(update) [help] ext sd card in raw format - General Questions and Answers

i was using my poco f1 in ressurection remix normally and out of nowhere i can no longer access my ext sd card (original kingston) i tried to restart and enter recovery to see but the micro sd card is inaccessible, does anyone know what i can do?
UPDATE: my card is in raw format the only different things I did on my phone were to change a certification to pass the safety net on magisk (i use terminal emulator and a comand from a module to change one certification of my poco f1 to poco f2 pro) and wipe on dalvik and cache on redwolf recovery. i accept any type of help, thanks

Either it's a ROM problem or SD card problem. Try the SD card on any other device and see if it's detected.

Then it's your Kingston sd card problem. Take it to the Kingston authorised service centre because now I think only they can help you.

I don’t know any assistance from kingston around here, I think I’ll have to send it back to where I bought it but I can’t believe it’s stopped nowhere the most different thing that happened was that the phone started in safe mode and that I cleared dalvik and cache on redwolf recovery

Any SD / microSD memory card can be checked whether there is a technical error or not at your own by running
Code:
CHKDSK <DRIVE-LETTER-HERE>: /f /r /x
at Windows Command prompt.

i use chkdsk /f this command says something like dont suport raw format, my sd is alive but in raw format, i can loose this sd card but my files i cant loose... i accept all help or suggestions, thanks and sorry for my bad english

If the file system on the drive is in RAW and CHKDSK is not available, the drive may not be opened in Windows Explorer. However, one can use a professional data recovery tool for RAW to read this drive. FonePaw Data Recovery is a tool that can recover data from RAW drive safely and quickly. You can retrieve almost all types of data: Pictures, videos, audios, documents and much more. You can recover data from hard drive, memory card, flash drive and the software runs on Windows 10/8/7/XP.
You can also try to convert SD-card's RAW to NTFS without any loss of data by means of DISKPART utility what is part of Windows OS:

@GALO-DE-KALSA, I think you've got the solution in above comment. I'll just keep upvoting him as I don't have a PC, so I don't know any PC method.

Did some research for you.
"A microSD card inserted into a Windows Phone 7 device and integrated into the device's file system is intended to be a permanent modification to the device," the support document states. "Once a microSD card has been integrated into a Windows Phone 7 device's file system, it will no longer be readable or writable on any other devices such as computers, cameras, printers, and so on. This includes an inability to format the microSD card for use in these devices. Improper use (including inserting or removing) of microSD cards on Windows Phone 7 devices may result in one or more of the following:
"* System error while powering on the device that prevents the Windows Phone 7 operating system from loading. Note that emergency dialing will function properly.
* Inaccurate reporting of available storage.
* Loss of access to or removal of installed applications.
* Loss of access to or removal of user data/media stored on the microSD card.
* Loss of access to or removal of user data or media stored internally within the Windows Phone 7 device.
* Overall file system performance degradation.
* Device lockup or reset."

Exactly as advertized.
If I had to physically disassemble my device to change a memory module, then I wouldn't expect that module to work in anything else...
...why do you think they don't make them user replaceable? The role of the SD card in WP7 is the same as the role of the internal memory of any other phone, hence why it's mounted internally and NOT designed to be user replaceable.
It all comes back to simple rule of if you don't understand what you're hacking, don't hack it...

Hi, I also got your problem and just got my answer by trial and error.
Format won't help since it won't unlock your sd card. You need to do the following.
1. start linux (install ubuntu besides windows or something)
2. put card in computer
3. unmount sd card with "umount"
4. format sd card with "mke2fs /location-of-sd-card/"
5. go to windows and format as fat32 or just put it in your phone.
6. thank me \
Windows or your phone will say it's broken or something and will repair.
The mango security is no more and your sd card is revived.

