Remove Red 1? - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

Hi, I have a OnePlus Nord but after some Googling I have found this applies to any OnePlus device (on oos11). The issue is if a number 1 is shown on the clock on the lock screen, always on display or notification area (when pulled down) it is red (their branding) it might also appear elsewhere in the phone but I have not spotted this yet. This cannot be changed is bugging me. I know I could root and move to LineageOS but I am concerned about things like resetting fingerprints and other features not working as well as in OOS (camera maybe), so I am wondering is there is any way of altering this without changing the look of everything just removing the red.
I assume it will still require rooting, which is something I was planning on doing soon anyway so isn’t an issue, if anyone has had any issues with rooting the Nord please let me know if there is anything special required.
I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this?
Thanks.

I don't own a Oneplus device i.e. no knowledge at all. But in the OnePlus 8 / 8 Pro & 8T Cross Device Themes, Apps etc. forum there's a concerning thread that might probably work on the Oneplus Nord, too. As stated in that thread root and Substratum are required.
[Substratum] No Red in OnePlus Clock - Remove the red 1 from clocks
No Red in OnePlus Clock Exactly as it says, and nothing more. This is a Substratum Theme I quickly brewed together to get rid of that awful red 1 digit that appears in most digital clocks in OxygenOS 11. The following clocks have been altered...

How to remove Screen Corners?

So, I know this title seems odd; I changed the resolution of my Phone with ADB to maybe get a 18:9 screen ratio but with more sharp edges since I really dislike how the 7 Pro has such round edges that just look terrible in some app's overlay, bc they weren't built for that in mind.
however, I found out that that won't help me with my problem. I thought the Screen Corners were just a hardware thing, but it turns out its actually on software as well. Does someone know how to potentially remove these? (it will probably not have these software added notches in custom roms, but i'd prefer using the default/openbeta rom from oneplus directly)
try this. the instructions are for a google pixel 3, but hopefully those settings exist for the oneplus.
disable rounded screen corners on pixel 3

thanks for the answer, it doesnt work like that for the oneplus 7 pro, but i will look into stuff like this and reply again if i found out how to do it <3
Not sure what you expect to accomplish. The rounded corners are the physical edge of the display. You can see this in TWRP or any non-black boot animation.

as i said i wanted to reduce the vertical size of the screen and disable the software rounded corners. i only found out that there are software edges BECAUSE i changed the resolution of the display via adb.
Hello, are you talking about this broken corners thing ? Because whenever I install a custom ROM, the corners are very pixelated, which doesn't happen in Oxygen OS. Also, still concerning OOS, I tried to modify the overlay with the adb overscan thing and I was able see the rounded overlay moving, so it's definitely related to the software.
Also I managed to get a picture of the same problem on a OnePlus 6T. You can clearly see the pixelated corners.
I truly hate how there isnt an option for this. You can use "adb settings put secure sysui_rounded_size X" on Android 9, but not on Android 10. There doesnt seem to be a way to do it. I've used a Substratum theme (Curve) to temporarily (for a second) disable the rounded corner overlay but it doesnt stick, and there is nothing I've found over 3 days of intense searching for hours and hours. Custom ROMS have the option (Havoc 3.1 has a rounded-corner radius slider setting but changing it has no effect, even after rebooting).
Please tell me there is something someone has come up with. Its so annoying to have an ugly af rounded corner. I am using adb to reduce the display height to create a "software bezel" and want to reduce the rounded corner radius so it looks much less rounded. I can do it on Android 9, but the nav bar doesnt work well on it, and much prefer Android 10.
To ellaborate, the "adb settings put secure sysui_rounded_size X" setting DOES work properly on OOS, but not on anything beyond Android 9. You likely wont notice on Android 9 unless you set the display height smaller than what stock is. "adb shell wm size 1440x2990" is the best size I can say that fits well with sysui_rounded_size of 25 or 30.
Is there an update to this?
have anyone solved the prob?
I know you said something about wanting to be on OOS, but I've found a setting on Resurrection Remix that allows you to change the size of the rounded corners.
I got back on this topic today.
I got it working by using apktool on the ODMOverlay-OPSystemUI.apk and removing the pathData from rounded_bottom.xml and rounded_top.xml. then used rootbrowser to overwrite the original. I assume this could be done using a magisk module, but i couldn't get it to work properly.

