Hello xda users/experts, one quick question:
I noticed after upgrading to ICS, the new Voice Search 3.0.1 app doesn't show up in the app drawer anymore, which is a problem since I use headphone commands to make calls (through JAYs Headphone Button app), and the app only recognizes and activates other apps that show up in the app drawer.
What I need to know is, is there a way to get Voice Search 3 to show up in the app drawer? Do I need to modify its .apk? And if so, how should I go about doing that?
Full disclosure, for people that are suffering the same fate, I have found a temporary solution by uninstalling voice search with titanium, and installing voice search 2.X from the market. I would much rather have a more elegant solution though .
if any one tried an anti theft app and works good with him at ics please tell us about it
cause i tried androidlost and it is a great app but it cant open gps nor wifi and sms actions doesnt work !! and it cant track my tab and tried avast and it is less functional so i need an app that i can completely control the tab remotly by internet or by sms !!! and i tried some other apps but no big deal
im using aokp build 40
btw i want a free app cause i cant buy any apps since im in egypt and these service isnt allowed here
is there any possible way to open gps remotly by any app ? or even the app use mobile data to get my location cause it is a must for me
Hello, not quite sure if this will help, but you could leave this app running.
Google Latitude location-sharing app.
Might not be secure, but you can look it up and decide for your self, came with my tab pre-installed.
Search in Google Play....
I had once seen an app which runs on sms things...If u send one sms to the phone you have lost then the alarm gets activated....You can do much more with that....Don't remember which one it was but the reviews were good
already i have an app called androidlost ... awesome app but there are 2 essential feature didnt work for me " enabling gps and wifi - some sms commands " so i want any one running aokp build 40 to try the app it is free and tel me what happend
There are actually plenty of such apps available in the market but the good ones will cost money. Just look up for phone locator. I have phone locator pro and that works like a charm.

gt-p5113 ... need voice enabled? want to use the ring central app.... the tablet is rooted (first ever) with cf auto root espresso... and philz touch... have 4.1.1... play store say device not compatiple because its not voice enabled...... but it has speakers and mic.... but its not a phone... i will only we using it on wifi, so what do i care if its not 3g or voice enabled...
well my question: anyone know how to make it work, or get it "voice enable", maybe a specific rom, or some download?
thanks,
anthony
Google Voice? What app exactly do you need that you can't get?

already mentioned - ring central app.... Google voice is not doing it... its not to make calls on its own. but through the RC app.... google play and/or ring central app is not detecting my tablet as a voice enabled device... ring central is a voip service and offers phsical devices, softphone app (PC), and an app for smartphones. I want to use my tablet that I purchased exclusively for store backend use.
need to trick software into think its voice enabled (asuming that the app needs to be on a device that supports normal voice features (like an actual cell phone) or like a tablet connected to cell network)
sorry for late reply, while this is a priority, it is one of many -_-.. thanks everyone
bump?
I moved from Galaxy A50 to One Plus, and am missing the phone app that had call recorder bundled into it. Does any ROM here have Phone app with such a feature? If it is there, can you please upload the Phone APK. I mean even if anyone publishes the default app apks, that too is fine. Thanks in advance.
Anyone here use Phone app by Google instead of Samsung's Phone app?

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at as there isn't much information in your question, but I will try to help where I can.
If I assume you simply want to REPLACE the default phone dialer, I have a Samsung where I NEVER use the default Google apps and it works just fine WITHOUT those Google apps (I've disabled most of them).
As for the phone app, it gets confusing what people "mean" as things changed since Android 10 in terms of separation of the parts that people often mix together.
Specifically, in later Androids, AFAIK, there is a "Dialer" and a separate "Contacts" app (yet which often are combined) and there is even the concept that the "SMS/MMS" messaging app also can often dial out and use the contacts - but there is no longer a default "Dialer" as of Android 10 (AFAIK).
Me?
I don't keep a contacts file (for privacy reasons) in the default sqlite location (because Google/Facebook/Microsoft/etc. motherships upload that database, that's why!) so I use only {dialer,contacts,sms/mms} apps which can work both with and WITHOUT a default contacts sqlite database).
Note that Simple Mobile Tools has a lot of related privacy-aware free useful apps which don't necessarily need the default sqlite contacts database, which is a boon to your privacy (if you care about such things).
Here is a screenshot of what I use in my dock for phone apps on my Samsung, none of which are the default apps by Samsung or Google.
Thank you for your reply. I am actually looking for a way to record phone calls on phone. Phone by Google is the app I was referring to, as you may know it has a call recorder and I was wondering if anyone were able to enable it on their A32 5G.
There's a lot of information about call recording for this phone in this Galaxy A32 5G thread over here...
Anyone know a working call recorder app for this phone?
There's also a generic thread about call recording issues after May 11th when Google made their most recent changes over here...
Is there any way to get 3rd-party call recording (ACR) apps working after tomorrow, May 11th, 2022?
If you're rooted, you probably have more options though.
