How to downgrade to oneui 3.0 or 2.5 from oneui 3.1 - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

hello guys , i need some help .
my device is s10e,G970U1 with unlocked bootloader. today i flashed the bl,ap,cp,and csc from oneui3.1 by odin ,and i get a locked bootloader ,so i want to downgrade to the unlocked bootloader,is here anyway to do that .
maybe i do not need the twrp but magisk is a necessity ,but i cannot flash the patched ap in odin ,what can i do now .
i just unblocked the bootloader at feb 14 ,and now i can not use it ,i am not felling well lol.

I haven't figured it out - trying to flash TWRP or flash the Magisk AP soft bricks. The UI 3.1 bootloader version is 5, and the old one is 4 and it won't let you downgrade since it is, technically, locked now. Though KNOX is still obviously tripped, so samsung pay still doesn't work on my watch.
I don't think it can be unlocked again.

G9700 Snapdragon with OneUI 3.1 and bootloader 5 is working with Magisk v22 and OEM unlock too...

If bootloader is same that you want to downgrade to then yes. If your bootloader upgraded from let's say U1 to U2 or S1 to S2 then no you cannot downgrade back to U1 or S1. And on 3.1 on some devices you do lose the bootloader unlock I believe.

Samsung pay didn't work because Knox was tripped, and it still doesn't work on my phone even after being re-locked.
Given the update apparently bypasses the token used to unlock the bootloader, I think we are SOL. People waited years for such an option, and apparently Samsung is working to lock that down.
Now I need to consider if I want to drop $350 for a new S10e still on original firmware, and then another $75 to unlock. I suppose if I can get $150 for my current phone that's not an awful deal.

They are out there. Some new and refurbs for $250-$350.
In any event, I had mixed feelings about rooting in the first place. I pretty much only used it to limit constantly charging my phone to 100% every night. Not going to throw any more money at a phone already over 1.5 years old. A few years from now, I'll probably regret losing root.

hello, I have Galaxy S10E (Snapdragon) SM-G970W with bootloader v6, can anyone help me to unlock this so I could able to flash custom from, TIA.

It should be under the Verizon model. Usually tracfone does not lock the bootloaders on their variant. On another thread a guy flashed the verizon firmware to this model with no bricks and issue. but doing that WILL lock the bootloader. I hope he responds to my post. want to know to what extent it was flashed and if knox got tripped.

I should be able to get one of these mids august hopefully and will use it as a test device to see what bricks it and what hack can be done. In the past tracfone has release the SM-S975L(Tracfone Unlocked bootloader) which equals to an SGH-I337 (AT&T Locked bootloader), they released the S5 & S6 which equal to the SM-G900V and SM-G920V, both have Unlocked bootloaders. So i dnt think the S7 is any different and equals to the SM-G930V. Any root method that works for the SM-G930V should work on the SM-G930VL. But again this is just my say based on past experiences, i wont know until i get the phone and try all this. For what I know so far he was able to flash the complete verizon firmware which i think will flash a locked bootloader and no going back after it.
Yes will share my experiences.

So i was able to flash the full latest verizon firmware and fully ended up converting the phone to an SM-G930V. SO provided that you flash the firmware on which root was achieved for the SM-G930V, then there is really no stopping you from rooting this phone. As expected due to flashing the verizon firmware the phone has a locked bootloader now but root was achieved regardless.
Proceed at your own risk.

I see, the only way I see this working for you is by third apps or flash a firmware that supports it.

New Update - PL1

It says it provides the latest Android Security Patch on the Verizon Galaxy S5 Update page.
Now that the Odin FW is out, I flashed an Odin tar of the FW without the aboot and still have a Dev Edition phone. Now we just need an updated aboot.
Original Post:
It says it provides the latest Android Security Patch but if you notice, there is a difference in the "middle" of the build number, which happens when they update the bootloader.
Verizon Galaxy S5 Update page
The first time they updated the bootloader, it prevented downgrading. The number went from G900VVRU1 to G900VVRU2. This time, it's going from G900VVRU2 to G900VVRS2. What does this mean? I have no clue. But I do know that nobody should update until someone like @muniz_ri or @jrkruse has a look at the bootloader to see what exactly this changes. Hopefully it doesn't remove the ability to have Dev Bootloaders anymore.

The 2 in the version represents the bootloader version usually as long as that doesn't change you should still be able to downgrade

But what does it mean when they change it from VRU2 to VRS2?
The VZW S5 bootloader has always been VRU1 or VRU2. Now all of the sudden they change it to VRS2? They had to have changed something.

No if they make it so we can't downgrade then their will be no way to obtain root. Since my bootloader update isn't always successful you could get stuck without being able to root on a worse case scenario. Now you can always start over and reroot

You are right, if no root there no unlock.
But If you noticed that all the unlocked devices, Note 3, Note 4 and S5 are downgradeable. S3 and S4 are not!
I think its all about eMMC not the bootloader.

