AKG USB-C headphones suddently stopped working - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

Hello, 3 days after updating my Galaxy Note 10, the included AKG headphones stopped working, they work perfectly on another device but stopped being recognized on my Note 10. Does anyone have a solution? The USB-C port works fine for charging but not for the headphones.

Have you tried rebooting your device?

USB DAC

Is there anyone who have tried fiio dac with your Lenovo P2? I have a fiio k1 dac and it doesnt work with my phone but works well with my old samsung j7(2015).Does changing my stock rom help me with this problem?
For me i have managed to get it to work a few times. Reconnecting multiple times and it would work 1 out of every 15-20 times. Very unreliable and I'm afraid i'm damaging the phone in the process.
I just use allcast to stream music to my laptop which then outputs to the dac as a workaround.

Thanks a lot for your reply.I thought this problem was only with my P2. I have tried as you said.Reconnected multiple times and usb audio player pro plays the music at a very loud volume enough to damage the headphone and then all of a sudden the app crashes.Same case with Neutron music player.Poweramp detects the dac and plays song but no sound is heard.I think any custom rom can help me with this problem
P2A42 (hardware p2c72) here same problem only charging Fiio X3 first generation, used to work on OnePlus one and Moto G third generation

I'm using Lenovo P2 unrooted with Stock.
My Fiio E07K didn't work but I could try some others and the Audioquest Dragonfly as well as the Cyrrus Soundkey work like a charm. The Oppo PM-1 didn't work either.
I'm very happy with my new Soundkey...
I'm also using unrooted Lenovo P2 with Stock (P2a42_S224_170725_ROW) .
I confirm that my Fiio Q1 works like a charm...
i havent faced any problem till now regarding the connection...
Stock ROM, FiiO E18 KUNLUN fully works.

How do I know if my headphone port is broken or not?

Device - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
So just an hour ago, I decided to plug in the headphones and listen to some songs. To my surprise, the headphones didnt work. The phone couldnt detect the headphones. I tried to plug the headphones on other devices and it works flawlessly. I even tried plugging a different pair of headphones to my phone but that didnt work either.
I recently flashed an S9 Rom (S9 rom by Killswitch) and then I was messing around with the substratum theme engine.
The headphones worked when I plugged them like 2 hours ago and I didnt even drop my phone.
I just wanna make sure this isnt a software issue which can be easily fixed.
P.S. Does anyone have an idea how much it costs to get the headphone port repaired if it comes to that?
Thanks.

Update : I installed an app called Lesser AudioSwitch. I set the audio output through headphones and bam! The headphones started to work flawlessly! Then I switched to speakers, speakers worked as they are supposed to then again switched to headphones. They worked. I am convinced that this is a software issue. What do I do? Please help.

3.5mm Headset Mic

Hi all. Do I have a defective device?
I noticed my phone isn't recording sound from the inline mic except (very) faintly. These earbuds came with my work phone (Samsung S9) and all the buttons work perfectly. The earbud's mic works perfectly on the S9 and on the 3a thru the Pixel 2's USB C dongle. Just the 3.5mm jack is refusing to record audio.
I thought 'hardware problem' at first but the controls work perfectly and those use the mic circuit... right? So I'm not sure what to think now. Does anyone else have advice?
just tested it. everyone on discord could hear me
I'm a little confused here. Are the headphones/earbuds USB-C? The S9 and the 3a both have headphone jacks, so not sure why a dongle would need to be used in this situation.
Sorry for the confusion.
1. The mic on my earbuds do not work while plugged into the 3.5mm jack (buttons do work)
2. The mic works fine with the USB C dongle
3. The mic also works fine with my S9 (phone they came with)
4. These are Samsung AKG earbuds
Is that more clear?
my wife has a note 9 so i can find her akg earbuds and see if they do the same thing. the earbuds i tested are some ones i got off of fasttech. so maybe it is an issue with the akg ones
just tested the akg ones and they were fine. so it sounds like you have a bad port. i would contact google for a replacement

Note 9 - USB C Headphone Support

Hi,
Let's start a USB C earphone support thread. So far I've tried the following, without full support:
- Razer Hammerhead, Music Yes, Microphone in Recorder Yes, Calls No
- OnePlus Bullets, Music Yes, Recorder Yes, Calls No
I'm starting to think all USB C headphones are going to be like this on the Note 9... Surprised they haven't updated the source to support these kinds of headphones ahead of the Note 10 and it's lack of 3.5mm port.
Same problem
Same problem here. No solution so far. Going to take these things back.

