New to V60 from a G8 - LG V60 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello all (and thanks in advance). I just upgraded from a G8 to a V60 and got some questions that I am hoping you all can help me with. I have the TMo variant with the latest update (A11)
- I have heard about fingerprint sensor can lead to battery drain. How would I notice if I have a problem and any workarounds? (So far battery hasn't shown an issue)
- Any good launchers for the dual screen?
- I noticed the auto brightness on it is too low. Any workarounds or fixes? It is the worst auto brightness I have seen.
- Any way to get the 2 button gesture on V60 (like was on G8)? I am not a fan of the new gesture setup
- Any covers for the outside of the dual screen? (I saw some posts with dead links)
- Best version of GCam to use?
- If using stock camera app, any suggestions for set up?
- Any other advice?

Welcome! I like this phone a lot, and am saddened that LG is pulling out of the mobile industry entirely.
I can't answer all of your questions, but I'll try to tackle some of them.
- I haven't heard of any battery drain due to the fingerprint sensor, and after owning this for almost 13 months, I can't say I've experienced anything of the sort. If it's there, it's so minimal as to be unnoticeable. I have slightly less battery life on Android 11 than I did with Android 10, but that's only because I had to tone down my aggressive de-bloating (which worked fine on Android 10, but causes soft-bricks on Android 11). I haven't had the time to troubleshoot, so I just kept the de-bloating to a minimum with Android 11 and deal with slightly shorter battery life. It's still more than long enough to suit my needs just fine.
- I haven't used my dual-screen in almost a year, but back then, there were no options for alternative launchers. I main Nova Prime, so while that was working fine for the phone itself, the dual-screen attachment was stuck using a version of LG's native Home launcher. Sucks, and it's one of a many reasons why I wound up stashing my dual-screen attachment in a box somewhere and stored it away. If you do use it, maybe check out the WideMode for LG app. I believe it was created for the G8, but when I last checked, it worked fine on the V60 dual-screen attachment and may increase your device's utility.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.refy.android.g8x.widemode
- I've noticed that on Android 11, the auto-brightness doesn't work nearly as well as it did on Android 10 (I've even factory reset multiple times). Sometimes I have to pull down the notification shade and toggle auto-brightness off and then right back on. Helps, but it's hardly a permanent fix. Seems to be a bug introduced with Android 11, and given the state of LG's future in mobile, I wouldn't bank on it being a priority fix.
- Not sure what you mean about the G8's navigation gestures (never used that phone). Their stock Android 11 gestures are MUCH better than the garbage they had for Android 10, IMO. That's the bright side. The crap part is that Android 11 nixed the part of the API that let third-party navigation gesture apps hide the Navigation Bar, and I don't think this is something that can be addressed without root now. I used to use the amazing Fluid Navigation Gestures app when I was still on Android 10, but had to ditch it for Android 11. So yeah, 11's gestures are better than 10's, but they're still a step down from FNG, IMO.
- I thought the dual-screen attachment was built into its own case-like accessory. You can replace this? I had no idea and have nothing to contribute here. Sorry.
- I'd kind of like to know about GCam too.
- And if GCam is not possible, I wouldn't mind guidance on the stock LG camera app, which is what I use (everything on default settings).
- Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the phone!

Thanks for insights. Wondering what were you able to debloat and how?

There was an old thread from around when the phone first launched dedicated to de-bloating, but as I discovered, it's basically specific to Android 10, and trying to duplicate the process on Android 11 led to some soft-bricks (at least for me, with an American AT&T device running on the AT&T network).
It involved using ADB commands to manually "uninstall" a whole bunch of system packages. It was tedious, and having to factory reset when something goes wrong to try again with fewer packages is a bit of a pain in the butt. So I largely gave up on that process and just wound up using the recommendations included with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pdmdm.dmplay
That said, I noticed that a new thread popped up in March 2021 explaining the ADB method but providing a new list of packages (including T-Mobile- and AT&T-specific bloat) to remove. Going by the date the thread went up, I assume it's for Android 11, but I don't think they actually specify that. I have NOT yet tested this, so I can't vouch for it. But it seems promising, and it probably beats a thread that's nearly a year old and DID cause issues for me after the Android 11 update.

