[Q] How to Connect Gear S to LG Flex 1(AT&T) - General Questions and Answers

Hello Everybody,
Disclaimer: I am an extreme noob when it comes to rooting and so forth, I performed one back in 2010 on an HTC HD2 that i used a kernel (i believe) for nexus on and turned it into an android.
Anyhow I just bought a gear s, and was able to download the gear manager on my phone the gold one (used blackmart to do so), however now I can not connect to the device because it needs to download samsung crap on it i think. I came up with two ideas which are as follow and I need assistance on recommendations.
1. root my g-flex and turn it into a note 4, I have no clue how to do this and don't know if it is possible (any help here would be greatly appreciated!).
2. get the galaxy app store on my lg flex and perhaps it will be able to download the updates for the gear s?
I am sorry that I am such a novice, but I do understand the basics to coding and everything, if i can get either of these options to work I will gladly post a video of the whole process and instructions on xda so that way others can benefit

First of all: Windows 7/8 are for desktop computers. Most probably you mean Windows Phone 7.
Second: I have zero experience with Windows Phone 7. Perhaps some user will know if it's possible to run it in a Samsung Galaxy.
Go to SGS3 forum & search there. If you don't find anything, ask there; they'll be most likely to know.

Android in car dvd help please

Hi everyone,
I've just joined the forum for some help and advice if possible, I have spent a couple of hours/day's searching the web, you tube and this forum but cant find anything.
Basically I wanted to put a tablet in my car (fto) but already having a galaxy tab 8.9 that would not fit and couldn't justify to the wife for buying a second tablet which I might not be able to get to fit and if I ruin the dash, parts are not easy to come by. So I got a android in car dvd player from hong Kong. It does the job for the most part but have ran into a problem. It has no menu button
The item number on ebay as I cant post links yet is:
181038119929
The information I found for it and what is available is:
Its a cpu free scale 1 mx53
Android 2.3.4
MCU version 2.10.2-vw-cr
From what I can gather the manufacturer is erisin??
Basically if it can be rooted I can either change the buttons like make the back button long press into the menu button? But im not sure of software I need or the process. Does the software need to be specific to the device? Also having never rooted a device would I lose all the apps/process that are specifically for the device?
Any help or advice would be appreciated and has anyone came accross these devices before?
Many thanks
Phil

[Q] Versus Touchtab 10.1 DC info needed

Hi Gurus,
Does anyone have any information about the Versus touchtab 10.1 dual core with android 4.1? I have just ordered it and am waiting for delivery.
http://www.johnlewis.com/231888577/Product.aspx
It has a pretty decent spec including the RK3066 SoC and 1 GB ram with a IPS screen.
I was wondering if it is possible to root it or even better flash it with cyanogenmod??
I understand it is a generic Chinese tablet that has been rebranded as Versus and I think also CnM touchpad. Does anyone know the "master" tablet model number?
Thanks,
hopoffbaby
Hi,
Yea that'd be great. I really love the performance of this tablet for be the price but would love to get a custom rom on it. Have you noticed any issue with wifi when the screen has been off? Mine doesn't like to reconnect. I have to toggle airplane mode to get it connected again.
Thanks
Hey,
I just picked up the 10.1 touchtab from Maplins yesterday, I've also noticed the issue with the wifi not wanting (or taking a long time) to reconnect after the screen switches off, the wifi also seems to be considerably weaker than on my other devices!
Samuel
Hi,
I don't notice an issue with wifi strength and but it often won't reconnect. I have sent them an email regarding this so if they come back to me with a solution I'll be let you know.
Thanks
Thanks, do keep me updated!
Just incase anybody is interested, I'm 99% sure the CnM 10.1 touchtab is the same as the versus touchtab so some useful downloads can be found here: www_kmscomponents_com/cnmlifestyle/products/touchPad10DC.htm#down
(apologies as I cant yet post links)
Nexus 10
I think the best 10" tablet is the Nexus 10, and it's not bad prized i think you should consider that option.
Granted the nexus 10 is a nice tablet but it's twice the price of this tablet which I already have so don't think I'll be buying that. I already have a galaxy nexus phone which does me nicely.
Ideally would like to root this tablet or flash custom rom. If I don't manage to get the wifi working properly though it might have to go back.
Hi.
Great thanks for the files. Hope you u make some progress with rooting it. I don't really know how to manually root these things. I generally just use tools other brain boxes have written Lol. Would really like to get a ROM like cm on it though
What is the sort of processes you'd normally follow to root something with no tool available?
On another note I still haven't heard back about my WiFi issue however I notice if you go into the advanced WiFi settings you can set it to never release WiFi when the screen is off which seems to have fixed the issue so far.
Cheers.
Hi guys,
I just had a reply from Versus (CnM) stating that upgrading the firmware should solve the wifi issue. I'll give this a go tonight (hopefully the flash tool likes windows 8) and see what happens :fingers-crossed:
Hi there,
There is a new firmware on our website www.versusuk.com if you follow the instructions to upgrade your tablet this will resolve your problem.

