Have a question for you smart folks. So I've run into this problem of not having a mic for my pc so bought a dongle and it doesn't work and got me thinking, must be an app for that so I looked and found the only one out there is a virus on the PC client side (won't mention names) So I'm wondering, are we able to like maybe make a midi connection through USB PC to the phone and the phone can send the audio/mic to my headset and completely eliminate the none reliability of said bluetooth dongle? I meant there has to be a way somehow if it is plugged in via USB correct?

If it was not WO mic app, check this: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/use-smartphone-windows-microphone/
There are several tutorials on youtube how to connect the mobile phone as microphone to your PC using this app.

Hey everyone !
So here's the problem : I've got a Nexus 7 + Galaxy S2 I727R that I'd like to use at work. I could tether the connection from my S2 to my tablet and use that but I'm not on unlimited data plan. I also know I can share my PC connection via Bluetooth but that'd need a specific software to be installed, in the lines of stuff like BlueSoleil. Considering I have no admin rights at workplace, is there any alternative that would permit me to share the PC connection via a Bluetooth dongle without installing a software ? The BT dongle is detected AND installed via Windows 7 but there is no BT icons in the bottom-right corner and there's no built-in BT-software on the computer.
I did my research on the PortableApps forum, which would be a decent option but I can't seem to find anything...
Anyone had any luck sharing Internet over BT on a workplace PC ?
Thanks.
P.S : Remember, no admin rights.
Sorry you can't use a BT dongle without some sort of bluetooth software installed
Yes there are bluetooth dongles which are plug and play, which don't need installing drivers, see these ones for example
BLUETOOTH ADAPTER DONGLE PC LAPTOP-PLUG "N" PLAY - UK
Tiny Plug & Play Bluetooth 2.0 USB Dongle 100m range
Mini Bluetooth Dongle for Computers and Laptops - Plug N Play Transfer Files
Problem is all of them support Bluetooth 2.0 not 2.1+EDR, please advise and please help find a bluetooth dongle which is plug and play and is designed for bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Thing is, even with the bluetooth dongle working you won't be able to share Internet connection through ICS without admin rights. If anyone has a workaround on this, it would be appreciated!! I'd like to use my S2 more at work, but with 250mb / month it's left unused most of the day =/

What exactly are you trying to do?
Are you trying to tether your computer through your phone (i.e. connect the computer to the phone via USB cable, and then use the phone's WiFi / 3G connection on your computer)?
Or just use the phone as a wifi finder (which seems odd because if your computer has WiFi then it should be able to see the access points on its own..)?
I'll assume you're going for the first one because the second one doesn't make any sense. You should search the forum for "USB tether" .. although since you're asking for iPhone or android, it seems like you don't have a device yet...

I have no WiFi adapter. I want to use an android/iPod as a wifi adapter so I can see possible connections listed on the PC (providided by the ipod or android device)..
I build a WiFi antenna that i want to put the device in, i hook the phone/ipod to the computer, then on the computer i find the best wifi point to connect to and connect to it.
I dont want to see the listings for the access points on the device, i want to see and connect to the listings on my computer.
Shameless bump.
I basically want my old android phone or old iPod touch to act as a wifi adapter. That's it.
You mean a hotspot?

Team Viewer
Install on pc and phone
Log in play music.
No usb just need data 3g/lte or wifi and pc must be on the internet.
You don't have to be connect to the same network just username and password will give you remote access to your pc and you can play music through you phone from your pc.
I can't seem to get MTP working with the phone. Whatever cable I use, including the OEM cable, the phone just starts charging. USB settings in Settings -> Connected devices are greyed out. On every other phone I ever used, when connected via USB, a notification shows up asking what to do with the connection (charge, MTP, PTP, etc.), said notification is not here. Anyone else having the same issue?
Edit: googled around, might be an Android issue. Nice. I guess I'll have to use the 3.5mm jack to listen to music in my car now, great.

And a few more. The only solution apparently *maybe* is to buy a 3rd party cable.
Edit: after writing this post I decided to try again and lo and behold... It works now. For reasons of I don't friggin know. All cables that didn't work before now work just fine for charging and data transfer between my PC and the phone. Unfortunately my car HU keeps disconnecting and reconnecting the USB, which is a bummer because that's the reason I actually care about file transfer.
I am using Android Pie on my Mi A1 from Christmas 2018 and I never had a problem with MTP, it worked fine with all monthly security updates.
Works as expected here for me at least, with the prompt and everything.
Just tried it out for myself on my work laptop. Connected via a 3rd party micro-USB cable with micro-USB-to-USB-C adapter (so one of the more "fragile" ways to connect) and it directly popped up the question of whether to allow file transfers. After that, the phone was normally browsable on the computer and the USB connection notification that allows for mode-switching is present.

So one can conclude that problem is in your phone, FR will cure it probably.

Perhaps actually more with the unit in the car.. From my understanding the buggy file-transfer is between the phone and the car's unit?
I am having problems using my phone as a USB host when connecting a Digispark:
My phone simply never detects the Digispark (anyone with a Digispark can test this
with the ArduinoDroid app, or with direct SDK programming). Digispark uses a
custom USB driver, not a catalog HID driver (for the record, USB HID keyboards do
work fine on my phone).
I'm told that the Digispark connects fine on other (non-EMUI non-Huawei) phones.
Can anyone confirm this, or better yet explain the problem? I suspect EMUI might
not open custom USB devices up for developer access...
Thanks for your help! I've been trying to debug this for weeks...and just giving up

Can't say for your device but I've used a usb to rs485 adaptor without issue.
I'm guessing running lsusb picks up your device?
Sent from my HUAWEI ALP-L29 using XDA Labs
Did your adapter use an HID protocol?
And, how would I run lsusb? I mean I could try to do something like "adb shell lsusb"
from the computer while the phone is both a slave to the computer and a host...I
wonder if maybe you are mistakenly thinking I'm having a problem connecting my
phone to a computer, but that is fine (Digispark to computer also works fine, the
problem is Digispark to phone).

Wireless ADB? I was mistakenly thinking of running lsusb from terminal in phone but that gives permission denied. Must be to many years of rooted devices.
Do you get any kind of response from the phone when connected? Even a minimum of "reverse charging" mode?
Sent from my HUAWEI ALP-L29 using XDA Labs
I do get the Reverse Charging response, but that occurs from the USB Type C OTG adapter alone (because all adapters have 5k ohm resistor pulldown on CC pin), so it does not change anything when the Digispark gets connected through the adapter. I'm hoping someone else in these
forums might have a Digispark and Mate 30 to confirm my problem...
