T-Mobile Anyone Unable To Access Certain Websites - General Questions and Answers

I have noticed this over the past several months and it is constant. Using multiple TMO Sims in multiple unlocked devices. Several websites will not respond when using cellular data. Those sites respond just fine when connected to WIFI on the same devices. Originally seemed to be a DNS issue but using T-Mobile DNS servers the sites seems to resolve correctly. Aside from not responding to web requests they also do not respond to ping either. My guess is that this has something to do with IPV6 but even when changing apn settings to strictly IPV4 the issue remains.
Do any other T-Mobile users have this issue? We have 1100 lines of service on several different unlocked devices all with the same issue. The easiest site to test this with is t-mobile themselves... T-Mobile.com will never respond when trying from cellular data. Also several MS Office online sites fail as well.

@stevecast2024,
Steve, I am on T-Mobile as well. Could you give me some specific sites you are having issues with ?
I would be happy to see if I am having similar issues on these sites.
Thanks my friend.

Sure. Thanks for the reply. Here are a few:
T-Mobile.com
Login.yahoo.com
wunderground.com
Sprint.com
The sites will simply time out. Work fine on wifi.
I also have noticed issues with some apps. For instance Zello, works most of the time but occasionally they shift login servers and we have to disable tls/ssl in the app in order for it to connect. Very odd. Unfortunately, that is a bit more difficult to troubleshoot.
Thanks

If you are on Android 10 and you have bootloader unlocked and rooted, then it might be Android 10 prohibiting you. I can't do anything on Firefox now.

These devices are not rooted and bootloader is locked. The majority of them are CAT S42 phones unlocked. Also some Sonim XP8s, and Galaxy S9s. The issue exists on all of these devices.

OK @stevecast2024,
I have tried each of these 4 sites on:
1. A Windows 10 desktop using Chrome and connected using GB wired ethernet to a Cox cable modem.
and2. A T-Mobile branded OnePlus 8T (unrooted, bootloader locked) using Chrome and connected solely thru a T-Mobile 5G connection.
Note: both systems were connected using both ipv4 and ipv6
My results were as follows:
T-Mobile.com: Worked as expected on both systems
Login.yahoo.com: Worked as expected on both systems, however, the phone showed a more simplified interface compared to the desktop
wunderground.com: Worked as expected on both systems
Sprint.com: On both systems, redirected to T-Mobile.com, but then displayed a popup saying:
"Sprint has joined T-Mobile!
We're so glad you're here. If you're a Sprint customer, tap 'Continue' to access your account and more."
In short, I did not see any connectivity issues at all on these sites. I will continue to test these sites from different locations and at different times to see if I can recreate any of the issues you are seeing.
FYI: I am in Las Vegas and I have been VERY pleasantly surprised with the 5G coverage and bandwidth here so far.
May I ask where you are located ?

My phone has Android 11 and does not have issues with any of these sites. I wonder if it might have something to do with the 5G network upgrades in your area. Maybe a glitch was introduced in your area when the network was upgraded

Unfortunately, @stevecast2024 indicates he is seeing this issue on nearly 1000 devices of varying brands and android versions. That certainly doesn't sound like a defective phone

Thanks for testing. I'm on the east coast. Just outside of Philadelphia Pa. None of these devices support 5g but I wouldn't be surprised if the 5g upgrades may have something to do with the issue.
I will say I am beyond happy with the coverage we get from T-Mobile here. We bought the CAT S42 phones due to durability and their support of TMO LTE band 71 600mhz. The 600 mhz coverage is phenomenal.

Yes, before I had a 5G phone, my 4G LTE here was frequently band 71 and was also fast.
I was thinking, you could try connecting one of your phones to a PC and adb shell to the device.
You should then be able to try some command line DNS and/or TCP connections, narrowing down what is happening.

So yesterday our Sonim XP8s received an upgrade to Android 10. Now not only can we not access the specified websites and many others, but we can no longer use the ZelloWork application when on mobile data. As soon as wifi is turned off Zello disconnects and will not reconnect until wifi is turned back on. Errors in the Zello Log show Failed to read public key.