That app seems specific to OnePlus devices. Have you had any success with making a Magisk module yet? And, could that work on other devices also? My device is Poco X3 Karna running AICP (Android 12.1) rom. I am very much interested in this; I prefer 'rectangular' screenshots. Please reply. Thanks.

New to V60 from a G8

Hello all (and thanks in advance). I just upgraded from a G8 to a V60 and got some questions that I am hoping you all can help me with. I have the TMo variant with the latest update (A11)
- I have heard about fingerprint sensor can lead to battery drain. How would I notice if I have a problem and any workarounds? (So far battery hasn't shown an issue)
- Any good launchers for the dual screen?
- I noticed the auto brightness on it is too low. Any workarounds or fixes? It is the worst auto brightness I have seen.
- Any way to get the 2 button gesture on V60 (like was on G8)? I am not a fan of the new gesture setup
- Any covers for the outside of the dual screen? (I saw some posts with dead links)
- Best version of GCam to use?
- If using stock camera app, any suggestions for set up?
- Any other advice?
Welcome! I like this phone a lot, and am saddened that LG is pulling out of the mobile industry entirely.
I can't answer all of your questions, but I'll try to tackle some of them.
- I haven't heard of any battery drain due to the fingerprint sensor, and after owning this for almost 13 months, I can't say I've experienced anything of the sort. If it's there, it's so minimal as to be unnoticeable. I have slightly less battery life on Android 11 than I did with Android 10, but that's only because I had to tone down my aggressive de-bloating (which worked fine on Android 10, but causes soft-bricks on Android 11). I haven't had the time to troubleshoot, so I just kept the de-bloating to a minimum with Android 11 and deal with slightly shorter battery life. It's still more than long enough to suit my needs just fine.
- I haven't used my dual-screen in almost a year, but back then, there were no options for alternative launchers. I main Nova Prime, so while that was working fine for the phone itself, the dual-screen attachment was stuck using a version of LG's native Home launcher. Sucks, and it's one of a many reasons why I wound up stashing my dual-screen attachment in a box somewhere and stored it away. If you do use it, maybe check out the WideMode for LG app. I believe it was created for the G8, but when I last checked, it worked fine on the V60 dual-screen attachment and may increase your device's utility.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.refy.android.g8x.widemode
- I've noticed that on Android 11, the auto-brightness doesn't work nearly as well as it did on Android 10 (I've even factory reset multiple times). Sometimes I have to pull down the notification shade and toggle auto-brightness off and then right back on. Helps, but it's hardly a permanent fix. Seems to be a bug introduced with Android 11, and given the state of LG's future in mobile, I wouldn't bank on it being a priority fix.
- Not sure what you mean about the G8's navigation gestures (never used that phone). Their stock Android 11 gestures are MUCH better than the garbage they had for Android 10, IMO. That's the bright side. The crap part is that Android 11 nixed the part of the API that let third-party navigation gesture apps hide the Navigation Bar, and I don't think this is something that can be addressed without root now. I used to use the amazing Fluid Navigation Gestures app when I was still on Android 10, but had to ditch it for Android 11. So yeah, 11's gestures are better than 10's, but they're still a step down from FNG, IMO.
- I thought the dual-screen attachment was built into its own case-like accessory. You can replace this? I had no idea and have nothing to contribute here. Sorry.
- I'd kind of like to know about GCam too.
- And if GCam is not possible, I wouldn't mind guidance on the stock LG camera app, which is what I use (everything on default settings).
- Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the phone!

