I was in mental and physical pain every day because of the slowness and lagging and dropped frames constantly with lollipop and I was always looking on the market to buy my next phone, but seem to be hard to find the perfect phone. The biggest problem is that almost all manufacutres besides have a lot of "dead space" in the design and bad screen to body ratio.
I can only say for myself but This marshhmallow update have prolonged the lifespan of this maybe with atleast 6 months (depending on how the Note 6 turns out), it might be more depending on the market. Remember I bought this phone only to keep for 4 months but all phones I was waited to be released was disspointment last year so I have got mine like 1 year and 5 months now
I do not feel the same panic now, cause I am kind of satisfied with the experience with Mate 7, the marshmallow is a real life saver, and besides new software we have got new cpu and gpu too thanks to this software update!
Hey Guys,
so the oneplus 6 is out and it seems like a real powerhouse and everybody seems to love it.
My question is, do you guys think there will be radical changes with the oneplus 6T ? I'd love to see a bigger battery or something worth waiting for.
As it is right now, Im debating whether to get the OP6 now or wait for the OP6T.
Opinions?
Thanks guys!
If you want or need a phone now, then buy it. Otherwise you'll wait forever, because the next releases will always be a step ahead the current ones.
I think you should send a DM to Carl Pei, He should be able to give you an answer.

Yeah, I came from an OP1 so it didn't make much sense waiting any longer. If you have an OP5 or 5T though...I probably wouldn't bother.
oneplus 6t may bring an ip rating withbit and also maybe a bigger battery but nothing more than 3500mah
if these 2 things make a lot of difference for you then go for 6t otherwise 6 is a great phone

I currently have a Verizon LG G4 lol.
It still works but I'm just trying to determine the overall consensus as to what people would expect from the 6T.

There is always something better coming up.
You could be asking the same question in 6 months time with OP6t and OP7.
If you need one now, get the one that best suit your needs NOW
Please continue waiting, the current issues with call functionality is pissing me off by the day. camera is mediocre thats why they didnt go for DXoMark rating this time. You can buy Samsung S8 at this price and with 1 year older hardware that still is better option than Oneplus 6
Perhaps you should return your OP6 and stop whining and get S8?
Get 6T then or wait for 7?
Switched from a Nexus 5X, worth it. Would have waited a bit more for 6T, but nah.
I had the same internal debate.
I was fairly upset with Carl's approach on the notch and my thinking was that the 6t might ditch it. One the other hand the S9+ seemed appealing.
In the end I went for the OP6 because of the open policy towards tinkering and rooting, etc + project treble.
Coming from OP3, I can say it's less of an improvement than I expected but still a good phone. With the option to turn off the notch I even forget it's there for days on end.
The battery is pretty good - now I have 44% after 22 hrs of use (2.5 hrs SoT) so I would not worry about it.
Still running my Nexus 6 with Pure Nexus so looking forward to my first 1+. As far as anything Samsung, not going to happen as they are so locked down.
My take on this is 2 fold. If you wait, then you're 6 more months into the life of the SD845 SoC and in just 3 or 4 months later the newer SD850 is the next thing. So this way if you buy the OP6, you will have the top end chip for almost a year, if that matters to you. You wont be buying almost outdated tech wishing you just waited for the OP7
The other thing is I had a OP5 and selling it last week when I did I was able to get the most out of it and put it towards the OP6 and make it less expensive. If I waited for the OP6T I would have lost more of value off the phone.
Point is, if you want to update then UPGRADE, don't wait cause when the 6T will come out, the OP7 will just replace it in 5 or 6 months and you''ll just wait for forever and never update... crap or get off the pot man! Don't be chic about it make a choice!
The Phone is great, smooth, snappy, VERY good camera better the the GS9+, Pixel 2XL and iPhone X in certain things and barely the same or worse in the rest. Great screen (the notch I've gotten used to and rarely see unless on the home screen) and the WiFI and Network reception and speeds are amazing. the battery life is just about on par with my OP5 I had. Very happy with the OP6 over my OP5

Buy 6T dude.
Get an OP6 now and then sell the OP6 when the OP7 comes out and then get a OP7.
Wait always wait...
The NEXT phone is always better, and the one after that is even better, and so on, and so on.....
They are all just crumbs in the bread of life....
If you need or want a phone, get one, but yes the next one will be better....

