i am posting in regards to any if not all information regarding the mediatek powered velvet.
the reason for this post is to see where or how we can approach finding a root solution. i by no means am a developer that can guarantee anything but experimentation.
now, knowing this is a mediatek 1000c
-can we use mediatek root solutions that are provided here on xda for current mediatek soc?
-would download mode also be present/exploitable? (like past models)
-due to this being a tmobile variant expect that we cannot crossflash due to different soc/rsa keys
ill be receiving my device tomorrow to tinker with as soon as i get it. ive been around the lg scene since the v10/g2 days and helped out the v30(h932) community by loaning my device to a real developer in the lg scene, runningnak3d. ill be researching and asking around for tips.
any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Update 1: oem unlock available out of the box, phone needs to be paid off until the bootloader is allowed to be unlocked properly.
Update 2: fastbootd is accessible through adb command, also this has a somewhat close to stock android recovery only accessible through fastbootd screen(havent tried adb command for recovery yet). choosing bootloader returns you to system. Download mode is the usual volume up and plug in the usb. No DLL extracted yet to do a file DUMP.
I wish there was a way to ”debrand” this LG Velvet 5G. I purchased mine from amazon “factory unlocked” however when I received it, it was an unlocked Tmobile version. I instantly was grumpy but it was just a spare/play around phone while my OP9 Pro was being repaired. but now that I am running into issues with my OP9 (lost in mail) I am stuck using this piece and am pissed. I would love to take Tmo off of this thing bc it randomly slows down to a crawl and must be rebooted to remedy it.
Need help! The G900tm is permanently unlocked. Only 2g works in any of the network modes. Using the g-mon pro program, I found out that the phone detects 3 / 4G, but cannot connect to them. I downgraded the firmware to 10j with a full reset, the phone connected to 4g (band 20), worked for 20 minutes and the network was gone! I tried a SIM card from another operator, but nothing changed. I can't understand what is the reason!

search is not working for me right now. can a droid 2 global run fully on att service? the only info i found was dated last year and said we are getting close. need answer asap . thx ahead of time.
its possible, if you have 100 dollars to shell out to team black hat so they could band unlock it for you, without the band unlock you cant use the d2g on us carriers and tbh is the only group offering the band unlock, at a hefty price.
I just got off te phone with motorolla global. They said the person with the phone in service can call verizon and ask for unlock code. Simple as that he said.
Look on these forums, you wont be able to use at&t even when unlocked, like I said you need to band unlock the phone, which is going to cost you 100 dollars
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
To me the $100 would be well worth it to have a phone I could take to AT&T or Verizon, imagine the ability to roam on AT&T with their SIM or be on Verizon if AT&T wasn't so great.
Here is how it works.
The person who developed the band unlock wanted money for his efforts and we agreed to purchase the solution from him because he didn't want to manage the service himself.
We have to charge what we do to cover those costs, simple as that.
For someone who really wants to use their phone on AT&T or T-Mobile it is well worth the investment and there are no other options.
Unfortunately, the solution is only available for the original firmware release on the D2G, but works well if you are willing to remain on that build.
Contact via PM if interested.
Try either of these and it should work. I can not check because I am in India.
Dial *#*#info#*#*
Select PHONE INFORMATION"
TURN OFF RADIO
MENU -> SELECT RADIO BAND -> YOU WILL GET OPTION USA BAND
TURN ON RADIO
REBOOT
2. CONNECT IT TO QPST
Go to UMTS TAB and enable all radio frequency bands
Either These two method must unlock D2G for US bands.
how do you connect it to QPST?

What port does the Droid 2 Global need to be on when creating a virtual port? I use 11008 and it connects to QPST config but does want to connect in the service config. I am using HW virtual service port
Use these drivers and force your system to use these driver
To put phone in diag mode, pull out battery, press camera and power button together and plug in USB cable. Hold buttons till hardware is detected.
Then you will be able to connect it to QPST. While writing phone remove SIM and write, else it will not write properly

I'm having trouble powering the device since it has no battery when i click the power and camera buttons together then plug the usb cable in, ive held it in for about a minute, but no luck. Are these drivers compatible with windows 7, i have a feeling i need to boot into XP. Thank you.
I am using it on W7 only. Try installing MOTOROLA DRIVERS first then once it is detected in DIAG mode, force these drivers.