[Q] 64gb wont work

Ok, i dont know if this has been posted before but this is my BIG problem. When ever I plug in a 16gb sandisk memory card to my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 it works seamlessly without any problems it shows how much space i have and other options like unmount and the like.
BUT, when I plug in my 64gb sandisk microsdXC it doesn't even mount and the only option i see is mount sd card and when i press on that it shows that sd card can be removed.
I want to know why it is like this. I want to use my 64gb on this and I have already got a replacement for the memory card and i also tried reformatting the cards with exFAT and Fat32. I am at a loss and I don't know where I can find the info to get this fixed. I am begging for anybody to help me with the steps to get this fixed
This is how it looks with the 16gb memory card

This is kinda strange, because i had the same problem with the same card, but found out of the box its exFAT, reformatted to FAT32, now works flawlessly...depending on firmware (i'm on 4.0.4 XXALI3, no exFAT support) even exFAT is said to work finally, don't remember which one actually. Thanx you SAMSUNG, finally acknowledged those cards come with exFAT out of the box...i would try to reformat and make sure it's really FAT32, as not all windows machines seem to produce FAT32 out of the box (I'm on MAC). hope this helps...
my baseband version is N8000UBLG5 4.0.4
I have tried to reformat on my windows 7 alienware laptop. It is really weird. I was worried because I thought that it might be a hardware problem but when i used the 16gb memory card it worked flawlessly. I only used the format option that comes with windows. Could this be a problem with the software? I just hope that this is not a problem with the hardware. I hope someone could shed some light on this for me.
You can't format a 64gb sd card fat32 using window natively, you need another program such as Easius partition manager to do it. This might be your problem....

where do i download this?
Still doesn't work
Ok, I tried using the formating program and still same thing. It wasn't able to fix it. The only option that shows in the storage part is "mount sd card". And still when I click on that, it shows a notification that says that sd card is safe to remove. Im really at a loss here. I guess that because I can use the 16gb memory card, its probably not a hardware problem right? I have the n8000 3g+ wifi model. I don't know what region it is but I bought it at amazon.com
Is the sd card recognised in windows? Can you open up and copy files to/from it?
If you have another phone you could try to format it in that BUT be careful as it can screw them up...

yes It is recognized in windows and yes I can copy files on it. I actually tried it on my galaxy s3 phone and it was recognized. That is why im really wondering why this won't work on the n8000...I am hoping to find someone who could fix it, I would gladly pay for the fix if it would be repaired.

you could try to format in the S3...mine isn't' available right now,so I can't try myself...not sure if S3 does exFAT though....
If you have access to a Digital Camera and a Micro SD to SD Adapter you could insert the micro sd card in the adapter and then insert both into a Digital Camera and reformat using the cameras format instructions.
Worked for me in the past.

Card reader not being detected by the PC AND Why can't my card reader/writer be detected by my PC?
[FONT="Gar"amond]SOLUTION 1 - Verify if minimum system requirement is met.
SanDisk card readers support Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000 SP4, Windows 7.
[COLOR="Blue"]NOTE:[/COLOR] No additional drivers need to be downloaded for the card readers as they are native to the above mentioned supported operating systems.
SOLUTION 2 - Verify the reader's status under Device Manager.
STEP 1 - Connect the reader to the PC
NOTE: It is recommended that you plug your card reader to the back USB port on your PC to ensure that there is enough power from the USB port for the card reader to be detected properly.
STEP 2 - Check under Device Manager
1. Right-click My Computer.
2. Select Manage.
3. On the left pane, click Device Manager.
NOTE: The card reader will appear in two places: Disk Drives and Universal Serial Bus controls as USB Mass Storage. If there is a yellow exclamation point (!) or question mark (?) next to the device, try to refresh the drivers.
STEP 3 - Refresh the drivers
1. Right-click the entry with the error mark, select Uninstall.
2. On the top menu, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
STEP 4 - Verify if the reader is detected
1. Double-click My Computer.
2. Look for the card reader under Devices with removable storage.
SOLUTION 3 - Try other USB ports.
A yellow exclamation point (!) under Device Manager usually means that the device is not receiving enough power. If the reader is not receiving ample amount of power from the USB port, it may not function properly.
SOLUTION 4 - Change the drive letters
NOTE:The SDDR-89, SDDR-189, SDDR-289 reader should show 4 drive letters under My Computer.[/FONT].

I've been having issues where anything that I save to my SD gets corrupted and I've already tried reformatting it from my phone (I don't have a computer right now... my laptop bit the dust not too long ago...) but I'm still having the same problem... any ideas why this might be happening?