Thanks for insights. Wondering what were you able to debloat and how?
There was an old thread from around when the phone first launched dedicated to de-bloating, but as I discovered, it's basically specific to Android 10, and trying to duplicate the process on Android 11 led to some soft-bricks (at least for me, with an American AT&T device running on the AT&T network).
It involved using ADB commands to manually "uninstall" a whole bunch of system packages. It was tedious, and having to factory reset when something goes wrong to try again with fewer packages is a bit of a pain in the butt. So I largely gave up on that process and just wound up using the recommendations included with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pdmdm.dmplay
That said, I noticed that a new thread popped up in March 2021 explaining the ADB method but providing a new list of packages (including T-Mobile- and AT&T-specific bloat) to remove. Going by the date the thread went up, I assume it's for Android 11, but I don't think they actually specify that. I have NOT yet tested this, so I can't vouch for it. But it seems promising, and it probably beats a thread that's nearly a year old and DID cause issues for me after the Android 11 update.

[HELP] Screen size,notch,rounded corners change

Hi people, am currently waiting for bootloader unlock, am trying to sort things out and see how am gonna use my new rooted phone Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro (got it as gift), well phone is great, but am coming from old era where rounded corners and notch was not a thing, i still prefeer screens with rectangle shape, and am willing to sacriface lower portion of screen up to ending of rounded corner and same above till the camera module, so i can have nice rectangular screen
Now my question is how to?
How to change screen size? (how to measure where to start and end)
If by software rounded corners still exist how to remove them?
Am planing to flash xiaomi.eu rom (am considering Ressurection Remix) and magisk root.
Thank you great people and community.
It's simple, and can be done without rooting, connect with ADB.
So your device has 1080x2400 resolution, you'll have to lower numbers from the height (2400) in order to get a rectangular display.
Play with numbers till you get it right, commands to use:
adb shell
wm size 1080x2200

Thank you very much, i will check it out once i got bootloader unlock since am waiting 168h on Xiaomi devices, i will not fiddle with anything so i dont mess something up
And about software rounding, since when in settings i choose option to hide notch and move status bar down, it hides a notch and its completley disabled part of screen, but it still gets a rounded corners by software, i will try this with option dont hide anything maybe then under hardware display is rectangular, but you never know i will let you know , but if it is software how can i find it on my device, since i googled and found something for Pixel devices, and its all diffrent, thank you alot.
And what about DPI , or resolution after that change, should i keep everything as it is

Hiding notch ain't that effective, and you lose some of your screen doing so.
Your screen is a rounded AMOLED, that's hardware, it also has software roundness in order to be compatible with your screen. It's not that hard to disable roundness, for hardware, you can overcome it by "wm size", and you can change DPI by: "wm density xxx" to your desired value.
The software overcoming needs APK editing, so you need a PC/Laptop. You need to edit framework-res.apk (and maybe SystemUI.apk). There's an app that allows you to edit framework-res.apk values directly, you may want to check it:
Privset.

Thank you, its actually LCD, on Redmi note 9 pro, Thank you for commands above, when i screenshot something it appears rectangle, so in theory it should work and rounded edges should not be there
Well for that APK stuff, does installing custom ROM help in that? I was thinking about RR rom,
Also, i dont mind losing screen size, and for me hiding notch is a must doing it this way, personally i hate it, i hate rounded edges, i just hate it my heart hurts when i see it, i got this phone as gift so i need to appreciate it i cant sell/replace it that way its kinda disrespectful

Oh sorry, I assumed it being a budget killer to offer an AMOLED display similar to RN10.
Well .. having LCD makes it a bit different, as the parts you cut off from your display will keep lightening up, that's how LCD displays work.
Honestly, you'll hate it more, it'll be like watching a long video on YouTube without fullscreen mode.
Strange tradition you've got right there, here, we're more understanding, if someone gifted you a phone, it won't matter if you sold it or replaced it, what matters is the feelings you've grown out of his gift.
About the APK stuff, it can be done on any ROM, but it's more stable on AOSP-based ROMs like RR, Havoc, PE, ...
An easy way to achieve your goal would be to use adb wm size, and reduce height. (There's another thing to do, adjust the new touch positions; cause your phone will keep using old positions, so if you're using gestures, it won't work that simple, till you recalculate it. (Easy to solve).