Hi kshah! Nice work but I dont think it will work as you are suggesting because of the methods Motorola used to lock out US GSM bands.
In any event, we have decided to release the band unlock for D2G and D Pro publicly and will be writing up the method and posting it with links to required files.
This method only works on stock devices on the original release firmware so you must flash back with RSD Lite first and then perform the NV edit required.
The solution for later firmware revs came in the form of unsigned radio images that cannot be flashed on stock secured hardware and the original NV item "switch" no longer has any effect because the blocking method was integrated into the radio image and actually powers down the GSM radio when it registers on the US MCC.
We also have a large number of internal files and documents regarding the MDM6600 chipset and we will be making most of that available to devs for further research. It is possible it can be isolated and applied to stock phones if the right folks get their hands on this material.
For those intrepid and well versed in the NVM I will drop a big fat hint:
2042 record 0001 offset 0000 bytes 1 00
Thanks cellzealot
Why I said "IT MAY" because while in dialer menu #*#*info*#*# when I chose USA CELLULAR BAND my phone could not work on any Indian cellular bands.
In India 2100 / 1800 and 900 MHz bands. So I thought it may have got in to 850 / 1900 USA bands.
I have no ways to check it so sharing here.
So in the case that this is posted soon, where can dev's get their hands on the materials? I'd be interested in finding out why the GSM radio gets shut down, and perhaps colaborating with other people to fix that. It doesn't make a lot of sense that the big V would vandalize the handset and market it as a worldwide multi-carrier phone. You'd think they'd love the sales aspect of this device by marketing it as an ANY carrier phone. Also, locking the bootloader so that no unsigned code can run, BAD move. This phone would have a ton more support by the dev's if it were simple and easy. Sometimes I never will understand why big V does what they do.

That's not a hint, its a TEASE, if i only knew what to set it to!!!!
If you understand hex you would know that the first byte of that SEEM element needs to be set to 00.
Use hex entries for the SEEM ID.
Out of curiosity, how were you getting unsigned sbf images to run? I thought they had to be signed because of the bootloader. Would be way easier to edit the sbf then deal with getting PST functionality to perform a seem edit.
Edit: Disregard this post.... I read a more detailed post you had on a different thread.
I have a bootloader locked, unrooted, stock Moto g 4.4.2 on Verizon Prepay. I can not get the phone to connect to 3G. I thought it was initially because I ran out of data. I put 3gb onto the account two hours ago and still am unable to connect to data. I have 3G service but the icon is highlighted orange.
I've tried Safe Mode, restarts, entering and exiting airplane mode to no avail.

What I meant was that this seems to be a problem prevalent with the SIM variants. I haven't seen this issue with the CDMA devices. However, I'm still having issues after re-activating and updating the PRL.
I sent Middleman a request for my bootloader unlock code so I'm hoping once I get CM up and going it will resolve my data issue.

Hi,
I hope someone could help me save a useless phone.
I got a Z3 from ebay (it's O2 Germany). As soon as I turned it on it updated to 5.0.2.
Then later I inserted the SIM card (took me some time to get the nano from the carrier).
It's not SIM locked.
The problem is that I can't get a steady signal. AT ALL. It hits a signal for 2 sec, then nothing.
It can recognize my carrier in the split second that it's on, I got the access points and all. I can even search for carriers and get a list of several to choose from.
The same phenomena is apparently happening with the NFC - the software switch turns on then straight off (same radio chip issue?)
I have tried GSM only, WCDMA only, LTE.
Tried changing the bands used using the internal *#*# menus.
Using flashtool I have flashed a stock global rom instead of the german. And local stock.
I have read that some people had this issue after the lollipop update so I rolled back to stock 4.4.4, same issues with cellular and NFC.
I'm really at a lost. I have this fancy brick that I was hoping to give my dad (he needs the screen size, the old fool) and instead I'm wasting valuable time at work trying to fix it...
Anyone?
Thanks,
Juv.