If i read your post correctly, I believe that you may be incorrect on the last sentence. To unlock the bootloader, the devices mentioned need to have the Samsung eMMC 15 chip to aquire unlocking the bootloader.
Also, pretty much the same as the S5, N4 & N3, the S3 & S4 are downgradeable IF you didn't take the update that locked the bootloaders. As i know because I still own my VZW S3 which is unlocked and running TWRP recovery

I own S3 locked on 4.4.2 and 15 CID and no downgrade caused by eMMC and the aboot together, I think there a fuse triggerd so we cant unlock and downgrade.
My S4 is 11 CID and no downgrade too.
The PL1 update is not up yet so we cant be sure it will lock the bootloader or not, but the S6 already has same bootloader versioning letters on the new update!
I also noticed that my Tab 4 (no carrier, wifi only) just got an update for the first time in like a year and it's bootloader version changed from UEU1 to UES1. Maybe it doesn't mean anything after all.
Well now that the odin firmware came out this morning, I created a .tar without the aboot, flashed it, and I still have a Dev edition with the PJ2 aboot. Hopefully @jrkruse will create a bootloader update zip for the PL1 aboot.
The VZW S4 just got it too.

Step 1: Download into your phone CROM.apk [message me for link, I'm new member and can't post URLs...]

What is this "crom.apk" and if all of the devs here couldn't find a way to unlock the bootloader for the snapdragon variant of our phone why would this work? Seems a little fishy to me.
I am not going to be the first to try it and brick my phone. If others try it and it works then I might try it.
Not calling you a liar, I just know that the devs here worked long and hard and didn't find a way to unlock this bootloader so I am not putting much faith into an .apk file. Sorry.

So you are saying after you run the crom on the next reboot it gets stuck, or only after you login to your Google account? If it gets locked/stuck at the boot screen then your phone is unusable. I am not trying to be a jerk or be difficult, and I hope you figure this out, but until it is fully usable I am not going to try it. Are you using the S8 or S8 plus?
Good luck figuring it all out.
Well, so I guess I should be more active in the site.
There are two firmwares for the G9550 the Hong Kong and the China, one has the bootlader unlocked and the other doesn't, you just have to install the one that is unlocked in your phone through odin. After that you can install magisk for root. I haven't done the process in Oreo, just Nougat, but I have a rooted S8+ g9550 doing this. Today I might try it in Oreo

Time to Complain to Samsung for the Locked Oreo Bootloaders

it would not help, samsung, Dell, HP and so on, everyone has patched their bootloaders or bios/os microcode updates cause of specte/meltdown. there is no manufacturer that allows to downgrade after a update for meldown/spectre has been applied. it has nothing to do with samsung, it's just a way of protecting their consumers.

That is not true, In Oreo you can no longer use the OEM unlock option. You can not flash Oreo bootloaders. You get an FRP boot loop. This is a new change that forces Oreo users who are on custom roms to stay on Nougat Bootloaders.

People in the Oreo threads are saying you have to wait 7 days and you can not turn the phone off or reboot in those 7 days for the unlock option to show up. If you turn it off or reboot the counter resets. I can't confirm this, just relaying what everyone is saying.
I remember when I thought my opinion mattered.

Buying an S8+ And Hoping to Root; Any Questions I Should ask a Seller Before?

I had an HTC 10 w/Sprint and it's getting old and full, but I liked how easy it was to unlock the bootloader. I enjoy having a rooted phone and I'm seeing that the S8+ (US Version) can be rooted, but I'm assuming there's prerequisites that used phones might/might not have to do so. So I'm just wondering if there's any questions I should ask the sellers of an S8+ on Swappa or eBay to make sure that root is possible when I decide to buy one? I don't wanna wind up w/a LS997 situation, where I got the phone but it was too upgraded that the methods to root were patched up. Thanks for any help.

No boot loader unlock. There is a method for root. It's system only root and only on nougat.
Coming from LG you've seen anti roll back we have the same. But they're is a method to downgrade the system only even on the latest boot loader to have rooted nougat https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/development/root-t3909782/post79500078#post79500078
Safestrap is like fish on the lg g4. once safe strap is in place you can then flash a older system image from older boot loader revisions.
Even on the latest boot loader we're have Samsung's test firmware called combination files. Which include a nougat bootloader that is a permissive kernel and allows for root.
I ran lg all the way back from g2 to g5. So I've been in your shoes too. that's pretty much how I ended up here. From a sprint g2 g4 and g5
So even if the phone is upgraded, there's a method to roll back to an environment to root an S8+? So I can basically just cop an S8 w/no worries then and not ask any prerequisite questions?. That's good to see. I appreciate the assist.