AT&T LTE network blocking certain apps and websites

This thread is in semi-referance to the thread" AT&T has something in this phone" The conversation went towards saying carrierIQ was causing the problem, however after testing I can verify this isnt the issue.
Went down to the local AT&T store and spoke with the manager and showed them the problem of pulling up justin.tv on the phone. We also verified that it didnt work on their floor models of the Skyrocket and also the Vivid. He was clueless. We tried the website on the Galaxy S 2 sitting next to the skyrocket and it worked fine as well as the iPhone 4S, etc. He changed the IMEI number of the phone on my att account to the standard Galaxy s2 and gave me a new sim card then justin.tv pulled up just fine on my skyrocket. So....its verified that the problem IS with the LTE APN settings as well as the IMEI number that AT&T has on file for the phone.
I have also had problems with using the Redbox app to reserve DVD's for pickup not working over the AT&T LTE network. Also have problems with Facebook and Netflix not working over the LTE network, however this is more sporadic.
Does anyone else have any other websites that do NOT work over the LTE network besides Justin.tv?
I do not think this has anything to do with carrierIQ either. I have rooted the phone since then and installed a ROM that had carrierIQ removed. Still gettting the same issue.
AT&T has issued me a credit for $30 to compensate me for the unlimited internet package on my account and have escalated the claim to a supervisior.
The rep told me that they can only guarantee that any ATT phone will only pull up att.com and thats it. They do not guarantee any websites to work nor any apps.
Did you try changing the APN settings?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342159
hmmm, justin.tv works fine on mine.
I've never read that it was a CIQ issue. It's always been reported to be an issue with APN. PTA to be specific. You can manually create a HSPA and MMS APN and Justin.tv works just fine. The link above is a good source of info...
I also get a "web page not available" screen on Justin.tv when trying to access over LTE in Dallas.

just got my skyrocket in chicagoland, had my account provisioned by an at&t rep over live chat because it didnt work with data. I moved from iphone unlimited enterprise to smartphone data unlimited enterprise (same price); and the rep needed my IMEI and SIM card number; after a restart the data worked.
so far:
visiting justin.tv
via android browser -- bad request doesnt work.
via firefox mobile -- works.
via opera mobile -- works.
It looks like they are blocking certain stations on TuneIn Radio, I cannot stream 1310 The Ticket in Dallas unless on WiFi, but other stations work

If you change the APN settings to HSPA+ that defeats the entire purpose of having an LTE phone. At that point, you may as well go exchange the Skyrocket for the normal Galaxy S2. Correct me if I am wrong?
I was told by the manager of the AT&T store that changing the APN settings will eventually result in the phone not being able to connect to the network at all.....because you should be subscribed to an LTE data package on your AT&T account. They have different coding for LTE and HSPA, so if they dont match it results in your connection not working at all. (At least this is what I have been told)

That is true, but you're not connecting at all... that's why you can try to change it and see if it works. A lot of us are using this work around until something is done about it. Data problems everywhere- multiple forums and websites addressing this issue. In a perfect world, if we had a perfectly running LTE network, I'm sure none of us would want to use this work-around either. But we do what we gotta do...

Does your connection seem stable? Was told by AT&T that changing the APN settings would result in the phone not working at all because the line isn't provisioned for the HSPA network. However, I'm learning to take everything AT&T says with a grain of salt. Every rep you talk to will tell you something completely different.

All LTE devices are provisioned to fall back to HSPA+ and other legacy networks and changing the APN to "phone" would just limit your device from accessing LTE network and keep it on HSPA+ or older.
AT&T rep has no idea how these things work. next time try to talk to level 3 tech or someone actually knowledgable.
Tried the phone setting per your suggestion, thanks. Internet worked but no mms.
This situation with these phones and the LTE network is like buying a fast sports car that won't shift out of 2nd gear. LOL. What's the point of having it? If it cannot connect to LTE and work as advertised I'll prob just return it.....

I was wondering this too! I had problems getting The Ticket on Thursday over LTE, but I thought I remembered having the same problem on my home wifi. Maybe I didn't have the wifi turned on.
Testing right now, I'm still not getting The Ticket over LTE, it worked fine on my wifi this morning.
EDIT: I'm trying other radio stations in TuneIn Radio Pro and some work while others don't. I don't see any pattern yet, other than Cumulus stations not working (the power of Cumulus). I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I know that The Ticket is listed in my Android app and iPad App, but not on Google TV or Roku, so it leads me to believe they have some kind of channel provisions in their contract.