[Q] Any way to keep brightness down in camera?

Right, I've got a black One S with android 4.0.3 and sense 4, all like new (as it is). I don't fancy rooting it and don't really want to change from the HTC Rom, but the backlight in the camera annoys me. On the touch pro2 with the HTC stuff, I'm certain there was an option in settings to keep the screen backlight down when in the camera. On the Trophy that followed, I couldn't control it, because, let's face it, you can't control much in WP7. however, switching to the one S and android, I expected being able to keep the backlight down.
Why is this frustrating me? I don't like.being blinded by the viewfinder, and I don't want to kill the battery any more than I have to. So, is there a way to keep the phone's backlight down while in the HTC camera app?
Okay, now I know everyone has ignored this thread but I think I've discovered a way. So here's the setup:
HTC One S
System brightness set to lowest
A 4 digit screen-lock password
So I have the passcode set on the 15 minute max timeout, so, the phone locked itself, and I dragged the camera icon on the lockscreen into the ring. Naturally, despite being locked, it still allows use of the camera. Now, it may just be my eyes, but I'm certain I noticed a distance difference in brightness. That is, the screen seemed a lot dimmer when the camera app was being accessed from behind the lock rather than unlocked.
I think the brightness is ok lol

AMOLED displays as the one in One S doesnt have backlights. But there is a mod that lowers the values when using auto brightness since the defaults are a bit high, not especially made for in-camera though. Check for it in Tweak Machine thread in apps and themes forums.

I guess most people aren't that fussed about the brightness, but the battery did seem to last a lot longer when recording 1080p video with the lower brightness.

Does that require root access? From what I can see it does, and I guess that too would be helpful for the majority, but my phone isn't rooted. Mainly because I like the HTC Sense camera interface so much
Yeah you must flash it from custom recovery so at least unlocked boot loader required. Why not try a sense based ROM? They all keep the awesome HTC camera and its snappiness
Unfortunately with the One S update I finally received last night bringing it up from Android 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1, HTC have now removed the incredibly helpful 'bug' of the brightness staying down in the camera if it is launched from the lockscreen with a password set. Thanks a lot HTC, you excell yourselves with stupidity once again.

Bump. Recording lectures is impossible due to HTC's stupidity. The 100% screen brightness not only kills the battery before lecture ends, but it's extremely distracting for people behind me (especially if room is dark during powerpoint presentations).
This has to be turned down. Ideally, once set up, the phone should be able to record video with the screen OFF. Or at least with brightness on min. Surely there's a mod or a hack for this?

hi,
Firstly, I'm glad that I'm not alone in this. As you said, it is extremely frustrating as not only is the bright screen distracting for others and makes you look foolish, the battery hardly lasts any time at all. I contacted HTC to see if they could add a brightness slider, their customer support rep said the technical team would get in touch with me - they haven't.
However, on the positive side, I have found two apps which don't allow you to record with lower brightness, they up the ante to your other suggestion, having the screen off. I'd always assumed that cameras on phones couldn't work with the screen off because I thought the phone went into proper sleep. Turns out that the camera can stay active. There are many poor apps on Play, but I found two which offer free (very limited functionality, but allows you to check that the app works with your phone) versions and rather expensive pro versions. I tried both the free versions and liked the second one I tried so much that I bought it.
The first one I found was (I don't know why they assume people are using their cameras solely for nefarious purposes - some of us do have legitimate reasons and battery life concerns) 'Hidden Camera Spy Camera', Play link (Lite version link is in their description). This one worked ok, but took a while to configure and doesn't have the nicest interface. So I continued hunting and came across an even better app:
Secret Video Recorder Pro (Lite version listed at the side in the More by this Developer panel): This app is even more elegant. I tried the lite version and found that it worked well, so I then decided to buy the full version (apparently it's currently 50% off, but still pretty expensive - well worth it though). After going through the settings, I set it to use the rear camera and force HD recording. I then tapped the icon on the homescreen, it notified me and then just ran in the notification area. I then turned the screen off, whirled the phone around my room, turned the phone back on and tapped on the notification to stop it. I then checked the video and to my amazement, it had worked! (on an unrooted, still carrier locked, black One S running the latest official updated OS (Android 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1))
When I dragged the app into the fixed Sense homescreen dock, originally it displayed nothing, even after rebooting the phone. However, after Sense crashed and showed me a message saying Sense had crashed, it even worked from the lockscreen. If you have the 'Show icon' enabled in the SVR Preferences, you can then tell from the lockscreen that it is actually recording as you can see the icon in the notification bar.
I'm sorry for rambling on and on, but I think SVR just got into my top 5 apps of all time list as it is unbelievably flawless (apart from the price )