I got the exact same problem, im in Norway and using mye Operator firmware..
I'm having the NFC problem. I have the US T-Mobile version (D6616), and NFC stopped working right after I updated to Lollipop.
Factory reset, and repairing using Sony's PC Companion does not help. On first boot, i'll get a "NFC firmware update failed (-1)".
I have a brand-new rooted and LineageOS modded Motorola One 5G Ace. Ever since the 3G shutoff, most of my family has been having problems with their phones - except for my son and his old Moto G4+ - his phone works perfectly. I expected the purchase of this phone, which was on the AT&T whitelist would solve the issues that I was having but that was not the case - this phone is still having the same problems. I even tried switching carriers (it would probably work if I went with AT&T directly but they're WAY too expensive) but it seems that no matter what I do, I can't call.
Now here is the interesting bit.
My carrier's access point gives me data but no phone.
Switching to any AT&T access point with the MMSC set to http://mmsc.mobile.att.net gives me phone, but no data. SMS is still available.
My carrier's tech support and I tried a lot of different things without success
Has anyone overcome this issue?
Sidenote - switching the MMSC to https://mmsc.mobile.att.net and the MMS port to 8080 works but data seems slower.

OK, so the answer seems to be the auto (PRL) selection in the "Set Preferred Network Type" list - except, on my phone, auto (PRL) doesn't show up for any entries other than GSM/WCDMA (dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to Phone Info). My son has LTE in his list. There must be a file somewhere on the phone with the preferred network types ...
you never mentioned where you got the phone (direct from att or 3rd party) or the precise model number.
was pondering getting this phone to help parents having to turn off LTE after the att 3g fiasco started, because att is their only coverage option
(stupid att refuses to enable VoLTE for many devices including their moto x4 devices, which would work fine on tmo if they had coverage, and running current LOS)

Sorry. Phone is an XT2113-2 purchased directly from Motorola. Also, I was mistaken - the preferred network type needs to be set to "GSM/WCDMA preferred". I set the phone to what I listed above but the phone reset itself to that setting and it works. I suspect that once AT&T straightens everything out, you'll need to switch it to something else if it's not done automatically.
I found this phone at the top of the AT&T Whitelist for Motorola phones, which is one of the reasons I bought it. I refuse to get a Samsung or any other phone where the company goes out of its way to prevent people from unlocking the bootloader.
Well, I came across this little tidbit on the AT&T Community Forums.
The pertinent post is this one by Centarus3200:
Type this code into your keypad.
*#*#4636#*#*
If under "phone information", VOLTE is grayed out and you can't turn it on, ATT has blocked your phone's IMEI from being provisioned for 4G voice calls.
You can try to convince advanced tech support to provision your phone for VOLTE, but they'll either stall you out on an endless circle (Edited per community guidelines) or basically tell you to go (Edited per community guidelines) an egg (meaning buy a new phone from them).
Unnoficially, ATT will NOT provision any unlocked phone for VOLTE. Period.
Yes, even if it's on their whitelist. They just wanted to screw you into a corner first with that lie.
There are several vendors selling unlocked phones for use with their networks. If these phones are able to achieve LTE / 5G coverage, it must be due to one of the following reasons:
Best case (and unlikeliest scenario) - the IMEI of all phones sold by the carrier has been registered with AT&T and will be allowed on their network - that would allow modding of the phone since the IMEI is not changed during modding.
The "unlocked" phone has been modified somehow to AT&T specs so that it will be allowed on the network. This would mean modding the phone would get rid of the modification so a modded phone would lose coverage.
Worst case - AT&T can detect the OS fingerprint of the phone. If this changes when the bootloader is unlocked, that would mean that AT&T can detect phones with unlocked bootloaders.
Sadly, I am returning my brand new phone to Motorola - I don't have the technical savvy to deal with this. It would require some wizard over at LineageOS to overcome this hurdle.

thanks for confirming.
i suspected that ATT would continue being excessively fascist, capitalist pigs, with their whitelist extortion racket of VoLTE certification fees from manufacturers...
no point in getting this 2021 bootloader unlockable device to use with LOS (since moto hasn't upgraded os from 10 for most variants) if my parents are stuck on 3.5G H+ mode anyway.
please file both an FCC and FTC complaint against ATT for their anti-consumer, anti-competitive, and anti-environment VoLTE whitelist policy hidden under the claims of "3g shutdown".