I had a cracked OP3 and didn't hesitate on buying the OP6. I haven't run into any problems with it yet, camera is probably the best on any phone I've owned, definitely better than the OP3 because it wouldn't focus so it was just a big blur lol. If you're coming from G4 then I would think about it since that phone is a little older, but keep in mind you will have to wait for like 5 months or whatever. If I was you I would buy it

Nex comes with the tech that other major brands wouldn't provide untill there 2019 flagships. That's the only reason I went with Nex.
Moreover at least in India it is cheaper than other flagships and comparable to OnePlus 6 pricing.

I have an International Nex and its a great device as a phone but the software is bad. I already preordered a 512gb note and should be delivered next week.
For the price Nex is a great option, but if you care about the software and tweaks then I would suggest you go for note if you have the money.

I went for the Nex, I'm coming from a Note 8.
The price asked for the Note 9 isn't justified in my opinion and the new features of the Note 9 are not so useful when it comes to my needs.
I no longer stand the curved screen, for me it's a waste.
In the end both are awesome devices, it all depends on your utilisation, you're the only one having the right answer
Cheers~
Man note 8 its just another phone, Nex really stands out

Hahaha. I was in the same boat as you and finally decided to buy the NEX here in India. I was previously using a note 8. Just like you I wanted a phone which will put a stop for spending on phones for at least next one year. Haha.
I had the Note 8 for about 11 months and it's an absolutely beautiful phone. So, why did I switch to NEX? Here are my reasons.
1) I get bored of phones too soon and same thing happened with the Note 8 and I had been looking to buy a phone that's better than the Note.
2) NEX has some of the coolest tech that one had not even imagined of having a few years ago. Which in itself makes the phone very special. The in display FP scanner works great and the display is absolutely beautiful, the cameras are pretty okay and batter is twice as good as my Note 8. So, I thought I will give it a try.
3) I got it for a really good deal here in India. Gave some 2 year old xiaomi phone I had for exchange and got some cash back on credit card. So, got the phone for about $460, which was one of the main factors for me. I wouldn't have bought it if I had to pay anything more than $500 as I had already spent so much on the Note.
4) Kept the Note 8 with me along with NEX for about a week's time and did extensive testing and NEX really impressed me in most of the areas. And for the first time I felt like the Note 8s price is not justified. I have been a hardcore Samsung user for the last 5 years.
5) Also, Vivo has given a cash back of $320 if I were to exchange my phone with another one with in the first year and again this was one of the important reasons for me, as resale value for the NEX would be bad otherwise and I will be stuck with this phone for ever.
6) I saw the Note 9 too and no doubt it's an amazing phone, but like I said, I am bored with that design and Note 9 to me looked further boring than my Note 8. So, NEX was the best option I had in terms of tech it offers at that price.
7) I was sort of done with the curved displays. I have spent so much on my previous Samsung's for having that curved displays. Used to spend so much on the tempered glasses and cases and I have several times spent a lot on replacing the displays when my both S6 edge and S7 Edge's displays cracked. So, I wanted to shift to a flat screen for good.
But I do miss Note 8 sometimes, especially when it comes to software. vivo's fun touch OS is okay and definitely it too has some stuff that my Note 8 wasn't offering but I would definitely rate Samsung's UI high, for all the features it offered. But again, do I really need all that? and is the price justified? And is it the best phone at the moment, the answer for me was No. While NEX lacks when it comes to software, it really beats the Note 8 in most of the other areas.
So, I would say go for the NEX as Note 9 is not as interesting and not as cool as the NEX and it's price is definitely not justified.

cool looking= nex, i guess nex should have better battery life so nex......etc

Nex's battery life is amazing . 8 to 10 hrs of SOT, with in 24 hrs of usage , it easily survives 1.5 to 2 days.
Also jump from Samsung. I m really impressed with nex s. The software Speed and the camera is amazing. The Sot is crazy.. close to 10hours with WiFi. 7.5 hours with 4g. Very very impressive
I tried the Note 8 for some days, but i was very irritated with the blue line arouns the screen. All the edge/infinity screena have this.