Doesn't using SVR defeat your original purpose? It's not using the Sense camera, it's using it's own implementation? At that rate, any aftermarket camera should work and allow you to use default screen brightness.

Unfortunately, yes, it does. SVR is sort of a compromise for me at the moment as I can save battery life but I do miss out on all the Sense camera features. It would be great if HTC do actually listen to my request and implement it, given how simple a request it is, but they appear to be constantly so far ahead with all their development process that I doubt they'd include it in the the Android 4.1 release scheduled for this month
SVR is on one end of the scale of what I'd like to do with the camera (save the battery) and the Sense camera is on the other end (use the camera). Where I'd like HTC to place us is in the middle of those two, with the ability to use the Sense camera but in a power-efficient manner (such as being able to record a video but take stills at the same time, with the battery outlasting the meager storage space).

EMUI quirks and annoyances

I’ve used stock or (virtually stock) Android phones for years. My last properly skinned phone was a Samsung Galaxy s II. So using EMUI on this phone has been interesting. There is a lot that I like, but here I’ll describe a few annoying quirks I’ve noticed, plus any partial-solutions I use. Hopefully this will inform perspective and current P20 owners, but also, if you have a solution to any of these problems, do let me know!
- The settings menu is terrible. They have messed with it so much, and added so many settings, that it is often impossible to find what you’re looking for. The solution is to search, which, thankfully, works well.
- The lock screen wallpaper changes every time you unlock the phone. I feel like an idiot, but I can’t work out how to set my own (single!) wallpaper. There are these collections which you can choose between, and then from the lock screen itself you can favourite wallpapers from the collection (not sure what this does) and pause on a wallpaper from the collection, and it looks like you can add your own collections, but this doesn’t seem to work. There MUST be a work around. All I want is the same wallpaper on my lock and home screen!
- Notification content (including media controls) is always hidden on the lockscreen until you authenticate, regardless of the app setting. This seems to be a bug. Setting up face unlock (and swipe to unlock) at least means you can see your lock screen with notification content when at a face-unlock-friendly angle.
- The double tap vol down to launch camera works fine, except when I’m listening to music, when it just turns down the music. No idea why they don’t give this functionality to the lock button like most OEMs.
- Unlock by voice for Google Assistant doesn’t seem to work. I’ve had this problem on other phones so don’t know if I’d blame Huawei. It responds to ‘OK Google’ from screen off (which is better than my OnePlus) but won’t actually unlock.
- The always on display is a bit weak. It doesn’t even properly show notifications.
Anything to add? What EMUI quirks have you found?
Try this for always on display and notifications

I have sometimes problems with starting my spotify automatically when connecting a bluetooth device, I think a sleep mode problem. Another bug is the one with updating widgets. My calendar widget f.e. crashes after a time. found a workaround with "your calendar widget".
But I think all in all its a great phone with great features

