Has Samsung at all released or plan to release the source code so developers can start making root available or ROMS. This model is the one with the Exynos chipset

IDK about Samsung future plans or activities, but ATM I can not find any stable custom ROM for your device. Sorry.

Samsung and any other companies always give the android kernel source, it is a must as stated in the linux kernel license.
This is not what CM needs.
Sent from my GT-I9300
i9505 uses Qualcomm so CM devs won't have a problem with it.
The i9500 on the other hand will need sources for the Exynos Octa which Samsung will probably never release. Kernel source isn't enough.
Most CM maintainers are not interested in this device and ha e no plans on working on it. So while kernel source is great. People are better off picking up develolment themselves.

late to the party man. old news
The 4.3 upgrade just started rolling out for the S3 and now we also have the kernel sources : http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=I9300
The “update12″ file is the one you’re looking for, with version XXUGMJ9.
What does this mean to the average user? Will this be integrated into something like CM or would I need to flash this separately? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

This is only for i9300 - this source has no bearing on i747 other than to confirm that it may eventually be released to i747
i9300 is the international version and has a different chipset than the i747 (or other US variants).
Latest rumor mill points to 11/13 as official release date for AT&T 4.3 btw

This forum is the for international Exynos based S3 and Note2.
d2att is a completely different device and story.
The S3 kernel source applies to I9300, I9305, N7100, N7105 and all t0lte.
Not 100% but about 98%

This forum is for qcom and exynos Samsung S3 + Note 2 actually.
And he's clearly saying that it doesn't apply to the I747.

Which kernel. The discussion was about sources.
If one takes the source and compiles it for the lte variant of the s3, it works.

If your device was already having custom kernels of older sources... Yes.

Hello there,
I have a SM-920i and I was wondering if there are any updates about cyanogenmod 14 for this variant of Galaxy S6, made in Brazil.
I look at the cm14 device list everyday, however, I know the Galaxy S6 has never been part of the official list. So if there is a ROM, it should appear here since cyanogen forum for this device is empty.
There are some articles claiming that Samsung is already testing a beta version of the Nougat operating system, and a release is expected by the end of the year. There is a Nougat update to 7.1 estimated to be released for that time as well. This means that the official version of Android Nougat for all the variants of the Galaxy S7 and S6 is coming soon. Some say February 2017.
Thanks.
you can work on this if u cant wait

If you know anybody who is working on it, I'd be happy to beta test it.
I'm trying to resurrect an old S7 by installing a Custom ROM on it. Some of the ROMs seem to support only the Exynos version of the S9, but others do not specify. For instance, crDroid does not specify either version (https://crdroid.net/dl.php), while Pixel Experience specifies the Exynos version (https://wiki.pixelexperience.org/devices/herolte/). If no version is specified, can I assume it will install on my phone? Or do those that specify the Exynos version also work on the Snapdragon? Do you know a custom ROM that will install on my phone?
I'm no computer wizard but I have some experience modding hardware and software on Mac computers. I'd like to experiment on the S7 so that I can install a custom ROM on my S9+ when it's no longer supported....
Well if you ask for Snapdragon S7
Right now it has no roms
all those there are for the exynos since the snapdragon has a locked bootloader which i don't know how they still didn't find a way to unlock it,also exynos roms will not work for snapdragon
they will make the phone stuck on boot
The Samsung tab s6 lite is an older model with lineage and other roms available, will the S7 FE get any open source ROMs in future?

Probably not until there is a stable recovery...
And I noticed ads about Tab S8 so yeah I'm very doubtful as developers like to get on newer devices.
However I still hope one day we will see recovery and roms

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see where the state of 3rd party development goes with samsung's latest devices in the coming years

Interested to buy this tablet too since S8 series just released and so the prices decreased for 7 series but i'm on hold because there are no custom roms available atm.
Do not want use the stock samsung rom, want a vanilla aosp rom and install packages i like to make it as light and fast and possible.
Hope lineageOS devs will consider to port LOS on this device too like they did with S6 series.
