ROM recommendation for Lenovo A7000-a - General Questions and Answers

Hiya,
I have an old Lenovo A7000, which only has got 8Gigs of internal memory and 2Gigs or RAM, on that about 3.5 Gigs occupied by the OS.
I would like to install a lightweight OS on it, like installing a lightweight linux distribution. I new to this area, I have experience customizing and installing desktop kenels.
I need an OS which is bloat-free an minimal.
Could you recommend a lightest possible ROM/kernel, in terms of storage and RAM I can install on the mentioned phone.
Also, if I can install apps to SD card too, that would be fantastic.
Thank You.

[Q] Use of ROM (Memory) in Android Devices

I am going to ask very basic question regarding ROM in Android Device.
Searched for Android Devices and found as below (different devices):
1) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM
2) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM
3) Memory - 1 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM
because of ROM size, prices are different from one another.
Is it just the normal internal memory which they are labeling as ROM, or does it have a different purpose altogether. Because once phone is up and running the OS is loaded in RAM and not ROM.
If OS is installed in ROM, it may occupy 1 or 2 GB, what is the use of remaining space.
1) user can install app of his/her choice
2) app data storage
3) cache / delvik cache
3) anything else
if someone purchase with Memory - 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, what approx Internal Storage he/she will have to install apps?
I would appreciate your help and response.
Regards.

Memory Optimization

Hi all!
I have a N5 820 16GB vers.
ROM: xTraFactory (Latest MM)
Kernel: ElementalX
In my others smartphones, I liked include the system application updates in the system memory using Link2SD , but now this is impossible because my memory system is almost fully complete.
As a result, now I have several system applications occupying system memory and internal memory.
What do you recommend?
Do I remove and reinstall applications so that only occupy internal memory? ummm...
thanks!

Are Android 5.1.x users still unable to use SD storage as internal storage without?

I have an HP Pro Slate 8 with 16GB internal storage. HP's last ROM update was for 5.1.1. I've not yet been able to find a suitable rooting solution, so I'm stuck with HP's ROM (and all the bloat that came with it). Last time I checked - a couple of years ago - we were unable to use external storage as if it was internal storage. I just wondered if that's still the case? I'd really like to stop running in to low-storage issues every other week...!
You mean adoptable storage, it's exclusive on Android 6.0.x or higher, Android 5.x.x doesn't have mentioned feature.

Stock vs custom, storage, etc.

Hi everybody.
I have a Moto G 2015 1GB/8GB XT1541 model, currently completely stock with latest Android 6.0.1. I am also using a 16GB SD card unified with internal storage. The phone runs OK, could probably be a little faster.
My only problem is this: while I do not have too many apps installed, often the internal memory gets full and then I cannot get any updates; I have to clear cache and try again. The whole situation is rather "on the edge": I have to be very careful if I want to install a new app, I probably need to uninstall another one etc. And I feel that the SD card is under-utilized, keeping mainly photos and some app data.
Any suggestions on how to get the most out this phone?
My thoughts / questions:
1. What is the best way to use the SD Card in stock configuration? Will it be better if I separate it from internal storage? Could I root the phone in order to move (less frequently used) apps to the SD Card?
2. How do Android 7 custom ROMs handle the SD Card on this phone?
3. Would you say the phone runs faster on Android 7 (eg. AOSP Extended) than stock? Usage is quite light, mainly phone calls using Bluetooth (stability is a must), some browsing, Viber and Facebook (lite!).
Did you try with data migration from internal storage to SD?

I did, thanks. There have been some savings but not too much. There are some applications that do not offer the option to move them to internal storage.
Any more ideas, esp. regarding comparison with Android 7 custom ROMs?

You better switch to Custom ROM. If you are not interested in customising your ROM use Lineage OS.
I'm using Dirty Unicorns with Fire Kernel. Battery life in this ROM is the Best!

System space saved by ROM install

Hello,
I was wondering what your experiences with custom ROM installs on your XA2 Ultra were?
The phone only has 32Gb of space. Luckily I have a 128Gb sd card for photos and the rest.
It's seems like it would be a hassle to install a stock rom - I haven't even rooted my phone.
But my space is drying up - I have a lot of large apps on here.
So I'm wondering what various sizes of your system partitions and overall storage is like on your phones once your rooted and with system roms or just one of them.
I imagine many of you might also install apps on your SD cards as well.
Thanks in advance.