I've listened to The Ticket on TuneIn since at least April 2010 when I got my Nexus One. I can't remember if I used TuneIn on my iPhone before that or another app. It's always been on AT&T 3G in Dallas.
It's not an overall AT&T issue, more specifically it's an AT&T LTE issue. It seems that it's directly related to the filtering of traffic that others are posting about in this thread.
justin.tv works for me on the stock browser but only if I'm connected to my local wifi network. If I try 4g, or 3g on stock it kicks back a bad request.

LTE Band 12, VoLTE, and T-Mobile

I am starting this thread, since there seems to be a lot of confusion around "newer" LTE bands, like Band 12 on T-Mobile, which apparently require a fully functioning and "approved" VoLTE phone to get reception.
There are various threads in device-specific forums, but they are not getting a lot of attention, and this is a significant enough problem that it should be more visible.
T-Mobile at this point has pretty fantastic coverage via the 700MHz Band 12 LTE network.
The only problem is that Band 12 requires the phone to be VoLTE "certified". The rumor was that phones could still connect to this band/LTE-network and send/receive data, but that they would fall back to alternative bands, even 3G or 2G, for phone calls. For a lot of people that would be "good enough" if not ideal.
Based on some recent testing, this is NOT CORRECT:
While phones may "sometimes" connect to Band 12 for data, the much more common scenario is apparently that the phone will disconnect from Band 12 almost immediately, or will refuse to connect to Band 12, and will instead default to an alternative LTE, 4G, 3G, or 2G connection.
In other words: even if you have perfect LTE Band 12 coverage (5/5 bars, or 100%), your "Band 12 capable" phone may instead try to connect to a really ****ty GPRS or EDGE tower that has barely any reception for the phone.
I recently encountered this with my Xperia X Compact while travelling: My phone would barely be able to connect to a T-Mobile tower with a GPRS data connection, while my wife's Moto G4 would get 5/5 or 100% LTE reception. Swapping SIM cards had the same result, so we know the problem rests with the phone.
Searching for "Available Mobile Networks" on my "band 12 capable" phone would show various T-Mobile 4G networks, but the phone would be unable to connect to them.
Talking to other Xperia X Compact owners, they have the same problem: the phone will sporadically connect to Band 12, but it is not a reliable connection (if the phone even connects) and it will (more likely) prefer other networks/bands/frequencies.
Based on the phone having the proper frequencies, I would assume that T-Mobile has some mechanism on some (or the majority of) towers where they disconnect non-VoLTE certified devices.
Anecdotally, I also had a similar issue with my previous phone - a Nexus 5x. The phone is even VoLTE certified, but when using Cyanogenmod/LineageOS, it would have really terrible reception, despite the location having almost perfect Band 12 coverage - LineageOS/CM does not (or had no) VoLTE support.
I have also tried "hacking" the X Compact to enable VoLTE support by adding the relevant lines to the build.prop and enabling the option under Settings and (*#*#4636#*#*) but this does not appear to make any difference.
A list of T-Mobile "VoLTE certified" phones can be found here:
http://www.spectrumgateway.com/compatible-phones
Would be great if anyone has any suggestions how to resolve this, or force the phone to prioritize Band 12, but it would otherwise appear that the only solution is to get the phone certified by T-Mobile (so much for net neutrality and open access).
I'm using an Xperia X Compact and my home market only has band 12 lte and I can't connect to it. Which means I'm always in 3g or roaming and rarely have data in buildings. It's maddening because I will only buy Sony. I think they are the only manufacturer making attractive handsets and the build quality is light years beyond well marketed, poorly constructed brands like Samsung and LG. But regardless of anyone's choice of manufacturer, a device with a functioning 700 mhz lte radio should function just fine on the corresponding network regardless of where it was purchased.
Would certifying this device and enabling VOLTE be particularly costly to Sony? Correct me if I'm wrong but based on internal components this device should be capable of this ja?
I think it wouldn't hurt to send petitions to both the manufacturer and T-mobile USA. This certainly doesn't help Sony in a market they are seriously struggling in. It also isn't very uncarrier to favor certain devices over others.
The only reason I switched from Verizon was the ability to choose my device. That and the things John Legere was doing to change the industry. I believed in what he was saying. But right now it isn't working for me and likely many others. He should know. I can say firsthand that the guy answers his emails. I think we need to show both parties that this is worth their attention.