You can find this setting in 'Security & privacy' - 'Screen lock & passwords'
=> 'Update covers' to enable and disable it and 'Covers' to choose the pictures to show
EMUI has made me fall back in love with OxygenOS - the way EMUI treats notifications and the lock screen is diabolical. If I unlock my Oneplus 3 but don't read a notification, I can lock it again and the notification remains on the lock screen. The notifications span the whole screen, and work perfectly.
Also, Spotify on OxygenOS uses album cover art as lock screen wallpaper when playing, similar to how EMUI treats the local Music app.
This gonna be a debate for eternity.
People who come from xiaomi or samsung wont feel too awkward with emui,
Different case if you come from AOSP, or Oxygen or LOS.
Best solution is slapping NOVA launcher as soon as you use the phone.
I've used several Huawei phones now, in fact since the Mate 8 they've tended to be my main phones through most of the year (I still try others, but tend to come back for the battery life and cameras, granted the cameras have not been as good as competitors but the camera systems are more fun to me as a person with an amateur interest in photography and I've taken a lot of shots I don't think I could have got from the others). The P8Max was my first, and the UI/OS was a bit of a dogs breakfast - so many things were broken (many due to trying to increase battery longevity) and many other things required complex workarounds beyond installing Nova which I've had on each of them. It's pretty well fine now, but if you're coming from Samsung or others it's very different and will take a bit of time to adjust to - particularly the level of granular control you have on things affecting battery life. Once you get a handle on it you'll probably end up appreciating a lot of what it offers.
Google Assistant works fine but it makes conflict with Huawei voice control (so turn off one of them)
Double tap volume down to launch camera is a great idea but why the hell it does not work when players or different apps are in the background.....
Hi there!
Setting your own lockscreen carousel:
Settings>security & privacy>screen lock & passwords>magazine unlock>subscriptions>added by me>add>choose image
You can create your own cycle of wallpapers.
In themes App make sure you set me>customize>lock screen style>magazine unlock
I wish adjusting the volume on Bluetooth headphones adjusted the master volume like on all previous phones I've had instead of acting like an in-line control.

Hi how do you get rid of double tap on home screen it's do annoying it's a short cut to access latest apps that have used I have Nova Which is excellent and I'm coming from a Samsung S7 to a P20 pro please help !!
To enable or stop scrolling wallaper just swype from the bottom on the lockscreen and you will see Pause button at the left. if you press that, the scrolling will be disabled and a "play" icon will remain.
I've debloating quite a lot from emui.
Installed swap torpedo
Runs faster now and battery lasts longer.
Huawei should offer a vanilla update.
Last time I saw so much bloat was on Samsung.
Unnecessary.
EMUI was one of the reasons I ditched my P10 after 6 months, went back to an iPhone, then to a Nokia 5...
Have any of the roms developed for the P20 done away with EMUI otherwise this device will be another one i'll have to remove from the list of potential upgrades.
Killing foreground apps
Hi, just bought the p20 pro after years with Samsung. I have noticed that it often kills apps that I am currently using, sending me back to the home screen (reminds me of a crash to desktop in windows computers).
After some googling similar problems I adjusted the app auto start and ignore battery optimization settings and it did get better, although it is still killing apps which I presume is using a lot of memory or battery (or both?), for example posting stuff on Instagram (Instagram is whitelisted from optimization and managed manually).
This is really bugging me, anyone else with the same problem? I'm running android 8.1.0, EMUI 8.1.0 and memory always stays between 2,5 and 3 GB.

Yeah, it's turning out to be a deal breaker for me.. Too bad since I really like the phone. Just hope it's a bug ?
Something seems to be happening to spotify when it is running in the background using my bluetooth headphones. I get stuttering and odd pauses, its basically unusable.
I have found if I use andriod auto to run spotify or use the wake lock program to keep the phone in a higher power mode it seems to help. If I have the charger plugged in it works fine as well. It appears to be some sort of power saving issue (yes I have told the phone to ignore spotify's power usage) or something to do with bluetooth power saving. But it works fine in a car.
Thats my only real complaint, and had I known I would have this issue I would have probably grabbed a onePlus device. Using Sure 215's
One thing I did notice, and I also fixed the problem quite simply.
I turned the display Resolution to HD from FHD my thinking was with a lower resolution I'd have better battery and better performance.
What I got was worse.
60fps lagged so badly it was unusable.
Transitions especially to the Google feed lagged and was annoying.
Asphalt 9 lagged and was extremely crap.
Turned FHD back on, all went back to silky smoothes??
Logic didn't exactly prevail here but it works.
So in short if you've turned on adaptive resolution or HD.
Turn it off
I'm facing this weird problem with my p20 pro. In. 128 and 131 and 152 firmware versions whenever in have an incoming call my screen doesn't wake up to show my who is calling me, unless I press the power button or the fingerprint sensor. If the call is missed my screen wakes up normally to show me the missed call notification. Any solution?? I have no fingerprint lock or pass code lock. Just swipe.

