Hi guys! I hope you're all doing well!
I want to create a project and just found a free tablet that I can use. It's an Allwinner A33-based cheap chinese tablet, branded as "Estar Gemini IPS MID 8128". It currently runs on Android 5 but I'm looking for a way to upgrade it (mostly to learn in the process). Has anyone heard of this tablet? I am a newbie and don't know what to do but maybe I need to make a custom ROM based on a higher Android version. Can anybody help me? I can dump the stock ROM if needed....
Thanks!

hi all
so i have this tablet, a get as gift. This is device based on Android 4.0. Looks OK, but work so slow... i think this is firmware problem, and the best option is install pure android, whithout any special app, but i cant find some alternative firmware... so maybe any chance to use some good tools for optimising current firmware ? i have image of firmware so maybe i can use some tools to customizing this and make "lighter" ??
thanks for any help
Hi,
I bought this phone and I am looking for a good rom (I would like to use kernel apolo)
is it possible?
what about my hardware? is it based on a common platform?
thx
EDIT:
sw_version: p5_quad_0210_v5075
hw_version: p5_quad_mainboard_p2
Hi all,
I've never installed android on a mobile device & I'm not sure if I can use any flavor of Android available
or if it's advisable.
Google's dev site, has Nexus 7 4.1.1 kernels available for download. I don't know if I should install it for
my generic tablet. I'm a bit hesitant in installing, even though it's what's installed, because this device
is my baseline for testing a game that I'm developing for low-end hardware.
My problem is that the company pushed updates that BRICKED my tablet.
If anyone has thoughts or can help me I would really appreciate it.
The company's support is atrocious! This will be the 2nd time I'd have to send a device back to them for
an RMA...once is enough.
Specs if it helps: 1GHz dual core Cortex-A9, Mali-400 MP GPU, 1Gb RAM
Thanks in advance...
Have you fixed it, I have the same problem, I need the original rom to flash. At Machspeed they simply won't do it. If you happen to have yours working I heard that there is a way to extract and zip the rom for future flash in case you need it.
Hello everyone.
I am not satisfied with the stock 5.1 rom of my alcatel popstar, so i would like to ask you a question.
Is there any possibility for rooting and flashing firmware to this smartphone?
Thanks in advance.
+1
that's true
i agree
Hi, I have a model 5022E, I ported some roms for this device (CM12, ZenfoneGo; Bluboo Xfire2, Samsung Clone, etc) all firmwares are lollipop, I don´t upgrade to MM cause there´s no sources about kernel for this device in the web but anyway there are better that stock ugly experience, if someone is interested I need to someone tell me what´s difference between both models, I think that they aren´t so much differents, I´ll download rom stock from here https://www.needrom.com/download/alcatel-ot-5022d-pop-star-2/# if someone confirm it´s correct rom, version AE
Hello, I have this tablet, which is practically useless atm:
Brand: Allview (Romanian)
Device name: ALLVIEW AX2 FRENZY
Model name: AllviewAX2Frenzy
Year: 2013
Running stock Android: 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
Can I reflash it with custom ROM to make it run android 6+?
If such ROMs exist, where can I find them and how do I flash them?
Does anybody have any experience and guidance about this tablet?
Thank you very much.

Well, there isn't a custom rom. You have got two options: either sell it as is or tinker around with adb and perhaps root. A third option is somewhat expensive : paying a developer to make a custom rom for your tablet.

Hello, and thank you.
If those are my options, I am throwing it away.
Root is not needed, Android 6+ was.
If there is not a custom rom existing, it's too old of a tablet to bother.

Such tablet is still OK for book reading, watching movies and light browsing. And if use some adb debloat utility, you could expect decent performance and battery life.