I should mention that after multiple calls to T-mobile tech support I received a cryptic call very late at night from someone high up in tech support.
Long story short he at least admitted that even though it wasn't a t mobile device and even though it didn't support VoLTE, it should still connect to band 12 just fine. He also said that they were having problems with this sort of thing in my area and that it should be resolved in a month. He also said my IMEI was logged and I would be given priority in the matter. Whatever that means.
I should also mention that was a month ago and he didn't have an email to give me. He did however give me a phone number (probably just the department) that I need to dig up.
Could just be a bunch of fluff because they are afraid to lose customers. Then again he was from tech support not customer retention. And as I said t mobile does listen to its customers.

Since I did encounter this also on my Nexus 5x with LineageOS, I doubt that what T-Mobile told you is true. They must be actively blocking these non-certified handsets, since the phone should just attempt connecting.

Both. Maybe also complain to the FCC - I thought that carriers needed to provide open access to their network. Verizon got into hot water for not doing so ...
Does your compact ever connect to lte for a few seconds after a reboot?
I might try to force LTE and restart and see if that has any effect.
I just flashed the UK. T mobile networks work just fine. Well except lte/4g but that was expected.

It does connect sometimes but it then usually kicks down to Band 4 or a GSM band (HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, or even GPRS).
I cannot find any info how to prioritize LTE bands, so I assume this is T-Mobile's band 12 cell tower's kicking the phone off when they notice that it is not VoLTE approved.

Interesting discussion though nothing new.
Yes, we know that Band 12 phones should be able to get a data connection, yet T-Mobile apparently actively disconnects them (or bars them from connecting), especially in areas where Band 12 would give you great coverage but there is no other coverage.
F Sony and F T-Mobile for this!
BTW: here is an article about the follow up model: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/08/sony-xperia-xz1-compact/
Please leave comments about Sony not getting their phones approved for VoLTE with T-Mobile and the phone therefore NOT REALLY WORKING with the carrier.
It would seem to me that the only solution to this problem would be either T-Mobile accepting a standard spec for VoLTE, they open source their code for VoLTE, or someone figures out how to implement VoLTE and trick T-Mobile to think it is an approved "whitelisted" phone.
Given that the T-Mobile network is getting worse and worse every day without Band 12 coverage, I find it really surprising that most people just don't seem to care. Does nobody use their phone outside of WiFi?

There is a standard spec, the problem is the certification. It requires a certificate from T-mobile to be used by the phone, which is gained through certification. And if SONY is detecting T-mobile at the modem level then there isn't anything a ROM can do with or without a ROM. I had a Z5, but this drove me crazy so I switched to a Pixel.
I wouldn't expect this to change based on SONY de-prioritizing the US phone market, so either upgrade to a new supported sony phone or move on (shrug)

That can't be true.
I accept that T-Mobile may issue a certificate but that must be processed on the rom/OS/phone.apk level. Otherwise, every custom ROM on any certified phone would work. We all know that is not the case.
If it's the rom/OS/phone.apk though, why can't we hack a phone to work with TMUS / VoLTE?
I have an x compact and while it is the best device I have ever owned it is essentially unusable on T-Mobile or att.

Because the SONY modem firmware doesn't even attempt to negotiate VoLTE, which does *not* happen in user space. It is likely possible to hack the qualcomm modem with QPST to enable this, but without documentation and correct values one will not get very far.

If it was the modem, then flashing a new system (eg custom ROM) should not make any difference.
I also have a Nexus 5x. With stock it is fantastic and uses VoLTE on T-Mobile. With LineageOS, it is useless on Band 12. SAME MODEM!
Experience therefore shows that it is the OS/System that somehow prevents this from working.