All issues Android 10 update xz2 compact

I think it would be useful to have a collection of all bugs of the android 10 update. From my point of view it is a disaster.
I noticed the following (after I factory reset it) :
Touch issues - touching the screen lightly does nothing. I have the actually tap it... This makes writing a pain, as hard to reach keys do not always register
Backlight auto adjustment issues - now it's very aggressive and basically stupid. I'm sitting in home, in the evening, almost without moving, definetly in the same spot and the backlight just jumps around in big increments
Lag and shutter in daily usage - a restart solves this for a couple of hours...
apps are now often reloaded - memory manager is too agresive and kills background apps
GPS NOT WORKING. It was flawless before update ?
build-in swiftKey keyboard does NOT remember how and where you type IF you change the keyboard layout /position (compact, split, side, etc...). This essentially makes it useless
A factory reset is not enough , try software repair using Sony companion
Im not having touch or GPS issues, but my phone is definitely slower and laggier since the upgrade to android 10. ALso my battery seems to be depleting faster. Is there any way to roll back to 9?

Wifi is often lost and quickly reconnects
fingerprint sensor isn´t as sensitive as it was before
battery drain is bigger than before
bluetooth pairing with tablet doesn´t work properly...being paired: YES, but no connection at all...tried three different tablets...bluetooth headphones work!
The camera application is crashing when I take photos.... :crying:
I really haven't faced any of those issues. The fingerprint is the only things that have become laggy, the phone is louder now when playing music, camera works great even with unlocked bootloader.
You should try to do a clean install with newflasher my phone is even rooted and works great.

Scratch that... I am experiencing all the issues from OP's post. It is especially severe when trying to use two apps at the same time in split screen.
Sony mobile engineers answer my bug report
Android Beam doesn't work (transferring files by touching two phones with NFC).
Nothing works on this phone any more!
I will never buy another Sony phone and surely I will advice others against buying such sh*t.
------------------
I contacted the Sony support in my country and they said "the download must have been corrupt" and I "should try to reinstall" via the Xperia companion (some kind of desktop app).
Mind boggling is the fact that this answer comes "directly from Sony engineers".
Now... I guess it is clear for everyone why they f*ucked this phone so bad. Their engineers think that a corrupt file can 1) be installed successfully 2) cause all these bugs...

If the corect procedure is to use that "companion", WHY they pushed the update via OTA?

The only brand who has this crappy issue is Sony ! Companion fills all the missing files or damaged files .. during the ota download and installation sometimes things go wrong
For everyone reading this thread: there is no such thing as instalation with corrupt or missing files.
All files in today's IT world are uniquely identified and double checked after download.
Their answear is only a way of not telling us that they f*cked up this + they think that we are stupid. Some of us might be fooled by this, but surely the majority won't be.
We have primarily the camera issue, a reboot resolves it temporarily.
Anyone managed to fix these issues with a fresh Sony companion install?
52.1.A.0.618 here. Fingerprint is slower and the battery drains faster while screen on. (Standby and deep sleep are both ok). Everything else is the same as Pie, at least for me.
Add me to list of unhappy xz2 compact owners. Phone is almost unusable since the update. More often than not the finger scanner only works when you press the power button first, it lags awfully in most apps, I get errors in apps I never did before, battery drain is about the same as previous. Overall this is my last Sony. Very very poor. Should add I did full companion restore and it made zero difference
I have to add my voice to this thread, short as it happily/sadly is. Since the update I've experienced a number of issues: Fingerprint scanner is less sensitive and sometimes doesn't work, the wake-up procedure is strange, in that the icons will appear before the background loads and even though I have security set to not show notification details on the lock screen, they'll reveal for a split second before waking up to the home screen, the camera is unreliable, the timer app doesn't reset or dismiss when appearing on the notification bar..
It's the first time I've ever emailed Sony Support on what was (and I hope still will be) my favourite ever phone. They of course just tell me to factory reset. Such a shame and I hope they fix it.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure what is wrong. I have not factory restored my phone. That is ridiculous
I also add the bug of Google Assistant in Stamina Mode:
I always keep It disabled when long press home button, but when Stamina Mode turns on, Google Assistant switches on again automatically although in settings shows that is off.
wow its been 2 years since I bought the XZ2C, had issues with the wifi and data so I went back to android 8.0, and use it for O2 priority only. Came back to see if android 10 fixed the problems. Disappointing.
I am not surprised at all that Sony still hasn't fixed any of the issues.
With today's New Update the the voicemail-Record-Volume Bug is fixed.
Finally. Too good to bei true.