Quick Versus root tutorial
I just purchased (yesterday) a Versus 10.1 DC from Maplins to and want to use it as a media player when I go away. With so many films in MKV format being bigger than 4GB, the only way I could see films this big was to root it to be able to read NTFS drives.
I followed the same route to root (pun there ) as zoranuk [cheers for that] but started by follwing the guide to install the right drivers first as supplied by user154 [cheers for that too]
So here's what I did and it rooted 1st time:
Installed the correct drivers as per the Vesus Touchpad - USB Debugging Setup Guide.zip earlier in the thread by user154
I then looked at the link supplied by zoranuk
I downloaded the Chinese Android manager application as mentioned on the page above.
Now here's where it can become confusing as it is all in Chinese!
Do not connect Versus yet but have USB Debugging already selected on tablet
Run ZhuoDaShi on loading
it will bring up this window
View attachment 1796599
click where the arrow is pointing
that will bring up the next
View attachment 1796600
again onto
View attachment 1796601
now attach the usb, after a minute or so then click
View attachment 1796602
again click the link
View attachment 1796603
this will root your Versus
I am not taking any credit to this just putting it all in one place, and hopefully get others rooted
cheers
Ian
yes that rooting works great..thanks

I carried out the firmware update on the 8DC and now it won't. It just gets stuck during the root process. So unless anyone has any other advice, give the new firmware a miss if you want to stay rooted.
On another note, has anyone had their ZhuoDaShi update to a new version with a new icon automatically? It also installs some other rubbish as well if you let it!

[Q] SM-A300 recovery sources / board config request

Hi there,
I haven't found an appropriate forum to ask questions about the new Samsung Galaxy A3 SM-A300(FU), so I try it my luck here.
Chainfire already published its auto-root solution for the new device family, but it will take some time until a CWM or TWRP recovery will be available.
Chainfire's auto-root recovery works on my device, and I got the idea to use his working recovery to inject my own cached updates. Unfortunately, the recovery is locked by a certificate, it can't be used to run an own update script.
Is there a way to get the sources of chainfires recovery? It seems there is no possibility to contact chainfire directly.
I already tried to build my own CM-11 recovery but without success, can you give me at least some hints, how I get the needed board configuration? The common webtutorials seem to be outdated.
Thanks and regards,
cloooned
I think this model and forums should be added to XDA.
Who we should ask for it?
Yes, we need this forum....
Hi fellow members,
after my girlfriend got her Samsung Galaxy A3 aka SM-A300, I thought I'd check the forums for more infos around the "usual stuff", root, recovery, roms, kernels... etc.
Much to my surprise there is not even a forum existing about it, though the device is already out, when for other devices the forums will be created way in advance of the market-launch.
I used to develop a very bad impression about Samsung handhelds over the last years, but I have to say I'm seriously impressed with this phone.
It has a great build quality (Finally, Samsung! Just took you 4/5 years... ) and is really snappy despite beeing only mid-range. TouchWiz seems to have matured about 10 years, it just feels good and right, gone are the days of a laggy TouchWiz which many people considered crapware (me included).
Also SW-support seems great. The phone was bought last week and came with a kernel owith build date of December 2014. After initial setup there was already a SW-update available, with a kernel dated of February 10th, 2015.
For me it is the biggest Android-Surprise since years. Samsung finally delivering a well-built phone that doesn't look or feel cheap and offering great SW-support. I'd like to temporarily borrow my girlfriends A300 and give her my HTC One M7 instead, I find it that nice, though, again, beeing of only mid-range specs.
Never thought it would be possible to receive a kernel via official channels from Samsung which build date is less than two weeks ago.
YES, we need a dedicated forum to it.
Thanks!
The design is very appealing for a midrange device and also compared to a S5mini.
In case there will be no future mini version of the upcoming Galaxy S6, this will be the only alternative to a screen oversized phone and will replace the mini series.

l have this device from January....l've been searching for cwm recovery or custom things but only got root by CF........seems like this phone its a ghost sometimes l have the impression that l am the one and only owner of this.....no forum no disgussions about it........ a big shame l guess........
l hope in the near future somebody will begin with the development.....
Same here, seems like I'm in some alternative reality, where Samsung's never launched A3 although I'm holding it in my hand right now...
...or because its not a flagship phone, Samsung gives no support, at least compared to S6. Crap!
'A' series really hasn't caught the development thread anywhere. Seems like the Samsung community is awaiting the S6 and has disregarded the launch of anything prior to it.
I also have the A3 I am looking hi and low for details about is as I I seem to be missing the USB Host option for my USB drives what has really F'ed me off as might be mid ranged but its a option I would of thought it would of had since its a sealed SD card slot

[Q] Monitor Mode?

Hello! I have just been lurking here for a while, but never thought about signing up. I hope this is the right section.
Here's the research I have done on this topic. Please feel free to correct me if I got something wrong.
(Running CM 12.1)
LG G3 (ATT) uses a Broadcom "BCM4339" chipset WiFi card. | [Q] Does this card support Packet Injection and/or Monitor Mode in any way, shape, or form?
bcmon is no longer being updated. | [Q] Would it be possible to somehow "make" bcmon recognize and support the 4339?
And finally, if this is possible and if its a relatively simple task, could anyone be generous enough to actually provide me with in-depth instructions or a ready to go version (of bcmon or something similar)?
Heck, I'll even be happy if anyone were to somehow point me in the right direction.
~Mike
Hey,
I am pretty new to the Xda Forums aswell. And i was doing researches like you in order to run bcmon -hopefully also reaver- on my d855.
I think Nexus 5 has the same bcm4339 chipset aswell and there are some solutions on the net to get nexus 5 to monitor mode. But i am not sure if those can also work out for g3.
Pls post it in this thread if you find any ways to get lg g3 to monitor mode..
Thanx.
