LG X Venture Oreo Android 8 upgrade - list of issues/bugs? - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone:
I never bothered to perform the upgrade (yet) on my LG X Venture to Orio 8.
I remember somewhere, maybe it was on LG's own site, that I saw a long list of bug complaints
about the phone after the Oreo upgrade. I can't seem to find any of those threads-I'm lost
because LG's forums have no X Venture threads that I can find now.
Can anyone remind me some of these bug complaints that people made about the phone post-upgrade?
Thanks

Any news/rumors on an update?

Just curious if anyone has seen any news related to a new Verizon OTA being in the works to fix some of the bugs introduced with 5.01. Haven't personally seen anything about it but one can make a pretty easy assumption that at some point we will get another OTA.
HTC wouldn't need an entire update to address the bugs introduced in Lollipop.
App updates through the play store can correct the messaging app and keyboard app bugs.
I'm just about quite sure we will get an update to Sense 7 with Android 5.0.2 or maybe 5.1. The HTC One M7 was updated to Sense 6 shortly after the One M8 came out with it. You'd think HTC would want to use Sense 7 as leverage to milk sales, but they didn't seem to have that attitude last year. It was more like, "Okay, the M8 is out, let's get the M7 up to speed." The M7 even got a couple updates before the M8 did, but I forget which. It wasn't a huge lead, but it did happen.

Yeah, u guys should consider yourselves LUCKY lol . Verizon M7's STILL don't have lollipop .. still running on 4.4.3. ...Yet every other carrier m7 have it already..
Big Red last to the party as usual...
Why would we be LUCKY? We're a generation newer. If anything, it's the M7 users who should be "LUCKY." If you were a Motorola user, you wouldn't get updates, period. If you were a Samsung user, your updates would end when the new model began. If you were lucky you might get one six months later. HTC committed to 2 years... They gave the M7 a year and a half. 5.0.x will be the last update... The VZW M7 came out in August 2013, so it got about a year and a half of updates. The M8 came out in March 2014, so we'll probably get updates through September or so.
But you know, Samsung can afford to lose fans. They probably don't care. Motorola, too. I have heard (and don't doubt) that Samsung SPENDS more on marketing in a year than HTC MAKES (profits, earns/grosses? I don't know) all year. HTC is the underdog here. They support Google's no-face-buttons design while Samsung is clinging to the iPhone form factor. HTC uses memory cards while Samsung (and Motorola) do not. HTC is making really nice looking (and sounding!) phones that should be the BASE MODEL at Motorola or Samsung. HTC is acting like they have money to spend, and maybe they do, but if we want them to do things companies can do when they're doing well... We need to support them. If you can afford to buy the next HTC One, buy the next HTC One. Encourage your friends and family to buy HTC. You probably won't make much difference just on your own, but if we all did it... who knows. Especially if you go to places like Android Police who suck up to Samsung and take pot shots at HTC whenever possible, and offer a little CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on that (I'm not a good one for this... I'm an @$$, I just call them Apple Police), maybe they'll change their tone, I don't know. But we're facing a duopoly of Apple and Samsung, and we need to support a third party... especially when the duopoly partners are making the same phone as one another. We should fight for options, especially if we think they are superior.
Hmm. Ya I think we will see at least one more major update for our phones before they abandon us for the m9. M7 users best days are probably behind them at this point.
Isn't this the beauty of Android??? Open source, rooting, modding etc..??? Being able to run custom ROMs on pretty much any Android smartphone out there? I have my old Droid RAZR sitting in a drawer at home that had 4.4.4 on it before my brand new HTC M8 last summer. Still keep it updated as a backup and still works perfect. I would imagine the same is available for the M7, so I doubt the M7's best days are behind it. Now... maybe official support via VZW or updates from them are done, but that's where XDA and the bunch step in.
I just flashed an AOSP 5.1 ROM

What is Alcatel's Android Update History?

I just pre-ordered the phone and I'm curious what the long term support is going to be like. I did some googling and didn't really find any solid evidence that they will support the phone after release.
Has anyone owned their products in the past and received major Android upgrades?
They are not up to par with Motorola or anything, but I googled and was able to find an old link explaining how to upgrade to ICS for a prior phone:
http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/support/faq/ot-995ics-fota.html
Hopefully since this is their flagship phone, there are some developers that will work on bringing updates to the phone
Edit:
Also found confirmation of updates from the SVP of US branch an hour or two ago: http://androidandme.com/2015/05/new...l-3-launch-updates-and-giveaway-announcement/
We’re committed to ensuring that we always have the very best user experience possible and plan to have Idol 3 software updates available to consumers via over-the-air updates. Timing on these updates will be on a rolling basis as needed.

Do you know if, usually, with Alcatel on xda, we may have, at least, a rooted device + a custom recovery to make backups...?
That's what I'd like to know before I purchase one.