I will constantly update this thread.
First of all, I changed my logic in which I do this updates. Last month I had my one and only random system reboot so I tried to give it a little thought on how I should update this system, and so far I had no problem with it: You see, Android 10 had quite a lot of bad, unresolved updates, especially for those who manage to have a "successful" day one update (this translates to those who didn't have a bricked device) so now, when an update comes, it just tried to patch the old broken version, with mixed results, and not completely over write it. Remember back in A9 age? When you'd miss an montly update, the next month your update size would be >1gb? That means the 2 version old android version wouldn't be compatible with the new build so it did a complete rewrite of the partition? This never happened on A10 since launch, so here's what I did, after that system crash I downloaded the 10.0.7 and flashed it twice (by rewriting twice it means this, flash, reboot, boot into system, shut down, recovery, flash again, reboot, boot into system) through recovery, thus rewriting both A and B partitions with a known "good" (it still has bugs, but it doesn't carry the day 1 or day 2 major bugs) firmware flash. Now the same happened with the new update the 11.0.9, copied to SD, flashed through recovery and here is my review.
The bug in which the 5G icon in the wi-fi menu wouldn't hold if connected to the network and turned into a 4G wi-fi network still stands. This is only a visual bug, since the 5G network is doing just fine.
Tested the camera extensively and now it has a more aggressive focus and it's sharp again, image size is now large, like before, quality is improved in daylight, but the low light still could use some improvement.
The "useless" cards in Settings menu are still there (I personally only have the Customize your pixel one).
There is now a smoother feedback in the haptic feedback, so sometimes it seems like it's not working, but it's me not feeling it.
The 4G speeds still seem to be low, but again, like I said last time it could be a problem from my network provider, so I can't be 100% sure.
The internal storage speeds seem more and more slow on the other hand, I can't get transfers over 30mb/s on the internal storage, weird, because on .7 I could go over 100mb/s without a problem.
The RAM management is weird, after flashing the phone "my way", I can open ALL of the phone's apps and they'd stay up and running in the RAM until the phone starts going so sluggish that's almost a burden to use. It doesn't selectively remove apps from ram until closed from the recent menu. It isn't a problem for 5-10 apps open at once, but it starts getting weird after 30-40. Also the background apps are killed after a specific time, not by RAM usage which is counter intuitive... damn.
The MTP - SD card is still faulty. Refuses to display contents of large folders unless plugged out and plugged back in again. At least it's not crashing transfers right now.
The Media scanner is still faulty, after copying data to SD card they won't display in the specific apps (Google Photos, Google Music) but if manually searched (for example in my case Hiby Music) they're there and they can be used. Only reboot fixes this problem.
Direct Share is still not working.
This is all I had to say about the new .9 update, the rest of the more extensive things I covered can be found in the 11.0.7 thread, and it wasn't productive to write them here again, since the experience didn't change.
Battery seems a little worse than 11.0.7 but that was just the first day of testing, so it's irrelevant for most real world situations.
Other than the new method of installing and the few problems that seems odd to me, I can't report anything else after 1 day of usage. It's more usable, but it still have it's quirks... at least they didn't break anything else this time.
Yup.. Day two ram managent is getting as you described.. Still the device seems working better..
Update: generally better but still ram gets full after a couple of days. Still needs to reboot to fix the issue and clean the memory.
I think it's unbelievable that 4gb of ram are not enough to run this system.. There must be some bad development.
Not seeing "Some app services stucks on Restart state".
I can confirm you that the app you have mentioned in 9 are causing the device to slow because if you restart the app and then force stop them via hibernator Pro your phone who don't feel slow until they start again
I'm still having memory issues on my 4GB RAM model. Chrome tabs usually reload when switching back from another app even if I only have 1 tab open. The Google feed on the left of the main screen also reloads constantly. Those things didn't happen on android 9, I was able to seemingly switch between apps.

