Update PRL and Update User Profile Missing Android 11 - Samsung Galaxy A71 5G Questions & Answers

My A71 5G Model SM-A716U1 recently updated to:
Android 11
Build: RP1A.200720.012.A716U1UEU2CUB4
this last March and now the Update PRL and Update User Profile is missing from Software Update where it has always been. I've been digging around in all the menus and also find others have mentioned this matter.. Is there a fix for my device? Perhaps a bypass for the missing items?? Secret code or something? This has been such a great phone. HELLLLLLLP!!! * chuckles *
TIA & Namaste...

Those settings are missing on my S10 running Android 11 with OneUI 3.1 too.
I guess that prl and profile will be updated automatically by the service/network provider.

its just some bug fix's for android internal settings and some increment in battery performance and stability issues like camera shutter speed is increased . i recommend use greenify to increase the battery performance (it will force close some apps you dont need to run in the background).

I received it: time to create a new dump of my stock rom
Guys, you need to learn how to traffic sniff and find the URL of the OTA, *OR* find where it is downloaded to, pull the file and share it. Unless you do this, sharing this information is useless, and could be seen as rubbing people's faces in it.
Thanks, hope you understand.
NPP25.137-73 I believe is only for the Amazon version of Moto G5.
How did I come to this conclusion?
I installed a custom rom LineageOS 14.1 and Resurrection Remix on both roms I was unable to make calls with Reliance JIO.
Additionally when I went to look for updates I was unable to find any updates on the phone.
After a lot of research I was finally able to find a website that listed the Amazon version of the firmware.
Once I installed the Amazon version of the firmware everything went back to normal and I was able to make calls using Reliance JIO and when I went to check for system updates NPP25.137-73 showed.
Below is the link to website that lists all the stock firmware for the Moto G5

Do you have a link with that Amazon version? If by some reason you don't want to share that link, could you please upload the firmware zip somewhere to share? Say google drive. If it takes too much space just share it for a while so I can download and reshare it myself.

Me too, still March 2017 (NPP25.137-72).
Which build number got they?
I've got an Update.
Build-Number is now: NPPS25.137-72-4
Android Security Date: 1.August 2017
Software-Channel: reteu
img1.picload.org/image/dgidpopl/screenshot_20171010-233923.png
Amazon ads returned after update. Any idea how to remove them this time? Old method running command prompt for com.amazon.phoenix isn't working.
Identical in Poland

No possible Mise à jour ..
Hi. Maybe someone can clear up a few questions for me. I have a G5, still on NPP25.137-15. Software Channel retgb. It is the XT1675 model.
Does anyone know if there is a more up-to-date Security Update for this phone?
There has been some chat on the Lenovo forum of the "retgb" stuff being ignored. Can anyone confirm this? If there are updates available how can I download them.
And does anyone know if changing to the "reteu" channel (if this is possible) speeds up availability of updates?
Thanks.

Downgrade from Pie

I updated to Pie and I hate it. I want to go back to the latest updated version of Oreo just before the Pie upgrade. I'm with Telstra in Australia and can only find the Oreo version form Telstra from September 2017. Is it possible to install that version and apply updates right up just before Pie?
Are you concerned that factory images that do not list a specific carrier or region are not suitable for installation on a Telestra device? For example, 8.1.0 (OPM2.171026.006.G1, Jul 2018) does not call out a region or carrier. The initial Pixel 2 factory image and several later images do not list a carrier or region.
Perhaps you can back up your current install, try the November 2018, and see you like it better. If not, attempt to downgrade to 8.1.0 (OPM2.171026.006.G1, Jul 2018). If the downgrade fails, reinstall your 9.0 backup.
For what it's worth, I have not done this and recommend searching the forum for people who have tried to downgrade: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/help/to-downgrade-android-9-0-t3850398
Hope this helps somewhat.

Pie was released in October. The September update would be the most recent image for Oreo. You can install it but if you do, you won't be able to update your phone again. All future updates will be Pie. What I'm saying is you won't be able to install future updates without installing the Pie update first. There is no more Oreo after September.
Yeah I'm not interested in upgrading any further than the last Oreo version. So many features of pie are just not to my liking. I can't back up my current install because I haven't unlocked my bootloader or rooted yet. Mainly because Oreo was so good there was no real reason for me to bother. Now I'm forced to, to get rid of this terrible version of android.

What I think @robocuff means is that you will not receive any security patches going forward. All subsequent patches will be for Pie only.

Yeah I understand that. That's why I wanted to get the latest Oreo before pie so I was as up to date as possible. I don't care about updating any further. I just want a decent ROM, which in my opinion, Pie is far from.
Thanks for the input guys.

Has Mate 9 reached dead end?

Last update was released since 29 July, does this mean Huawei dumped the phone development?
It is real unfortunate to know because the phone is really a beast and working flawlessly till 9.1...
Shall we say R.I.P. Mate 9 Dev.?

yes, dev for mate9 is dead
I was able to update to 9.0 and the phone is so smooth still. I'm not sure what to get next. I like the screen size and shape and the other phones that are over 6" have a thin screen so video is actually smaller. Oh well...