Well, I wouldn't say capitalist. Capitalists would be interested in maximizing their profits and would avoid restrictions. Monopolists and mercantilists, certainly but capitalists get a bad rap.
I won't be filing a complaint. AT&T is a merchantilist concern in cahoots with the government agencies mentioned. Anything I do will be flatly ignored. The best approach is the market approach - circumvent their restrictions and make them look foolish.
ATT is apparently doing just fine on the capitalist front, my parents are pretty ready to just give up on android and keep saying let's just buy an iphone because never had calling problems with them, so... i'm sure plenty other folks stuck with ATT are just buying off their whitelist from ATT, more profit from lack of choices.
Here is the story so far ...
3G Shutdown - Consumer Cellular is bought out by AT&T so all their phones are locked now.
Purchased a Motorola One 5G Ace from Motorola, unlocked the bootloader and installed LineageOS.
Moved my service to Pure Talk - no 4G.
Tried to go to Mint Mobile but there is no real T-Mobile coverage in my town.
Gave up and sent back the Ace to Motorola. Decided to purchase a phone directly from the provider.
Did some research and found that the only company offering Motorola phones on the AT&T network is Patriot Mobile - Purchased a Moto G Play from them. Decided not to unlock the bootloader quite yet but got the unlock key from Motorola.
There was some issues with activating the phone so I put my Pure Talk SIM in the phone and was able to access the 4G network.
Made myself a developer on the phone and tried to turn on OEM Unlocking - not able to do it.
Today, I ironed out the issues with Patriot Mobile activated the service and put my Patriot Mobile SIM card in. Now I can turn on OEM Unlocking.
Observations: It appears that the provider SIM card is able to control whether or not OEM Unlocking can be turned on. It also appears that the provider SIM card can detect if OEM Unlocking is on or off and either send that info to the provider, limit band access or, possibly, penalize the user in other ways.
What to Do: I plan on leaving the OEM Unlocking switch in the ON position for a week and monitor for 4G coverage. If everything looks good, I will then unlock the bootloader and wait for another week. If that goes well, I will purchase another 5G Ace and see how that goes.

Downloaded the recovery files today with the Motorola recovery tool and tried using Magisk to modify the boot image - it failed. I may try to load Magisk from recovery. There is no "official" TWRP recovery but both /e/ foundation and LineageOS have their own recoveries that can be flashed or run from fastboot.
Update 20220614 15:01 EST: I successfully rooted the phone through /e/ foundation recovery using Magisk 25.0. TopJohnWu has rewritten the whole thing V25 is currently in beta but I read through the notes and I felt more confident with this version. After root, I was able to get 5G data and send and receive phone calls just fine. Next step is to load /e/ ROM onto the phone. I am confident that I can recover using the Motorola recovery tool if things go south.
The TWRP on the Telegram channel works. I am using it.

Hello!! I'm new here! I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I have a TCL 30 XE 5G (T767W) from Metro by T-Mobile and I had it sim unlocked by an eBay seller who had me hook it up to my PC via USB. The settings menu says it's still locked but it does accept sims from other carriers so I think it's unlocked. The problem is that it won't find any service at all with any sim other than the original Metro sim unless I set it to 2G only mode. Even selecting my service provider from the available network list doesn't work. The only way I can get the phone to find service is to force it to connect to 2G then change the network mode to LTE and then finally set it to 5G and that doesn't always work either and even when it does it's only a matter of time before it randomly disconnects and is left forever searching for service but never reconnecting until I set it back to 2G only mode again. All this is happening in a city with great T-Mobile coverage and all of the sims I've tried run on the T-Mobile network. The only sim that works without any fuss is the Metro sim even after the phone was unlocked. I'm using the phone on a T-Mobile MVNO now but it always disconnects sooner or later. I don't understand how a new phone can't automatically find an LTE or 5G network without first connecting to 2G and it doesn't find that either unless it's set to 2G only mode. Aside from the obvious inconvenience this causes, T-Mobile plans to shut down their 2G network soon at which point this phone won't be able to find service. Has anyone else run into this problem? I have two of these phones both are doing the same thing. Did something go wrong with the unlock? Is it a software issue? I tried asking my carrier for help but they can't figure it out either. I appreciate any help or info anyone here can offer. Sorry for the long post.
i suggest taking into a service and getting it there unlocked. perhaps your method prove faulty.