Same. I cant even download Call Of Duty: Mobile if i wont stay on Google Play Store app. Play Store downloads it %99 and if i switch to another app LMK kills the download process and then i am switching back to Play Store app it starts downloading from %0.

Lspeed fixes it
I had issues when multitasking Youtube and Opera/Chrome. It lagged until starting to freeze the browser, requiring me to press home and go back to browser. In some ocasions, the device restarted, maybe when ram got full or somehow corrupted.
After months in this situation, I gave up the once beloved Android One for the MIUI port HybridOS. After flashing this rom my device is completely different, more responsive, much less laggy, battery charges much more faster, and drains a lot less. The difference is like water turned into wine. Not to mention better camera quality (much better!), and the ability to record internal audio from everything (thanks to MIUI). I'm happy with my device again.
Sir waiting for 11.0.10.0 review

Hi
Are you still on that version ?
How has it been I'm tempted as my phone's so slow now I'm still on stock.
Do the banking apps work ok as that's my main worry for changing as I need them.
Do you have a link for your version I can't seem to find it.
Thanks

Hi, I felt my device was slowly becoming unstable, and some bugs from the original MIUI device began to bother me a little, e.g. "Do Not Disturb" mode don't block message sounds from favorite contacts, I wanted only call sounds, as in Android One. My wife still uses the Hybrid OS (same phone as ours) and she likes it a lot because of the camera quality and the cool interface. Banking apps work fine in HybridOS.
I decided to downgrade my A2 Lite to the original Oreo Android One (8.1), and I think battery lasts more then Hybrid OS, and the phone is even more smoother and stable. Some tradeoffs are the (very bad) camera, no dark theme, no radio, and some other minor features, but the phone is almost like when I bought it back in 2018. Now I remember how great this phone was/is.
If you really wish, I can try to upload the Hybrid OS somewhere.

It's here Android 11

Currently downloading on Tmoble

Finally! I'm downloading as well, T-Mobile
Got mine to...
Downloading it now.
Honestly the most disappointing os upgrade ive ever seen. Reminds me why i dont use an lg as a daily driver any more.
If nothing else, the new Android 11 upgrade does enable Stand-Alone 5G (per the T-Mobile website). That, in itself, is probably worth the upgrade!

Unfortunately, w/the V60, 5G SA was not enabled in the software on Android 10 - even with the R15 SIM. Glad I'm now able to share the true 5G experience you've been enjoying!

Hmm, i had even confirmed it with several signal apps that it was SA, and even had SA speeds. I moved on to oneplus now and just use my v60 for media casting.

