P40 android 11 - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi does anyone know when android 11 will come to P40 pro? not EMUI 11 Android 11 or if it will come to huawei devices?
Currently i have EMUI 11 but android 10.

Hy! You will not get Android 11 on your device. Android 10 is the last Android version for this phone. Only your Emui version will be updated BUT... For the moment Hongmeng OS is released on the P40 Pro in China and later this year Harmony OS will replace Android 10. So...in short terms your next OS update will be Harmony not Android.

There is no info about that. Last time I reached huawei developers, they mentioned me EMUI12 in Q2 2021. Was asking them to add force dark mode option to developer options.

Yes! EMUI 12.0 on Harmony OS. Even if Huawei will shift to their own OS the user interface will still be called EMUI.

What Harmony OS? You mean Chinese copy of AOSP?

No! Harmony OS not AOSP don't let yourself manipulated and disinformed about those articles that state that Harmony OS is AOSP. Those similarities with Android that you see on the internet are actually the compatibility layer of Harmony OS. I know that Huawei is keeping a lot of secrecy around their OS, the things are not running so smoothly for Harmony so a lot of things still need to be refined. They built a system from scratch and by looking/knowing the Android past the things don't run as planned from the beginning. So...have patience and try to "study" the things deeper. Harmony isn't Android, is a entirely new OS built by Huawei which runs a Compatibility Layer for Android so that the users can still install Android apps on it.

The emergence of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system was trending the Android world not quite long, I know by now many of you must be waiting to feel the Android 7.0 operating system. It’s good news for Nexus users as the developers preview for Android N has been rolled out for them. So if you use Nexus, you can as well give it a trial.
Extra features have been added to the Android 7.0 N OS, and with your device running on marshmallow or lollipop, these awesome feature can be assimilated. Though the developers preview of the android 7.0 N won’t work on all nexus, but it’s no harm if you give it a trial as far as your android device runs on the lollipop or marshmallow operating system.
As planned by the developer, the Android will feature on millions of non-Android N devices even without making an upgrade. Your android lollipop and marshmallow devices can feature the Android N as there’s an xposed module codenamed “Android N-ify” which will help on the enhancement.
To set up Android N-ify on marshmallow device or your lollipop, you’ve to ensure the Xposed framework is installed on your device. If you are having difficulties on that, you can see this guide to set up Xposed framework on your device.
Once you’ve installed Xposed framework in your device, use this link to download the Android N-ify module, after that return to your Xposed framework and enable the android N-ify module. If you’ve done just that, you can restart your device, start the android D-ify module and your device will possess the features of android 7.0 N.

They confirmed no.
We're not even getting the full EMUI 8.
It would be sweet if some xda moderator comes and closes all the "regarding oreo update" threads and archive them so that it'll be more easier to find the actual thread I'm looking for!
regarding your query, nobody knows exact answer for that(including Honor themselves).. honor india said it won't get whereas the euro Honor said not to believe honor india... So your only option is to wait or resort to the oreo custom rom being developed in this community or change to some other smartphone.
Personally, i don't care if I'll get the update because i previously owned a device from another budget oriented chinese company, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus promised nougat for the device and later on simply ignored and said hardware restrictions whereas Sony provided nougat for Z5 series!
I've heard rumors that Huawei is selecting beta testers for some update on the Russian forum 4pda.
Let's see if it turns out to be something interesting like EMUI 8

I am Russian and reading 4pda
there is some strange post with machine-translated text about "looking testers for some new EMUI version"
nothing specific
Please stick to the dedicated Oreo thread for this sort of discussion: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/oreo-update-honor-8-t3669505

hi, so it means that Android is updated to 8.1 but the EMUI is still in 8.0? I believe that it's already 8.2 in some Honor devices.

Well, for this version, yes.
Some versions of the Honor V10/View 10 are on Android 8.0 & EMUI 8.1
So yes, there's gonna be differences, newer phones typically getting the latest of Android & EMUI 1st.
More or less, the same practice is SOP on all mfgs phones....

Miui 10 for mi4 chinese

Hi My Xiaomi MI4 recently has been showing notification of UPDATE available TO version MIUI 10. Should I update it ?
I've heard it doesn't change nothing at all. and beside it once you update to it, you can't downgrade to previously version.

It may slow down the phone. But it will also give new looks and better features. Also, there is always an option to downgrade if you can use your laptop and spend some time to install any custom rom. (Will also void the guarantee)
It's a good choice to update to MIUI 10.

I've tried the lastest version of MIUI for cancro(MIUI10 8.9.13) for nearly one year. Before Febuary, 2019, I tried the PixelExperience(based on Android 8.1) and its new features & mini size touched me(I can use my face to unlock by Google Smart Lock. And 16GB isn't enough nowadays). But finally I missed the convenient settings and stability of MIUI, and Android 6.0 can still running most of the apps.
Of course, I have deleted some useless system apps(for me) like Mi Video\Mi Game\Mi Browser. In this case, I installed MX Player and Via(also Google Webview Core). To make the ROM better, I also changed the theme(bar, lockscreen), fonts(changed to MiLanPro by an app[because Magisk doesn't work on this ROM]), launcher(with a good icon package) and wallpaper. It doesn't slow down the phone. Just try it!

Downgrading note 20 ultra from android 11 to android 10 *Urgent*

Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased n986u1 but realized they have closed the option to unlock the bootloader after the recent patch.
2 days later I purchased an Exynos variant is shipped with android 12 and somehow managed to downgrade to android 11.
I'm a full-time oneplus/ iPhone user and was not aware of the binary issue on Samsung. Want to downgrade to android 10 doest matter if its custom ROM or anything else
Current software version-
Android 11
n985fxxs3dug9
Help will be highly appreciated
Very happy to donate something for future development.
The bootloader was updated so rolling back past 11 likely isn't possible.
The last new Samsung Note that shipped with Android 10 is the N10+. New ones are still for sale.
You can roll back to the same and a higher version than the bootloader/build number. That significant digit is the 5th from the end.
Here's how to read and interpret what you got.
Example, in this case it is 2, a N10+ running on Pie:

cant even flash a samsung custom rom?
Checking SamFW there's Android 11 and Android 12 Samsung stock ROMs compatible with the lastest BL revision. Going back to Android 10 wouldn't change your bootloader version, regardless. There may be some method that I've missed, but it's unlikely that it will be worth the time/effort to get there.
You can flash Android 11 (As I did originally) since there's a version compatible with the BL revision, or flash Android 12.
Edit: If your goal is just to root the device, check out https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-dr-ketan-rom-i-oneui-4-0-i-oneui-3-1.4154487