The Nexus 5x is a different phone made by a different manufacturer with a different firmware scheme. You cannot compare them directly.
I noticed that the XZ1 Compact says right on the website compatible with t mobile band 12 and wifi calling... this is infuriating. It should be easy for them to patch the Xperia x compact.
I would have never purchased this if I had known. Especially since they apparently flashed an update to my old t mobile z3 that allows voice over lte and band 12.
Sony X Compact

There is a standard spec, the problem is the certification. It requires a certificate from T-mobile to be used by the phone, which is gained through certification. And if SONY is detecting T-mobile at the modem level then there isn't anything a ROM can do with or without a ROM. I had a Z5, but this drove me crazy so I switched to a Pixel.
I wouldn't expect this to change based on SONY de-prioritizing the US phone market, so either upgrade to a new supported sony phone or move on (shrug)

It has to be on Sony, use the t-mobile BYOD app to check, I have a Huawei mate 9 that I just purchased, connects perfectly on band 12, VoLTE works just like it's supposed to. On a side note I went through three Sony phones before I bought this Huawei, had to return all three due to quality control issues, one had worst touches that made the phone unusable, one wouldn't pick up the SIM card, and the third wouldn't power on at all, thank good Amazon refunded my money on all three. They may have the Sony name on the phone, but they are still build by the lowest bidder in China and makes with Sony's name.

See this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...cked-smartphones-and-yep-its-still-confusing/ It is up to an OEM to decide to go through this process per-phone. Since no US carrier carried the phone they didn't not bother spending the money or time to certify it. I loved the SONY design, but since they weren't supporting the market I had to abandon them for other phones.

Yall have these Verizon OnePlus 8 issues?

Is anyone else getting freezing using chrome browser? If so what browser do you recommend? I've tried Firefox to and Opera for some reason this phone hates. I don't get why this phone is so slow. Mine takes a minute to process anything. Really hope they fix these software hickups. I guess FR but that would be a big job. The battery consumption seems to be the only best feature on this phone.
Yes, seems like it's a OnePlus problem. No one has a solution that I've seen yet.
I just minimize Chrome and reopen it and it works again.

It's not just on this phone. I just came from the Essential phone and Chrome's been doing that for months. It's Chrome, not the phone. I don't think the built in webview is playing nice with the os. Maybe try Chrome beta?
Question: are you using a custom DNS or VPN?

It's also happening to me, I don't use any VPNs nor DNS. I think this is a OnePlus Problem, maybe they'll address it in the next update. Let's report this problem guys
Edit : I'm not on a Verizon version, mine is IN2010
Funny thing is whenever chrome freezes, going to the home screen and returning back to the app fixes the issue ??*

It's not OnePlus, it's Chrome. Acts the same way on the Essential PH-1. Try Safari or Microsoft Edge browser, or any one that uses Android web view.

The fix is to install another web browser, then go to apps in the settings and inactivate Chrome. Haven't had single hickup since I did this.

Nice. Glad I came across this noticed it instantly when I first got this phone back in April course I couldn't find anything about it then. And oddly it seems like it is way worse and 90htz. Was about to return too vzw. Honestly was thinking it may be a device issue Till I read posts Any suggestions? Gonna try brave
Not really sure where to ask this question but Verizon OnePlus 8 UW. No root or anything outta the norm. Constantly having intermittent data loss, intermittent hotspot loss, calls and texts as well I'm sure since they pushed an update couple weeks back. Message I get from there network troubleshooter says( Your phone can't auto switch too a faster network if it's available. Your better off too use Cdma/Lte or global mode for better signal strength). Far as I know Cdma had been reserved for EMT/Fire etc. Problem seems too arise only when the silly 5g icon comes up. So thinking when it tries too switch too 5g its having that intermittent loss going back to global mode an getting hung up somehow as a simple restart fixes it temporarily. If I was rooted I believe a prl or apn change would fix it maybe. So tired of dealing with Verizon techs, Any help it fix would be great

Sorry ta hear I've done a lot of searching and can't seem to resolve it. Dealing with Verizon it's just getting so old I believe I'm going to just try an root, flash, etc. That or go T-Mobile. If I may ask are you in the States? I'm in Florida btw. Very populated city Clearwater is a big fact and it's a problem all around
I've had Verizon family plan for 20 years now. So I have to deal with it. I remember buying old Galaxy s3 and moding the hell out of it. But I'm older and don't have time like I did when I was younger so I'm stuck. The problems on my OP8 5G UW just accelerated. I'm pretty sure it's software related. Last system update was a "network improvements" haha- yeah right! Since after I've been in hours and hours in Verizon chats, calls, I've spoke to OnePlus techs, I've done replacements, sim swaps, clean resets. Nothing is working to resolve my 1mbps download speed network is slow as hell, 17 Meg's 20 min. Tomorrow I'm talking Verizon tech to get my 4th replacement turned in and hopefully get a Galaxy S10 FE. I always wanted ONEPLUS but not this way. I'm done

