Copy LG apps to OnePlus6 - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi guy’s,
I’m running a stock standard (not rooted) OnePlus 6 running Android 9.0.7. I have just upgraded from an old LG G2 running Android 5.0.2
I was wondering if any one can tell me if it is possible to copy a couple of LG apps from my old LG G2 phone to the new OnePlus 6.
I would really like to copy the Contacts, Messaging, File manager Phone & Gallery apps if it’s possible across to the new phone. I have tried to copy the *.apk files for some of these apps over to the phone using file manager and execute them but this fails. I have also used the same method to copy another app such as ZDNet as a test case and that works ok. I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to try next. Is this even possible & can anyone suggest anything ? I’m new to this so if you can keep any replies relatively simple I would appreciate it. I would really appreciate any help I can get, thank you.

The LG system apps may require there framework to run correctly. Try to download the newest version from Apkmirror and see if that will work.

Running HTC apps on Cyanogen ROM

Hi all,
I've got an HTC Magic from Rogers (EDI1 / 32A) and I've sucessfully loaded CyanogenMod on this unit. There are a few limitations with this ROM that I'd like to work around:
- No full exchange support
- Can't run other HTC apps like PDFViewer, teeter, etc...
Now from what I've read the HTC / Google stuff had to be stripped to avoid copyright infringment and that's fine. I'm just figuring since this phone came with these features I should be able to extract them from the stock ROM and apply them over the CyanogenMod ROM myself? Afterall these were licensed to this piece of hardware right?!? ;-)
I've started to figure my way around both fastboot and adb so I restored my original ROM and started pulling the apk files from that. Started with teeter and PDFViewer as a start... When running on the CyanogenMod ROM Teeter exits gracefully with a message telling me it only runs on an HTC, and PDFViewer dies and needs to be force closed. So there's obviously more than just the apk files for these apps that need to be moved.
So does anyone know what files need to be pulled from the stock ROM and copied to the CyanogenMod ROM to allow me to run the HTC stuff on there?
Also if anyone can point me to the files I need to transfer to restore the full exchange functionality that would be sweet!
I know the files had to be pulled out / replaced to meet legal requirements so someone must know which ones they are?!?
Oh and one issue I've been running into is that I obviously can't get root on the stock ROM so things like the data directory are off limits to me... But the system folder's accessible in a read only mode at least.
I'm also wondering which files actually make up the Android OS? Maybe it would be easier just to copy the 1.6 os files to the 1.5 stock image leaving the rest the same? So in a nut-shell trying to do HTC / Rogers' job for them as they are obviously not looking to get this done any time soon if at all by the looks of things...
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Sandy

goapk.com ever heard of it?

well someone from goapk.com emailed me saying they like one of my apps, and they want to convert it to Chinese and upload on their website and android market.
anyone ever heard of this place b4? and is there any chance they can just rip off my app and copy the source code?
they are asking just for the data where i keep my text so they can convert it to chinese, then i make a new apk for that and email it to them.
I got an email from them and from others. Each time, I replied saying I wasn't looking to distribute outside of the Android Market. They can't rip off your source code from the strings file, but it's possible to find out how it works using tools like baksmali. They are probably legit since they wouldn't contact you first if they wanted to do that

I don't understand, why to email it to them and not just upload to Market by yourself? Then they will be able to install it normally and they will get it in their language.

Even now they could download your app from Market and localize it by themselves very easily, really
I was helping Chinese people in fixing their issues in Google Maps. They are good guys mostly, they just have problems with English.
goapk
goapk is apparantly the build of my htc desire. as is whenever i turn it on it says HTC then goapk.com then something in chinese. i bought it in china...
It sucks. it has the chinese GoMarket, not the android market. cant download anything!
Please tell me if i can download an apk version of the real android market from anywhere..

