Bare minimum apps required to use Dialer app of a phone on another? - General Questions and Answers

I have a OnePlus 7 Pro running on OxygenOS 10. I want to use the Dialer app that comes with OxygenOS 11, but don't want to upgrade my complete OS to 11. I made a thread in the OP7P forums but no one has answered it yet.
I am rooted with Magisk, so I figured I could simply replace system priv-app apks (namely TeleService.apk, Dialer.apk, TelephonyProvider.apk, Telecom.apk) with the OOS 11 ones but it is not working. I am a noob when it comes to understanding permissions and sysconfig xml files, and any other technical files that also need to be edited/replaced along with the apk.
Can anyone tell me what is the standard procedure to do such a task?
Of course, a detailed answer is greatly welcomed, but even a push in the right direction would help me a lot.

Singature spoofing

Hey guys, I was hoping if you can help me out a little. I have some basic coding experience C++ and python. I wanted to add signature spoofing to the OP7 pro, but can't seem to find any place that supports oxygen OS/android pie. This is only because I wanted to remove Gapps and replace them with MicroG and custom apps. Can any of point me in the right direction? My second issue is related to data use. When I use custom roms I can't seem to access my internet via data, however, when I connect to the wifi there doesn't seem to be any problem with it. If you guys have any solutions to this let me know. I was using Havos os or lineage on my OP 7 pro

Don't know anything about signature spoofing. But the cell data problem, sounds like you may need to enter the proper APN info for your carrier.

Copy LG apps to OnePlus6

Hi guy’s,
I’m running a stock standard (not rooted) OnePlus 6 running Android 9.0.7. I have just upgraded from an old LG G2 running Android 5.0.2
I was wondering if any one can tell me if it is possible to copy a couple of LG apps from my old LG G2 phone to the new OnePlus 6.
I would really like to copy the Contacts, Messaging, File manager Phone & Gallery apps if it’s possible across to the new phone. I have tried to copy the *.apk files for some of these apps over to the phone using file manager and execute them but this fails. I have also used the same method to copy another app such as ZDNet as a test case and that works ok. I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to try next. Is this even possible & can anyone suggest anything ? I’m new to this so if you can keep any replies relatively simple I would appreciate it. I would really appreciate any help I can get, thank you.

The LG system apps may require there framework to run correctly. Try to download the newest version from Apkmirror and see if that will work.

Updating Pixel 3 on Android 9 to Android 10 questions build.prop/process

Good day everybody,
A few questions about upgrading my pixel 3 from 9 to 10. To preface I have an unlocked bootloader and am rooted on the June 2019 version of android. I would like to update to android 10 and am wondering if one of my modifications to the build.prop would still work. I use the following modification for enabling hotspot:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
Can anybody confirm that this still works on Android 10?
Also, huge noob question - Where is the guide for updating from 9 -> 10 with root/unlock, and do I lose my data in the process? I can't seem to find anything but how to sideload monthly updates.
Thank you in advance for any help
To edit /system or /vendor you need to use magisk and do it systemlessly. A10 no longer allows you to directly modify these partitions. There is some discussion about exactly what you want to change under the guides section in the Pixel 3xl forum. For the second one, there is a guide somewhere in the guides section in this forum. You will need to do a full wipe with a version change. Look into different ways to back up your stuff before you switch. For apps and app data I did a twrp backup before switching then used titanium backup once on A10 to extract the app/data and restore it. For other stuff you might need to do it manually.
Follow this method for the Magisk based tethering modification:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/how-to-native-tethering-rooted-pixel-3-t3858662
(Works on Pixel 3)

[CLOSED][Magisk Module] Framework-res Mod OnePlus 7 Oxygen OS Stable/Beta

Hi,
I am happy to share my Framework-res mod, specific for Oneplus 7 with Openbeta firmware.
My work includes the following changes:
- Disabled keyboard switcher notification
- Disabled high volume warning
- Enabled burnin protection
- Changed battery notification low level from 15% to 10%
- Enabled 360° rotation
- Reduced navigation bar height from 48dp to 41dp
It is a magisk module and I want to repeat that it can only be used on Oneplus 7 with Openbeta firmware
I'm trying it and it doesn't seem to show any problems but I still recommend making a backup before trying it.
To remove the mod, simply uninstall the module using magisk manager or, if this is not usable, from recovery twrp, using the file manager deleting the module "Framework-res mods" that you find at the following path:
/data/adb/modules
My big thanks go to @Tulsadiver, for giving me the right tips to be able to make the mod and for passing me the VRThemer module, without His help I would not have been able to avoid the bootloop
P.S. If you want the mod for other firmware versions, please send me your framework-res.apk and I will prepare the specific module.
If you want to try making the mod yourself, check out the tutorial here
Flashing always at your own risk!!!

