Im on 11.02
if i boot a twrp via fastboot my phone hangs on fastboot and if i flash a patched bootfile the booting process does not end. It hangs on the bootanimation, though i can login te phone with adb shell and even get root. Im looking for a twrp that boots up in fastboot i guess. Anyone outhere that recognizes this and knows how to deal with this?

Can you post the console output of your PC which shows the steps to boot the TWRP?
Which magisk version do you have in place?
Are you asked to enter a pin from the lockscreen security?

Hey brp about the cons i don't have much idea but the second question, If you don't wanna install custom root then no problem you can still with your original Software, there is no any condition to install custom rom with root file.

I compiled this a while ago after seeing someone in the Q&A section ask about if it was available for the desire. I only had a few minutes to test that it boots back when I compiled it, and I forgot what works and what doesnt. Therefore this is a complete beta test. Do not use this if you dont know what you are doing. In its current state its for advanced users only. Install using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery philztouch.img
If you just want to temporarily test it (without fully installing) you can run this:
Code:
fastboot boot philztouch.img
That'll boot the image and let you play around with the recovery, but once you reboot it will be gone and you will have your old recovery back. (good for testing purposes)
Feedback is appreciated. Thanks
Credits for the development of this recovery go to Phil3759. For more info read here.
Once some testers confirm that it works decently, I will make the OP look pretty and more n00b friendly.

Its almost impossible that this will brick your phone (unless you are flashing it on a phone other than the desire)
If you just want to test without permanently installing, use the fastboot boot command described in the OP.

Il check my desire s... They pretty much the same phone.
Edit: yh the desire s doesnt have partitioning tools. But to be honest, phils recovery is based on CWM its just got a [email protected] load of extra features. And we all know not to partition sdcard with cwm so no real loss if u ask me.

What should I do? The option for factory unlocking is greyed out so i'm stuck. Thanks in advance!
Gotta downgrade to 20a and then use easy recowvery or hard recowvery to flash twrp. Then you can go into twrp and format. Then you go to install and either root or you can use a no opt verify. Now you have custom recovery and/or root. Easy process but you have to read everything you can on the process and do each and every step to the T.
Just went thru the same thing your gonna need to use uppercut to downgrade to 20a then use the recowvery method I couldn't get the fastboot twrp to flash either even on 20a
I flashed twrp with the easy recowvery method and the twrp doesnt stick. I know there is a step im forgetting but I can't remember. Who can help me?
The option to factory unlock is still greyed out even when I downgrade to 20a.
Anyone?

I'd would guess that the OEM Unlock option in Dev options is greyed out because its detecting that you have the bootloader unlocked. Your next step sould be to use easy or hard recowvery to finish rooting on 20a. I've had a good bit of trouble personally with the easy recowvery, so I would recommend trying hard recowvery - https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/root-h830-20a-nougat-lg-g5-hard-t3542496.
make sure youre on 20a and always have the copy of twrp on your internal memory and the no-opt-encrypt. the first time you boot to twrp you must format data, it will delete the zip files you paste on your internal, copy again the zip files to your internal so you can boot again to twrp and flash (you can manually flash it) the no opt-encrypt so that your TWRP will stick. I suggest you use the recowvery method.

Its asking for the password to decrypt your data partitiion - we don't know it. You have to click cancel then format data from within TWRP so it is no longer encrypted.

wrong twrp used. https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...covery-theme-blacked-twrp-acuicultor-t3847752 is a working twrp. use it. The blank screen with blue light means no os installed.
after flashing twrp, you then need to get magisk https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases and flash as well or you will bootloop.
I just have to run the fastboot boot with this image ?
unfortunately, it doesn't work, I just have a blanck black screen again, with just the blue led.

Hey, I saw your problem and now while I was trying to flash the twrp I got stuck onto the same situation and what is worse is I've no recovery and I'm stuck on the blue notification light black screen.
What should I do now? I'm currently downloading the file posted earlier here as I write this but I have a MacBook will it work on this also?
I have an unlocked boot loader if it helps.
I also was on 8.1.0 before all of this but I'm pretty sure I don't have any OS as of now.

