I'm using Podcast Addict. I prefer MX Players ability to swype for timeline adjustment. In settings I say I don't want to use Podcast Addict player and then a list of apps comes up but doesn't include MX Player. It used to but not now. It may have something to do with reinstalling MX Player? The reason I uninstalled it was because I was having trouble streaming urls from Youtube. I read about a workaround, UC Browser, which allowed me to eventually open them on MX Player. It started behaving erratically so i reinstalled MX Player. After that I don't see an option to open Podcast Addict streams with MX Player. Thanks for any info.
No hints?

I don't know if it's relevant but my phone is a Oneplus one. Android 6.0.1. It uses Cyanogen OS version 13.1.2. I've been using Podcast Addict with MX Player for several years. Now when I select a podcast it asks do I want to use the internal player of the app or Opera or Google Music. All of the various podcasts show the same two options except one which offers Amazon Music Player , Google Music or Music Folder Player (another app I have for my mp3s). Why it doesn't show my other browsers as player options I can't figure out. I looked in settings/apps/mxplayer and am not able to figure out what I might change there to make it work.

I finally figured it out myself. In the settings of MX Player there is an option to use it as an audio player. It was unchecked on mine. When I checked it MX Player began to show up as an option for podcasts.

Nice to hear that you have figured out yourself. Audio Player must be enabled if you wan't MX Player to play audio files/streams.

Good morning,
I would like to ask, why I cannot choose to play a streaming video (like youtube videos) with mx-player and I can only play the stream with the browser built-in player. I use opera browser, but I have already tested a lot of different browsers without seeing any difference; the browsers don't give me the option to use another player, they don't see mx-player as an appropriate app.
Also I tried, to copy and past the videos URL into Network Stream box, but it doesn't work anyway.
Thank You for the support.
I use tubemate to watch youtube videos with less res.
Instead of downloading you can select watch it and select any player you want.

I still would like to figure out if there is a way to stream/play youtube video's automatically to my MX player...
The reason I want to find out, is that youtube is fast becoming the new music player of today... just type in a search for a band/artist (ie. "michael jackson") or general selection like (ie: "salsa music") and you'll be listening for hours to your favorite music.
But using the youtube app or the native browser is not satisfactory, because they will both stop playing/streaming once you lock the screen of your phone.
So if I want to listen to my favorite music while running, I can not use these sources.
MX player has the ability to keep streaming/playing music while the screen is locked...
And that is why I'm looking for a way to stream from youtube to this player.
Help!?!

While in backgound the MX Player cut the sound off and player displays more time than the music has. See photos. I'll not be able to listen music while in GPS software, help
Anyway, it's the best player of the market, congratulations.

Try turning off 'Play alone' on Settings > Player. It will prevent MX Player stop playing on system events.
while opening videos from gallery, the videos open in native video player instead of opening in mx player. i have mx player installed in my phone.
there is no option to configure the default setting.
please help.
if any body has any solution.
yup, same problem here, so i've just learned to live with the stock player lol
I think it's not possible to change this! Why I have no idea. There are volume problems with the default video player, as in it frequently starts loudest when the media volume is all the way down. Many times I've been in a quiet environment and boom it's loud and I have to scramble to turn it down manually. Also like the video to start fullscreen, which seems to me to be a sensible default behavior.

why don't you open the videos from dcim folder using es explorer or any other file browser?
Same issue with VLC.
any update ??
yeah i also facing the issue ,have you found the solution?
It's something Samsung have done, even if you use a package disabler to freeze the stock video player, it just complains that there are no apps installed able to play videos from the gallery even if MX Player is installed
Sucky move
I even denied permission for the stock video player it still plays the videos in gallery regardless. And you are forced to allow permission to the player to access the file.
If there was anyway we could disable the default video player we could replace it with mxplayer.
The default stock video player is stupid. When you change the brightness it also changes the brightness of the whole phone.
My device is on android 7.0 and since last two beta updates from playstore, MX disappeared from the player list when I try to play the network stream.
It still shows up when playing the video stored in the device, but not when the video is a network stream.
This issue happens with v.1.10.12 and 1.10.13 so I installed 1.10.9 and it works now.
Hopefully this issue will be fixed in the next version.
Same here. Android 7.1.1

There weren't any changes in this regard. If you meant that MX Player is not listed while opening video links on Chrome, it is an internal change on the Chrome. It uses it's own mediaplayer instead of asking you to select the activity (or app) to handle the link. If it is not supported, it directly starts downloading the file. Similarly, some other social apps (like Whatsapp, Telegram) has started using the same in the recent time. Since we do not have any controls on their app, we are also helpless on this

Hmm I don't think it's the change on the chrome. All the other players such as vlc, kodi and all the other player kind apps installed on my phone still show up, and even MX player v.1.10.9 working fine. Only MX player v.1.10.12 and 1.10.13 disappeared. ( i've just updated to 1.10.15 to see if there's any difference but unfortunately this version doesn't show up on the list either.)
And I was not trying to open the stream link on chrome. It was a kind of cloud app(no recent update) and have been using it with no issues until v.1.10.12.

That's strange.
Kindly make sure that "Play media links" in the settings > general is enabled in MX Player.
If it is already enabled, Can you pls share more information with us like the name of the cloud app, version, device details, etc? We will try to reproduce it in our end and get it fixed for you.

MX Player fails to recognize intent from other apps
Hi, I am an Android developer and I have been using MX player as a video player for my app for 3 years now. My app has HLS links that I pass to MX Player via intent. But since the last two updates, MX player has stopped recognizing that intent, and ActivityNotFoundException is thrown in my app. I have around 10 million app users and most of them rely on MX player to play HLS links from my app. Please look into this matter at the earliest. Hoping to hear from you soon. Here is the code I have used in my app to launch MX player:
Code:
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
intent.setPackage(getMXPlayerPackage(context)); //here i check which package mx player is installed (paid or free) and then return the corresponding package
intent.setDataAndType(Uri.parse(uri), "video/*");
startActivity(intent);

just updated to v.1.10.17 from Playstore and this issue is resolved. Thanks!
Hello.
I had discovered a new issue in MX Player Pro versions 1.10.24-25:
now if an user clicks on an audio file with the popular .m4a file extension then MX Player Pro (v1.10.24 or 25) does not appear among a list of players, which supports this type of file.
Also .m4a file extension has disappear from the list of supported files in the settings menu of MX Player Pro.
So, now it becomes trouble to play .m4a files by easy way just by clicking on they.
Please, fix this new issue.

Have you recently cleared the MX Player data or reinstalled the app?
MX Player's audio player feature is disabled by default. So, it will not be listed until or unless you enable it manually from the Settings > Audio > Audio Player. Once it is enabled, it will be automatically shown on the list of supported apps.

MX Player is more focused on the video playback. Currently, Music files are listed together with video files. Moreover, it may miss some common functions available on the music players. So, it is very uncommon to use it as a music player. That's why we have kept this optional.
