Help with WIFI OP8T_O2_BETA_2 - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Hi all, just received my 8T on Friday. I migrated from a Pixel 4XL which was having microphone issues I think. After migration, tried to set up the phone, and I could not get the 8T to connect to my home's WPA2-PSK wifi network to log back into my google account, get OS and app updates, add email accounts, etc. Had to do all that over 4G. Finally discovered by accident that the phone will connect to unencrypted networks like hotspots. Eventually, I run a debug trace on my home wifi infrastructure (Cisco 9130 with embedded wireless controller & other Cisco 3800's) and I can see that the phone connects just fine to "open" network that I created to test with, but as soon as I try to connect to the WPA2 network everything in the house runs on, the entries in the trace stop... meaning the phone isn't even trying to connect to the access point. On the phone, when you click to connect to the secured wifi, you can see the status go from "saved" to "connecting" back to "saved", while the access point sees no connection attempt whatsoever. So it's either software or hardware problem with the phone. Seeing as I've been on at least two different versions of the OS, I suspect hardware.
So my question is this: is anyone else able to connect an 8T to a wifi network that's secured with WPA2 preshared key? Is it just me having trouble? I've been on chat with OnePlus support two different times, now I'm waiting since Sunday for a shipping label for RMA to OnePlus.
Any help greatly appreciated!

[Q] Wifi issue - instantly disconnects?

Picked up my Desire S today, all seemed well at work playing with the phone menus etc but now I've got it home I'm having a nightmare trying to get it to connect to my wireless network. It can see the network ok and allows me to put in a password. The phone gives no incorrect password message and seems to connect but will then disconnect right away.
I've tried the static ip fix some people mention for wifi issues with this phone but it makes no difference, has this happened to anyone else?
I always forget to disable mac address filter on my access point when trying to connect with a new device.
Yeah I do have mac filtering on but adding the mac address or disabling address filtering altogether had no effect, but thankfully the phone is now working on my wireless network. For some reason it wouldn't connect until the new sim card I was given had become active, which is very odd!

[Q] Wireless distance issues with Sharp IS03

I originally posted this in the IS03 sub-thread but received no replies.
Not root-related but since a little under a week ago, my IS03 has been having a real hard trouble with wifi when at home. If I move more than 4 meters or so away form the router, I cannot access anything.
When this happens, I'll disable/renable wifi (from 4-5 meters away or further) and one of two things will happen: 1. My network will not even show up or 2. My network will show up (with a 'good' or 'fair' wifi status) but when I try to connect, it will disconnect immediately.
What I noticed through the Wifi Analyzer app was that even when the Android wouldn't show my network on the network list, wifi analyzer still registered it about -70dbm.
I originally thought the router is to blame but both my wife's AU HTC Evo and my Amazon Kindle have no problems using wifi from the same distance.
I also thought that perhaps the cover I have for the phone may be collecting dust so I removed it to no avail.
Any ideas why the wifi in my phone is acting up?
Thanks.
UPDATE since original post: I moved my router (Linksys WRT160N V3) to a more central location and installed DD-WRT (TX Power power set to default 71) and the problem went away for about a week but now it has returned. Both my Kindle and my wife's Evo have no issues with accessing the internet through wifi from the other side of the apartment but the IS03 cannot.
If I try to connect to wifi and I am right next to the router, one of three things will happen: 1. It WILL connect but I cannot access the net. 2. The network will show up on the available network list but it won't automatically connect (will say the network is disabled. If I try to manually connect, it will immediately disconnect. 3. Network won't even show up.