bootloader enter your imei it will give a key following all instructions precisely. it tells you the rxact command to use for unlocking the bootloader. after its unlocked, open your command prompt in your adb /fastboot folder. then adb reboot bootloader. after reboot phone will be blank screen. you have to download twrp 3.3.0.0 .img its the most updated. do that before the adb thing. then after adb thing, when you are booted into bootloader.....fastboot boot twrpxxxxx.img
this will boot into recovery. make sure you have magisk 19.zip doenloaded to your phone. then just flash magisk from the recovery, after reboot install magisk apk. there you go. sorry all of this is not in order. ive done it so many times im skipping ahead. i can give a better detailed and precise instructions if needed, litterally walk you thru it, if you need it. but the instructions provided by all the download sites are great. its easy peasy. if you need bettrr instructions youre more than welcome to get in contact with me. you can keep the stock rom fyi. and theres an updated android 9.0 pie stock rom floating around too. im using it, no problems. you have to use xperifirm and flashtool to flash it tho. its simple unless its your first time doing, after you do it once youll ask yourself why it seemed so hard to get to that point. also, fyi, this particular is almost brick proof not saying it cant be bricked because, i did, several times boot looped it, everything, **** right now i dont even have a stock recovery because of some errors i made learning how to do all of this, but its up and running, its not buggy, magisk works great, stock android 9.0 firmware, just no recovery, but good ole twrp works just fine when you boot it for recovery. great phone to learn how to do all of this on. like i said its almost brick proof.
Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra - ROOT and Stock Rom 9.0
enter 192_161_227_73 in ip address format with the ftp header ftp://
should make rooting a little easier, need unlocked bootloader
simple interactive root process
also contains android 9.0 stock for Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra H3223
thanks Luk1337 for your work.
A) I get a stuck boot on SONY white screen when trying to reboot after a boot to twrp using fastboot (swipe to allow modifications and nothing else). Fastboot boot to TWRP was after a clean installation of Android Pie.
B) I even made a TWRP backup of the Android Pie rom but restoring backup runs into same issue of stuck on SONY logo). (well if just a twrp boot to resulted in a stuck boot (as in A) rebooting after a twrp backup restore would not have a chance either but just mentioning)
I am guessing we need a disable verity to avoid this?
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77177197&postcount=3
Do we have a vbmeta.img for the XA2 Ultra? (from stock kernel) sorry if a noob question. Thanks.

Flash magisk or something, it'll disable verity.
Also we don't have vbmeta partition.
So I've had quite of a rough evening today, first of all: I'm not a rooting newbie, so I really thought I could work out all errors on my own.
Haven't rootet my GM1910 yet, so I wanted to do that. Downloaded the latest TWRP, unlocked the Bootloader, and after "flashing" the recovery, nothing worked anymore. Normally it just jumped into the recovery, now I only got the OnePlus logo with the Text "Fastboot Mode"
this was the errormessage:
"downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.166s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)"
After some trying around and not getting it to work, I tried using this to get the device working again:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
tried both flashall.zip and flash-all-partitions.zip.
Now I'm in the QUALCOM CRASHDUMP again with the message
"dm-verity device corrupted Force Dump
kernel_restart"
I've been looking through forms for hours but nothing seems to work for me (mainly the things I wrote above)
I'd really appreciate any help, kind of getting sweaty palms now
Maybe this? It's what I used to unbrick mine but I'm tmobile GM1915....
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/how-to-convert-tmobile-op7-to-t3935947
Yup, thanks for the reply, that worked! I'm not trying to root my device anymore though
Thanks for making my night sleepable today
If you're trying to root your device.. and you have a pc.. just patch the boot.img of your latest rom using magisk.. then flash it via adb.. ???

What are the exact commands/steps did you us to flash TWRP? And why is "flashing" in quotes? You either boot TWRP.img and can just flash Magisk for root without flashing TWRP; or you boot TWRP.img, flash the TWRP installer zip, flash Magisk.
And why does it say "boot.img"? What file are you trying to boot exactly? You should be booting the TWRP.img
I suspect the condition may be due to wrong fastboot command or flashing the wrong file. But we'd need to know the details requested above to figure out what went wrong. What root guide were you following?
In any case, going to fastboot mode, the phone is most likely not bricked. Just stuck in a state that it can't boot into OOS. Probably can recovery using a fastboot ROM, or flash back to stock boot.img.

Hi there,
This problem happened to me exactly to days ago and I'm struggling with it.
My last version of Oxygen OS was 10.3.0
Please people, tell us your Oxyygen OS version before the incident.
@redpoint73 as you may see in my attachment, this isn't an error or a mistype. It seems to be a real nasty problem

Did you try changing the twrp img file name to "twrp.img" (or similar, just something less complicated) and copying into your fastboot folder?
I agree the error message that it is looking for a file "boot.img" is strange and disconcerting. My suggestion may not fix this, but it is worth a try.

But in the same folder as fastboot.exe, so you don't need to give a path in the command? I know this shouldn't change anything (the way you did it should work). But just an idea. The command would simply be:
fastboot boot twrp74.img
Might be a quirk with 10.0.3 (as you seem to already be eluding) or the TWRP build (maybe try another, slightly older?). But again, just throwing out some ideas to try.

I used
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
If I'm not mistaken. Was a few days ago now

Was on the latest OOS Beta. But since using the freshly installed ROM with the MSM Tool, my device feels way smoother and the FPS works way faster. I don't know if thats because I bought the Chinese Version of the phone and there where a lot of trojans running in the background /s
But seriously though, way smoother. Probably partly caused by the longer animation duration set by default, but no idea about the FPS
