Good evening, I'm on stock Indian variant of Poco X3. This is my second Poco device and third MIUI device.
In all three devices I always set the region to USA when I setup my phone because I don't want bloat and other trash that gets installed if you select India. (Like MiPay and Get Apps)...
I do understand that India region has support for Fonts and access to more themes. Similarly are there benefits to other regions?
Example : Louder volume or antenna power?

This is the easiest and convenient way no PC needed..
Just download the app Network Signal guru
Link-( [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qtrun.QuickTest&hl=en) or search in Google
install ,open and grant root permission ..
Then from the top right corner tap the three dot menu.
Select Lock Band
Select LTE for 4g Bands(It will then show a list of bands your current network provider is using)
Then select the desirable frequency And reboot..
Thats it.. If you are facing slow lte speeds then you can select the intermediate band to minimise bandwidth limitation in your area..
According to my observation the modem uses the lower frequency as default... and during downloads switches to the maximum frequency band..
So use intermediate bands like 1800MHz(Band 3) For more consistent Speed if You are facing speed issues.
Thanks very much, I've been looking for this for long time. I live in rural area and only B40 of Jio 4G gives good speed but it has less coverage still I use it to download at better speed. I wish I could do the same on JioFi 4G modem.
Thank you once again.
Latest free version no longer has lock band option.
This app lets you lock 5G/LTE/4G/3G/2G bands on most Samsung phones running the latest One UI software (no root required!):

NSG requires root. This app does not https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/g49ocr/app_samsung_band_selection_app/
Hi guys, just to know
You need the 2.8 version (you can find it on Aptoide) to lock the band. With the last version o play store it wasn't possible for me.
P.S. Currently using 2.12.0

On Xoaomi Mi 9T (MIUI 12, Android 10) with Magisk v21.1, I cannot get NSG to run anymore.
It shows Testing and N/A forever
Two months ago, I had a little bit older firmware (but also MIUI 12, Android 10) and it worked fine, but on Magisk v20.4 and v21.0
Tried couple of older versions of NSG, the same.
For NSG 2.8.0 it displays that it is out-of-date and doesn't run
I've updated to 2.12.0 and it's working but i'm on Android 7.1.1. Maybe these versions are incompatible with the latest android releases.

Mi A3 is not supported by NSG
I got the OnePlus 6 in India, but I live in the US. Is there any way for me to change the device region to match? Apparently there are some differences in functionality between the two (notably double-tap to launch camera not working). I am rooted and have Magisk installed.
Hi guys,
I am looking for a way to add / enable the smart lock functionality to the MIUI ROM (i use the weekly xiaomi.eu).
That functionality is there (i get the notification to enable smart unlock when pairing a new BT device), but it doesn't work.
Is there any way to do this with root? Perhaps a magisk module or a standalone app?
I spent a lot of time searching for it, without any luck.
Thank you!

do you have twrp?
i think this feature come with Gapps... since we have a fork of the current Gapps it will not be availible...
just to be shure.. youre talking about "Smart Unlock" that consists on body detection, bluetooth unlock wen connected to trusted devices, face unlock and voice unlock.
if you're interested on face unlock just change your region to India or Hong Kong.. on the security tab neard the finger print option will apper something like "add face data"
Note if your region is set to India you'll receive news about criket, your music app home screen will be set to some indian music service (it requires 2 clicks to go to the normal music library), your Mi video app will have the same behaviour and in the home screen there will be more Xiaomi related apps.
Hi, this is a standard in Android, but somehow, Xiaomi blocked it in MIUI.
I am using xiaomi.eu weekly rom, i already have face unlock without switching to India.
What i really care about is the ability to keep my phone unlocked while it is connected to my smartwatch and my car.
When i pair a new BT device i get the option to add is as a trusted device, but it doesn't work.
I really love the hardware, but i hate MIUI. Why do they want to re-invent the wheel? Anyway, this is the last time i buy a device with MIUI.
I tried Pixel Experience and Lineage OS, but they have some other problems. For example, if i use Android Auto, once i disconnect the phone, the screen starts to flicker really bad - i cannot use the phone until i reboot it.
So, i have to stick with MIUI......
Cheers!
My understanding, as things stand now (I'm a new guy to MiUi) is the following:
Aside from face unlock, smart unlock functions are essentially broken. Trusted Bluetooth devices only works with other MiUi devices. Current workaround for having your device unlock always in your car, for example, is to buy a mi band and leave it in the car.
As far as trusted voice unlock, I believe xiaomi.eu is waiting on a weekly global beta for mix 3 which they expect to have the required material included that they can poach to get this working on other sd845 devices like mix 2s.
Not sure I have all this right, so someone correct me if I don't....

Even with Mi Band as unlocking device, the function is not really reliable (at least not in my experience).
As often as not, it happens that the phone does not unlock, even with the band on the arm holding the phone.
Buying a band explicitly for that purpose will not satisfy you.

does the stock phone app support recording of calls?
If not, will any 3rd party apps for call recording work on it?
From the info I've seen at NLL ACR's site, it seems that manufacturer-supported recording is all that will work... anyone know any better?
thanks,
Yosh
Xiaomi have become quite sneaky in the way they now market their phones. I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Global ROM and turns out it does not native call recording and even 3rd party call recording apps are not supported. However, the same phone having Indonesian and Indian ROMs support call recording but again Indian ROM does not support NFC but Indonesian supports it. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Anyways, I tried to flash the Indonesian ROM and guess what? I was not successful in flashing the Indonesian ROM and reverting back to the original ROM now my phone does not detect any SIM cards.
I'd steer clear away from Xiaomi phones hence forth.
Hi,
I've got several devices with VoLTE/VoWiFi capacity (like Xiaomi mi 9T Pro, OnePlus 8T, Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, Google Pixel 3...), but that are not supported by my carrier (Orange France). They only allow it for the devices on this list, according to tests they performed in their lab to ensure there aren't any issues to register them on their network :
https://reseaux.orange.fr/famille/appels-wifi
However, the other carriers in France I tested (SFR and Bouygues Télécom) are allowing these devices to have VoLTE/VoWiFi (I used both sim slots, and I have LTE data access on both. It's always the non-Orange SIM which can make LTE or Wifi calling).
Does someone know how to fake my device model in a carrier perspective ? I tried Device Faker plus and Android faker (on this thread : Android Faker) Xposed modules (on different LineageOS versions with Magisk installed and Riru/LSXposed loaded), but it's quite hasardous to make any random changes, without being sure which one could be effective to change.
Thank you in advance if someone has a solution !
Hi,
I'm sorry to answer so late but i just subscribe to orange, and i have a poco f3, i think this device isn't compatible with this carrier, and i want to know if you find a way to get it work.
Thank you

If the carrier doesn't support the device, there is nothing you can do.
No, sorry, I didn't find anything. It seems all you can do is related to play store, and so on. I was able to fake my phone model to be able to install certificates from my company (for emails sync, through exchange), but that's it. It seems it's handled directly by the chipset, and you won't be able to change that within Android.
A year later, I'm on the same boat. Is there anything new around this?