I'm in Frederic Michigan, near Grayling. Rural area, but Verizon is king up here. And, with a low population density, I've had really great service for years. Up until recently. Wife has a Galaxy Note 9 and doesn't have half the issues.
So update. I wasn't allowed to move on to another phone with old big red. I exhausted my replacements with Verizon my only option now is to pay this off and move on. I did get some slight improvements turning the automatic to manual in Network Mode. It seems like I don't have the constant 5g/4g fight. As for original topic, I use the Samsung browser and I don't have any hanging or freezing.
Yea I'm kinda and the same boat got a phone didn't work good paid it off early got the OnePlus and now this I did switch to manual too and it helped a little bit. But not a lot we can do I definitely won't be buying any more Vzw phones. I can't even maintain consistent hotspot for over 30 40 minutes ever since past update. I have the 5G icon now that's not really 5G speed at all. I've gotten true 5G on this phone a couple times and it's amazingly fast. The 5G icon fades an drops too 4g when it does it kicks me off discos hotspot an network sometimes. I just don't have the will to deal with tier 3 tech anymore lol. I had prepaid for seven years with Verizon and it worked flawless many different phones over the years soon as I got postpaid went to hell

I'm in New Orleans and delt with all Network connection problems too. I'm on my 3 rd replacement and spent hours, days, and weeks ping-ponging through Verizon finest bull**** techs, Verizon sent me to OnePlus tech where the tech there referred me CDMA LESS and after a long work about found out that I was already on CDMA LESS. The only thing that helped other than bazilion factory resets and it's not the solution by any means is turn the automatic best Network set it to manual Verizon 4g. You still get the stupid 5g emblem but I've noticed an improvement as in connectivity. Not stable, I get interference and dropped calls all the time. Also i read something on how Verizon used cheaper antennas for their fake 5g push. Also could this be a conflict with Oxygen? I'm reading a lot of similar Network issues after updates.
Right on thanks, Not sure if manual mode actually sticks. Does it just switch back? But yes I too figured it'd help out. When I do let's say Run a diagnostic from Verizon's app one of the first things it says is this phone cannot auto connect to use lte/cdma for better signal. And that's wild it's connected and automatic mode. So it's obvious it's a hardware issue or software issue on their end. If they would allow you to control the phone we could fix it. Just got my first replacement today. Fixing the boot it up soon and see what the deal is software wise etc etc. The connectivity issue were both having is just 1 issue lol. I've got six or eight more easy. Mine seems like it's good data connection wise either with the fake 5g icon or without it. Bars will start fluctuating pretty rapidly (It's searching) I'll lose the 5G icon in turn lose hotspot lose date connection etc. Then it will come back with no 5G icon, connect, Be gr8 for about 10min or I reset prl & net setting. Someone tell me there 5g for most parts like here & there is basically just a glorified 4G LTE. There 5g coverage map clearly says or did there's no 5g here. I believe this to be true as I have connected to real vzw 5g in Tampa an you can tell big time!! This 5g even with there signal booster they sent me is not any if all better than 4g. Could kinda care less about the 5g it's the consistent intermittent network issues. Pls lmk what you find out either by p.m. or what have ya. I'll do the same. I'm gonna try this new vzw root I believe an switch too global or whatever I need too do weather it voids certain things or not lol. Sorry 4 the long read but wanted give ya what I knew. Here's a shot of there diagnostic mess. From vzw. An a shot of real 5g speed test before the updated deal that displays the 5g icon

Question Mobile Data extremely slow on Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with Snapdragon processor.
I use dual SIMs from different network providers, and both support 5G.
When I'm on mobile data, I find that the internet connection becomes extremely slow, and sometimes doesn't work at all. Switching to the other data SIM under SIM Manager Settings sometimes helps, but often the speed is pathetic. Even though the status bar shows 5G or LTE+ or LTE, the speeds I get most of the time on either SIM is like 2G.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but please note:
1. I use Netguard to block most system apps from connecting to the internet.
2. I use private DNS (dns.adguard.com) and I often get this notification Network has no internet access (Private DNS server cannot be accessed) which goes away after a few seconds.
Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
Thanks.