I'm having the exact some issue! Just bought an HTC Desire in China, no Android market, just this terrible Chinese market called GoMarket by goapk. Super annoying. If anybody has a solution, please let me know!
Btw, I already tried rooting the phone using Unrevoked, but my phone has hboot 0.93 which seems to be impossible to root at this point in time.
Solution for goapk.com (or just rooting branded phones)
Ok, I've managed to solve the issue based on the information from this forum, so here's the solution (which is unfortunately quite long, but it works... at your own risk, of course):
The issue: A bought-in-China HTC Desire, branded by the horrible goapk.com with no Android market access. Could only access some Chinese market called GoMarket created by goapk.com. This could also apply to anyone with a branded phone (eg. branded by a carrier) that could not be rooted with UnrEVOked3.
Solution: Downgrade the OS to an unbranded HTC Sense Android 2.1 with a goldcard inserted in the phone. This makes it possible to root the phone using Unrevoked and then you can install any of the Android ROMs you like on it. Technically you could stop after downgrading to Android 2.1 and not bother rooting (since you'll already have Android Market access by then), but you'll probably want to continue so you can finish with Android 2.2 on your phone.
Method:
Step 1:
Get an extra MicroSD card (2gig or whatever) and create a goldcard. You need this because your phone is branded with goapk.com and this is part of getting rid of that. Find out how here: android.modaco.com/content/general-discussion/305672/creating-a-goldcard/#entry1233023
Tip: you don't need an microSD card reader. You can format the microSD card in your phone by connecting your phone as a USB drive, and right-clicking the drive and formating. It MUST be FAT32 format, NOT FAT, so do it from the computer controls, not on the phone itself (because the phone itself does it in FAT format)
Step 2:
With your goldcard in your phone, you can now downgrade to Android 2.1. This kills two birds with one stone. A. It removes the horrible goapk.com branding and B. Lowers your hboot from 0.93 to 0.83 which makes it possible to root your phone. Instructions here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Tip: if it fails the first time (as mine did) and it can't find the zip file at the end, make sure your goldcard was FAT32.
Now your phone will be running HTC Sense 2.1 unbranded, with access to Android Market. The next two steps will allow you to put any of the Froyo versions (with Sense or without, your choice) on your phone.
Step 3:
Root your phone with UnrEVOked. Instructions here:
rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/general/howto-root-your-htc-desire-wildfire-evo-incredible-with-unrevoked/
Tip: His instructions are great. His download pages are horrible, but they work eventually, just keep clicking.
Step 4:
Install any of the custom Android ROMs available. Instructions are also found on the above link for rooting the phone.
You can choose from any of the ROMs listed here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
I went with DeFroST, which is a nice Android ROM without Sense, since Android is better off on it's own, IMO.
Tip: If you don't have an MicroSD card reader, make sure you put the ROM's zip file on your MicroSD before you wipe your phone (Pt. 3, point 4 in the guide).
That's it! When you finish, you'll have rooted phone with full Android Market Access and any version of Android you want on it. Sorry I couldn't recommend an easier way. Now if I could just get my hands on this damn person at HTC who let goapk.com crap all over this phone to begin with (or Google for not putting any rules in place)...
wow thanks a bunch. I hope this will work...
need to get hands on an extra microSD card for the moment

I just debranded my phone and holy crap its working! but i have a question:
Can i put initial sd card in it now? or do i have to use the goldcard forever??
Wow
Many thanks and 'holy crap' - this worked like a charm. My Android Desire is now fully functional!! FYI, if you have a Chinese simcard, you will still have restricted access to the Android Market but it will be much much better than goapk.com. However, if you insert a North American sim card, it works perfectly. Thanks again!
Robert to be able to gain full access to Market you can use something like MarketEnabler, which I'm sure you can find somewhere on the internet as .apk, since you won't be able to find it in the localized "chinese" Android Market..
getting rid of goapk
Have a Chinese HTC Legend, which came with goapk which was awful - slowed the phone down but also blocked the Android Market so that I should buy apps at the goapk market.
Thanks to Idasein, I got the idea of how to get rid of it, but had some problems with the files in the links mentioned (Kaspersky screamed that there was a trojan)
If anyone needs to get rid of goapk, then you can alternatively have a look at the easy instructions on Unlockr for how to downgrade a Legend - create goldcard, make the phone downgradeable, then downgrade. This leaves it with a clean Android 2.1 (minus goapk) which you can then root and do custom ROM or, as I did, then update to Froyo. Worked beautifully for me!
Search theunlockr.com for "how-to-downgrade-the-htc-legend-to-1-31-so-it-can-be-rooted"
thanks a bunch, idasein
finally got rid of the f***er, too, and installed leezoid instead.