Is that the single file that shows up on FF as of 7/29/2019? MHA-LGP2-OVS 9.1.0.252. Do you have the name of the file or files?

It was received by OTA:
MHA-L29 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8)
as on screenshot
Frankly, I don't see that one on FF (MHA-L29C432)
I have c432 but I'm in the USA so maybe I won't get it unless I have a euro sim card? When I used FF it starts to walk me through downloading the file but changing the routers mac or something maybe to trick the phone into thinking it's in Europe...
Hi guys
I hope i am posting in the correct place but i have the single sim version of the mate 9 and would like to rebrand it to the dual sim version, i am based in south africa.I checked some youtube videos on how to do it but i need to have the bootloader unlock code, apparently huawei has stopped users from obtaining the code, is there any other way of obtaining the code or is there any other way of rebranding to MHA - L29 which has the dual sim option.

The way and the price to obtain BL code, but also the way how to rebrand HEAVILY depend on what is your current EMUI version.
(,If you don't care about that and just follow some YT guide, you can brick the phone)
So, what is exactly
- EMUI version in Settings/System/About
- also from Settings/System/About, what is the month and year of the Security patch
See the attach

Unfortunately, you are not on Nougat or Oreo 6/2018 or older to make things cheaper and easier
See this answer (yesterday, last in the thread):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...e-firmware-versions-gpu-t3917826/post80486637
If you go with their Telegram group service (cca 30 EU), you should ask them to rebrand - IMO, they will do it (they have to flash some firmware upon erasing by Testpoints, anyway).
They flash remotely, you have to provide TeamViewer connection
If you go for your own (also by Testpoints) you will have to use (VM and) Linux, you will have to find (maybe pay for some) drivers and board firmware.
Shortly: you would have to downgrade to eg Nougat as described there, then to buy BL code for 4 EU from DC Phoenix, then to rebrand (there is an older thread here on XDA about rebranding Mate 9 with Nougat or Oreo Sec Patch 6/2018 or older), and finally to upgrade back to Pie
If you search for Ministry of Solutions, they can do the same/similar thing for you (requiring also to open the phone and use Testpoints, and TeamViewer) but they will ask more, about 45 EU
You could also search and explore Chimera and FunkyHuawei services, but AFAIK, they will cost even more.
With Chimera, you would not even have Bootloader code at the end to reuse, if ever needed

Firmware finder is showing 9.1.0.260 and 261 (October security patches) for me but not approved so far.

Btw, I was wondering how did you capture a notification on your screenshot but I see now, by a knuckle (Smart screenshot) ?
Got that update two weeks ago, no idea what it did.

Poc expolit yet?

Just wondering, (I know a long shot) if anyone happen to find an exploit for root shell yet? Maybe even a poc exploit? Magisk able preferably. Yes root with bootloader locked. Been done on other phones, Xperia, lg v20 etc. Garbage how we are locked down. Even a full root with bootloader v6 (forced current) would be even better. I have only seen for v1. Tmobile snapdragon usa btw.
theres a new exploit 'dirtycred'! theres some good info here on it and WORKING ANDROID CODE (unreleased for now):
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1544379506659663872
it appears like older kernels wont work with the exploit according to one of the devs.
I'm thinking to update my a71 5g phone with the latest one UI 4.1 update, but unsure of the kernel version included??
Can anyone please post what kernel versions come in the a71 5g updates? or, link me where i can find this? in all the update documentation, i dont see any kernel version info
also, i see there IS a "dirty pipe" (not dirtycred) exploit fix in the latest updates. i am unsure if this will also fix dirtycred or not, though i dont think it will

I tried looking into dirtypipe but couldn't find much. Also wasn't sure if it would work for this A71 5g (Snapdragon). I personally haven't updated in a while so I am currently on kernel 4.19 UI 3.1 (date ASPL 11/1/21). This seems interesting non the less. Wonder what all is needed/how to do other then video. In case you are trying to find your version, it's under settings-then about phone-then software information.
So I just check another A71 5g Snapdragon that's has newest update and it's still 4.19

so you have a different a71 that is the most up to date on android 12? and android 12 still uses 4.19? ugh
you would think they would've included a kernel update in the OS updates from android 11 -> 12
guess not
Yeah, I checked my gf's cause hers forced updates to current, mine I paused an update awhile ago so it's locked until I unpause it. Phones now adays are just insane with lockdown. You would think it would have updated kernel as well, but maybe something for 4.19 will show...hopefully.

I wonder if any of these may be possible. 2021 I did see 4.19 ... https://github.com/bcoles/kernel-exploits
So the 2019 might be better for 4.19... https://github.com/bcoles/kernel-exploits/blob/master/CVE-2019-13272/poc.c