Okay, so a year ago, I had Galaxy S7 that got some water issues, so the bottom part of screen wasn't working, and I was using on-screen navigation bar, so I used ADB wm commands to make the phone usable until it dries up.
What I did was, reducing screen height up to the usable part. Then, I used: adb wm overscan command.
This command tells the system where is the screen end, whether at top, bottom, right, or left. So if your bottom screen is reduced by 2 cm, you'll have to tell your system about that, so that it don't assume it's still at the actual hardware values.
The command uses numbered values separated by commas like this (original values):
wm overscan 0,0,0,0
The numbers are organised LEFT,TOP,RIGHT,BOTTOM
You can use minus too, I honestly don't remember which numbers were suitable for my case, you'll have to check it on your own (won't take over 10 minutes). Only change TOP & BOTTOM values.
Who knows, maybe you won't need to do this anymore, perhaps Android 11's AI does that automatically whenever changing screen resolution.

Themes / Apps / Mods [APP] Arc Lighting - Notification Light for Galaxy S22 ultra

i have tested this app on the s22 ultra and it works perfectly even the aod works do not use override as it no longer is necessary, note that the s22 ultra is not officially supported so you will have to go in cutout settings and adjust the positioning and size of the ring, this is finicky but it's possible, these are all issues that were worked on before, the app has a tendency to crash when adjusting the position.
Arc Lighting adds a highly customizable ring of light around the camera cutout of your phone. You can use this light with various indicators such as audio visualization, notification lighting, critical or low battery warnings, as well as a charge indicator. The ring can also appear on your Always-On display. (to make aod work you need to make sure you have downloaded always on amoled and activated it, you also need to make sure samsung stock aod and samsung edge lighting is disabled under samsung display settings you also need to make sure that aod is enabled under arclighting with override set to off)
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for holepunch devices. Select a variety of colors, animations, and styles.
- Always show ring with various gradient effects (add multiple colors and make them spin for a visual experience)
- An adjustable glow effect that can be turned on or off
- Notification lighting both when the display is on or off (update planned for only the lockscreen or only inapp)
- Music lighting that syncs the light to your music
- Battery indicator lighting for charging, low and critical battery states. (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear)
- Device overheating indicator for gamers and power users (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear)
- Arc Lighting can be configured to match the color of your wallpaper, the app you're currently in, or both!
This app requires certain permissions to function correctly.
Accessibility: This permission is used for the ring to appear over your lock screen, always-on display, and for accessing the color of the current app you're in. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Draw Over Other Apps: This permission allows the ring to show on top of other apps. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Microphone Access: This permission is used to analyze the internal device audio for the music lighting. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to enable the Audio Visualizer indicator for the ring.
Storage Access: This permission is used to get the color of your wallpaper. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to use the color of your wallpaper for the ring.
Notification access: This permission is used to change the color of the ring after notifications
Burn-in concerns: Some Android displays may suffer from mild burn-in if a single item is displayed on the screen for an extremely significant amount of time. If you are concerned about this, feel free to enable the rotation animation in ring settings. That will ensure the display is constantly changing. Alternately, you can disable the default effect to only show the ring while an indicator is being triggered. Note: Samsung Galaxy devices come with burn-in protection that moves the pixels a little each time.
Compatible Devices

the name has been removed i meant no disrespect i just wanted to honor him for the help he gave me i also thought he deserved to be mentioned on xda as he was a known member here i didn't think straight, and apologizing for doubting him, in the past when he stopped responding after i paid him i received a mysterious email claiming they have my sourcecode and that they wish to sell it to me, i made a thread about this on xda which plenty who are aware of this app probably read i didn't name him but i am sure some knew him and thats what i was trying to correct to take back anything i said saying i thought i got scammed and this is guilt that hurts right now as i didn't know, it had been months i didn't know what was happening, i didn't doubt him until suddenly someone emails me trying to sell me the code, i waited months for him and didn't think any of it.
i apologize for doubting him and i have felt bad about this ever since it happened which i told you in the original email that i sent to you, i have been scammed a lot by many i wasn't thinking straight and for that i apologize and have apologized multiple times i hope you forgive me as i didn't know, hence why i wanted to take this thread to mention it to correct my original assumption it was meant as an apology not the other way around.
i didn't mean any of this and i hope you know that he was a good friend and i enjoyed working with him he also was very compassionate it wasn't just work with him i enjoyed the time i spent knowing him i miss him
Hi, would like to request arc lighting unlock codes for my s22 ultra... Thanks !
Hello. Sad news. My condolences.
Thanx for keeping this going, though.
Still possible to get a code for
Arc Lighting?
Thanx for the replay
Could I also ask for the code to the programme?
Kind regards.
Would love to try the code please
Would it be possible for you to also send me a code for the S22?
Also, thanks for taking over the project and my condolences. I recently recovered from COVID and I can attest that I hope no one ever has to go through it.
Are you taking questions about the app or suggestions?
My condolendes ❤
Can i try it please?