I was working on a ICS based hoppy rom. Unfortunately I just had a catastrophic screen failure, apparently when my laptop bag fell last night, it landed with enough force to shatter the screen on my nextbook! Oh well. it may be a while before I can work on anything to further the version I was working on.
FYI- Due to work, my time is very limited for working on the next version of Hoppy Rom. I apologize in advance. The company I work for is
setting up new engine test cells in China, and my self and 2 other people are main points of support! again Sorry for anything new taking so long!

First you will need to decide which version of the Rom you are going to load. The CRAMFS Style version has SU but you CANNOT write to the /system directory. This is a good all around Rom for those who may need SU but do not need to write to /system.
Full On Root is just that, you have full read write to the /system and can customize the Rom to your hreats content.
HOW TO INSTALL:
TO FLASH CRAMFS STYLE 3.0 Put the UPDATE.IMG file from the Cramfstyle Folder onto your SD card, while tablet is on and follow the on screen instructions.
After running the self extracting Zip file you will have a directory containing the following folders and files.
Drivers (folder)
CramfsStyle(folder)
FullonRoot(folder)
Log(folder)
Language(folder)
Readmefirst.txt
Rkusb.log
RkusbComm.dll
Setting.ini
RK29update.exe
TO FLASH CRAMFS STYLE 3.0 Put the UPDATE.IMG file from the Cramfstyle Folder onto your SD card, while tablet is on and follow the on screen instructions.
To flash Full On ROOT, Plug your nextbook into your PC via usb cable. Turn your nextbook over and with a safety pin or something of similar size, press and hold the reset button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Run the RK29update.exe
Select your Rom files via the boxes containing the .... And navigate to the correct directory for the rom you want to install.
Insert eache file in order according to the update tool.
Clear IDB. (this is like a lowlevel format for the Rom tool:
After the Tool says OK. Select Run. This will begin to load the Rom onto your tablet. It will go through loading and then checking the Rom install.
After the Rom loads and the tool comes back with an OK, patiently wait for the tablet to reboot, and load the new ROM. If the tablet is still connected to the pc via USB when the rom boots it will show the screen allowing you to select weather or not to turn on USB storage. Press the home key and you will be given a choice of Golauncher or Rklauncher. (go lock is a screen lock program.)
Enjoy the Rom!

Google Calendar is now back and working correctly.
Original Email is back and working correctly.
Included Kindle App
Included Estrongs file explorer.
Both have SU though the Cramfs version cannot write to SW.
Removed Apps Added in last release and return to more of a original rom state.
Rom is pretty clean. And seems speedy.

