BUG: MX Player Android TV version - "Can't play this link" when trying to play anything from network share - MX Player

I am using MX player on my Mi TV stick for a while and I am vey satisfied - it is only player that is flawless in reproduction of anything - but now, for the first time I tried to play video files from my Windows shared folder and that does not work - whatever I try to play (AVI, MKV, MP4...), I am keep getting error "Can't play this link" (I roughly translated message form my native language because MX works on my hardware in my language which is not English ).
Same files plays well from local internal storage in MX Player and also from the same shared folder in VLC player - so it is not due to file formats or sharing folder content. But I can't use local internal storage due to lack of space and I don't want to use VLC for this playing from shared folders because I have tons of problems with audio delays in VLC while MX player plays everything perfect - except content from shared folders...
I am using latest version of MX Player for Android TV from Google playstore - 1.34.5 (ARMv7 NEON) - standard (non-pro) version that can be run on Android TV stick/box etc.
Can you please advise me what to do to fix this problem? Or this is a bug inside MX player? If it is, I hope it can be fixed because I really like this player and looking forward to use it on my shared content too...
Thanks in advance for help.

1,you can choose your language as you wish in option side.
2,please get into the "decode" options, check the "SW(local)" and "SW(netword)"(may be like this.), Then restart the MXPlayer, maybe you can play it. (that may be a bug, you can uncheck the options after the SMB plays well.)

gmote and video playback

Whenever I use gmote I can play back video on my pc, but not on my phone. The message I keep getting says "gmote is unable to find an android application to play this file type". Is this a limitation of gmote or do I need a media player with codecs for the phone? If I do need a media player what should I be using?
Thanks ahead of time
Test with .mp4 videos.
I am having the same issue on my Fascinate. Keep trying different conversions, but can't get any videos to play.

Best Android Video/Media Player? (Identical to Infuse for iOS?)

Hi,
Just got my S7 Edge in the post today
and coming from/abandoning IOS
i feel a little out in the blue
I have been using the Infuse Media app for ios for a long long time
and for me it feels like that app got everything.
what's important for me that i'm looking for is the following
- Play media from NAS/network storage.
- Subtitle support (online and saved subtitles locally).
- Download files/videos from network storage/NAS.
- Chromecast support (maybe AirPlay too)
- Swipe fastforwarding option.
dose anyone know any media app that is identical to the Infuse one i've been using with these functions?
it would be of great help for a new android/samsung user.
Kodi seems to be the most popular alternative for infuse. I haven't used it myself but worth giving it a shot.
Kodi or Plex will give you full media player capability. I just use File Manager HD to browse my NAS, and view thru MX player, which allows substtitles to be downloadsled. When playing thru a NAS, the filename received by MXplayer isnsome weird coded thing, so MX can't automatically locate subtitles, I just enter the name manually and it gets me the subs I need.
You should try the MX Player app. According to me this is the best video player for Android.
I have also migrated from ios recently and kodi is what you are looking for. It's the best on Android.

MX Player doesn't come up as option to stream podcast

I'm using Podcast Addict. I prefer MX Players ability to swype for timeline adjustment. In settings I say I don't want to use Podcast Addict player and then a list of apps comes up but doesn't include MX Player. It used to but not now. It may have something to do with reinstalling MX Player? The reason I uninstalled it was because I was having trouble streaming urls from Youtube. I read about a workaround, UC Browser, which allowed me to eventually open them on MX Player. It started behaving erratically so i reinstalled MX Player. After that I don't see an option to open Podcast Addict streams with MX Player. Thanks for any info.
No hints?

I don't know if it's relevant but my phone is a Oneplus one. Android 6.0.1. It uses Cyanogen OS version 13.1.2. I've been using Podcast Addict with MX Player for several years. Now when I select a podcast it asks do I want to use the internal player of the app or Opera or Google Music. All of the various podcasts show the same two options except one which offers Amazon Music Player , Google Music or Music Folder Player (another app I have for my mp3s). Why it doesn't show my other browsers as player options I can't figure out. I looked in settings/apps/mxplayer and am not able to figure out what I might change there to make it work.

I finally figured it out myself. In the settings of MX Player there is an option to use it as an audio player. It was unchecked on mine. When I checked it MX Player began to show up as an option for podcasts.

Nice to hear that you have figured out yourself. Audio Player must be enabled if you wan't MX Player to play audio files/streams.

Bug report: m4a audio files do not played easy way

Hello.
I had discovered a new issue in MX Player Pro versions 1.10.24-25:
now if an user clicks on an audio file with the popular .m4a file extension then MX Player Pro (v1.10.24 or 25) does not appear among a list of players, which supports this type of file.
Also .m4a file extension has disappear from the list of supported files in the settings menu of MX Player Pro.
So, now it becomes trouble to play .m4a files by easy way just by clicking on they.
Please, fix this new issue.

Have you recently cleared the MX Player data or reinstalled the app?
MX Player's audio player feature is disabled by default. So, it will not be listed until or unless you enable it manually from the Settings > Audio > Audio Player. Once it is enabled, it will be automatically shown on the list of supported apps.

Excuse me please. And thank you for answer and help!
I have a suggestion to make this option switched on by default for avoid further misunderstanding and easy show users that MX Player can plays more but not only videous.

MX Player is more focused on the video playback. Currently, Music files are listed together with video files. Moreover, it may miss some common functions available on the music players. So, it is very uncommon to use it as a music player. That's why we have kept this optional.

Chromecast is out for Mx player v1.12.3 ads supported but not for Mx player pro. Makes me wonder why did I paid for pro license.

Thanks for sharing your concerns.
To provide a more stable experience to pro users, we may release some new/experimental features on the free version first. However, we assure that they will be released to the pro version once it's stability is ensured.
Hopefully, MX Player Pro with chrome cast and native 64bit support will be released to beta users by early next week. Stay tuned with us for further updates
Can't cast SMB Networked media (NAS) - Playing stops dead and won't restart
I use "CX File Explorer" on my Note 8 to explore my shared networked drives. (NAS) When I tap on networked media in CX File Explorer it passes the file to MX Player Pro to open. The files play perfectly on the phone screen in MX Player as they should. However, if I then hit the cast button in MX Player the playing file stops dead.
I see open media information on the cast screen with the MX Player logo at bottom. If I go back to CX File Explorer and reopen more media in the networked folder the same "open media screen" stays on the cast screen. The phone screen flashes like it tried to open and then acts like nothing happened. Networked media will NEVER open or start. Happens on ALL networked media files once cast is enabled.
If I leave cast enabled in MX Player and then browse to local storage in CX File Explorer and open another copy of the SAME media file it will start playing perfectly on the cast screen as it is supposed to. The phone screen will also change to MX Player control as it is supposed to. Everything works properly as it should, providing the media is on LOCAL storage and NOT from a networked drive.
So strange that networked media works perfectly in MX Player when cast is OFF and not at all when cast is ON. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug? Proper casting has only just been added to MX Player. I love the cast feature. Can we get cast working with media files on shared network drives? (NAS)