well i am not sure of the future of the app currently but yes i am taking suggestions some things that i already know needs to be done or well not all of them it's just ideas i wanted originally on this app
realtime toggle needs to be removed as you have to manually turn it on or off, and the positioning system needs to be simplified, right now it's extremely finicky to adjust the position, positioning also needs to be possible despite a phone being supported, basically you have a menu you enter for positioning which makes the circle a clear color with an easy to adjust menu so rather than a menu mixed with everything else you get an isolated menu that turns off the ring and makes it a solid color, once you exit that menu the realtime toggle will be off.
some bugs
glow causes the ring to be frozen white very old bug
music light sometimes works sometimes not, some indicators makes the others turn off entirely i don't know how this works exactly i just know some make the others turn off.
crashes when adjusting position of the ring
sometimes the ring just stops working at which point you have to force restart it and redo the accessability permission
homescreen/app ring rather than just always show ring, so you can have the ring behave a specific way on the homescreen and inapp as well as everywhere so the ring can become a wallpaper addition, these features were already in my arc lighting navbar app so maybe this can be ported considering arc lighting was built off the navbar sourcecode
landscape issues this is a very known bug something that has an unknown cause as landscape works for me on my s22 ultra sometimes sometimes not
adding indicator options for each color so you can have color segments doing what you want like for example if you have one color spinning around then this one handles notifications while a color on the other side of the ring handles something else, this was an advanced idea though and not something i expect to be implemented.
turning off various app notfications right now you have to set it to transparent to turn it off.
not saying any of this will be done it's just what i wanted with the app originally

Android 12 default screenshotter doesn't take screenshots of the locked screen

I was told that for reporting bugs with Android I should post on this forum and not contacting Google, so here I am, reporting.
Nokia G21 (finally) received its update to Android 12 and while the main problem was fixed, another one appeared: the default screenshotter which you can access from the swipe down control center doesn't hide and doesn't take a screenshot of the locked screen like it used to do on Android 11. Instead, it takes a screenshot of the control center and also hides the background, making it black. I have the same image as background (or wallpaper, if you will) for both home screen and locked screen. And yet, when you press "Screenshot" while the screen is locked, that wallpaper is hidden and there's only black background with the control center opened - that's what the screenshotter takes a picture of.
So, if you could make the screenshotter behave like it used to on Android 11, that would be great.
I am afraid you just got pranked... unless you got your phone's ROM from here (then you could tell the dev and hope for improvement).
@rado1984bg,
As @SigmundDroid indicated, someone lied to you when they told you to report bugs with a stock ROM here instead of directly to either OEM Nokia or Google. I haven't owned Nokia devices, but since almost every OEM uses their own customized "flavor" of Android, the bug(s) might be Nokia-specific, so you would have to see if there is a way to report issues to them.
Sometimes helpful users here, in your case in the Nokia G10 / G20 / G21 section, can provide workarounds for some issues, although I'm just guessing that issue will have to be fixed by Nokia. Sometimes when there are workarounds, they require a rooted device, which is another can of worms, and I again claim ignorance about Nokia devices with regard to unlocking the bootloader and/or rooting.
Even if you can, just the possibility alone doesn't mean you should root your device, and rooting a device by itself - without a known workaround, won't fix the issue you're experiencing.