So freaking sweet, great work on RW!
I used Wendal's tool to decompress the cramfs file system.
As for the /system, Because the device uses cramfs, and based on everything I have read, using Wendal's tool to decompress the file system, make the changes, and compress is the only way I can see to be able to
customize the rom for the device. The image is rooted, but after the update.img is compressed, the /system file remains read only. I tested this using root explorer, but anything requiring su works fine. But all hope may not be lost, I was reading on a chumby forum someone suggested using mkfs.jffs to make it writable, but further down it notes that you would need to change the kernel (easy enough to recompile I think), to utilize a different file system. The boot loader would also need to be modified, something I am not ready to try and tackle just yet, I think I would be bricking my nextbook pretty quickly.
It is a start and I am actually learning a lot as I go.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
I am definitely a long time user / cyanogenmod / aosp fan, but as far as ripping open .img files its definitely new territory, I tried to find an internal SD card like the nook has, to maybe dump it, but I cannot find such a beast. Any progress you make is awesome. So do things like root explorer work, just not on /system due to cramfs?
Correct, root explorer does work, but due to cramfs, it does not allow you to toggle to rw from ro on the /system.
Working on taking apart apk's and customizing and rebuilding and resigning next.
just flashed this rom and it works great!
How would I go about doing a custom boot animation or image?
... even if it means flashing a new rom from clean?
This is great. Thanks. The only question I have is why do I see so few items in Market? Does it have anyhting to do with compatability?
Calendar & Sync Access
First, thank you for your work.
Before I update by Next7P, have you included Google Calendar and Sync access in this update?
I use MyPhoneExplorer and will need calendar sync to work so I can fully use for business.
Thanks.
There is another method to get Google Market on the Next7P, I am a new user so I can not post the link, but google , forums Whirlpool net au archive 1756859
, very easy and works great, but cannot get sync to work.
Dan,
Thanks for the responses!
sgtfoo : You can use Wendal's rk29xx tool to take a copy of my rom image, or the original update downloadable from nextbookusa.com, and
unpack it. You then have access to the system directory in an editable format. you can go into the system folder /system/media and replace the bootanimation.zip file with another one. Just be sure the image format is 480x 800 and that the zip file has 0% compression ratio. After you make the changes, just repack .img file via Wendal's tool and reflash.
dodoclub : Not sure why. I have a full market. You might try clearing the data and cache for the market. My market shows pretty full, I.E. I got 31050 entries when I searched for facebook in the market.
Danno65: Actually that is something I have been working on. I can get my google calendar to sync, currently I am using a calendar from the market called Jorte, which works great, how ever, googles actual calendar.apk closes unexpectedly, I am thinking it is just a version problem with the calendar, but haven't had a lot of time to follow up on it.
FYI here is the link to Wendal's tool, which makes it much easier to work on the update.img file.

If you have any request or questions please feel free to ask, I will help anyway I can.
Thanks Dochoppy
Got one of these tablets for Christmass to replace an old broken tablet I use for work.
Google hosts our work email, so I still need to get Contacts and Appointments going, but I maybe able to side load them.
Noticed build.prop still has ro.secure=1. This prevents adb from having root access??
Calendar & Sync Access
DocHoppy,
I came across a post where the "Calendar.apk" and "CalendarProvider.apk" files must be in the "system/app" directory to work properly, I tried to copy these files to the above directory but found it to be read/only, will wendalls tool have to be used to get access to the directory?
Also, did you get your google calendars on your desktop to sync with Jorte on the Next7P, I tried but no luck.
Thanks
Dan
The updated image file worked great, thanks again
Thank you so much for your work in building a new rom for this thing. I am anxiously awaiting a new filesystem so we can have true root. How do we manage to recompile the kernel for ext4 support and change the /system fs?
Hello, first of all, thanks for your work!
I am having trouble loading this rom. it says there's an invalid image file in my sd card and if I want to delete.
Now, I don't know if my tablet is a never or older version of what you guys have...
Next7p
2.3.1
kernel: 2.6.32.27
build: v2.0.7.....
my serial is also different from alot..it starts with YF0511
any help or tips?

I would say the serial number would have something to do with it, check on the site for nextbook and see if your serial is in the same *batch* as ours, if the original serial is in a different group, im assuming the hardware may be slightly different? If so, you can always use his method to repack the original with root.
First off I would like to say that I was very pleased when I came across this thread from another one. I haven't flashed this ROM yet, but plan to. Thank you for your work on this as I have been searching the whole internet since I got this thing [4 weeks now] for some sort of custom ROM. It is hard to use this tablet when I have ICS on my Captivate and Vibrant. GB just isn't as cool.
One thing I hope we can work on is root access, so we then can use Titanium Backup. Then we won't have to manually reload everything when new releases come out.
With all that being said, if there is anything I can do to help, I would love to. Like I said, I plan on flashing this probably tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks again.
For the record, I got titanium backup working fine on this rooted rom. it is capable. You just need to reboot after it restores a backup.
i'm new to android. glad to see rooted rom finally, keep it up!!!
i have a clarification, any improvement in the booting time? my device took 1min30sec (power ON to ready to use, for me, 90sec seem like not fast enough).
Good luck on improving boot time. And besides a tablet is best used when on all the time... try using the suspend state to quickly wake it. We're just starting with the early versions of this rom... give it time to grow.

