Hi Experts,
I want to upgrade my samsung galaxy note GT-N7000.
After reading on how to install custom rom to N7000. I tried one of the way to install the Custom Rom using Install from Zip using SD card.
Steps i have performed to install custom rom are mentioned below:
1. I have install one app to root my phone.
2. Checked with the help of MD5File checkup to confirm that my phone is rooted or not and found that my phone has been rooted.
3. I have gone to developer option and checked USB Debugging.
4. I have not installed any backup tool for the current recovery.
5. i have copied the N7000 CWM Nightly rom which is for KitKat, but it failed in the verification and errored with Status 7.
6. Then with some other roms its failing in status 6.
8. At last one rom Slimsaber got passed in the verification and removed the current rom but while installing or mounting its rom it failed....(This action is performed using Install using Zip from SD Card)
Result was that my phone got hung on the logo. But some how i managed to installed one korean rom on the phone which was having a older version i.e. 4.0.3 and its update was not available so i got my phone updated with the stock rom of 4.1.2 version from samsung store. So now its back to where i have started
Query:
1. Is that the reason i have not installed a custom recovery tool for the existing rom in case the new rom fails (I have missed 4th point: Is there any best app that backup for current stock rom)
Request:
1. Can you guys please tell me which is the ROM that works for N7000 India version for Kitkat and Lollipop(If available)
2. Please suggest the rom that works with Odin because i have bad exp with installing from SDcard. If possible please provide a link for that tar file.
Really appreciate your support and thanks in advance.

You should install/flash a custom recovery and make a complete system (nandroid) backup directly in the custom recovery.
There are some other apps, which can create an Online Nandorid backup (just check Play store), but some apps are not compatible with all devices and to restore such a backup, you will need a custom (CWM or TWRP) recovery anyway.
To get best advices about custom recovery, ROMs, etc. for your device, please ask in the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [FAQ] [Q&A] [Noob Friendly] HELP THREAD - POST ALL YOUR SUPPORT QUESTIONS HERE thread.
P.S.: To install/flash a custom ROM provided as zip file, you usually need a custom recovery. Stock recovery only flashed signed zip file (e.g. official OTA update files from Samsung).
Thread closed and thank you.
I'v been looking around and haven't found anything. I didn't know this, but guess model just came out in January of 2017? I've flashed TWRP 3.0.2 to it, but TWRP won't boot. Did I just **** my phone up or can I do a factory reset from my settings and will I get my Stock recovery back?
Hi !
This is a twrp thread for your devices but you MUST ask there if it supports your DEVICE VARIANT
I see that you`re getting help here as well , as has been told , never do a factory reset from setings when you`re using a custom rom
The stock firmware should be found on Samsung`s firmwares website
Cheers !
Hi Guys,
I had a 6.0.1 MM custom ROM (found here in the ROM section) installed on my Galaxy S7 SM-930F last year. I made a TWRP backup prior to upgrading to Nougat however stupid me I have forgotten a folder to manually back up when I was on MM. I've tried to downgrade and restore using TWRP to no avail.. it would say the restore is complete and stay stuck on the Samsung logo. My nanadroid backup ends with G930FXXU1APGH so I searching the ROM section of XDA forum to see if I can go back to what I installed as it appears I have no record of the ROM I downloaded here so I can restore the backup successfully. The backup I am trying to restore is from TWRP 3.0.0 and I am now using a 3.1.1
My questions are:
1.) Do I need to be on the same exact build number of Marshmallow for the TWRP restore to work? (I've tried older/newer TWRP/different build # for Marshmallow)
2.) Is there a best way to find out which custom rom I installed last year (search function?)? All I know is that my backup ends with G930FXXU1APGH so that build # is the only lead I have to search through the forum
3.) Restoring the backup always leads to a stuck Samsung logo. I've tried different TWRP, rooted and gone to Nougat/MM and restoring from there, cleared data/factory settings/cache etc. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for your help.

"Bullsh**t" doesn't help identifying the problem
What is the error message you get
The twrp is not saying something wrong your OS is missed up.
Are you sure you made a clean install of LOS ?
As well as that the LOS fits for your phone?
Can you link to the thread of LOS you used?
Hello Everyone
I have installed TWRP 3.1.0 on my galaxy s2 and also Lineage 14.1 . So far so good . It wasn't that hard to install custom rom and recovery but i got an issue which is upgrading TWRP 3.1.0 to the latest version 3.2.3 . I did everything correct but it just does not update to latest version. Once i installed the recovery image then rebooted , TWRP disappeared and stock recovery showed up. I also installed TRWP app (installed img and flash to recovery etc.. ) as well but nothing worked.
My question is does Galaxy s2 support latest TWRP or is there anything else that i should do ? Please if you can share any solution to solve this or any suggestion to update TWRP to latest version.
Thank you

Are you using iso-rec recovery?
There is a specific combination that is required to flash TWRP on your device.
I'm assuming that you have used the re-PIT created by @Lanchon, since you have LOS installed. The way the recovery is handled on your device is it is packaged into the kernel bundle, I believe, so it isn't flashed to the stock recovery partition, it is flashed in another location where the iso-rec recovery was originally flashed. When you tried to update your TWRP, you probably corrupted how that is structured and it reverted back to stock recovery instead of booting TWRP because, as far as I know, the stock recovery is still installed in its native recovery partition, even after flashing iso-rec recovery. Find an updated iso-rec version of TWRP for i9100

TWRP issue for galaxy s2 i9100
Hi Droidriven
Thank you very much for responding my message , i'm using iso-rec recovery 3.1.0 right now and i followed these steps to install it ;
1 - I9100 _1.5GB system _6gb data _ 512MB PRE-LOAD by gangster .pit
2 - IP KERNEL 14-03-CWM - FOR + ODIN ( via odin )
and then
lanchon 20160406 I9100 + twrp 3.1.0 .
I did everything correct with istallation of twrp 3.1.0 and LOS
I'm wondering how can i upgrade twrp 3.1.0 to 3.2.3 ?
I thought galaxy s2 does not support latest version of twrp recovery . TWRP 3.1.0 is the only latest version that works for galaxy s2. Is that correct or is there any other way to update twrp to latest version on galaxy s2 ? Because i installed twrp app , did everything ( flashing img rebooting etc. ) it did not update to latest version. Please can you tell me if you know how to upgrade to latest version . i'll be appreciated . Thanks again for responding .
Have a nice day.
Thank you

I don't think you can use the standard version of TWRP that would be downloaded from the TWRP website or via the TWRP Manager app. It has to a TWRP that has been made to be compatible with iso-rec recovery/kernel.
If you still have the file that you used to install iso-rec TWRP 3.1.0, maybe you can extract that file, remove the 3.1.0 .img and replace it with the latest TWRP.img then rezip the file and try flashing that.

Hi Droidriven
To be honest i've never thought about extracting file , removing the img and replacing with the latest one. That is a good idea actually . Maybe It could work . I'll try that.
Thank you so much for your quick replies. You have been great and helpful. I really appreciate that.
Thanks again
Have a nice day.