HTC One (E8) Marshmallow, will it be?

So after reading a multitude of forums and sources I was very excited to discover that on the official list of updates, there it was! HTC One E8. I must say I was getting excited. Until I became impatient and started looking around the official HTC update tracker (you can find this on HTC us's website under Sprint carrier) in which I came across this heart breaking message. "This device is currently on Android 5.0.2 Android lollipop, at this time no future updates are planned. " Does this mean I'm doomed? Or are they perhaps just pushing us back from the update a little longer?

Looks like we are getting Android N

http://www.androidcentral.com/will-...l&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
great news to us xt157x users. expect android N in the near future, cannot wait for the custom roms for it !!
I think that is just an opinion piece.
I would agree, this is a "most likely" case and probably largely the article writers opinion, or best personal knowledge (there is little to no reference articles to backup this information linked anywhere in the article). Lenovo doesn't have the best track record here... they said they would have Marshmallow for several device and then backed out later too.
If we get it officially, great, but I'm not holding my breath... if not I am sure our developers here won't let us down.
If Lenorola does, I'd be shocked. The 6.0.1 patch has been out for 246 days and we just got . . . May's security update 2 weeks ago. Motonovo has said 2015 was a rough year for them (support wise) but in the 8 months they've had to make 2016 a smooth year, IMHO, they're still rough and bumpy. Maybe some Gold Bond Ultimate?
I made a joke there, and it's not really funny. Feel free to ignore.
I do believe 6.0.1 is a small patch for phones that needed it. Moto X pure doesn't need it. Read this. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/12/16/android-6-0-1-marshmallow-update-whats-new/ .This was for the 6.0.1 update. Then ask yourself if you really needed it. Plus id rather them spend effort on Android N. As far as getting N. We will. When is the question. That would be the last update it will get. But you can cry and switch phones. Good luck on getting updates any faster. Remember you already bought the phone. They would rather you buy a new one.
I agree that we will probably get N. What I don't get is the 6.0.1 update, or lack of it. They released it for the Style 1572, or at least some of them. My understanding was that other than language, the only differences was dual sim and maybe a radio band or two. Otherwise specs show as the exact same. These minor differences should have made any extra development minimal if any was required at all.
I'm not whining about it, but rather just curious as to why it was decided not to give the 1575 the same update. The two models are not like many other ones out there where international versions vs US versions can have larger differences (I.e. old example but take the galaxy s3 with a QC dual core 2gb RAM vs international with Samsung processor quad core and 1gb RAM) and carrier branding creates further issues.
Did you read the link? Im not saying Moto x pure is a perfect phone , it didn't need a 0.0.1 update . Read what it fixed for Moto x play. http://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/110304. Moto x pure already had these when it first rolled out. The fix was minimal and not necessary for them to make. The radio in the Moto x play was bad. They needed a tweak. That was it. You fail to see the relevance of the 6.0.1 patch. Are you having issues with your phone such as camera, radio, serious battery drain? I get a full day with 4.5 hours of screen time. That's almost perfect phone to me. And what ive read that's on par with the majority on this site. So please explain to me what 6.0.1 is going to accomplish for me or any other user for the Moto pure. More emoji's? Give me Nougat.

I browsed through the link material. And you are correct that the features for the most part were already incorporated. Just curious was all. Didn't realize the style had radio issues. Thank you for answering that question. I could care less for emojis as I don't use them.

Any word on when the v10 is getting Nougat?

It's been awhile now since N was released, a lot of devices already have it. The v20 has been out for awhile too. So where LG is concerned, I figure the v10 should be next (or G5/G6). Everything I've read says early 2017. I figure N will be the last official update for the v10, since CM works on our device but isnt fully functional. After that we're pretty much relagated to the past, left to die. Such a powerful device, so much potential, but most of our good devs are gone, and development has pretty much hit a brick wall. Either way, I probably won't update until Xposed is ready, I use a lot of mods that I don't really need, but still prefer having them anyway. I may end up buying the v20 or some other device that has more development potential, I'm very impatient and have stuck with this device alot longer than I should have.
I would think in another month or two. It could be later being LG is pushing the G6 hard this year. This phone is basically dead as far as development. I picked up a Nextbit Robin to flash roms on. I'll probably stick with my V10 and Robin and wait for the OnePlus4 or whatever it will be called.
Sent from my LG-H901 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
likely same FA to same FAQ applies
i'm not aware of any developer, manufacturer, or carrier ever providing any future release dates for OS updates other than basically "you'll know when you see it available to download".
you should look at the official page on TMO site in addition to manufacturer (though manufacturer sites seem to be very inconsistent in listing current info as i'm finding while researching for new-to-me phone purchase).
Nougat already released for several of the systems on
support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates
currently T-Mobile LG V10 H901 is listed as
Stage 1: T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update.