Build.prop editing
Okay so observation:
Our tablet is not recognized as a "tablet" by the Android market, only and android device.
What prop would I have to edit in order to have us recognized as I tablet. I noticed this when:
I finally managed (through some internet tutorial before this rom) get the market working (the first version, not 3.1+). And when I downloaded apps (I'll use Minecraft Pro as an example) I noticed that the way mine looked and the way the tablet version looked via android market photos and Youtube, ours looks like an enlarged phone version rather than a tablet optimized version. What can I edit to fix this?
Flashed this today... so for it works great. Love the new boot animation. Great work and can not wait for future releases!

One thing that would be great on a future release [not sure if it is possible yet with out r/w], would be a bigger data partition for apps. Moving everything large to the SD is ok, just takes longer to boot those apps. A kernel that would allow voltage control app [like CPU Master] to work also. Just a thought!

Motorola Stock Apps

Hi,
does anyone know where i can get a Full Package of the Original Honeycomb Motorola Stock Apps? Just have a Xoom from a friend here, Flashed ICS from Team Eos, and now he anxious want's the Original Motorola Apps again.
Especially he Stock Filemanager.
Can i download them from anywhere? Or have i to flash back to HC, and backup the apps? If yes, does it work with Titaniumbackup?
So that i can get the clean install-apk's, not the orginial which are integrated into the system?
thanks in advance
Cant help you sorry. But would also like the default File Manager back for posterity. Apparently it is only the non US model that actually cam with the file manager in Honeycomb 3.2 update. US versions never had it and everyone will tell you to download a file manager from the market!! But the stock one was very simple and intuitive so I like it and want it back too.
Hey guys!
I managed to get the file manager that came in the Honeycomb stock motorola, ROM, but I can not install!
I've tried putting the file directly in the "app", I changed the permissions for all possible combinations, and nothing... I've been researching and I think the problem is that such "android manifest" it determines the sdk to target 11 and the ICS is 15 .. but can not edit the xml. I'll leave the apk here, if someone can help: http ://dl. dropbox. com/u/28574144/FileManager. apk
I liked it too, because it was simple. But I then realised it was not tablet optimised, so much slower to navigate.
miss stock apps too

Not sure if anyone would be still interested in this but I got the stock File Manager back!
I've "reseted" my xoom back to 3.0.1 version. The File Manager apk provided wouldn't work but after an update to 3.1 version that nice stock File Manager apk just showed up automatically. No need for apk installation or anything.
Anyway thanks buddy for providing this link!

Complete Guide to Root and Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Hi all.
Complete noob here - just wanted to document my journey for resurrecting my daughter's Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet to make it usable again.
It had stock rom on it (android 4.0.4) ICS and would not update. Consequently, none of the apps were working and basically it was ready for the trash.
Yes, it's 7 years old, but hey, why throw it in the trash - I thought I'd have a go at rooting and updating. It took me a couple of days but now it's done, it's updated to 7.1 Nougat and working flawlessly.
So here is my Journey - I hope it will help someone. Big thanks to all the Devs out there who have put countless hours into keeping this tablet alive (especially decatf who appears to be very nice person
This assumes no prior knowledge - but be warned - I am not responsible for any damage you cause to your device or if you "brick it". If that worries you do not proceed! By following the below guide, you will be wiping all data from your device so proceed with caution!!
The following worked for me to install Android Nougat on my device - mine is a GT-P7510 but I used the files for the GT-P7500 because when I tried the specific files for the P7510, they didn't work). You might have to get creative here and there to get yours to work!
1) Create folder on your PC / Mac computer desktop to put the required files in;
2) Download the files from here:
- Odin3-v1.85.zip - or do a search for it (this will be for "flashing" twerp onto your device)
- twrp311-20171009-p4.zip
- aosp-7.1-p4-20171005.zip
- P7500-open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20170416.zip
- GalaxyTabHacks.com_SuperUser.zip
- USB drivers if you need them are here: http://gizmoword.com/Files/2017/09/24/samsung-usb-drivers/
3. Instal Twerp / Custom Recovery
Before you can install custom software (Nougat etc) you will need to root the tablet. Before you root the tablet, you need to install TWERP which will allow you access to things like backup and recovery etc.
To install TWERP follow this guide and ensure you make backup before proceeding to step 4 - that way you can always go back to your stock image if there are any problems.