I have bad news for you, I bought one yesterday and it made calls without problems, but the internet is terrible, and it turned out that the cell phone is on a blacklist in Canada by a cell phone company there and hence the problem.

I'm not in Canada and the S22U isn't on the blacklist of any telecom company here.
At best, this is a software issue.
At worst, this is an issue with the network modem/ radio on the device.
And I hope it is a software issue.
disable 5G and use NEXTDNS ultrafast servers
my LTE is 30-160 MBPS
my 5G is 60-280 MBPS
5G is draining battery like a crazy--so its off for me
I hope all basic troubleshooting is done on this matter. Even if this is not the issue with the operator then for sure it is a Software issue, because, in my S22 Ultra, everything is running perfectly;y fine.

I use Private DNS dns.adguard.com. I disable it and is ok now.

Turning OFF private DNS helps, but only rarely. When i have the problem, nothing i do solves it, including reboot. And when it works, it's pretty much on its own.

Interesting. I see that I can uninstall it (as opposed to disabling). For now, I have deleted it's app data, restricted battery usage and blocked it from accessing internet using Netguard. I'll see how it goes from here. Thanks for this tip.

Question Significantly degraded internet performance (P7P)

I've been using my P7Pro for a while now, and every now and then the phone just seems to drop out of internet connection (non cellular related, was totally good). I get full signal and full speed on wifi and cellular on my other devices while my P7Pro is barely able to send a message.
Rebooting the device *sometimes* solves the issue and it will work fine for a very long while. But then it will do it again.
Had this happened during the cold and indoor so I'm confused af about this
System info & Plugins if anyone's curious
January update

Do you by any chance use any adblock DNS filtering? Something like AdGuard for instance?
I had some issues on by P7P and the old OnePlus phone and DNS filtering was the culprit. That's the only thing I could think.

Any vpns?
DNs changes will definitely affect some websites, I have VPN on all the time and haven't experienced any issues ( i don't use the one offered for Google as it stopped working for some reason and either way it's not the best pot there. Also check adaptive connectivity options as that will make your connection wonky. I don't use root or any mods on my device so it's.fully stock.

There was something with adaway a few weeks ago or so where I had to temporarily disable it
I get drop outs from time to time. Figured it was Adguard. I just stick it in airplane mode for a few seconds, and then it comes back. Mostly happens when I go from wifi back to cellular
There is definitely something wrong with the latest January releases. Both the stock version and the beta releases (on my device) drop downloads repeatedly. Also my device keeps losing connection and switching from 5G to 4G to LTE in the same location. Maybe on the Pixel 8 Google will finally go back to Qualcomm antennas.

Not gonna happen.
I haven't had a single issue since switching to LTE only (5g is spotty in my area anyways). I think the radio gets stuck searching and switching between the 2 sometimes. I noticed it most when inside buildings and this has completely solved my issue. Even in rural areas, it has remained consistent. I would recommend just using LTE and see if that has any effect.
Edit-I know you stated it wasn't cellular related and I thought mine wasn't either, but this worked for me for whatever reason.
I happen to live in an area where 5G is good on Mint (T-Mobile). I always get a solid 5G UC.
But I find that 5G is NOT all that different than LTE in real world day-to-day use. In fact I doubt that anyone could see any difference at all unless they were using an app to actually measure any difference. SO if you live in a spotty area for 5G then by all means just turn it off (it's great that we can turn it off) and stick with LTE and be happy!

Agreed, and I also work out in rural areas often, where 5G is spotty, so I just keep mine set to 4g Preferred
I've had similar connection problems but it was location specific. I live in Phoenix, AZ where my signal and connection were great with no issues on TMobile. When I visited family in Austin, TX I would get constant problems. Often I would lose signal and never get it back and would either restart my phone or just in and out of airplane mode and everything temporarily works again.