No upgrade here in Europe for Sim free.
It is available for AT&T as well. I had to manually check for updates, then it started downloading. It didn't tell me how large the update was or any changes, so I had no idea if it was the Android 11 update or a security update until it finished the update.
I've ran the update and can confirm it is Android 11.
A few things I've immediately noticed based off of MY experiences on Android 10,
The performance was laggy on first boot (expected after a software upgrade), but has since smoothed out and seems overall faster than Android 10, but that could just be due to the improved gesture navigation; more on that below.
The gesture navigation controls are much more reliable, animations are smoother, and functionality less glitchy.
This improvement is very noticeable when quick switching apps by swiping left/right on the gesture bar:
Sometimes it would skip 2 apps back and jump forward to the correct (previous) app
Animate to the previous app but snap back to the current app
Simply not register the gesture at all
I haven't experienced any of these again yet.
The recent apps screen scrolls MUCH smoother as well.
Speaking of gesture controls, it now "floats" above the rest of the apps similar to iOS instead of having it's own dedicated nav bar and the gesture "pill" itself (not really a pill on this phone lol) is slightly bigger. You can see the difference in my first 2 screenshots
EDIT: The gesture pill still has it's own bar at the bottom, but it appears that its background is able to color match with the opened app (similar to the notification bar) which makes it look like it's sitting on top of the opened app.
The notification shade has a UI update. Looks better IMO.
If you use the stock LG launcher, the swipe down search tool loads faster, but there's still a noticeable delay before you can type anything
You can also change the "accent" color. My accent color is blue in my first screenshot, but it changed to green after the 11 update. You can change the color in the settings.
Taking screenshots is instant. No more holding down the key combo for a second.
There's emoji updates
There is a minor update to the blank contact image (see previous screenshot).
I saw some changelogs online that mentioned some camera app UI updates...it doesn't look any different to me??
And of course the FB Messenger style chat bubbles are now supported for other apps including the stock LG Messaging app.
Andoird 11 update has been horrible. Battery that prior to update lasted all day, now lasts 5-6 hours, phone runs hot, and WiFi AND 5G symbols are BOTH always on.
This might be the end of the line for me with LG.
Any news about the Canadian version?
I'm on AT&T and updated to Android 11 earlier this week. It resulted in a black screen soft-brick. I could still see the touches (from dev mode) where fingers tapped the screen. And if I held down the Power button, I'd see the typical Power Down / Restart / Etc. options, and tapping on them would generate the appropriate responses. But in all other instances, it was just a black screen. I figured my HEAVY de-bloating of Android 10 when I first got the phone caused something to break.
So I went ahead and did a full factory restore using recovery/safe mode and set it up as a new phone, and haven't had any serious issues since. I went ahead and got almost everything (minus Fluid Navigation Gestures, RIP) working the way I wanted, and embarked on another HEAVY de-bloating process. Seems like I took things too far, because, upon my next reboot, I was in the exact same black screen soft-brick state I mentioned above.
Another factory reset. Another session of restoring my apps, launcher, settings, and customizations. This time, I just used Package Disabler Pro for LG from the Google Play Store to perform some more restrained bloatware disabling, and everything's been pretty great. For Android 10 and the first attempt at de-bloating Android 11, I was using ADB commands to "uninstall" dozens upon dozens of system apps. Battery life is not quite as good as it was with my heavily de-bloated Android 10 environment, but I didn't expect it to be, and I'm not going to risk messing this all up again.
My only complaint is that stock AOD (and Sidelight Notifications) don't seem to be working properly, no matter how I configure them in Settings. I'm not sure what's causing the issue, but I actually developed this problem just a few days BEFORE the AT&T OTA landed, and it's persisted through a full Android point upgrade and two factory resets, so I imagine there's a conflict somewhere. Maybe with Fluid Simulation - Trippy Stress Reliever (my live wallpaper app of choice), Energy Bar, or Nova Launcher. I haven't been able to pinpoint it yet, but since it predates the Android 11 OTA by a few days, there must be another cause.
I do miss Fluid Navigation Gestures, but I'm happy to report that the new Android 11 gestures are way better than Android 10's. Not quite as customized as I had FNG, but I've adapted. Until/unless someone figures out how to hide the navigation bar without root, LG's gestures it is, I guess.
First thing I noticed was that I can now set a minimum brightness from the navigation bar .... This is a huge improvement as before the brightness would go to zero in a dark room... Now I can choose how low I want it to go and still automatically increase when needed ..
Finally SIM free in Europe got the Android 11 update.

There is a thread on reddit saying that this is the result of fingerprint locking. Try with pin unlock instead and see if battery life improves.