[Q] New Nexus 5 doesn't see my Wi-Fi network, but sees others

I bought a Nexus 5 when they were first released. During the setup process, it listed available Wi-Fi networks, mine was on the list, and I could connect to it just fine.
I had a few issues with the handset that Google were helping me to try and troubleshoot, but in the end they said that they would send me a brand new device. It arrived today, but during the setup process, it will see the Wi-Fi networks of my neighbours, but not my own. I entered in the details of it manually, and while it does appear on the list then it just says "not in range" even though I'm sitting 3 feet from the wireless router (a Virgin Media SuperHub).
All of the other devices I have with Wi-Fi, including the other Nexus 5 which I have not sent back yet, can see my Wi-Fi network address just fine and connect to it. I am not using any settings that would prevent a device from connecting, such as MAC address filtering - this is just a standard WPA2 Wi-Fi network that's password protected. I have tried rebooting the router, but it makes no difference.
Any idea what the cause of this could be? Wi-Fi on the phone clearly works as it can see my neighbours' networks - it just can't see mine.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Just wondering what is the channel your router is set to? If the router is set to a channel outside of the region your phone is set to you will have problems.
i had same issue. got the device last week, opened the box and started setting the phone up. when i got to the WIFI connection section i could see other WIFI routers but not mine. i i inserted a SIM card, continued setting up the device with 3G. after device boot up again i could see my router SSID. since then everything's fine.

[Completed] Latest Android phones not connecting to WiFi router

At work we installed a new WiFi router a few months back. The connection is open and no one needs a password to connect to it. But many who bought android phones recently arent able to connect to it. I have a OnePlus One with android 4.4.4 which doesnt connect to the WiFi. My colleagues own Xiaomi, Motorola phones which they bought recently, which also doesnt connect to the internet.
The phones detect the WiFi signal, says the network is saved but fails to connect to it no matter what. The temporary solution is to make our laptop into a WiFi router and use it but this is seriously annoying. The router is from HP and I dont know the exam model number for it at the moment
I will be grateful if someone can find any solution for this problem. Also, I am a novice when it comes to gadgets so, if your suggestion is to manually set up my WiFi settings please do so with clear instructions or a video of some sort. However I will be happy if this problem gets solved in a straightforward manner.
Please help!

No need to configure wifi on your device IMO.
Sounds like an issue with the wifi router.
To check an fix the internet settings of the wifi router, you will need the adminstrative access/console/password for the router.
Then you can check that all new devices afre allowed to connect. On some routers you can restrict the access to a list of known devices or by enabling a MAC address filtering.
If you find such options on the HP wifi router, disable it and restart the wifi.
And make sure that the SSID of the wifi network is visible (= not hidden). Some Android devices have issue connecting to hidden networks.
Thread closed. Thank you.

Pixel 2 can't connect to the wifi repeater internet

I own a Wi-Fi repeater to which other smartphones and my wife's MacBook can connect to and have internet access. But on my Pixel 2, while I can connect to repeater wifi network I get the warning "connected, no internet access".
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks In advance.
Cheers

Try this... Turn wifi off and/or unplug everything that has wifi access. Everything. Unplug the repeater and then the main router. Wait thirty seconds and power the router back up. Once it's fully connected, power the repeater on wait for it to connect. Then, turn on your wifi devices. You should be good to go.
Sometimes, DHCP creates conflicts, so this just assigns a new IP address to each device. I have an NAS that I travel with, and every time I connected back to home network, it would cause problems and I would have to do this. Eventually, I just assigned it a static IP address. No more issues.

Thanks for your answer. I just tried that and it didn't work. I still get the "connected, no internet" warning
Any new ideas, please? Cheers
I have a similar issue with the router of a close relative I visit often. I always have the "connected with no internet" on their router. But if the router is rebooted my pixel 2 will connect fine (initially), then after about 15-30 mins later it's back to saying the WiFi has no internet.
It's rare but bugs with connections and compatibility somewhere can happen between devices. I'm guessing it's some bug in the software causing this. But because the pixel 2 doesn't exactly have a huge market share the users affected are likely not enough for either Google or the manufacturer of the routers experiencing this issue to ever release a fix for this.
My understanding is that Android P fixes a some WiFi issues. Hearing that it's a good daily driver these days, you could load the latest beta.
Is it a "release candidate" at this point?