I like the Indian Vivo Nex very much, but a bigger screen would be also nice. Maybe the Honor Note 10 if it gets a global release.

How is your selfie camera holding up to moisture and dust?
Read somewhere that its not even splash / rain proof to the point where a little water damages the camera module and then it starts to make weird noises. Im sooo on the fence with the Nex and note 9
Nex S is great on paper but the fingerprint beneath the screen is not always accurate. The software side of things are not great and the camera quality is terrible and worse in low light. I think Samsung Note 9 is the way to go if you care about longevity and perfection.
Maybe off topic, but can you reply to messages from lockscreen or notification panel with a swipe down on funtouch os?
Hi Guys!
It's been a while since I visited
So my S7 camera broke and I ran out of internal storage  so it's time for a new phone.
I wanted to buy POCO F1 which I can get for around 367$ in my country, but after a little research I discovered they had touchscreen issues, which I had with my OnePlus One and I don't want to have the same experience again..
So, I decided it's time to buy an OP6! I'm thinking 128 or 256 Gb, because somehow I always run out of internal storage space.
My main question is, are there any known/common issues? I want the phone to be SMOOTH and last at least two years.
Are there any known issues like the POCO or the OP1 had? touch/heating/microphone issues? something that will make day to day usage annoying?
Aside from that, feel free to share anything else you think about the phone.
Thanks alot!
Hey,
I own the OnePlus 6 for a month now. I owned a OP 1, 3 and 5 and multiple other devices in-between. The 6 is definitely my favorite OP device till date. With the 1 I had the touchscreen issues, the camera on the 3 was a big disappointment, the 5 was a good phone but I wanted a fingerprint scanner on the back. I could have waited for the 6T but I'm not ready to say goodbye to the headphonejack. The 6 is the first OP phone that feels good enough to keep it around for a longer period. It's also the first phone that doesn't give me the need to root.
I get 6+ hours of SOT. The camera does a good job, great if you use the Pixel Cam mod. The phone is fast and smooth and will beat most high end phones around.
The only reason not to buy it is if you really want the best smartphone camera. Then you would be better off with a pixel phone or a Huawei mate 20 pro or the p20 pro. But then you would have to spend considerably more cash.
I was going to purchase a Oneplus 6 as well. Finally give them a try but al the 8gb versions, aside from white, are sold out on their site. I'm guessing they are discontinuing them and focusing on the 6T?
If so, that definitely sucks.
You can still buy one at e-global....
Anyone else? Im buying in a few hours.
I have had mine for little over 2 weeks now. I have to say it's one of the coolest phones I have owned. Sold my note8 on swappa for almost as much as the 1+6. I decided not to wait for the 6T because of the new FP tech. I like it on the back and the first generation screen FPR is bound to be slower and buggier. Why take a step back in functionality. I would still buy the 6 over the 6T today. The camera is still really good even though it isn't as highly rated as all other flagships. It takes good photos and the new night camera helps a little with dark shots. Unless comparing side by side shots you should be pleased.
I only have 2 gripes about the 6 .
Scrolling just lags for no good reason sometimes. It's not a hardware issue because the phone is a beast. It's a memory management problem and Pie makes it worse. For me installing the XXX ROM mod has helped tremendously. The dev community is huge for 1+ though so you shouldn't have a problem finding many ways to fix this.
There is a bug when pocket mode is enabled that makes the FPR unresponsive until you cover and uncover the front light sensor or just press the power button. It made me think my reader was just faulty until I figured it out.

I see midnight black and white ATM. I thought the same thing a few weeks ago when I was going to buy one but they seem to go in and out of stock quite often. They will eventually replace the 6 with the 6T but I imagine it will still be a few months.
My OnePlus 7 Pro is almost one and a half years old, the One Plus 8 Pro has a few more features but I have no desire to upgrade.
Any new phone will give me a bit of a faster processor but for me it is not worth over $1000.
What would it take you to upgrade ?
Hi
I'm waiting for the OP 8 T Pro. Perhaps this one will be my future OP. My OP 7 Pro is fourteen months old.

