Root my andriod - General Topics

Hi. Im looking for someone to root my LG Stylo 5. I've heard its easy but I've watched some videos and read some instructions and they all vary. I don't want it to be an additional app if that makes sense.

Android Stick Questions (specifically MK808B)

Im looking for a good alternative for my Dad to watch streaming movies/tv from his room
Hes not greatly tech savvy. I like the ideas of the MK808 but to find any concise information is hard it seems.
How easy is it to get working from a phone, meaning using his smart phone to control and be able to type from his phone?
Will he be able to use the full website version of Hulu Plus?
How hard is it to flash a new ROM? I see Finless mentioned a lot, Im assuming this is probably the best rom for the type of device?
He will probably only really use it for watching netflix and hulu, maybe the occasional web search.
Now if I were to get one for me however, how well does it handle uhhh lets say "adult situations" I just got a Note 3, how will it stack up?
Any info would be great, what experiences do you guys have personally with android sticks?
+1

[Q] How to Connect Gear S to LG Flex 1(AT&T)

Hello Everybody,
Disclaimer: I am an extreme noob when it comes to rooting and so forth, I performed one back in 2010 on an HTC HD2 that i used a kernel (i believe) for nexus on and turned it into an android.
Anyhow I just bought a gear s, and was able to download the gear manager on my phone the gold one (used blackmart to do so), however now I can not connect to the device because it needs to download samsung crap on it i think. I came up with two ideas which are as follow and I need assistance on recommendations.
1. root my g-flex and turn it into a note 4, I have no clue how to do this and don't know if it is possible (any help here would be greatly appreciated!).
2. get the galaxy app store on my lg flex and perhaps it will be able to download the updates for the gear s?
I am sorry that I am such a novice, but I do understand the basics to coding and everything, if i can get either of these options to work I will gladly post a video of the whole process and instructions on xda so that way others can benefit

Most 'Rootable' Phone?

I am in need of a new phone and I am looking for suggestions for something that should be easily rootable?
Any device that using Android 5.0 and below and you just need Kingroot to root it easily.
I am no expert on Android but considering Android 5 came out in 2014 and we are now on Android 7 is it realistic to expect to find a new phone running Android 5?
Can you think of any?
Usually cheap chinese phones that are available on the market like Lenovo, Leagoo or etc. and some retailers still selling old Android models mostly from KitKat and Lollipop ones.
So unlikely for any phone that most people would be looking for. Also Kingroot is full of spyware/adware and hardly a good route to be considering in any case.
If not preferring Kingroot, you might want to find some devices that are using Snapdragon chipset, which are pretty easy to install most of custom roms. recoveries and etc. but requires a little bit higher than average android usage skills. Any device is using Android Marshmallow and above would require to use TWRP or similar custom recoveries to root the device, that's the only way to do it.
It sounds reasonable but my current Experia Z3 rooting attempt fell at the first hurdle because the bootloader unlocking option says 'NO'!
So the detail of the process is critical and general simplified methods are often far from it. Hence being very clear on the rooting method is more important than the phone spec.
I wasnt expecting simple answers here just methods of narrowing down the choices, so all information is helpful.
But it does seem I have to start from the exact phone and try to work backwards to find out rootability as I have no experience to draw on.
Anyone rooted a phone recently?
Well rooting Samsung phones with odin(flashing twrp from odin) is the simplest way in todays date.

[Q] Jetstream Android TV Box

I just purchased a "Jetstream 4K Ultra HD Android TV Box" from Walmart to replace my aging WD Play. Has anyone had any experience using or rooting these devices? I ask, because I've de-Googled my phone via root, and I'd like to keep this as Google-free as possible. Thanks!
I would also love to know if anyone knows how to root this. I have searched everywhere I can think of but have came up with no definitive solutions..
Can you use any 905x ROM? Are these any good at all? Stock is questionable for sure

I guess these are locked up?
I've loaded a codec for mx player pro that plays everything ive tried so far so is that as good as it gets.
Is this thread still around or do my messages fall on deaf ears? I guess as the manufacturers get better and google does their thing, rooting hasn't seemed as needed as it once was. My Galaxy s8 definitely doesn't need it as it does all the things I once needed root to do. My assumption these devices are there or they are close enough.