NOTE: in the above, it mentions ClockWorkMod (CWM) - However CWM did not work for me, so after installing CWM - I then installed TWERP (they basically do the same thing). I am not sure if you can simply install TWERP instead of CWM - but I installed TWERP over the top of CWM after I had followed the above guide.
4. Root the tablet: The following guide was very helpful to me;
https://theunlockr.com/2012/05/18/how-to-root-the-wifi-only-galaxy-tab-10-1/
and / or this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361571
5. Now you should be ready to install the custom ROM (Nougat)
Follow these guides:
https://www.droidword.com/2017/11/2...10-1-gt-p7510-to-android-7-1-nougat-aosp-rom/
and here is the source code and infos;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350
6. After following the above, I installed Gapps Pico (very small google basic apps needed for tablet boot e.g. playstore etc)
7. Reboot device and enjoy the setup. Congrats - if all went well you should now be on 7.1 Nougat and can download all your favourite apps.
You can also download and install other software e.g. Chrome browser optimised for your old tablet
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/app-chromium-m56-optimized-tegra-2-t3550210
Best of luck! Note - I am not developer of any of the above. Kudos to all the devs.
I followed your directions and now play store does not work. Can you help me??
I had to experiment with this because some of the files gave me problems. Aside from the aosp-7.1-p4-20171005.zip which does work some the files don't. I ended up using TWRP version 2.8.7.0. (there is no official TWRP for the GT-P7510. Closest one is called "Picaso" you can search specifically for that one). Whichever GAPPS you decide to use must be an "open" Gapps such as, open_gapps-arm-7.1-full-20181106.zip.
After flashing there were difficulties. Google Play apps won't download or install. Google Chrome or any other Google related apps do not function. There are no developer settings. I even tried to download some Developer Setting apks of which none work. The ROM in itself looks and works good except for those bugs. Camera and flash actually work properly.

Hi all.
For a " Nooby " you have achieved an exellent result. I know a lot about PC's, But the Android OS is new for me. I followed your instructions to the letter. The end result is amazing, what a transformation. This article is very detailed and clear, also very well written. My compliments on a job well done. Thank you.

Android 8 or 9?
Great post. I'm also a noob but am going to give it a try since you've laid everything out so nicely. One question I have before getting started is do you think this will also work with the latest versions of Android (8 or 9) rather than Android 7? Thanks much for any advice before I take the plunge!

My curent opinion is that the Android 7 version works better overall.
thread: Complete Guide to Root and Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
ok so most of the roms i have tested are overcome v2.3, nougat AOSP 7.1.2 , cwm clean rom v2 and others on the GT-P7510MA and i must say they are awesome builds to try and ressurect the tablet giving life to it but these Roms seem to dont give it the core functionality of playing games or even being able to handle the YouTube app version came in the pico packages or downloaded from the play store, can you developers from GitHub please work on this tablet. It gives constant crashes on playing games downloaded from the app store or opening certain apps other from that you guys would make my day and i would generously donate cause you guys deserve every penny!!! please fix this and we are ok worked for me but everything except games and the YouTube app. People remember most of these developers don't have the tablets, time or cash so we have to test on our tablets, donate so there cup of coffee doesn't runs out and report to them effectively right before there coffee runs out!
I'm still using mine. There were some similar issues I had and if I remember correctly Google play was the main issue with other Google apps. I think and this is going on memory. You would install the ROM then the GAPPS, but not flash both at the same time. Or Google apps would lock up for some reason and give you some issue. So for it to work correctly you flash the ROM. Turned it on and let it load up. Then you would turn it off so you could start up the TWRP recovery, then you would flash the GAPPS.
But Channel 48 put out a video on this if you get confused. This is the easiest way.

And the update to 8.1 is also an option.

Thanks @Casper Young I will take a look at the 8.1
It seems Channel48 has a lot of helpful videos. You can search for your exact model on his search page: for example, I am checking on P5110 here:

Hi, there, everyone
I've been trying to download the files needed, but most of the links no longer work. Where can I find the programs needed?