SD card-HELP

Hello,
if i try to copy to SD card it writes me error, what do i do? (if i try to extract .rar file it says full storage card-there is 25 gb left...) any idea please?
You'll need to do a search for NextApp SDFix and run on the tablet.
Kitkat and Lollipop blocks applications from writing to the external sd card and the application above will allow you app to write to the external sd card.
Don't forget to reboot after running the app

Will i need root to run the app?
You can definitely get apps to write to the SD card without rooting and voiding your warranty.
1. Get an app compatible with SD card writing in Lollipop. There are very few, but I believe even ES File Explorer allows it these days.
2. Authenticate the root folder of the SD card via the Google Storage Access Framework. Often the file manager will give you a short tutorial, but the gist is that you'll be launched into a bizarre window where you must click an overflow menu, click Show SD Cards, slide a hidden left menu out, tap on the SD card, and then select folder. This then gives the app full write access to your card.
3. Have luck on your side. Often you will need to reformat the card as Ntfs or just get super lucky.
Remember to thank Google when you're done, and it's not a bug, it's a feature.

Are you able to get into the Storage Access Framework at all? That's the crucial first step for any app you want to use with the SD card.
If you got there but the SD card isn't listed, then it might need to be reformatted.

This is exactly how you're supposed to access the Storage Access Framework. Is your SD card empty? If it is empty, please format it (using your tablet or a computer). That might solve your problem.
(If it is not empty, back up all the files somewhere, and format it anyway... hopefully this will help.)
If not, well, this is an error I have never seen before.

It's a problem I've never experienced, that is for sure. Maybe if you ask NVIDIA to return it, they will have a better solution.
Can you take a screenshot of when the error occurs? Is there a Report button there? I'm grasping at straws here.

"Unfortunately, documents has stopped"!? That's amazing.
Can you try this with a different SD card or a different app? If I knew offhand which app Documents came from, I would also recommend finding it in All Apps and clearing its data and cache.

Internal SD ruined my SD card?

I unlocked my Moto G and put ResurectionRemix on it a few days ago and its been working great until my SD card stopped working. I formatted my 32GB Evo MicroSD card as a Internal storage so I could install more apps. It worked fine for a few days but today when I got home it said Samsung SD card missing , after trying a few things I eventually clicked the "Forget" button on my phone thinking I could just format it again as an Internal SD. Now I have huge problems with this card. I can not format it! It appears in Disk Management with a blank name and a blank File System, when I try to delete it it gives me a "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error" . I tried in GParted Live and got "gparted can't write to because it is opened read only"...DBAN showed the drives as [????] Unrecognized device so I could not do anything.
The only luck at anything was with a program called iCare Recovery which allowed me to enter the SD card to recover files but I do not need to recover anything from the SD card.
Anyone know what to do? I do not know what my phone did to my SD card when I chose to format it as an Internal SD but it has made it useless.
I have tried for hours to fix it myself and research all the possible ways to fix it but I can not find a fix, so I am hoping someone here can help.
All I want to do is format the card now, I do not need to recover anything from the card.

UPDATE: After reading this again, it is possible you have also flicked the write protect switch on the side of the SD Card, which could be making repair more difficult, so ensure to read the image below first.

Assuming you are using Windows, you can wipe the partition map using Diskpart.
WARNING: Failure to identify the correct disk number WILL RESULT IN DATA LOSS. I am not responsible for what you do.
Step 1: Click Start and search for 'Disk Management', and then open it.
Note: Ive noticed that often disk management does not appear in search, if this happens, search how to open it as there are various ways of doing it.
Step 2: Look at the disks and find the SD Card, write down the name, such as 'Disk 1' or 'Disk 2'. It is critical to identify the right drive as erasing the wrong one will cause data loss.
Step 3: Once you have identified the disk, open Command Prompt by searching for 'cmd' in Start.
Step 4: In Command Prompt, type 'diskpart' and press enter.
Step 5: Type list disk and double check that the disk number matches the drive.
Step 6: Type 'select disk <the disk number>'. for example:
Code:
select disk 5
Step 7: Type 'clean'. This command will wipe the partition table and all data from the selected drive
Step 8: You can close the Command Prompt and then reopen Disk Management
Step 9: You should now be able to create a partition in the unallocated space
If this does not fix the drive, then there is likely a more serious problem.

Thank you for the response.
The card is a Micro SD so I dont think it has a physical switch on it and I have tried the diskpart clean method and it responds with DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not an expert, but it sound like it could be a hardware error. In that case, I can't offer any advice...
