It's not a typical "where I can find the update menu/option?". It's just gone.
I go to Settings - > System and "Update software" it's not there. Don't know why or when this happened, it was there.
Screenshot it's been attached (in spanish) so you can see what I'm talking about.
Hope you can help me, thanks!

Hello XDA...
I have been a long leeching in this forums and this site really is helpful. but recently I stumbled upon a problem that I cannot solve myself. I badly need help so please... I need any idea to solve my prob... I would really appreciate any reply...
I have a 7" china brand tab named KATA Minitab7. I successfully rooted it (thanks to XDA) but did not installed a custom ROM. so It runs in stock ROM. It just happened that the "Google Services Framework" always force closes every time I connect to any WiFi spot and I can't download anything from the Play Store. I tried to Uninstall the "Google Services Framework" but I cant find a way to install it again (c'mon, laugh i know that was stupid) Then finding nothing much to do to resolve this, I factory reseted the device. and the bigger problem started.
After the factory reset, the device did not install a launcher.. when I turn it on, it loads, then the locker screen, with the status bar at the bottom.. when I unlock it, it's only the status bar and a black screen. The "settings" is still available from the status bar and when I go to settings->applications it detects nothing.. no running, no downloaded, nothing on sdcard.
Is there a way to install a launcher by connecting the device to a PC? or is there a bigger problem other than the device not having a launcher?
I am no expert in these fields but I can easily understand any instructions even if it is a little "geeky" (can't think of a better term) since I have a little background on programming. just please use human language ^_^
I would really really appreciate all the knowledge that I would learn from your replies... thanks to all...
(Hoping that it's not yet BRICKED T_T )

It certainly isn't 'Bricked' - but you are going to need to install either a Custom ROM or an original Stock ROM as it sounds like you have well and truly screwed the ROM on there. I suspect that the lack of a launcher is merely a symptom of your device's deeper problems.

In a very humane language, do the following:
1. open your cmd/terminal
2. Navigate to the folder where you put your adb(Example: cd c:\fastboot) , assuming that the adb file is put at a folder called fastboot at c drive.
3. Download a launcher(google it yourself, I don't know what launcher that you want) and put it at the folder where you put your adb
4. Type the following: "adb install <launcher_name>.<extension>". Usually it is like this: "nova_launcher.apk", "nova_launcher" is the filename while "apk" is the extension
5. Install it at your android phone.
6. Done :victory:
On a side note, is your internal storage empty(can be checked at settings -> storage)?
Hello, I am a nubee to this forum and the Asus TF700T that I own. I selected the wrong firmware update(WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx now pending an install on my system tray) needed US_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx. Can anyone tell me how to eliminate the pending update. Thanks ... Tony
What do mean you selected the wrong firmware? Is this something you did for an ota update?
Sorry can you give more details please.

Yes, I went to the Asus site using my TF700. After I entered Android for the OS prompt, I selected download firmware. There were 10 files. Next - the screen wouldn't display the full list of available selection on my Tablets screen. I tried to move away with a swipe and the first selection(WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx), the only selection displayed, began to download. Other than shutting off the WiFi I couldn't stop the download and it now sits in the system tray of my tablet waiting for me to installed it. From what I can tell the firmware update I should have selected was US_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx. So, it is my thought that if I allow WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx to install I may render the Tablet unusable. If screen shots help I am sure I can get them to you provided that I have effectively explained the situation. Since I am a newb I can't enter the Asus URL for your convenience. But, Thanks for the reply. I can use the help. Regards Tony (T-Con)

Go to the file manager or the downloads app and delete the downloaded file from sdcard/download. Then redownload the correct one. The notification is not a prompt to install but notification of a downloaded file.

One other thing to say. The exact info. on the screen says in bold "Asus System Firmware Update Service" then in smaller words "New system firmware available, press upgrade."
Thanks for the response. Tony(T-Con)

So, I select file manager. It takes me to > Internal Storage and shows a small folder icon with back arrow / sdcard /
I tap the back arrow folder and slide/scroll down to root folder.
Tap root folder and there is nothing there.
Thanks again. Tony(T-Con)

Ah it looks like you have downloaded the ota file manually. Not sure how to progress now. It's stored in the cache somewhere. Do a search on here about applying incremental ota updates manually and you will see some posts that instruct you how to reset the download.

K thanks! I have also put in a req. to Asus for help. If I don't find an exact instructional resolution on this issue I will call Asus for help. Thanks again and best regards. Tony (nubee T-Con)
first. you should have postet it to the Q&A.
Second: if you've downloaded the file from the asus site, it should be a zip file. which you would find by opening the app drawer, open "downloads" there the file will be, you can delete it.
then the message won't show up again.
then make sure every app is installed, that was installed when you buoght the pad.
tehn go to "about phone" update and check for updates, maybe try several times. then an update should appear, install it. repeat until you've the latest version
if that doesnt work, check out the summary in android general in this forum, and look for update ota without losing root, there you should find the ota packages and how to manually apply them

Hello Community!
This Forum are my last help

if this thread are in the wrong section, please move.
So i've a android 2.2.2 device (cisco cius) with the problem, that i can't ckeck "Allow installation of non-Market applications".
I have downloaded the newest firmware (2.2.2) and i tried to open it.
what i have found was the folder called "System".
this folder included app, bin, etc, fonts, framework, lib, ...
i searched for a file that included "AllowInstallationOfNonMarketApplications=0" or someting like that, to chance it to enable. but i found nothing...
is there a solution for my problem?
many thanks!

Feel free to move this thread or answer me whenever you can, but please help me!
I'll start telling you my specs. I've got a LG P760 Rooted and with Superluminal ROM by Antariksh (Thanks dude!)
The pictures taken with the system camera are stored in the internal SD slot, which is lacking more and more as I install apps.
I've been using Tasker for a while now yet I cannot figure out why I can't move files automatically with it.
I'm using this task:
> dir myfolder %dlfiles
> For %file Items %dlfiles() ----> syntax with %var() I found over the internet and never used before
> Move from %file to newdir
> End For
However, I get two types of error:
- if I select "Use root" nothing happens
- if I unselect "Use root" I get "Failed to rename olddirfile to newdirfile
I tried also taking away the % from %dlfiles() but still nothing to do.
SO, I decided to ask for you guys' help! Thanks a lot for every answer! :highfive:
Hi! I was on my way of unrooting my device and restoring official firmware. (Samsung S3 Mini GT-I8190) and I came across a problem. I was on the step of making my system status to offiial. I downloaded triangle away and did what the instruction told me to do. I downloaded triangle away 3.5, ticked the "allow tracker to run" option but the tick box for "system modified workaround" was not available as it was grayed out. Also I see that the "periodic system modified reset" was checked and available. Should I leave it ticked? I tried rebooting my device but to no use. what can i do to solve this? Any help would be appreciated. Attached here is the screenshot of the option in triangle away which was grayed out.

You should use S3 Mini Forum Here and search that particular forum, to find details about your problem as well as other solutions to solve it or it has its own dedicated Q&A thread too
