TWRP with working decrypt, and it booted fine once, however now it keeps booting back to TWRP despite selecting "reboot system." I think someone mentioned they had it, but I can't find it for the life of me. Thanks so much!

In case you still need it, I'm fairly certain this is the boot image for GM31CB 9.5.5. I extracted it from my own device when I was flashing the international firmware. I will be honest, it might have the Chinese TWRP patched in. I doubt it though since it I can't find any of the TWRP files in the decompiled image.

Hi, I wanted to flash Xiaomi. Eu rom in my Poco f2 pro, but I have some questions I wanted to ask as I am a newbie.
1:After unlocking Bootloader, DO I need to install TWRP recovery or can I flash Xiaomi.eu rom using stock recovery or fastboot or using updates? Kindly provide info about this if possible without twrp
2:In Xiaomi.eu will the updates will keep coming like global original rom or in updates, its size would be more than 1 GB at least, or it would be like original rom
what would be the procedure of updates
3:Is Xiaomi.eu rom better than every way then original rom?
4:If I need to install recovery, Do I need to remove decryption first, or it's not necessary?
Thank You in advance.

You can follow their installation guide: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-12-0-stable-release.56191/.

For updates, wipe Cache/Dalvik in TWRP then install the new ROM over the old one. Be sure that you are installing ROMs from the same channel (Stable or Weekly) and that you are not downgrading, otherwise you would need to format data.

During installation, you need to format data in TWRP which removes encryption by itself. No need to flash any other disable encryption ZIPs.

Wait what? I'm on xiaomi.eu 12.0.8 and my data is definitely encrypted. Meaning I have to enter my lockscreen password after I boot into TWRP, otherwise it's unable to mount any of the partitions (well actually, it does mount them but I only see garbage folder names, can't do anything else except wipe).

Encryption = setting up password/PIN/pattern. To remove encryption in TWRP, simply remove any password/PIN/pattern that you set up on lockscreen.

I'm not sure how you went about rooting it originally, but if you have only flashed boot.img and nothing else. Then yes that is how I would go about doing it on my phone, if I was wanting to go back to locked bootloader. I don't see any issue with doing that after you install the stock boot.img.