It works with any oxygenos based software (it doesn't work with AOSP rom) regardless of the kernel used
Could you pass me the framework-res.apk of the stable version? I would also like to prepare the specific mod for OxygenOS stable version.
Thank you.
Thanks. Worked perfectly.
Added OnePlus 7 OpenBeta 12 specific module to the first post
This is the framework-res.apk for the stable 10.3.1 oxygen os oneplus 7. Could you make a version for this too? I could help with the testing. Thank you!
(Uploading drive link cause xda doesn' t allow upload of apk more than 20MB.)

Sure it is possible!
I need the stock framework-res.apk from 10.0.6Gm57BA firmware, If You or Someone else who uses this firmware extracts it and sends it to me, I create the specific firmware magisk module
Added to the first post the module for OnePlus 7 OpenBeta 16 firmware.
Hi there @dianoandr
I have been trying to modify my OP7T framework-res apk to edit the vibe pattern which is contained under arrays.xml in values folder. However I haven't had any luck since I have always ended in a bootloop and needing to delete module. Could u help me out?
Thanks!

Hi @miguelang611,
Probably the bootloop occurs because you directly use the modified apk that is created by "apk tool", also I had this problem, try to use my module replacing the contents of the folder "vrtheme \ system \ framework \ framework-res.apk " with your modified files, extract the contents of your modified apk and copy in the magisk module everything EXCEPT for the meta-inf folder and the android-manifest file.
Try this and update me.
Regards!

Thank u dude
The Friday after lot of tests reached to same conclusion as yours: copy everything from TMA (what I used to decompile) and once I removed the meta-inf and manifest, boom, it worked!
However, unfortunately I couldn't manage to edit vibration on arrays, since changing values there made 0 difference to actual phone vibration.
Saw that under public.xml there are also some vibe pattern, but neither worked
At least I got a way of fully modifying the framework and still booting
Thanks!

No problem, it was a pleasure
If I make no mistakes, the vibration patterns are also determined by the kernel, but honestly, I never went into that.

With kernel y can change intensity, but I wanna change duration (just as clock, SMS or calls do)
Not found yet though, still looking for the way to go
Thanks again!

What are red lines in device tweaking? Or how to avoid bricking by mistake

Hi All!
I've recently got P40 Pro and I like it very much. Now I need some software to be installed - maps, chats, banking etc.
However almost all of these apps need Google services or HMS. I'll try to avoid using these frameworks by using MicroG and Aurora store.
My goal is to have some set of required apps and don't have bloatware (like Huawei AI apps).
So I also going to find browser, phone, file manager and others on F-droid and use them instead of pre-installed apps. And disable those via ADB.
There are tons of information I need to read to do that, and I'll surely will read.
BUT, most manuals have big disclaimer which says "Do everything on your own risk, you can brick the phone!". And that's what I definitely don't want to.
So my questions are - what is the set of safe operations? What predefined applications can be safely removed via ADB? How to make backup that will restore phone if something goes wrong?
I believe there should be some thread with same concerns, but I could not find it. If somebody could point me to it, I'll be very grateful! Thank you in advance!
The first and main thing is "Everything Do at your Own RISK" if you want to go through android modding or making changes in the system you should not fear from resetting or formatting the system first and other thing is that installation of any unstable or unsupported mod can brick your device to get recover from these situations you should have knowledge about adb and fastboot, oem unlock and bootloader, custom recovery, root, magisk and custom roms to get the full back of your android in current state needs root for root you have to unlock your bootloader and for unlocking bootloader you need fastboot tool or your device oficial bootloader unlocker tool then you can backup you droid by the most common tool titanium backup or simply by backu option in your custom recovery
I think having a fully capable ROM bootloader (EDL mode, MTK, Allwinner, RockChip...) is most important.
There are still times that your system is wedged and you'll need either ROM mode test points or flash disable.
That's when the boot chain is broken enough to not work, but not broken enough to be recognized as broken.
If things are totally broken it will go to ROM bootloader mode all by itself.
Thank you for your advises!
I could not find P40Pro in TWRP devices list, and AFAIK, to unlock bootloader it needs to be disassembled. Is that correct?
To get used to rooting, custom ROMs, flashing and things I'll better get some cheap used phone - this one is way pricey for savage experiments, especially when you're completely noob. So rooting isn't an option for me for now.
At the moment I 'm debloating phone with "adb shell pm disable-user" and following lists:

Next step - involve Android profiles to isolate spying apps, which I still need, from each other and from contact list
I also looking for decent replacement for buit-in file-management, phone, messaging and contacts apps. And, maybe, launcher, I don't know if it's needed and secure. So far I found:
Emerald Dialer | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Make calls, view call log

Silence | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Encrypted SMS/MMS conversations made easy!
f-droid.org
Koler | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

f-droid.org
But haven't installed or tried yet. I'd gratefully accept recomendations for those app categories.
Dont waste your time. On this phones you cannot unlock the bootloader and definitely you cannot have access to the root. Also debloating is a non-sense: you can do more bad things than good things. The phone is powerful enough to not need debloating. It is not a Galaxy S2.