Another model with proper full screen. No notch, no punch hole. Then I'd consider.
OnePlus 7 pro is good enough for me, I'm waiting on 5g, Qualcomm's 5.0 100watt charging, or graphene batteries. They are down to 5 mm from 10 mm when s8 plus came out. Also RR rom is a powerhouse over OOS

You mean RR has way more options to customize the ROM than OOS or what?
Also... this a offtopic but could you quickly tell me whars ur average SoT in RR?
And do you if its possible to install Oneplus launcher to retain the live wallpapers?
Well I use it nonstop from 4 to 9pm almost every day...what I liked over stock OOS is the animation speed is faster and battery life increased. If 4 to 9 drains full charge of like 90% start then with RR I'm left with 10% battery life doing same thing. Sometimes phone would shut off because battery drained but that has not happened yet RR rom. 4 to 9 I'm driving around using gps
OnePlus 7 Pro is kinda perfect in all sense.
Camera can be improved, but it's fine with gcam.
Refresh rates above 90 can be nice(90 is still a lot better than 60 lol).
Snapdragon 865..hmm that's a beast but for average use we don't even utilise the full power of our 855 chip. Its gonna be more fluid, less stutters(not that I encounter them frequently with my device) but definitely not worth the price bump.
And yes I am never gonna consider notched displays..hate em,kinda ruins everything.Believe me I tried to get used to it with Xiaomi phones but hell no I can never get used to it.
Flat screens will be nice..I am getting lots of accidental touches.. especially around the corners.
Graphene batteries FTW
I really want those new Sammy phone's especially the flip phone 5g but the locked boots for T-Mobile is such a deal breaker...I love mods and ROMs so I'm torn because if I do get a new Sammy I will have to sell my OnePlus and my left arm to get one
My wife is an iPhone user, me op7pro.
She is very conscious about privacy and always comments that "at least with your phone you know when the front camera is on"
That is what will make me consider a newer phone...
Full screen use and a pop up camera.
I'll upgrade once they make another no notch phone.
Pop up selfie and full screen access is perfect for me
Waiting for the 9.
Couldn't agree more. This phone is an absolute killer. I normally go through phones every 6-12 months. I originally had the 6t, and when the 7pro launched I snagged it immediately. I had some financial troubles right after getting it, so I returned it and got my 6t up and running again. But for the few days that I had the 7pro, I was obsessed. The screen, outstanding. 90hz, awesome. Popup cam, tingled my inner nerd. Battery life, solid. Speed, damn quick. What more could I want???
Few months go by, money irons itself out, 7t launches. I promptly snag the 7pro again. I won't look back. Until a phone actually beasts what this phone brings to the table, then I'm good until this thing dies. I would need a screen with no notch or cutout (indisplay or popup), 120hz+, 5g, fast wireless charging, and a significant upgrade in rear camera HW to switch. Looking at you OP 10 pro.

I think the OnePlus 9 is about as soon as I would upgrade. even then, if Dual-SIM doesn't work it's a non-starter for me.
It's usually cheaper for me to upgrade every year then every 2 years at the resale value of a 1 year old OnePlus phone is really good. I lose about $100 on the phone resale probe to when I bought it new as my phone's are always mint when I sell them.
That said, this was the first time I didn't sell and buy a new OnePlus (bought the 5, 6 and 7pro). The loss of the full screen with no notch or punch hole is a deal breaker for me after having the 7 pro.
I was fine with a OnePlus phone with no wireless charging, OFFICIAL, IP rating to keep the price in the 600-700 price range. I will never pay 1k for a phone. I have the money, that not an issue, I just won't spend it on a phone.
So full screen with no notch or hole in display and 600-700 price or I'll just but year old used phones in the fire I guess. In the mean time, this phone still can't be showered down and with 256gb and 12gb ram it's pretty future proof, especially since OnePlus is known to do 3 versions of Android on the same device