I'm thinking they don't see a reason to have usb c headphone fully supported on the Note 9 because it actually has a 3.5mm port? We all know Samsung is the last to adopt certain things. It would be nice if they did support it though because the range of possibilities would be more for listening to music. Headphone Jack busted...not a problem, use usb c port etc.
Xiaomi ANC HiRes audio type C earphones, not working at all
I've tried Google's for pixel 3 earphones. Music and control (including mic on recorder) yes, phone calls no. But I must say: the sound through these earphones surpasses anything I've tried on my note 9. Even without phone call function the quality of music coming out of these earphones is worth it!
HTC U-Sonic USB-C earbuds are a no-go all the way around on both the Note 9 & Note FE.
The Developer Options on the Note FE even has an audio source option in the USB Configuration section & still nothing.
IIRC, the HTC USB-C buds were one of the earliest models available & may have been proprietary to HTC phones.
I have got them to work on a few non-HTC phones along the way, but, Samsung isn't one of 'em (OnePlus/BlackShark/RazerPhone come to mind,IIRC).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Note 9, 8 and FE don't support the use of USB Type-C headsets for calling.
I use a Lenovo USB-C hub that I plug my Astro Mixamp into and listen to music.
I can't get phone calls to work tho.
i tried plugging note 10 C headphone to my note 9 so it is just able to hear music but can not answer the call. However, the C headphone did on my S10e.
OnePlus Type-C Bullets work!
Hey everybody! I just came on to search whether or not my type C bullets from my OnePlus 6t would work on the Note 9 I just got. Before plugging them in, I went into developer options and unchecked "Disable USB audio routing". Plugged them in and the sound incredible! The in-line volume, play and pise functions on the Bullets work as well. However, attempted to make a phone call and it just stayed defaulted to the phones earpiece with the Bluetooth or speaker phone option. Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience a few moments ago lol. Yes it would be great if we could get these to work with a simple phone call. Hate to just put these Bullets in a drawer to collect dust until the day they are supported by a phone I own lol.

Yes, they do work for listenning, with volume and pause/resume buttons. They don't work for call though.
Something changed in Android 10? On apk mirror is samsung usbc headset app/driver but its not working :/
Couldn't find developer options
Hi, I tried what you recommended. I couldn't find developer options except under accessibility. It didn't have remove audio routing. I have a note 9
I have connected Logitech G933 Artemis wireless headphone with a USB-A to USB-C converter and it works.

Correct. I also tried on a Corsair G935 and audio works but phone calls do it. Tried it on my Note 10 and if works just fine for calls.
Thinking this might be a hardware and not a software issue.
Does Usb C firmware update works on Note 9 too? For usb C headphones?

Okay so i know this thread was started a while back, I just wanna say for any new Googler's that the Note 9 cannot support calls because it has the 3.5mm ear jack which handles all the analogue sounds means phone calls, "Hey Google" and similar cannot be passed through the Type C headsets/headphones. Its hardware so no apps can help with that.

Issue with USB-C audio

Hi everyone, I posted this on the OP7T Pro forum but just thought I checked here as well.
I was trying to use the USB-C pixel buds as well as USB-C to 3.5mm converter with the OP7T Pro.
Initially it didn't work as when I plugged in the earphones, there was no sound. But after rebooting the device, the earphones started working and there's a notification icon at the top that the earphone was detected.
Fast forward half a day later, it stopped working again. Just wondering if anyone had this issue before? Thanks in advance everyone!
same issue
i have a same issue i cant solve that.
Confirmed the issue is due to charging of the phone on my Pixel 3XL's charger. When I charge using my Pocophone's charger or the one that comes in the box, the issue does not occur. Leaving this here in case anyone else faces the same issue in the future.
I'm seeing the same issue
